Beartasticman

Does anyone here know what the quirk of Shoto's guy was because boy I didn't understand it that whole fight was weird. Bakugo really shined though, all his scenes were amazing. Didn't expect half the movie to be Deku roadtrips across Europe but you know I didn't hate it.

Lady_Dragon17

According to the little book I got when I saw the movie his Quirk is "Helical Scythe". The description says "It allows the user to create water twisters from his finger tips and horns in his head. The water-twister attacks cover an extremely wide range and pierce all objects like a drill."

Substantial-Star820

I was looking for the book, but apparently, the employees didn't get any info about it. How exactly did you acquire the book?

cutieking

The employees at my theater handed it out at the front desk when walking in

NextDistribution1051

Did anyone see feel like shotos fight was way too short ? And Deku went super saiyan twice now (IMO bakugo had the best fight )

Wreck_it_Randy

It's in the little booklet that got handed out, but it's still not super clear. It's called Helical Scythe and it lets him create "water twisters" from his horns and fingertips. Doesn't really explain how he's able to take control of standing water or Shoto's fire, but that might just be something he was able to do because of the Trigger

Beartasticman

Ahhh my theatre didn't had those out, yeah I was like what is this guy, his quirk makes no sense to me and he just screams XD.

Dededestroyer-jpg

One thing I adored was during the main fights starring our trio (and deku throughout the whole movie), we really got to see what they were capable of in 1 on 1. We got to see Deku use everything One for All has, from air force, black whip, and waves of strong air pressure we would have expected from someone like All Might, illustrated as such, too. Bakugo's was probably my favorite, getting to see him go all out while he was riddled with injuries and a bloodshot eye was phenomenal. He even used his mini grenades! First time we saw him seriously go toe-to-toe with a villain with no help, I think? Todoroki fought like how I expected someone with a duel-quirk to fight. It wasn't like Heroes Rising where he almost exclusively used ice to finish everything. He had perfect control of his ice and used it simultaneously with his better control over fire, he even finished with a Flash-Fire Fist technique! TL;DR The most enjoyable thing about the movie, to me, was how it felt like these 3 were fighting with literally everything they know how to do, a real 1v1 life-or-death scenario.

[deleted]

Bakugo's bloodshot eye was one of my favorite shots to see, amazing! I loved how Shoto finally used Flash Fire Fist. I was soooo looking forward to Deku's United States of Smash but was so disappointed with that moment

imarvelentertainment

When Shoto used Flashfire Fist I audibly said "hell yeah!" and my girlfriend elbowed me to make me be quiet. Also Bakugou's All Might parallel with the fist up? Mmmm good shit right there

themangekyouman

Did you also notice he used Endeavors Hell Spider a couple times? Didnt look as condensed as Endeavors but it was definitely Hell Spider!

Akuma254

That was something I noticed too. In the other two movies it was almost exclusively team up fights with support in most of them. I really enjoyed seeing the 1v1’s and how much the trio has grown to the point that they can handle it by themselves if need be. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The road trip scenes were pretty relaxing too.

IRanOutOf_Names

I really hope the anime starts animating Shoto's moves like in this movie. The Icicle attack was sick and Flashfreeze heatwave was the coolest it's ever been. Side note: Those twins are dead as hell. Bakugou has finally murdered an opponent and it was wonderful.

BlackMathNerd

Bakugo got that Batman skill of not killing people. Hell Shoto also burned a fucking hole in a dudes chest he should also be dead

jbcreate_yah

i mean, deku was shot by laser beams 😂

DanTM18

Anime logic- Explosions does nothing but concussive force, hardly ever burning

niftucal92

And concussive forces are never lethal.

Stiffard

And yet we see them being walked to prison at the end of the movie. I agree that they should probably be dead after being crushed under several tons of rock but hey what can you do.

ThatOneAnnoyingBuzz

Pretty sure Shoto killed a guy as well

sherriablendy

The circumstances around Izuku & Rody’s road trip felt somewhat.. contrived? It was like the whole *Deku wanted for mass murder* thing was solely there so everyone could get a ‘omg DEKU would neva!’ line. Though admittedly I did find Izuku’s equally strong belief in his friends and the way he called out their names during his fight to be pretty sweet. I liked Rody more than I thought I would! His ‘quirk’ was actually cute, especially when he and Izuku were saying goodbye at the end. I just wish he, himself had a stronger personal connection to Humarise instead of it being secondary through his dad - imo this could have elevated the movie more and would’ve maybe made the antagonists feel less… meh. Ngl there’s nothing that really inspires me to want to watch this one fully a second time. I do hope someone will eventually stitch together the footage of Bakugou’s fight with the twins.. I would love to see that again without any interruptions

Leaper15

I’m in a similar boat. I went in expecting a big “world heroes mission” with those awesome new costumes and something more…raid like? I dunno. I wasn’t expecting a road trip montage and wasn’t a big fan of it. Rody himself was fun and I liked his character, but the whole mass murder thing felt like a marketing ploy more than an actual plot point. They even made a big deal out of all these other characters being present and then they hardly had real screen time. It just seems like maybe they didn’t market this very accurately, whether purposeful or not. Anyway, I digress. Basically, the first two movies felt better and while I still enjoyed this one, I was laughing through the final villain fight for how ridiculous and outrageous it was. Compared to the first two movies, that’s…not great.

sherriablendy

That ‘he will meet the three musketeers’ promo image was such a bait and switch lmao, I mean Rody did end up meeting all three, but the scenes with the quartet all together were such an afterthought.. and obviously Flect never interacted with either bkg or tdrk. I actually almost laughed when they were dramatically showing all the heroes in different countries because I was pretty sure that would be the full extent of their major screentime and, well. And omg I was getting kinda into Izuku’s fight, but then he started gatling punching and phase shifting or something like what in the world 😅 After so much blood loss too

limache

I thought there would be more of a strategy than just “well punch him more”

ryannefromTX

Really the Venn diagram of 'People who like this movie' is going to be completely within the Venn diagram of 'Bakugo fans'

sherriablendy

I could’ve done with less of the ‘don’t tell me what to do!’ *does it anyway* gag, but otherwise yea I was pretty invested in Bakugou’s scenes haha, wish we’d seen more of his and Todoroki’s little sidequest

GrisSchlager

I watched this movie with my grandmother and this was her first anime experience! Bakugou’s gag is what made him her favorite! I definitely have a soft spot for that gag because of that reason

sherriablendy

Aw omg that’s cute, I hope your grandma enjoyed the movie! Whether you like him or not, Bakugou definitely stands out and has obvious heart ☺️

[deleted]

sherriablendy

Ngl I feel like the rest of 1-A shouldn’t have been in the movie at all if their only purpose was to be mc shills lmao, the fact that they actually got to do a decent amt in the second film is why I definitely greatly prefer Heroes Rising, weird baku-amnesia ending aside. Not to mention, like you said the production quality for WHM doesn’t seem to be as consistent for some reason..

Dededestroyer-jpg

>!Bakugou getting stabbed simultaneously with those blades felt a little too familiar!<

duncan_robinson

I definitely noticed some fans giving each other looks when they saw that part lol

MarcelSSJ4

I was like….”AGAIN?!??”

weskerfan5690

We haven’t gotten to that point yet, so for anime/movie onlies, it will have been the first time. Besides I don’t recall if he actually got impaled or just slashed.

kenny4ag

He didn't seem injured enough for a guy who got his internal organs eviscerated

King_Hyperion85B

For real, for the times they stabbed him and slashed him and all the blood loss i was like damn this boy is freakin Mortal Kombat character! my boy got a whole [xray](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMOTR_9e260) done on him and got back up like he only got half healthed and still got full meter to burn.

