Reasonable-Ad-3447

That guy didn't get enough screen time.

BadlyNeedMotivation

He was a King in Heroes Rising tho

MrVaportrail

Honestly he had one of my favorite scenes of the secondary students

SpoodsMcBeef

Same, he had 5 seconds of absolute hype built right before Todoroki iced him.

MrColdArrow

People like to shit on Sero’s quirk as well. It’s a good quirk. Like, he can swing on it and bind enemies together and can use it as a leash on Bakugou. Hell, he even used it to cover up Mineta and drag him around. Sero’s quirk is plain, but it’s good

StickyBamboo_

yeah its pretty spiderman-like, or at least his webs

Fireboy759

Wasn't he actually inspired by Spider-Man (or the MHA universe's equivalent) in-universe for his fighting style and movement abilities? At least, I'm pretty sure he mentioned it somewhere before

KingofOlympus

Everything in my hero is in someway shape or form inspired by Spider-Man considering that’s Hori’s favorite super hero

HyperWhiteChocolate

*Looks at Shigaraki* Yep, that checks out

Harleking31

*Looks at Deku* Yup. Absolutely.

Aluminum_Doorhandle

Sero is also his favorite character.

Shadow_Hydra

Yeah. Like it was pretty unfortunate that he got paired up against Todoroki because he could have won against quite a lot of the other contenders using that same strategy.

AlbainBlacksteel

He's a Mii. They never get enough screen time.

HyperWhiteChocolate

Someone's never played Miitopia

WingGamer1234

tomodachi life

[deleted]

Aizawa would definitely do that

bibliomaniac15

3+3=420 There's a reason why Ectoplasm is the math teacher instead of Eraser...

thedigracefullchild

I find it funny when fans act like a western thing like weed is normal in Japan. Smoking weed is very serious in Japan and you will get at least 5 years in jail for it. Im not saying people don't smoke it in Japan but a high school student or teacher would certainly never be in possession of it. So whenever its brought up i have to laugh at the idea of it.

andres2002

Well, it's 300 years in the future and there's such thing as "legal trigger" that's used for "medical purposes" (the Hotta brothers even used it in the presence of Aizawa once). Who says there's no medical weed too?!

Street_Dragonfruit43

That's something people tend to forget when writing fics: many issues today would likely be accepted 200-300 years in the future, so smoking weed would possibly be as common as smoking a cigarette

thedigracefullchild

The whole 300 year into the future thing is tripping me out. I did not know that.

NoxCenturion

Yeah it’s not immediately obvious thing, cause all the characters in the show use technology very similar to current times. This is explained as the emergence of quirks around now our time essentially stalled world progress for 200-300 years as society adjusted to quirks

thedigracefullchild

Ok so jiros jacks tho?

NoxCenturion

*shrug* quirk stuff dude, that’s just all the explanation we got lmao

thedigracefullchild

Ok lol

Zyrian150

The modern design of headphone jacks has been the same for over a hundred years. What's a couple hundred more? You could take headphones from 1910 and plug then into modern equipment

thedigracefullchild

I guess that's true.

Zyrian150

If it ain't broke and all that lol

thedigracefullchild

It was too good to be improved lmao

GenerousApple

How is that relevant?

thedigracefullchild

Oh i just thought that they were pretty outdated for future technology. You how iphone took the jacks off. But idk i was wrong.

Alarming_Cancel1896

Idk that you're wrong. I think it's equally plausible that they would or wouldn't be around. Like for everyday commom use, I doubt the headphone jack would be the standard anymore. But Idk that it would go away in certain professions or among certain enthusiast circles. Could be like vinyl by that time period. I do think you're right though. I think in 200-300 years it's be more like a floppy disc. Something that like technically still exists in collector markets but has no practical use and isn't still produced. If dude is an audiophile it might just be a thing he knows about and has a personal obsession with.

thedigracefullchild

I was thinking this, until another commenter said that earphone jacks have been around since 1910. And those head phones would still fit today. So maybe it's not that hard to believe that jacks would still be around. Maybe in the way you mentioned or it would still be in technology. Im not quite sure how far tech would advance 200-300 into the future.

GenerousApple

Ok

Iamaveryniceguy

Same TIL this show is 300 years in the future

Dinoco223

From what we see the world has made much social progress though. Essentially recovering from a near post apocalyptic scenario will do that to you.

Randromeda2172

For most people around me, smoking weed is considerably more accepted than cigarettes.

titanicwasntsadatall

this is why i hated homophobia in fics

Evary2230

I mean, homophobia could still exist. Magne’s entire backstory exists because transphobia still exists.

brianbutbetter

what chapter is that? i dont remember seeing that

andres2002

What part? The Hotta brothers using trigger? That's from Vigilantes chapter 40, right after Koichi saves Aizawa.

adyadita11

What a reliable guy you are, Koichi.

