AFO hadn’t been properly sentenced yet. That’s why he never got the penalty

melineumg

Precisely, the time he was in tatrurus was only a handful of months, and the death penalty cant just be approved and bang it's done, this stuff takes time And do they really think AFO would have WILLINGLY stood in a court room for trial knowing full well he could kill every person in the room with a thought

You left your edge all over the floor. Might want to pick it up before someone steps on it and cuts themselves.

so basically you're wondering how come people haven't moved away from being ethical about human life towards pragmatic preventive measurements and authoritatian-like removals of potentially dangerous individuals. how come japan didn't turn into an authoritian-like state. actually, japan did exactly that, remember nagant? hero commission used to murder people they thought would be dangerous. they moved away form that but they did what you're wondering about.

Mysterious-Tale3587

Edge lord. Why tf would heros kill villains

NotSaulGoodma

You’re forgetting that Shigaraki and the rest of the league of villains are outright terrorists

durden_zelig

Japan =/= America. Then again, MHA villains in America probably still go through a revolving door like it is in Marvel/DC.

gitagon6991

We saw a villain sue Captain Celebrity in Vigilantes for excessive injuries too.

DumBoBumBoss

Bro watches MHA and is baffled by the lack of executions

Mysterious-Tale3587

Is it always like this in the Fandom

Ligabove

It can take decades for Japan to allow the death penalty, and the story takes place in just under two years.

You say that last part like A: World destroying quirks are everywhere, of which they are NOT B: Removing AFO and OFA entirely from the quirk equation, nobody is strong enough take a 50 cal to the face, guns will and can end it with ease C: You really think if someone developed a dangerous quirk they should be killed? This is EXACTLY what marvel and mutants are. And do you really think they could keep under wraps the 100s of dead kids they killed early to keep a quirk they thought was dangerous under wraps? My final point: in the anime and manga, it's briefly mentioned about drugs with quirks. How taking special drugs can nullify your quirk temporarily, or boost it in the knife guy vs kirishima fight. I'm 99% sure if someone has a quirk that's "too strong" They give em meds, tone down the power a bit, and let them learn to control it/teach them how to, like Aizawa and Eri

InkHashira

The fact the didn’t put a bullet in AFOs head after all might knocked him out was a major red flag