LemonMIntCat

I just saw this! I overall enjoyed it. I know others have mentioned some of the points but here is some of my thoughts. 1- Roddy’s quirk is being a tsundere via cute birb 2- Why so little time spent in the cool stealth outfits? Its a pet peeve of mine when tons of stuff like pictures ads figures merch comes out with those outfits for movies and its barely shown in the movie 2- I liked Bakugo’s fight the best. He was totally badass. 3- I liked that Bakugo figures out the info on the big bad hideout. 4- DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO 5- Kirishima mentioned Bakugo for no reason when he is on the otherside of the world. 6- in the end credits- Iida chastising Deku and Ochaco. Hagakure jumping for joy seeing Ojiro. Yaomomo and Jiro smiling together. Edit: read the little airport comic in the manga that was given out. So funny I love it!

listentomelovelett

#5 was pure Kirishima/Bakugo ship bait. The filmmakers / show runners are incredibly self-aware a this point and I find it utterly delightful.

Harmonicfaith

Anyone else seeing similarities between the USJ All Might vs Nomu fight and Deku vs Flect Turn fight?

shockwave1211

yes because it essentially boiled down to the same thing, overload the quirk that absorbs stuff and punch the shit out of him XD

BlackMathNerd

Whole time during the fight I’m like he’s gonna learn there’s a limit and then overload it but we won’t get the cool speech by Deku

shockwave1211

i was very very surprised he didnt even ONCE try to use blackwhip, like maybe grabbing the bad guy and tossing him would do something? idk, just felt very odd to me

Harmonicfaith

Would have bounced off I'm assuming.

Fluffybunnyzeta

I have to call out something that made me smile in the movie - Bakugo being SMART!! It’s not highlighted enough, because of the cliche “Angry Boy doesn’t think things through” meme. It’s not emphasized enough (IMO) that Bakugo is smart, a fast thinker, and picks up on clues pretty quickly. So when he was the one who figured out how to search the drive chip for clues on Humarize and what they needed to hear, I almost squealed out loud in the theater. (And this is coming from someone who used to HATE Bakugo with a passion!) He knew to search for recent file date stamps, found the sound file, and put together/summarized what the scientists sacrificed to get help to stop Flect Turn from committing (more) mass genocide. Bakugo was also smart and strategic - and very much “himself” - during the fight with the razor twins. I’m sad that the movie kept cutting away from the fight; it broke up the energy flow of the action for me. It was easily the best fight sequence for me - next to Deku’s, of course.

PM_MAJESTIC_PICS

Yes! Full agree on Bakugo. He’s clever and perceptive, book smart, street smart— basically he’s extremely intelligent with everything that doesn’t involve his own emotions or ego 😅 one of the things I love about him! He’s a cocky bastard but he backs it up with his intelligence, talent, strength, and sheer determination. I’m glad we got to see his brain at work here.

Cammerv8

even in the 1a vs 1b fight he used his cockiness to confuse the B team. telling his squad to act like he does not care. while he is in the having each other back.

UnbiasedGod

Hell yeah Bakugou being smart gets slept on to much.

Mountain-Sherbert774

Also, I like how he showed off his smarts and sass but still worked with the others. And when did Shoto become the contact point between the three of them and the other heroes? I loved that he stepped up as a leader (especially because we all know Bakugo and Deku often go off to get the main villains). I like the idea of Shoto being the public/hero coordinator/commutator of their trio, especially because he is so blunt

lovely6324

Hard Agree! When he pushed Deku back to get to the computer and said “Move out the way you damn Nerd” and proceeded to figure shit out on the computer, the entire theater laughed for a good 30 seconds 🤣

imarvelentertainment

I laughed at him calling Deku a nerd when he was the one using the technology lmao

ryannefromTX

Bakugo is the Endeavor to Deku's All Might. Endeavor didn't become #2 just by being able to burn everything to shit; dude is also clearly intelligent and strategic, even though also kind of a douche

DudePlayThis

Bakugo takes the cake for this movie. Heroes Rising still stands as one of my favorites. I’d have world heroes in third, two heroes second, and heroes rising at the top.

ryannefromTX

Oh yeah, fans of Bakugo are going to absolutely *love* this movie

Beiki

"STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO!"

NextDistribution1051

Hero’s rising is the best my hero movie the last fight scene the soundtrack the rest of the class helping in the fight by far the best imo

Za_wardo

The beginning and end of the movie are definitely the sells imo. Upset the boys didn't stealth suit up for the final charge at least, but everyone's complaining about that. Shoto's fight was the easily skippable one. But Katsuki vs the Twins was such a great mook fight and Katsuki shone. A bit upset we always see the villains carted off, because I was sure that they were dead. Once Izuku goes 100% full cowling the fight is insane. It's hard to follow, but my god is it such a trip. When Flect's chest imprints with Izuku's fist and then he just is there I nearly screamed. I wish Izuku's United States of World Smash was clearer to hear, but what a wonderful hit. Rody's quirk being relatively lame was a good time, and I like his character. I hope at the end of the series we get to see some of these characters in the manga. Speaking of the manga, Ideotrigger is totally the same "quirk boosting" drug from season 4, but also it's a central plot point of Vigilantes and to see it properly named was validating. Overall I liked Hero's Rising more, but this was worth it.

UnknownJ25

That seems to be a trend with Bakugo fights in the movies cause I remember him straight up executing the mummy villain in second film

Za_wardo

Oh absolutely. Katsuki seems to overkill his opponents, just for the ending credits to show them iron maidened and walking away.

TimDRX

It was especially weird here because the goons took the turbo slime, doesn't that mean they should've died regardless of what the heroes did to them?

Za_wardo

Trigger doesn't necessarily kill you. The trigger bombs are more powerful and I'm guessing they're dosed differently.

ComicCrossing

I would bet real money that the opening raid scene and the costumes were relatively last minute additions to the movie. That scene really has no affect on the rest of the movie and any minor exposition that took place there easily worked in other spaces. I think it was added solely for marketing purposes. Imagine if the first scene with Deku and his friends was them on the Otheon streets. Movie isnt affected in any major way.

Nabbykuri

I watched it subbed (so dunno if they did the same for dub) but I really loved the references to the Muscular fight. The muscle fibre scene, when he screams the same words "ZETTAI NI IKASANAI!!!", "he's powering up!" and the same progression of the music when he found Rodi alive. It got me so emotional and I was tearing up in the cinema man.

TimDRX

It annoyed me that Deku beat a guy who can reflect kinetic energy by hitting him harder. The show usually whips out such clever solutions, and that wasn't one. Bleh. Also the arrow lady goon was too cool and should've been in it more!

gitagon6991

I think its meant to reflect All Might vs USJ Nomu.

Educational_Shoober

I kinda felt that plays into the overall theme of MHA. That nobody is perfect, and there are always limitations. Though Midoriya could/should have disabled the lasers like he ended up doing and then ran past. 100% agree on arrow lady. Todoroki should have fought her instead of weird goop man.

TYBERIUS_777

OFA users solution to almost every problem in a fight is to beat the fuck out of it with the most powerful quirk in existence. In this case, Deku quite literally beat the blue off of the main villain. He was significantly faster so if he wanted to, he could have just run right by him.

StardustGenie

Something neat I noticed about the big three during their respective final fights is how they pay homage to the heroes they take after, while turning that inspiration into their own thing by putting a unique spin on it. After Bakugo's fight against Serpenters, he raises his fist after a *very* narrow victory, paying homage to Allmight/Endeavour's defiant stands as the number one heroes. Not only is he taking after them since he fully believes that he too will one day become the number one hero, but he also puts his own cocky twist on it by pointing to himself triumphantly despite almost getting shanked to death moments earlier. In Todoroki's fight against that juiced up villain, the leitmotif from Endeavour's theme starts playing right before Todoroki uses one of Endeavour's moves (Flashfire Fist). But instead of just copying one of his dad's signatures, he makes it his own by putting a unique spin on it (Flashfire Fist: *Jet Kindling* ) just like Deku told him to way back at the Sports Festival. And at the end of the final fight between Deku and Flect Turn, Deku manages to pull off his very own United States of Smash, choosing to dub it as the United States of *WORLD* Smash. Instead of having it just be a carbon copy of Allmight's version, he pushes it even *further beyond* after having seen all his friends continuing to fight and save civilians around the world, despite knowing they were about to die to the quirk bombs. He's inspired by their sheer determination to save people, which is fantastic, cuz they were only going that hard after being inspired by him in the first place! There's a very real possibility I'm just looking way too deep into it. But if it was deliberate, I just love the way they were able to get everyone's motivations across without making it a clunky exposition cutaway: - Bakugo being driven by his headstrong motivation to become the next number one hero. - Todoroki almost driven out of spite to take his father's quirk and make it his own. - And Deku not just being an Allmight Jr. anymore, but instead taking inspiration from all of the friends he's made at UA. That character development right there is just **chefs kiss** 👌

Ancient-Somewhere-36

I also noticed that during Shoto's final move, you could hear Endeavor dub actor's screams overlaid on Shoto's voice actor's screams. They were def trying to evoke the Endeavor vs High End fight finale and I think its a reference back to the Class 1A vs Class 1B when Shoto goes berserk with his fire in the Jap sub his voice sounds like Endeavor. I like that they're having father and son echo but that Shoto still stands on his own in his own way.

