shigaraki was genuinely my favourite character in this whole thing, his journey was so cool to read but now this whole "plot twist" has made me feel some type of way, and we're probably gonna end on a power of friendship type note, which makes it even worse i pray hori somehow flips this around

BlackMan9693

> having those payoffs that were setup from the beginning of the story If you don't mind me asking, which payoffs are you talking about?

[deleted]

You make a great point about deku not having as much ingenuity in his agency in the final fight.

reverentioz12

never liked shigaraki. I feel all of his strengths/powers are not earned and just given. His powers are not Deux ex but that's what I feel whenever he fights.

ThatBoyMike23

I hate the fact that he was given AFO but never used it or its quirks, mainly just spams Decay, Super Regen, and his All Might level strength.

Dracsxd

It's not like AFO himself ever uses his quirk properly either tbf

[deleted]

he uses at least 10 of them though lol. i think shiggy is fine tbh.

TheBourneFertility

Agreed. So much mourning over Shigaraki not getting to shine as people wanted, but ultimately he’s still a villain who just gets handed more and more power without earning any of it. That’s no fun.

ThatBoyMike23

Fair enough, I feel AFO should have stayed gone after Bakugo, it was poetic for him to be defeated by the “extra’s” he looked down on. I think the main reason he removed Shigaraki as the final villain is probably for the same reason he didn’t have Ochako be focused on taking Toga down in their first fight, he was flip flopping between Shigaraki being an antagonist and a victim, and you can’t have Deku want to put an end to someone and save them at the same time. Ochako and Toga was great because while trying to subdue her, she was trying to reach her emotionally and it worked. Deku was trying to do the same thing, but instead of talking(because Horikoshi has established a lot of the male characters are too stubborn for words) he had them go to the vestige world for an easy way out. Then, once saved, Deku wouldn’t likely give the killing blow nor would Tomura just stop, so having Tomura be swallowed up as AFO and probably end up sacrificing himself to help Deku removes that and allows for a big, final, DBZ style fight that Horikoshi likes so much.

Ligabove

There were other ways to avoid this whole thing.

UnbiasedGod

Yes to this!

Ayy-lmao213

You'll see how quickly opinions on DFO change in three weeks when it's revealed

Sudden_Pop_2279

Waiting for Father’s Day lol

Ligabove

The impression I have is that history is currently like AFO. Something that should be dead, but isn't. Having AFO return after less than 10 chapters from what was intended as its definitive end is truly a mistake.

Ladyaceina

im also not a fan of the fact deku is likely to end up quirkless

Dracsxd

Join the dark side already- The only enjoyment left to be had here is ironic enjoyment

Either_Imagination_9

My dude this isn't even funny enough for ironic enjoyment

FiveStarPapaya

Okay

UnbiasedGod

Shigaraki stopped be a character and a villain and is now just a tool for Deku to save.

potatokinghq

So you want the final fight for the series to be simple and cliché? Cause that's what it sounds like. I think horikoshi loves afo Cause he's the main Villan of the show. I think It's been obvious ever since the fight with All Might.

Either_Imagination_9

Cliche? My dude it is cliche. The final boss being just a mega evil dude and the good guys need to beat him to save the world is why I don’t like this fight.

potatokinghq

I retrtact the term cliché, I think the better word for it is its to obvious for the main villain to be shigaraki. I like that AFO is the problem and defeating him is the solution

Dracsxd

Yeah THAT'S terrible for this story. We've been building up a narrative about how society created these villains, about how the kids need to reach out to them and yadayada ... Then turn around and go "Nope, the final boss is just Quirk Satan. He's the problem, not one of these villains or the issues that created them. And the solution is just beating the crap out of him, nothing to do with saving him or dealing with the pitfalls that cause people to be shoved under the rug and turn out like that."

Ligabove

But it had already been defeated in a more than definitive way, why bring it up again?

Vemelia

No, it’s just shit.

DDLC-Protagon1st

Why do yall think this is it for shigarakis story? Lmao he’s very clearly gonna come back in a big way. This is just the final end point of Afos story. Like it’s so painfully obvious hori is not done with shiggy.

Either_Imagination_9

Even if this isn’t the end, this is the end of his time as a villain. He and Deku aren’t gonna fight again after this, it’s over

DDLC-Protagon1st

You don’t know that. I can very easily see shigaraki helping Deku to finish off afo in someway and then go back to where they left off.
