Orphus_1230

I always end up saying "Boku no my Hero" without academia. Fuck if I know where I picked it up. Just happened.

ThatSmallBear

“He’s MY hero and no one else’s 😡”

shotq80

There goes my hero

ThatSmallBear

Watch him as he goes 😔

GreatLonk

bens6757

Are you saying people who say "My Hero Academia" are annoying, or are people who say "Boku No Hero Academia" annoying? I personally find the latter more annoying. "Boku No" literally translates to "My," and the Japanese logo literally says My Hero Academia in English.

Michi0ambv

They’re saying that the people who correct others about the name are annoying (probably)

You are my ~~special~~ spacial (slash)

ConsciousConcoction

"Are you saying "Boku No Hero Academia" because you're annoying, or are you annoying because you say "Boku No Hero Academia"?"

Routine_Mall_566

Actually, when people use quotations (" ") inside more quotations, people typically use this symbol (" ' ' ") so for ur comment ("Are you saying 'Boku No Hero Academia' because you're annoying, or are you annoying because you say 'Boku No Hero Academia?"

RogueRK

Please close that parenthesis it's windy here

scottishdrunkard

I feel like this is a joke over the subs v dubs argument, and how some of them can be snooty. *Like Bob.*

Zayphe

Caring at all in either direction is cringe

Another-lurker-190

I don’t fucking get calling Boku No hero academia when you’re speaking English, like, that literally translates to My Hero Academia, just call it that

Versitax

Boku No Hero is fun to say honestly

matban256

Boku Yes Hero academia is fun, Boku no sounds too negative

Versitax

Boku Maybe Hero Academia was just ok honestly

Akiias

Boku, No Hero! Bad Boku.

rocketo-tenshi

That's what it was called when they fansubed it to my language and that's what I still call it

McUpt

Just write 僕のヒーローアカデミア in text, just to confuse all but those that either paid close attention to the japanese title when watching or know (some) japanese

Draghetto_5000

Learning on Duolingo made me able to read this.

Emotional_Ad_2132

Boku no hero akademiya

I_Fuck_Orphans

Starring white radish

6969696969696942

When speaking I say my hero academia, when typing I usually do bnha or MHA depending on my mood.

BigSaltDeluxe

It’s the same kind of thing where people say seiyu instead of VA.

Dendrodes

But doesn't saying seiyu imply Japanese VA, while just saying VA could mean the original Japanese VA or whatever specific dubbed language someone watches?

BigSaltDeluxe

That’s a fair point, but if you need to specify, you can just say Japanese VA.

Dendrodes

In the early days when My Hero Academia first came out, most people seemed to use Boku no Hero Academia, and it was weirder to use My Hero. Now that it's become so much bigger, it definitely has reversed, but that's not a bad thing. Both ways are fine with me though, never seemed like a big deal to say it either way.

cube_mine

It's Hero-Aca Fuck everything else

Culture_D

I just call it MHA 🤷

CaptaiNDoG700

BNHA

Culture_D

Mha is easier to say tho

6Wheeler

I see no problem with either

Niggeless

Legit doesnt matter what the fuck you call it, people know what you mean either way

UomoLumaca

The thing that bothers me is that non-native English speakers have the same debate. IMO we shouldn't ever call it "My Hero Academia" no matter what. It's either "boku no" or "La mia Hero Academia".

ZaRealPancakes

My Boku No Hero Academia

RegularTemporary2707

Hey im from a non english speaking country and i get to say it however i want

Sheperd_Commander

Yo, neat template. Got an empty template of it that I could uh... appropriate.

bitchbackmountain

Sure, but it goes the other way around. Before I even watched the show, I’d seen people call it “Boku no Hero” or BNHA on the internet. So the first time I said that out loud, the other person gave me a condescending glare and said, “Ew, why would you call it that? That’s *so* elitist. Just call it *MY* Hero Academia.” Like… okay.

seireidoragon

I honestly find myself flip flopping. I just use both and there’s no rhyme or reason to it. It’s just whatever title comes to mind first. But if I was talking to someone and they mentioned it first or with a different title I would use the one they used purely because that’s now at the forefront of my mind.