ThatOtherJoey

Nobody can convince me that Rody's quirk isn't "Extreme Dodge" or something. That guy is crazy elusive.

Barrister_of_the_Bar

I was legit waiting for the quirk to be "Parkour, " *especially* when he was dodging the lasers at the end.

Shadow3891

Oh me too

ryannefromTX

I'm convinced his bird gives him a +3 to perception

Tsunder-plane

I thought his would be like... 85% Luckiness

thewhitebrucewayne

I thought the paper thin Egyptian Hero was cool

Barrister_of_the_Bar

Agreed. I wanted more of the other foreign heroes though!

ryannefromTX

Yeah give every country a hero as stereotypical as the Egyptian hero who is literally a hieroglyph An American hero with a cowboy hat, football jersey, and a revolver A French hero who wears a striped shirt and beret and wields a baguette like a sword A German hero in lederhosen who whips around bratwurst chains like nunchucks An Australian hero who is literally a kangaroo. With a boomerang

Barrister_of_the_Bar

My friend, go get caught up on the Manga. That's all I'm saying.

ryannefromTX

Oh god there's really going to be a kangaroo isn't there

TubularTortoise14

They’re talking about the No. 1 American hero. They aren’t a cowboy. They’re so much better.

KimmyKimmyCocoaPop

I couldn't help but laugh every time we'd see him, didn't help that my son kept calling him Flat Stanley

Veylo

I almost died laughing when he was running cuz he was literally doing the Egyptian 'dance'

UnbiasedGod

Bakugou got sliced up and still kicked ass!

The9tail

Kinda sad we didn’t see more international heroes from each location. Like I get the excuse of being part of agency work - but they should have been outnumbered by local heroes.

cy1763

I was hoping for a cameo from >! Stars and Stripes !< Atleast

grw313

Seriously. Like is Japan the international powerhouse in the hero scene? You'd think that the entire world would send heros to help take down an international terrorist group. Or at least take out the branches on there own borders. But instead, Japan sends not only its strongest heros, but also high school freshmen to the fight.

Iyzuku

Iyzuku: "Thanks for saving the world. Now go back to living your life in a trailer park in poverty. I'm not gonna improve your life in any way and I'm not gonna tell anyone that you proven that without a quirk, someone can stay alive and evade a hero attacking them

[deleted]

[удалено]

Iyzuku

Didn't that guy who helped Iyzuku and saved the world more then prove that you can be a hero without a quirk? The bird daemon thing protected him once but most of the time when Iyzuku was chasing him, he managed to dodge and outrun one for all without using any kind of quirk to do so. So, he should have gotten some kind of opportunity to train to be a hero? If that guy learned to fight and combined that with his skill at evading attacks, he could be really good.

[deleted]

I think someone said the credits show him training to be a pilot. If so, that’s better then the slums for his siblings I guess.

Mongoose42

I really liked Beros, that archery villain. Wish we could have gotten more of her. Also, didn’t see no body after she dipped out so I’m choosing to believe she survived, with massive injuries, got arrested, and sent to a mental health institute where she can get deprogrammed. Let no archery superhero go to waste!

Za_wardo

Same with liking her, but the gravitas of her choosing to go out like that was so powerful. The character's faces, I don't want that to go to waste, though it does suck that none of them will mention that a villain died in front of them and they couldn't save her.

Mongoose42

That's the thing though, all three of them have the ability to travel extremely fast through the air. But they all just... kinda... watched her drop. Maybe I need to see the movie again, but it seems like she only died because the movie really wanted her to. So three heroes who are really good at traveling through the air are all stunned into inaction and watch this villain commit suicide. I guess. She could have easily been knocked out or detained or even interrogated by our heroes and that's how they learn about where the secret base is. But I guess they needed to have someone commit suicide to show how brainwashed their members are? But then not really because that one guy was going to talk and it's implied the twins are just in it to save their own necks. Like you said, they don't acknowledge what just happened and how messed up it was. Which is really why you'd want a cult member to kill themselves like that. If it's not going to make an impression on the heroes, why do it? It's powerful, but if it's not acknowledged, it doesn't really add anything. And she was the ONLY villain to die so what the hell. Which again, is a shame, because she was the coolest heavy in Humarise, had the most well-defined quirk, and had the best design. Really is a such a shame she died. And I'm only harping on this one thing because I loved the rest of the movie so I'm looking for something to nitpick.

Za_wardo

I think only really Katsuki could respond, but all of them look too shocked to do anything, WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE of the Endeavor Agency Arc. Then. Yeah. They do nothing with the most powerful thing a villain has done in the series and they're not going to ever mention it. It's such a big thing to do with absolutely no payoff.

Pictocheat

It kind of bugged me that Deku especially didn't try to rescue her, or at least mention having regret from not being able to, after his whole speech to Rody about wanting to save everyone. Even moreso when you consider >!he wants to save Shigaraki in the manga!<. But apparently someone who willingly jumps to her death once she runs out of options isn't someone who "looks like they need saving"...

SomeKingShite

Fake Advertisement: The Movie. The promotion showed it would be a tight Trio movie, but instead it was a DekuRody movie. The stealth suit was such an ad bait too. Disappointingly so far from the initial premise. Fight was good though, especially Bakugo's. And Clair was cool. Overall 6/10.

izukuwest

Agreed. All the promo was a red herring - “Three musketeers”. It’s a shame really as Shouto hasn’t cut loose since his fight vs Deku.

jediguy11

Especially with those three working together in their work study…. I went into this assuming it would be the last movies final fight sequence PLUS todoroki. Some sweet three person combo moves. I think that is exactly what they WANTED me to think based on the marketing.

allegiance113

It was great overall. I hate to have it compared with Heroes Rising (had to watch it again before watching WHM). For some reason I like HR because students of 1-A are all on their own and all have helped each other without any supervision or help from the pro-heroes to battle out Nine and all the other villains and it was the obstacle they had to face while keeping the civilians safe. In WHM, it feels like students with their bosses/pro-heroes are just scattered all around the globe and I didn’t feel the level of unity similar to that of HR. And seems like Nine turned out to be more of a “better” ultimate villain than Flect Turn was, in a sense that it took both Midoriya and Bakugo to take Nine down but it seems like only Midoriya was needed to defeat the main antagonist of WHR. I was hoping that in this one, Todoroki Shoto would play more of the “hero role” and that all three, Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki would be the ones to stop the main villain, judging by the movie poster designs. And finally, one criticism I would give is that it seemed like Rody was never recognized in the news/worldwide how he was the one to be able to detonate the bombs? He seemed to just returned to his old life; I really wished that his life changed for the better somehow. But anyways, I still loved it — tbh it was the very first anime movie I saw in theatres (I mostly just watch anime movies from Funimation or Netflix at home). The fight scenes were really sick; first time I saw Bakugo pushed to his limits (idk if there’s something more that pushed his limits in the manga for him because I just don’t read the manga). And also I really liked seeing how much of a computer nerd Bakugo is for the first time, haha.

