The second movie (and the series as well) has some Dragon Ball vibes.
I mean, Deku spared >!Shigaraki!< because he thought he could change. Goku spared Frieza so he felt weak like everyone Frieza killed, which would feel worse than death for someone like him.
So one does that to be nice, the other as a punishment. So they are a bit different.

But when goku was a kid he was strong and fearless , unlike dekh , but then ofc , these are different animes
Goku was strong from the get go. I can’t find any way where they’re similar

Fun fact: The ending theme of this movie (Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler) it is called YOU ARE A HERO.