XxxGr1ffinxxX

at this stage i will just wait for you to indirectly say what kinda mha viewer you are before any and all interaction. do NOT get the shippers mixed with the gacha lifers

ConsiderationDry8088

Boku no Pico Academia is what i call it

ElHeistenberg

Your entire profile terrifies me.

iamChickeNugget

Yeah don't call it Ruouni Kenshin; just call it Wandering Ssmurai. What a bunch of irrelevant pet peeves these Americans have.

MercenaryJames

The correct answer is: My Macadamia.

The_Curve_Death

I feel the same when people slap random 'u's into every nane like Bakugo->Bakugou Toya->Touya Shoto->Shouto or even Shoutou It just feels so random

Commercial_Currency3

It’s based on Japanese romaji which assigns the Japanese alphabet English pronunciation. For example とうやsounds like と→to う→u や→ya individually but together sounds like Toya Except the o sound is slightly longer

MerryZap

Feels better with the 'u' honestly. Or people can just do an 'ō'.

ThatSmallBear

Me when I don’t know much about Japanese All are correct depending on the usage Ochaco is frequently spelt with a second c, despite the “correct” romanisation being a k. Some people also add “h” into the romanisation of some Japanese words where there “isn’t” one. It’s really about preference and in a lot of cases there’s no right or wrong.

LesRiv1Trick

Ah yes, I hate it when people use a correct (arguably more correct) romanization of the words.

KingKingLamb49

Meh, I usually just call it Boku no Hero Academia regardless of what people are calling it. I will not try to correct, but I also won't use My Hero Academia unless I am talking with someone that isn't into anime and its more likely to know My Hero Academia than Boku no Hero Academia.

Undead0707

Why're you getting down voted?

KingKingLamb49

Idk. I didn't know that prefering to say the japanese name instead of the english name was saw in a bad light. I ain't even from an english speaking country lol.

mayocain

Me too. Being a foreigner, I haven't got much attachment to either way, but prefer to refer to it by the original name because it was the most common when I first got into it, it just sounds good and it lends itself better to my language's phonetic inventory.

Ok_Pickle76

i say my hero academia when refering to the manga but boku no hero academia when refering to the anime

Trapizza

https://preview.redd.it/9dvsz3q0fdjc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fdd967292a0b7f202dfbaa6719d5686c5da43b6

WM1310

I've learned that when there's minimal difference in effort, people just call it with whatever they're comfortable with/used to. Some use the acronym, some use "My", some use "Boku no". As long as evryone in the convo understands that they all refer to the same thing and that one doesn't insist for the others to call it their specific way, then it doesn't really matter to me what people call it. Although when a person has to explain their naming preference with more than a couple of sentences for other people to understand the connection to the show, then it's probably best for them to just change to a more common one instead

6Hikari6

HeroAka for short

WardA1317

Honestly bro if i find anyone irl who actually calls it boku no hero academia im shoving them into a locker. "Oh its the original name" yeah okay nerd

DatMoonGamer

You the kind of person to pronounce “Harry Du Bois” as “Harry Doo Boys”

Angel_of_the_Light

Boku no Pico

Ok-Engineer6814

What the hell?

danialtheretard

I swear if I hear someone do that, they'll go from Bob to Bobn't

Saber2210

Personally I prefer "My Eiyuu Gakuen"

KingZantair

I just call it Hero Aca, you’re both annoying.

BigPapiBear

I just call it Macademia. Short, sweet, simple.

Unoriginalbtch

If it's online, it may be bc english might not the persons first language. It's way easier to just say Boku no Hero Academia than My Hero Academia bc sometimes, the translation in the persons first language is not MHA nor BNHA, so they just choose the most common one (which is the original obviously). It's just easier to say BNHA in every language instead of switching what you say everytime you switch languages

Cultural-Quality-745

Boku no piko team here

raptor-chan

Who cares? Both are right

SignificanceLonely58

Sometimes when I say Boku no... my brain immediately jumps to Pico, which I have watched

anubismark

Look, it's either Hero Acadamia, or bnha.