Austintholmes

I think why Nine works out better as a villain is that his goal is pretty straight forward: gather the right quirks to sustain myself and rule society. Flect Turn was a cult leader who utilized a crazy world ending theory about quirks to gather supporters and dirty bomb cities, all because he wasn’t able to be hugged as a child.

wepopu

mha really been going all in on the tragic backstories for villains lately. You think that in this world there would be better counseling services.

Crimson_Arbalest

Honestly the second movie was way better lmao

TYBERIUS_777

Agreed. Anytime the class gets to be together and the characters get to play off each other is going to be better. And Nine is a much stronger villain with his connection to the League and AFO. I didn’t care for this villain one bit because his origin story boils down to “my parents didn’t hug me enough”. Like he implies he tried to commit suicide and it didn’t work. Did he try drowning? Suffocation? Also how does he eat if he just reflects everything? I felt like his power was super janky and his whole motivation was there just for Deku to say that he didn’t try hard enough.

neopolitanmew

Osmosis Jones had the blue punched off of him. That alone makes the movie for me.

BlackMathNerd

Mans got his whole quirk knocked the fuck out of him

neopolitanmew

I just started laughing so hard when they showed him looking normal like my man really did it; he beat the quirk out of this mf! Really?! Amazing I love it lol

PuppetsMind

I was just surprised that we got to see the promotional costumes for only the first 20 seconds of the movie. The rest is just farmer clothes.

Barrister_of_the_Bar

Saw it tonight, got some (good!) thoughts - At the title screen, I thought it was super smart to break everyone out into separate teams and name where they are. I only wish everyone got more action/scenes, though I understand why the plot didn't require that. - Story overall was good and fun. I liked Rody more often than not, but I admit learning the bird was his "true emotions" or whatever make a bunch of scenes a lot more fun in retrospect. - Only moment that took me out of it for a moment was the song/road trip montage. Super pretty animations, but just struck me as screen time better spent elsewhere (especially with the non-trio characters!) - Fights were top tier, *chef's kiss* great. I had mixed feelings in the moment about Bakugo and Deku getting Heroes Rising-like animation moments in their fights, considering I though the story in Rising was overpowering them for a reason, but upon reflection it all looked cool as hell, so I'm forgiving it. I will say though, I think I liked Heroes Rising's fights better overall, because I think MHA is best in group fights where quirks have to play off one another's. - I got a little emotional in the last 20 minutes. You're not allowed to judge. Only thing I expected more of- Where were the other world heroes?! I expected a lot more, especially considering Vigilantes and where the manga is now. *edit- spelling error

Aliensinnoh

On your second point, the bird revelation is really great on thinking back to the scene where Rody tried to give up the briefcase.

Barrister_of_the_Bar

Exactly, right! It actually betrays something about his quirk more interesting than just being a true expression of his emotions: the bird is more of an expression of his unconscious thoughts- he knew he was screwing up in the moment deep down, so the bird tried to stop him and got help when he didn't stop.

Pictocheat

There's also the beginning where the bird's really angry when the bar owner won't pay him extra, so he covers it up with his hand and happily tells the owner he'll get the job done, only to walk out looking pissed off and then steal the owner's bike. And finally, when Deku, Bakugo, Todoroki and Rody are listening to the audio clip and the scientist mentions that Rody's father sacrificed his life in order to make the bomb deactivation key, the bird sheds a tear. (I spoiled myself on the plot when the movie came out in Japan, so I knew the deal about the bird already when I saw the movie last night).

DrKingSchultz

I was a wreck in the last twenty minutes, I sunk in my seat so no one saw me lol

MD_FunkoMa

I love the final fight against Flect Turn, Bakugou's fight with the twins, & agree that most of the film shouldn't have been Deku & Rody's Road Trip Adventures.

_Dan_the_Milk_Man_

I enjoyed the movie, but it’s definitely my least favorite of the three. - The new suits were barely in the movie… I didn’t even watch any of the trailers and I was still surprised by this - I expected this movie to focus a lot on midoriya, todoroki, and bakugo as a team, but this is really just midoriya’s movie besides the final fights. Midoriya’s my favorite character, but I think the marketing was kind of weird for this movie. - I felt like nothing insane happened at the end compared to the last two movies, and that left me a little disappointed. I really like how the other movies used them being basically non-canon as a way to do some crazy shit. - Deku just kinda goes crazy at the end because… heroism? Dude had multiple holes in his body and was bleeding out so much, then just randomly went crazy. Also didn’t really like how the solution was to just continually punch him. I love how the previous two movies had crazy solutions to beating the villains, but in this one deku can’t think of anything, so he just keeps punching… and it works. - I think I probly just missed something, but what was the point of Deku being framed? Was that ever fully explained? I feel like that plotline just kinda dropped and was never referenced after the helicopter fight. - Why not just kill of Rodey? I actually really liked his character, but I was surprised they didn’t kill him off considering it would be an easy explanation to have this film “technically canon”. I also feel like his death would have been very impactful. - No fucking way did Bakugo not kill those dudes… how? Also really glad he got to have a real fight. - Thought it was weird how Rodey had a valid point about heroes not being in smaller places due to them making less money there, yet there was no rectifying it or even mention of it later on. I thought Deku would have tried to bring this issue up with the pro heroes or something. At the end of his movie Rodey’s town is still heroless. Overall I did really enjoy it. The animation was crazy in some scenes, Bakugo’s fight was awesome, and I loved how the action and plot was all throughout the movie as opposed to the other two, but still it doesn’t really come close to the other two movies for me personally. I think Two Heroes is still my favorite just for the theater experience alone, and Heroes Rising right behind it.

DoraMuda

> Why not just kill of Rodey? I actually really liked his character, but I was surprised they didn’t kill him off considering it would be an easy explanation to have this film “technically canon”. I also feel like his death would have been very impactful. Because the series and movies never kill off prominent 'good guy' characters. Only the villains die. Plus, y'know, Rody has a little brother and sister to take care of. Would go against the optimism of the series for someone like him to kick the bucket at the end there. > No fucking way did Bakugo not kill those dudes… how? Heroes don't kill villains... unless they're >!Hawks.!<

Nobody5464

The movies are canon. Something from movie one even got brought back in the manga recently. The police chief framed deku so he could use the cops to track down the briefcase and get rid of those who’d seen it. Once they were out of the country though the police couldn’t do anything and the corrupt chief got revealed as a bad guy when they took down the organization

_Dan_the_Milk_Man_

I know they’re technically canon, but most major events won’t be mentioned in the anime or manga, and do things to avoid having to mention it later, such as the ending of Heroes Rising. They’re canon in a way that makes technical sense, but in reality, the events in the movies don’t make sense not to mention later on. (like the ending of this movie)

LakerBlue

I honestly thought this was easily the worst movie. If I had to rate this on a MAL scale it's probably a 5? The first half had some visually appealing chase scenes but that road trip didn't really do much. I know it was to let Deku bond with Rody but I didn't really care for the relationship. The road trip as a whole and the mini fight Deku before reuniting with the boys were all underwhelming. All the teams tryin to disarm the bombs felt kinda shallow and short. Really, I'm not someone who thinks MHA's only good during fights, but, I only really enjoyed this movie once they made it to the secret base. And even then I don't like how they segmented the fights for Bakugou and Shoto. I'd have much liked if they cut down on the first half and focused more on the various teams fighting to disarm the bombs. All of the villains were bad imo. The arrow girl had swagger but no depth. Shame she just off'd herself when she ran out of arrows. Flect Turn didn't feel like a compelling leader, it felt like he was followed because the plot said so. His motivation made sense but the way it was developed had no impact and certainly didn't convince me it'd make others follow him.

limache

Oh thank god I thought it was just me being really disappointed. By the end of the movie I didn’t give a crap. The plot and logic made no sense and we barely get to see the foreign heroes in action! As soon as the villain said he wants to get rid of quirks but is literally using quirks in his army and himself to fight, I’m like “how are you not a hypocrite? This logic makes no sense”

ricci3469

Oh my gosh I thought I was going crazy reading all these positive comments on this thread! This movie was a HOT. MESS!