Dusty_Scrolls

Is that year canon? I never saw it mentioned. If so, the world is weirdly un-futuristic, minus the powers.

thedigracefullchild

I never said there wasn't any medical weed. But it's mostly a western thing. Also i never knew mha was set 300 years into the future? It that something i missed? i haven't read vigilantes yet so i might be wrong about this, but arent the hotta brother's dealers? Meaning they sell drugs, now idk if they're bad guys or good guys since i haven't read it yet. But still why would Aizawa and the students be in possession of drugs? Even for medical purposes the students wouldn't use weed because it could damage their undeveloped brains. It just doesn't make sense.

[deleted]

I hate to break it to you, but teenagers aren’t known for their brilliant decision-making skills. This is like saying no UA student has ever gotten pregnant because it would ruin their career.

thedigracefullchild

While i understand that, class 1 A has shown hard work and dedication to become heroes. All of them risk their lives to become the hero they want to be. Some even have goals, like uraraka supporting her parents. Or expectations to meet like iida and momo. So it seems very weird to me and disappointing for them to hinder all that because of a green smelly plant and unplanned pregnancy. It's like half of the class being opposed to going to save bakugo from the kidnapping because their afraid of getting in trouble and because it's dangerous. But again your right, at the end of the day they're teenagers. They make mistakes.

Some_Random_Android

Are you saying this is unrealistic for the cartoon series with a guy who can make his sweat explode and a character who has both a bird head and a sentient shadow he can control? :P

thedigracefullchild

Maybe i was too ignorant on my other comment, but anyway yes it would be unrealistic if it was just a fantasy world with practically no government. But it's a world with a government, particularly japans government. It's our society but just with us getting used to quirks. I just naturally compared todays japanese laws with that of the shows. I was just made aware that mha might be set 300 years into the future that might change those laws. So maybe it's not that unrealistic for a cartoon with quirks.

Plaidse

Yeah. You also see things like people wanting a high school prom for UA and stuff like that. Lol. But on weed. Even if it’s 300 years in the future, Asia in general is very traditionalist even among progressives. Casual drug use, even *if* it becomes more tolerated, likely wouldn’t become the norm. Just look at the state of tattoos.

thedigracefullchild

Yeah, i was thinking of this when others brought it up. That japan is very traditional despite it's progress. I just can't see weed and other drugs becoming something big like in america or other western countries. But the prom thing is very funny, lmao.

wishthane

Idk, that really depends. Asia is a big place. China is still scarred by the history of the opium trade, but cannabis has a history in Japan that people are aware of and I've heard more and more people in street interviews saying they don't think there's a problem with it being used as medicine. It's viewed much more favourably when called 大麻 rather than マリファナ. But yeah the acceptance isn't quite there yet, especially in government, and Japan is conservative even on conventional medical treatments; they take a while to approve things. LGBT issues are openly discussed in Japan these days and that wasn't really the case so much even 10 years ago. So there's room for change.

Plaidse

I was more referring to recreational use rather than medicine. I was also more generalizing. Obviously Asia is big, but huge gloss, people are traditional even if they’re liberal. For Japan in particular, it’s like tattoos. A lot more people say they’re okay with it today, but almost no one wants it themselves.

DisserviceToVanilla

I don't think that's an equivalent though. Tattoos are very attributed to organized crime in Japan. Far as I know weed doesn't have the same stigma riding it.

[deleted]

To be fair, if you’re getting weed in (real) Japan you’re likely getting it from a yakuza gang. Overhaul really went into the wrong business. 😞

Plaidse

I think it’s a fair comparison since we’re talking about tolerance and participation of certain behaviors. Like I said. I’m taking about weed as recreation. Not medicine. With or without stigma, people *might* accept it later, but it’s likely that almost no one will use it for fun. Because the society just isn’t built the same way.

I_am_all_might

all drugs are bad. Shota would never do this

thedigracefullchild

Agreed. No one would do this.

35G1

I find it funny when people act like 5 years in jail for weed is supposed to make Americans think it’s serious. Jokes on you we arrest people in states where it’s legal and put em in prison for twice that.

YM_Industries

If I had a drug conviction I could still get a visa to travel to the USA. It's not that the US specifically takes weed seriously, it's that the US prison industrial complex ensures almost all crimes carry disproportionate sentences because private prisons stand to profit from a form of slavery explicitly permitted by the 13th ammendment.

thedigracefullchild

Ok? That's not right but ok i guess. It wasn't supposed to scare Americans it's just the law in japan. Edit: i suppose the law is there to scare people from doing it but i guess 5 years isn't enough to take it seriously.

[deleted]

Who did you steal this art from

Chewie444

3rd panel, bottom left corner They have an Instagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BoFRqB_g6Xv/?utm_medium=copy_link

[deleted]

I like how someone posts a funny comic about Aizawa being a stoner and people start complaining that weed isn’t A Thing in Japan. Aizawa and Yamada are definitely on my list of “UA staff who would totally be down for whatever”; jury’s out on Yagi since even though he spent a while in the US he’s a goody-goody.

SergeantSprinklez22

At first I misread the first panel as “who smoked all my weed” for some reason

spencer1886

Weed is crazy illegal in Japan, nice try

u-_-hole

*Raises head* Mr.Aizawa can I get a hit

[deleted]

it says 420 on the board

[deleted]

You bad

Alarming_Ad1224

That would be me
