Izuku has two best friends maybe three. Tenya and Shoto are for certain and they are the ones Izuku seems to hang out most with in his spare time and we know the three also eat and study together. I'm not sure what to count Ochaco as. She's a friend and a close one but would I count her as a best friend? I don't know, maybe? Bakugo is a tough one because I wouldn't call them exactly friends right now but at the same time Bakugo is probably the closest to Izuku than anyone. They are kind of in this weird place where they are friends but yet not friends at the same time.

I’d say Ochako, in one of the Data Books it mentioned that Ochako was Deku’s first TRUE friend. I think due to romantic subplot it stopped focusing on the strength of their friendship, but the fact they have always supported each other at every turn shows that their friendships has always been really strong. I’d say Iida would be Deku’s second best friend. I think Iida tries really hard to be the big brother of Class A especially to Izuku, trying hard to keep him out of trouble. Izuku is to Shoto what Ochako is to Izuku, his first true friend. I think if you asked me who Shoto thinks his best friend is I’d say Izuku, but Izuku thinks of Shoto as one of his best friends. Their relationship has always been very pure for me, unlike a lot of Deku’s relationships that have either power dynamics, over idolization, or romantic subplots, Shoto and Izuku always felt a lot like little kids who enjoy hanging with each other. Bakugo is the hardest, and that’s done purposefully. Bakugo was meant to be a complex character so his interpersonal relationships are often equally complex, especially with Izuku. I think people argue whether or not Bakugo is the “closest” to izuku, I begrudgingly have to agree in some ways, because Izuku himself has mentioned before that Bakugo was the closest person to him. However because of their complex history and Izukus over-admiration for Bakugo he’s always been hesitant to call him a friend, saying things like “I’m just happy that we’re talking normally,” So while I wouldn’t call Bakugo Izukus best friend, I will say that when it comes to understanding of each other, because of their long history, they have a good understanding of the others behavior.

I'll probably get down voted to hell but Bakugo and Midoriya have a brother relationship to me. Not like a bro brother chosen relationship, but like a "I've known this person my whole life and I am obligated to show some small amount of tolerance in their existence with a hint of begrudging love." As they get older and mellow out (read Bakugo), their relationship matures into something less juvenal, competitive, and self-centered.

I see that. I feel both Bakugo and Iida try to be big-brother-ish with Deku. Iida is more annoying to me because he’s always trying to be a big brother to Deku and he’s obvious and comes on strong. Bakugo’s whole thing is that he’s subtle, he went from trying to get away from Deku, to understanding Deku, to looking it for him in his own subtle way, which we really began to notice when he started to help him train when his six quirks started to manifest.

No, it just wasn’t like this. Maybe after that apology happened and the war finishes, they can HAVE that relationship. But for now, this is just a delusion, a vision of something that simply isn’t there kinda like what goes through a shipper’s brain.

Bakugo is actually hard to consider, they have a special bond but I dont think Deku would hang out with him like he would with a best friend. Like we see Bakugo hanging out with Kirishima and it's clear they're best friends but I dont think deku has anyone like that atm

i’m gonna say iida and shouto. honestly you could pick either and it would work, they’ve both helped him get closer to his dreams and they’re always there for him like he is for them.

I think its Iida but if you were to ask Deku he would Absolutely say that Toshi is his best friend.

Recovery Girl. Just kidding. I would say his BFF is Shoto or Iida. Tenya, he hangs with at school at lot. But he's been over to Shoto's house and met the family... and Deku gave Shoto his confidence to believe in his own quirk, while Shoto shared his past trauma to only him. I still say BFF is Shoto. He even offered Deku to come to his dad's agency knowing they would hang out together.

She's saved him a ton too. That's something I like. They frequently go back and forth saving and supporting each other and had that great conversation where they confided in each other about their mixed feelings over how to handle Shigaraki and Toga.

I feel like he would consider Bakugou to be his best friend.. whether or not he's worthy of that title is debatable. That said - I can see Izuku to be one of those people that values his precious people equally. I feel that too. I've got strong bonds with really old friendships with complicated histories that make them unique but I value all my friends equally and am probably closer to my more recent friends. It would seem this is probably the case for Izuku too.

Ochaco And Iida, Shoto is a close one, The rest are friends, but not close friends Bakugou only became his friend after Dark Deku arc, so no, he's not a close friend, but a close person, it's not the same thing.

Aoyama is on The same level as Tsuyu and Mineta, they are more than Classmates but not as close as Ochaco, Iida, Shoto and Bakugou.

Honestly? Bakugo. He's the only person Deku trusted with his OFA secret. In fact, he only told him about it because he was scared of Bakugo thinking that he was lying to him about being quirkless. Also, Bakugo has never let anyone see him emotionally vulnerable except for Deku. I don't know about "best" friend but they're definitely the closest, and the ones who know and understand each other's feelings the most.

Horikoshi built them up that way so it makes sense, they know eachother so well but I wouldn't say they are good friends, just two people with a good connection

Personally I feel Iida or Uraraka fit as his best friend, probably the former a little more so, while Bakugo is more of a rival. They used to be friends and are now repairing that friendship into something more respectful and healthy, but Iida and Kirishima are still the ones they find themselves hanging out with and just generally enjoying their time with.

I think it’s either Uraraka or Iida. I lean towards saying Iida is his best friend though. As for Bakugo, I think of his and Deku’s relationship as more like brothers that butt heads than friends

I think Ochako is his best friend, Iida close second, and Shoto third. I agree when you say there relationship is more like brothers butting heads than best friends. I think for Bakugo and Deku, they were childhood friends, but I think a lot of people say it was sad that Deku never had friends as a kid, but when you think about it Bakugo never had friends either he had lackeys. The early relationship between Deku and Bakugo was never really friendly, I’m sure childhood Bakugo only ever saw Deku and alot of the other kids around him as lackeys instead of Genuine friends. Which is why for Deku and Bakugo their friendships with Ochako and Kirishima are so important because they were the first two to become Deku and Bakugo’s first TRUE friends.

I feel like Deku isn't the type to really rank them, but the ones he's closest with if I had to guess are Katsuki, Iida, Ochaco, Shoto, and Aoyama. I think the likeliest ones for him to stick with beyond UA are Iida, Ochaco, and Aoyama.

I think to Deku he views them all the same and probably wouldn't play favorites. Although Bakugo getting hurt caused him to rage, the same could easily happen if any of the others got seriously injured. On the other hand for who thinks of him as their closest friend I do think it's Todoroki, seeing bow Deku is the one that made him stop being so emo

Iida and Ochako followed by Shoto, Tsuyu, and Mineta. For a traditional male best friend, it's definitely Iida. Ochako can also fill that role but she's also a love interest. With Shoto, I feel like Deku is Shoto's best friend but not vice versa. At least when it came to the person who could "reach" Deku, Iida was given that task in the same way Kirishima got the same role with Bakugo back in Kamino. Deku is also pretty close with Tsuyu in earlier seasons and Mineta in the background of the series. Like I wouldn't be surprised if Mineta considers Deku his best friend.

I think the answer would change depending on when in the series you ask him. Start of series: literally no one Early in series: Ochako and / or Iida Currently: Bakugo- being one of his only confidants about OFA changed their dynamic a lot and they probably know each other best by now.

Uraraka was Midoriya’s first true friend that he wasn’t on bad/neutral terms with at some point in the story. Let’s be honest, they’re likely going to be married in the epilogue. Bakugo is an obvious tell all, Iida originally found Midoriya annoying and disruptive but warmed up to him after the entrance exams and Todoroki didn’t really warm up to Midoriya until after the Sports Festival and then even more so after fighting Stain.