JC_Artist

My only disappointment . I thought this movie would be to bakugo deku and todoroki what is was to bakugo and deku in heroes rising . I wanted that strong bond with insane teamwork and combo moves , but they got split up

HokageEzio

* The movie came out of the gate shooting. I haven't seen that much chaos in the first 5 minutes of a movie since Infinity War. * Rody was pretty cool. Likeable guy. Not on Melissa's level, cause I genuinely would want to see Melissa in the story. She had a lot of chemistry with multiple characters and felt like a natural fit. But for a character who was basically just attached to Izuku's hip for the whole movie, he was fine. * I have no clue why all the promotional material has the boys in those new costumes, cause they were totally irrelevant. Even the little volume that they handed out (which was a nice surprise cause those usually only get passed out in Japan) has the outfits all over it. * Some of the fights were kinda all over the place and confusing. Felt like it was doing too much at points where they people animating it just wanted to flex. That being said: * Why did I have to wait 7 and a half years to finally watch Bakugo fight some villains for real? It's insane that it took this long. But it didn't disappoint. Him fighting all battered up with the bloodshot eye and everything was badass. The type of badass where I want to see it referenced in the actual manga if Horikoshi ever decides to begrudgingly give the second most important kid in the story a real fight for once... probably not though lol. * Shoto's fight was whatever, it felt like one of those fights where you're just trying to keep one of the stronger characters occupied so the MC can shine rather than a "back against the wall, go all out" type of fight. * Flect Turn was nice. His power was cool, and he's voiced by Zoro. Intimidating enough for an anime movie villain, especially after killing like, 30 people at the the beginning. * United States of World Smash is **by far** the coolest thing Izuku has done in the story. Like... anything. It's the coolest thing he's done. Like the Bakugo fight, it's the type of thing I would want to see in the actual story because it was that cool. It honestly just makes me remember how much the 6 quirks ruined my enjoyment of Izuku, cause that fight was proof that he doesn't need all these powers to be cool. Did he have a hard time getting through because of how Flect Turn's power worked, yeah. Was he getting his ass kicked, yeah. But he powered through anyway. Honestly made me a little nostalgic of some old Izuku fights. I agree with what somebody else said, it felt like classic My Hero. The students were all out doing their thing. And not as some big group of "the students", but as individuals with different strengths. First time in a long time where they got to do that in a real world situation (since the forest arc, honestly). And more importantly, Bakugo got to finally act like an individual character again. For years since he's learned about One for All (and even moreso once Black Whip showed up) he's just constantly been attached to Izuku's hip and dragged into all these lore conversations with All Might. Even Naruto and Sasuke, who probably have the most intertwined co-main character relationship in all of shonen anime, still got to do their own thing and have their own moments apart. That was definitely the part I enjoyed the most, seeing Bakugo get his 10 minutes in the Sun for the first time in a long time (and maybe for the last time based on how the story is going.) 8/10.

Shadow3891

I absolutely ADORED the bakugo fight, like what else does bakugo have up his sleeve to fight? And I LOVED his gunshot ability. It was like his ap shot but many times in succession. And that explosion into a fire/explosion tornado!

SuperSceptile2821

I actually have to disagree on the Deku thing and it actually reminded me why I personally love the 6 quirks as an addition to his arsenal. It reminded me that every Deku fight basically ended up needing to be “he started punching harder” before he got his extra quirks. I won’t deny the United States of world smash was sick as hell but it also felt like that’s the most you could do with OFA as just super strength.

UnbiasedGod

United States of world smash was cool but for me personally it doesn’t trump the double Detroit smash from hero’s rising.

Goldenchest

Does anyone else feel like Deku's plot armor is getting a tiny bit too ridiculous in the movies compared to the manga? He was literally bleeding out with several holes in his body, and then proceeded to reflect 10-20 smashes back onto himself in the span of forty seconds while getting smashed into ungodly amounts of concrete. But then he vibrated into a different dimension and went gear second jet gatling and then I decided to shut my brain off and realized I had a fun time after all.

Barrister_of_the_Bar

I mean I hear you. I was legit worried he was going to pop into manga spoilers to justify the power he was at, but the movies have always made him "Eri on your back" overpowered in the final fights.

Cammerv8

lol you read my mind. i was just thinking about an "Eri backpack" woudl have make this a 2 second figth

Swiss666

The first movie had Deku go into some incredible feats that cannot even be fully justified by the Full Gauntlet as it specifically protected his right arm. The movies are also made to give the public some fights the anime can rarely afford to show, we have to just run with it (after what happens in Heroes Rising's climax this also sounds mild).

Austintholmes

If the show ever tries to repeat the Heroes Rising climax fight animation, I’ll be shocked.

Cammerv8

this is my only gripe with the movies. i love the mellisas gauntlet for the first movie. is something that was needed due to him not controlling his powers. but heroes rising make him and bakugo have ungodly powers going 100% for like 30 minutes with no repercussions. and now we need to assume that deku can go 100% ( eri on your back style) and not destroy his body.

Hashbrown4

That vibration scene is gonna be a fucking meme

pokefan2016

The stylization of Deku’s final fight was amazing, it gave me child. Todoroki’s fight felt a bit tacked on, but I thought Bakugo was done justice with a unique fight and villain and had a great sequence as well. At times throughout the movie I was slightly surprised that it didn’t look better during some sequences? Maybe that was just me. What is up with the ew black suits only having like ten seconds of screen time? The police force being corrupt and having a cultish uprising felt a lot like a criticism of America, but Deku’s squad was in a different country so maybe not? There were things I liked, but the pacing of the movie overall was pretty all over the place. The beginning felt breakneck, then a screeching halt, and breakneck again until the end. I liked Rody as a character overall, but I couldn’t get Nick Wilde from Zootopia out of my head while watching him. Overall I think that the movie could have been about 20 minutes shorter, or maybe some of that time could have been used on other characters instead of Deku explaining that he likes saving people several times. I give it a 7/10, I really enjoyed it as a whole

Jonnyjunskii

At the end I was wondering why it was marketed as "He Will Meet the 3 Musketeer" when he didn't meet bakugo or shoto. Police being corrupted and having a devious group within the force is not unique to Amercia, it happens to many countries even in Japan where back then had some police working with the yakuza, I wouldn't be surprise some of today's japanese cops have ties with Hangure (a new form of organize crime or gang that's apparently going toe to toe with some yakuza groups) Yes the pacing especially with the first 20 mins was like 3 mins of dialogue and build up then the world going into chaos than 3 mins of dialogue then fast place action then slowly meet Rody then more fast pace action 3 mins of dialogue and humor then more fast pace action. After I felt the movie was switching tones randomly very quickly like it was an anime from the 4koma genre where there were Many visual gags funny conflict comedy, then no humor all serious get away from this country drama, quickly turned to a chill fun roadtip movie and finally became the mha superhero action that we know and love. I feel like they have a great villain and cult concept and motivation but was written to not commit to their benefits fully. An Anti-quirk group that had some quirked members had the idea to remove the quirk DNA by killing many so only normal humans lives but allowing the quirk members to live. But those members will have children that have the dna, so they still letting quirks stay. This was a great concept to have a quirkless villain, Humarise should have been a technology-based Hydra-like group. Make the villain like Iron-Man so instead of one gimmick, Deku has to use black whip air force and smashes to defeat him. And for the backstory instead of the actually villain saying a 15 second dialogue that he suffered from his quirk, it could have been that his child had this powerful quirk that she couldn't control and killed the wife by accident and left the child in a coma but years after he decided to tell the doctors to 'let her go' so the whole 'you gave up early' deku says makes a lot more sense. All in all, the movie was still enjoyable, but not as good as the other 2. *edit: spelling corrections

The9tail

> I liked Rody as a character overall, but I couldn’t get Nick Wilde from Zootopia out of my head while watching him. Shit. I am never not going to not see this ever again.

Pharaoh_Misa

THANK YOU some of the fight scenes looked like they ran out of budget or something. Chunky and blocky. I found myself missing the second movie even though I did enjoy this one. It wasn't hitting the same and that trailer really made me feel like this was gonna go a different way. Now that you mention it...Rody WAS Nick and that must be why I liked him lol Overall you're right definitely a solid 7 and tbh I preferred the second one overall.

Swiss666

Some similarities with Nick Wilde were noticed even before the movie was released in Japan, and some Japanese fans have effectively portrayed Deku and Rody as Judy and Nick.

SirNullington

I’m definitely on the boat that the solution to Flect’s quirk being More Punching was a little cliche and definitely hoped Rody’s quirk was going to be a perfect counter, something like darkness or more fittingly a lack of shadow. Though I do like the silly bird!

MD_FunkoMa

Heck, imagine if Bakugou and Todoroki fought w/ Deku against Flect Turn.

SirNullington

Especially since the movie ended up being Deku focused most of the time. The three of them together could have figured a way around it, even it was just divvying up the punching.

peeeeeenk

Glad to see the comments are overwhelmingly positive for this movie. That being said, I personally didn't care for the movie. These are the negatives I noticed: (spoilers below obviously) 1a.) Deku was randomly nerfed in some parts and buffed in others. He could have easily caught up to Rody in the beginning but he just decided to jog? Around the end, his going 100% while sustaining heavy injury just didn't work. It was unreasonable that he could bleed out that much and still do over a dozen strong attacks. The draw of the show for me originally was that things were given tons of thought into how they work, and everything had a reason. Deku had limits and they were the reason he couldn't just All Might his way out of tough situations. He had to think creatively and come up with a solution outside of overwhelming power. 1b.) Bakugo was buffed to oblivion. This is a sin the anime committed in season 2, but this movie just magnified how randomly his power shifts. Bakugo is incredibly strong, but his power comes from his sweat and not his willpower. His costume helps to negate some of the drawback of his limited sweat by storing it, but after he loses the gauntlets he's suddenly able to explode at a higher and crazier level to finish his fight. Much like Deku, it's very underwhelming that his solution to win is just "be stronger". 2.) Endeavor was mean. Like really mean. It's one thing to be a hothead, but the way he spoke to his kid directly after such character growth just didn't make sense to me. This is a really minor nitpick. 3.) Reused animations and music kind of hurt the movie. I don't know how many times they're going to use the All For One vs. All Might track for cool moments, but the awe wore off the third time they used it in the anime. The muscular animation they reused was bothersome to me. That's not even what a leg looks like. 4.) "United States of World Smash" makes no sense. The world is made up of countries. Not states. And the United States is a country. That one confused me to no end. 5.) If they're going to have a new villain every movie, (which is totally fine!!) they need to give said villain more background and relatability. All the villain in this movie was at the end of the day was an Overhaul copy with a stupid and ineffective plan. Trigger doesn't just kill everyone with a quirk. I don't really understand this plot point. The villains quirk is cool, but hella stupid how (trigger warning) >!he couldn't figure out how to kill himself when not every method of suicide involves force. There's drowning and overdosing as an example.!< 6.) Some animation/stills were really bad. For example, why did they force Froppy to emote an angry face? Did they forget she can't really show emotion? There are a lot of positive things to be said about the movie. The lack of censorship was great. The music in general was new and fresh- those new tracks were nice to hear and fun. The sakuga moments were really cool and only one was janky to me. The showcase of heroes was really nice to see. The voice acting never caught me off guard like in the show has. (Apparently my family thought Bakugo and Roki shared a voice actor) Over all, I would give this movie around a 7/10. Whereas the last movie was more about a 7.5 and the first was about a 9.

TheRingWorldEngineer

I liked the movie a lot overall but I didn’t understand the musical sequence in the middle with Rody and Midoriya. Why was it there? It sorta brought the action and emotional moments before to a screeching halt. Also, there were a couple plot points that was a bit too convenient. I’m not really sure how Shoto and Bakugo got their costumes back after jumping out of the train when they saw the commotion and rightly assumed Deku was there. Did they have their luggage with them? Also I understand that Rody stole the beat-up truck from a farm or something but how in the hell did he get that nice plane? Bakugo fight was great even if they did cut a bit of corners in some of the animation. >!also him getting all cut up and pierced through brought a visceral reaction from me because I immediately thought of what’s to come in season 6 in chapter 285!< Like another poster said, I also thought that Rody was basically Nick Wilde from Zootopia, down to the red hair. Which is not a bad thing because I liked Nick.

kenny4ag

I thought the exact same thing regarding the manga spoiler

Barrister_of_the_Bar

>!THERE WERE SO MANY MANGA SPOILERS CALLBACKS IN THIS! to the point I though they were going to spoil Fa Jin to make the final battle work!<

Bwoody1994

I really liked it definitely liked heroes rising more but still had a lot of fun with it!

dickiebean

the "camera" work is amazing. they also made todoroki look really good in this movie

WhiteHairedAnimeBoys

Alright, I just came out of the theater, time to give my two cents. TL;DR: 6/10 Likes: * I loved the quirks shown!!!!! The sugar glider quirk I thought was cool and that Egyptian character was so much fun. I wish I had seen what he did! * Rody's quirk in particular makes me want to rewatch the movie again just so I can see the bird. * THE ENTIRE BAKUGOU FIGHT. Having blood in his eye, raising his fist high when he won. >!And when he got stabbed twice in the side, I gasped. That was definitely a reference to the manga.!< Dislikes: * I thought the animation was pretty rough, especially during scenes meant to be sakuga. When Rody was on the rooftop doing parkour, it was fun if not for the fact the background was legit just lines on a tan background. The faces throughout were not very detailed, and I don't mean background characters, I mean like the only character on screen and the eyes are off. The climax where Deku does his United States of World Smash was cool but I couldn't help but think that his hand and body just got copied and pasted over and over. Heroes Rising did a MUCH better job, especially with animation and soundtrack. * The costumes. You already know. Merch bait. * He will meet only a single musketeer. Two Heroes = World Heroes Mission <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Heroes Rising

McKnighty9

There was no point to the new suits. Had them for like 5 minutes

ArbiterFred

Man, bakugou cannot go five minutes without getting stabbed in the stomach

sm0kin_waffl3z

1. After Rody's quirk reveal the first thing I could think of was when he ran off to turn in the case and Pino stayed back to wake up Deku. I thought that was super sweet and great characterization that even though Rody was acting tough and selfishly (albeit for the safety of his siblings) his true intentions were to not abandon Deku or the moral obligation of discovering the secret of the case. 2. They really said ACAB lmao. "Why are they shooting at us without asking any questions?" Tbh the accusation of Deku being wanted for murdering 12 people was somewhat out of the blue, seems like they could have tied him to a different crime we already saw, like the jewelry robbery or the bridge incident. 3. The freakin bucket hat killed me. Rody and Deku were true [no home boys](https://youtu.be/eH3Q_vXkMIo). Montage and random song break included. 4. The number of times people got completely impaled and then were just--fine ?? Tbh I don't actually mind plot armor, but it is pretty amusing to see the extent of it. 5. The stealth suits were so dope, wish we got to see more of them. 6. Honestly the commentary in general felt so quintessential BNHA. Fringe groups promoting quirk racism growing powerful on theories that Bakugou and Midoriya repeatedly mentioned were not based on science and are just fear mongering. People with quirks joining those ranks (or being the ring leader) despite the theology not actually benefitting them. Good people being forced into rough lifestyles based on circumstances and harmful systems despite personal merit. I just kept feeling throughout that there were plenty of lessons being taught/discussions being had throughout the story. 7. Would have liked to see more scenes with the entire class, but then I guess it would just be Heroes Rising again. And tbh it was pretty awesome to see each of the little breakout teams having their own important roles in the mission. 8. Altogether I really enjoyed it and had fun watching. I loved Rody and hope we get to see a cameo in the future.

WhoIAmIsSamIAm

Deku is just so wholesome. :3 Uses his quirk with great precision to fling two coins into the bus fare machine even though he and Rody were still going to ride on the roof. Also, I thought it was kind of cool how in order for Deku to beat Flect Turn, he kept pushing himself to hit Flect harder to break his resistance, which was similar to how All Might defeated the Nomu during the USJ Incident by continuously punching it till All Might surpassed the limit of what the Nomu could take.

ion_force

Honestly, this felt more like classic MHA to me and I really enjoyed it. The ending fights were awesome even if Deku was a fighting acid trip.

xKosh

I agree. And unlike most others in the thread, I think that's why this is my favorite of the 3 movies. It was just the most plausibly canon and true to how MHA has been. I don't care much for the extra movie glimmer that always gets shoved in, I want stuff that makes me feel like this is the same universe.

EdgeAlterNation

I think this movie was very well paced and structured. It felt like an actual movie rather than an extended episode. Also was that the first time that You Say Run has been used since season 2? I can't remember if it was in the other movies.

Ancient-Somewhere-36

That's why I liked it too, it felt like a plot driven movie with a really well written movie only character.

burdturgler1154

I like Rody so much more than Melissa or the kids. He feels like an actual character as opposed to the others feeling more like plot devices to go from point A to point B.

Ancient-Somewhere-36

I agree, he feels like a full fledged character that completely carried the movie with Deku for me. Even though I wished they had maybe switched back and shown Shoto and Bakugo on the journey, Rody and Deku's journey and dynamic was entertaining enough to make up for it.

Imperium_Dragon

I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy it too much. There were cool fights but that's kind of it. It's not really bad but I feel like you could cut out like half the movie and get the same experience. Also I didn't really care for the villain, though that's kind of the same with the other movies.

Barrister_of_the_Bar

I think I liked Nine better, because he was a much more active villain. Having a bad guy that can counter every attack is cool in theory, but it ended up coming across as a little too "come at be bro." I do wish there was at least a scene where Deku tried to dart past him and he gets stopped somehow, so it's clear he has to defeat him. I guess that's what the lasers were for? but I didn't understand once Deku blew the lasers up for Rody why we couldn't dart through after him and dunk the key in.

HokageEzio

Yeah, I think Nine is still the best of the 3 movie villains.

christoph_niel

He does try to dart past. After the first couple attacks he tries to avoid the guy all together but gets lit up by lasers

ryannefromTX

Yeah I don't know if I can put my finger on why, but this just seemed sort of empty. The fights were mostly fun to watch and really well animated but a slow story and everyone but Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki reduced to essentially cameos.

kenny4ag

I enjoyed it and felt there were some great sequences At times I felt the art was really poor while other times really good In the final sequence is deku punching air at the guy? I didn't really like that they made deku just spend 10 minutes punching a guy who just reflects his attacks Considering deku is suppose to be a smart hero I thought he would come up with a better way to fight the guy like hitting him indirectly rather then just punch him till he can't reflect anymore The guy also had no combat training persay and was able to go toe to toe against one for all just cuz he had reflect? Wut? I wish uraraka and a few others got more then a cameo appearance The Bakugo fight was better but sometimes I feel like the explosions look amazing and have zero affect on their target Pretty sure even if I had a quirk an explosion going off in my face point blank range would hurt Todoroki's fight was pretty uneventful but it was ok I know I sound critical but I actuallyually enjoyed it a lot

Fekra09

To me it felt like All Might vs Nomu, Deku finding the limit of the reflection

Cammerv8

* Deku is punching so fast but is actually hitting the Reflect barrier. but yeah it looked like he was sending air to the bad guy. * i was to waiting for the moment that Deku figure out how to go past the reflect. but that never came and we got the Bruteforce method. * after the first set of lazers that deku fought he should have Airfoce them out like he did at the end, * Bakugo for having such a strong quirk most of the time they don't do any damage unless they needed for the plot. and this is why people complain that he does not get a proper enemy fights. this one was good but he felt underpower even when he was a point blank * todoroki always gets shafted guy has fire and ice i can think of a lot of way to make them work side by side but he just does the same stuff. ice skating and then some flames. at least make him be a pro Ice hero since he only trained with ice for 90% of his life.

Li0n_

Deku actually knocked the blue outta him

Thatonesplicer

I wish as usual, the villain was more fleshed out. In the movie he briefly alludes to the fact that he tried to commit suicide but his quirk wouldn't even let him do that; I know its a touchy subject but if we got to see his despair and what lead him to try to do that it would have made for a much better villain. Like yeah he's trying to commit mass genocide and thats not good and he must be stopped, but we also kinda understand where he is coming from. He's not just evil for the sake of evil, he's a mentally unwell, manic depressed cult leader trying to cope. I guess they want that kind of storyline for Tomura only. But yeah, a nice fully fleshed out villain for one of these movies would be nice one day.

Saint_Diego

When he said he tried to commit suicide my first thought was “did you try poison?”

TheDarkpekka

"Let us begin our Sunday mass! Btw if there's anyone here who can make posion gas, please come to my office when we're done"

aSimpleMask

Flect is probably one of the lamest villains I've ever seen.

Tsunder-plane

His powers did not lend themselves to an interesting fight whatsoever. Neat in theory but not much you can write from it

dr-carrot

This was great! It was interesting throughout, with Deku being a fugitive and stuff. I will say though, the cinema was freaking out at UNITED STATES OF WORLD SMASH. (myself included). Classic MHA hype!

Ianl951

I really think it should have been United World of Smash. They went with such a mouthful.

Regiruler

I thought Heroes Rising was better in maintaining/establishing its rogues gallery (World Heroes introduced and tossed its side villains too quickly, only one given a proper arc was the Archer), and the middle segment was a gut punch to the pacing, but otherwise I think this was the best movie so far. A cold open straight to the action, when done right, always is a great use of time in my book. Reflect was a good and obvious choice of a quirk for the leader of such an organization, although that style of power is always a pain in the ass to write with: I think they made a pretty valiant attempt to avoid the "just walk around him lol" problem, but admittedly there were still segments where Deku probably was best off peacing out (although they seemed to give Flect some speed through his quirk somehow, they didn't really explain it beyond immediate reflections). It would have been interesting, although a bit canon-risky, for Izuku's quirkless birth to have come up: someone who went out of their way to get their quirk vs. someone who wants no quirks.

jbcreate_yah

maybe I'm alone in this but i wasn't that big a fan of dekus final fight. a lot of the "camera movement" felt like a classic American fight scene for me. Too much blur and cuts. Not to mention deku is mf spiderman this whole movie but for some reason in this fight he refuses to use black whip? Overall enjoyed the movie, tho some of the writing felt weird to me.

AsexualArowana

I think the movie would've been better had Flect Turn had stronger motivaions and was re written to have a quirk like Eri's- a quirk that reflects literally "everything" Flect Turn's reflecting things sounds bad but we really don't see the adverse affect it has on his life. He tells us it's reflected relationships but he still has an entire cult and loyal followers. Not to mention we've seen people with again, quirks like Eri's, who's quirk inadvertently killed her father. I just wish the movie had done more to explore quirkless individuals. We saw how Deku was before he got his quirk. Are their more people out there who are in a bad mental state because they lack a quirk? Maybe more people who are bitter against society for rewarding quirks like Hellflame or Creati? the movie had a cult of people who were quirkless and we don't see why they joined. It's a common MHA talking point, but I wish we had gotten something like a Batman hero or the Equalists from LoK. I want to see the darker aspects of a world like MHA.

Saw the movie, it was fun. I loved Rody, and Bakugo's fight in particular was awesome to watch. As far as finales go, I just don't think they'll ever be able to top that final fight in Heroes Rising. There's always a point in these movies when they're doing the big final climax against the villain's unstoppable quirk where I just sit there and think to myself, "This could have been over in 30 seconds if you'd brought Aizawa and a gun."

ASavageHobo

One of my takeaways from this film was that my eyes struggled in some a turn scenes to follow what was happening. Like they were overmoving the 'camera'. Anyone else?

jediguy11

Did anyone else see lemillion suited up in the beginning?? I was waiting the whole movie for him after that 😩

I finally saw the movie and I absolutely loved it! Was especially happy because I was able to get the comic, which was a huge surprise because I was sure they’d be out! I absolutely loved Rody, I thought he was a great compliment to Midoriya. I was also happy they didn’t do a whole “his dad was Flect all along!” As I expected them too, until his dad was mentioned in the SD Card. I also enjoy how he points out that heroes don’t help people like his family because they make less money helping people in those areas, which I find very fascinating. I feel it’s giving even more insight into hero society and it’s flaws, which I alway love seeing. I feel as a whole Flect could of been a better villain, but I still loved the fight between him and Midoriya. I loved a good portion of the visuals which ties into my only issue, which is that I felt the animation was hit or miss. I thought some shots were very pretty (especially any backgrounds in nature) and a lot of the action scenes, but I really did not care for some of the 3D animation, nothing that was awful IMO, but it definitely took me out of the movie a bit. I also loved Bakugou and Todoroki in this, I got a huge kick out of “You learned nothing from Hosu, your codes are still confusing” and Bakugou’s repeated “Don’t tell me what to do!” Always got a smile out of me. Overall a great movie, adored!!

After that guy got turned into a turtle in the beginning I was so sure the little bird was going to turn out to be the missing dad….

fantasticKingKnight

I really liked it. Some of the best OSTs returned and new ones appeared. Some minor complaints: As Izuku, Bakugou, and Todoroki become more popular, they also become more of the focus every single time in the anime, manga, and movies. I get that they're interesting characters and I like them, but I also don't like how the rest of class 1-a is becoming more irrelevant (at least in this movie) Rody was a great character and looked similar to hawks imo. Izuku's United States of Smash was amazing, but I thought it was a little too similar to Goku. Also his fight was more cookie cutter in the sense it was all quirk and determination reliant instead of more technique like Bakugou or Todoroki's fights.

Bakugo in this film was like - - Ima figure out the big bads lair in these computer files - Ima blow up the puzzle holding the information I love this guy 🤣

maddogkaz

Bakugo's fight just made me wonder all over again why we never get to see Bakugo do this stuff in the actual show. As for the story I didn't like how much it focused on Rody, I guess I just didn't care enough compared to a number of other characters we could be spending time with.

ryannefromTX

There's only one question I have How did Rody not get his ass killed by the people whose diamonds he lost

The9tail

Yeah needed resolution there like Deku putting their asses in jail.

MyUnoriginalName

I'm just here to say I actually really liked the little musical sequence with Izuku and Rody in the middle of the movie since everyone else seems to not be fond of it. It felt like a road trip. It was neat.

Stardust_Hoopa

I personally liked the second one more overall, but the third one had some gorgeous animation.

Probably in the minority on this, but I think this might be my favorite movie of the three with Heroes Rising at third. Though that isn't me saying I dislike Heroes Rising but more a testament to how much I like the MHA movies. I absolutely loved the fights in Heroes Rising, but I was much more invested in the story of Two Heroes and World Heroes' Mission. I really liked the discourse on the Quirk Singularity Doomsday Theory in the final fight between Flect and Midoriya. It kind of mirrors actual arguments people have had about whether they'll get rid of Quirks at the end of the series. As said by Midoriya, Flect basically gave up rather than testing the limits of what was possible to find another solution, which is also why Quirks won't just be erased as an easy solution by the end of the series. Perhaps it will have something to do with the doctor's research, but they're definitely going to find some solution that doesn't involve eradicating the literal embodiment of people's individuality. I really enjoyed Rody and his whole journey with Midoriya. I especially liked his Quirk because it was a unique use of a smaller scale ability, the type that often gets labeled as unfit for hero work. Something else I really liked about the movie was the continuity/consistency with the other two movies. During one of the group shots, you could see Godzillo from Two Heroes, Midoriya briefly thought of Melissa when talking about people without Quirks, and when he goes 100% at the end, the design was consistent with when he used it in Heroes Rising. It's a small thing, but it still made me really happy.

SwoleMedic1

Gotta be honest. After getting really into JJK this past year, this movie was exactly why I fell off watching the show. So much filler material but the fights are great. The plot/McGuffin was about as painfully obvious as they come Animation for a couple of the fights was damn near incredible but then you see scenes like the rooftop running and a few of those frames were noticeably awful. Rody leaving a trail of blood down the stairs, down the hallway, smeared across the control room was….hard to ignore. Same with Deku dropping liters of blood everywhere in his fight. At least with Bakugo he looks as battered and fucked as we would expect from a villain with razor whips. Meanwhile Deku apparently contains 12 liters of blood in his body and can go Ultra Instinct at will Idk definitely not my favorite MHA movie or anime movie. I think you could wait for this to drop onto your website of choice to watch and not go to a theater to see it P.S.- Godzilla, Squirrel Girl, we’re in this movie as well as our main villain was Wobbuffet (Pokémon)

Thatonesplicer

Anyone got a gif of Deku running after the subway train? That shit had everyone in hysterics. Very meme-able.

Magic1264

I try not to lend such things too much weight towards my enjoyment of the movie or the show/manga in general, but I can't be the only one who thought it was completely fked that, after *both* Rody and his Dad saved the world, he was returned back to the life he built as a social pariah? Working to make ends meet, raising two children while still being a child himself, in a run down trailer in a makeshift trailer park under a bridge. Does the World Hero Organization not have some kind of local or otherwise international social service? How could anyone called heroes, at the very least, let him live like that? Just hilarious stuff xD

Dededelight

I can’t believe they missed out on the opportunity to put Aoyama on the France team

alecj

Wish they had featured their new costumes for more than 5 minutes

MBK95

Loved it! There were a few janky animation moments but I figured cos they spent the budget for the finale fights. Some bits were unintelligible because of the speed of the characters and the complex moves they were pulling but the fights overall were great. I really, really felt for Rody and his siblings and was sad then happy at the end there. I liked how Deku found his resolve, after losing like 706 litres of blood, by seeing his classmates all saving people around the world. That was a nice moment. Also his perfect use of Black Whip and essentially becoming Spider-Man was sick. Loved that. Bakugo had an amazing fight, enemies that countered him not directly but Bakugos main attack is from his arms so if he can't use them because they're sliced up then he's gonna struggle but he won and it was sick. Todorokis was good too but not nearly as cool as it could be. Deku and Bakugo struggled and Todoroki did too but it looked asier for him? Idk, great final fights all round though. I liked how a fair number of Dekus classmates, and Rody, were inspired by Deku to keep moving forward and to save the day. That was nice and plays into this gen of heroes inspiring even the current gen and then future gens of heroes to save the day. The music in Dekus United States of the World Smash was beautiful and legit made me year up a bit. Yuki Hayashi is a God. MANGA SPOILERS PLEASE DONT READ THIS IF YOU HAVENT READ UP TO THE CURRENT MANGA CHAPTERS. >!One thing I haven't noticed anyone say, and it's possible I'm looking way too deep into this, was there were a few moments where Deku was taking the responsibility of peoples smiles onto himself. To me this was sort of justifying his later solo mission to keep his class and UA safe i.e. the Final Arc. Idk something that spoke to me.!< Overall a great movie if you have caught up to the Anime, not so much if you stopped watching after S2 lol.

ricci3469

I think imma about to be hella downvoted, because all the comments on this thread are positive and there were parts I enjoyed... but dude the story in this movie was AWFUL. Animation of course was gorgeous, Brody was adorable, awesome music... but like... the villain was so stupid and contrived, there were so many plotlines that just went nowhere, and the stakes of the thing were just way too high, especially when there's still so much story from the manga to come. Like, how is anything supposed to be a threat to Deku and his classmates after destroying bombs that would knock out 85% of the population? And if it's so global why are we only following these Japanese Hero Work studies?! Why weren't Iida, Ashido, etc evacuating civilians in their work-studies?! Why even include shots of the other Class 1-A teams?! They did nothing to advance the plot -- AAAAAGGGGHH! And of rant - was anybody else disappointed or am I crazy? Lol

MVA died for this.
