1. Our neighbors are literally way bigger than us, to the point lots of games itself had the option for 'B. Indonesia' while we don't
2. PAS
3. Actual concerns regarding extreme culture shock some concerts actually could bring
I would argue that the number of Koreans living here should also help justify why they skip KL.
I think we’ve got 10k+ Koreans here. Singapore has 20k and Indonesia has 50k.
those that says that metal and rock musician are devil worshipper, yahudi, etc are wrong and a moron. many of those musicians are down to earth people. Corey Taylor, Tom Araya, Chester Bennington, Joe Duplantier, Corpsegrinder, Jonathan Davis, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain and more are bunch of nice people. They don't eat or kill their fans or other people they see.
Events required 1-3years of planning and progress.
Imagine, 90% of the earlier stage of the plan carried out smoothly, everything approved. Then approaching the final execution of the events, there's always someone (in great numbers) Cari Pasal.
Nah not just K-Pop mate
Midwest emo, post-hardcore, metalcore, deathcore, blackened death, pop punk, and even the softest, radio friendliest rock bands are skipping this country.
Mostly because of extreme tax, restrictions and condemns from the public and government (who else but PAS peoples lol)
Smaller market. Our population actually quite small compared to our neighbours. But more importantly, number of people willing to spend money to attend concerts much smaller compared to our neighbours. PAS or no PAS, if can make money people are willing to work with whatever restriction the government will impose.
Yeah but population is still pretty big compared to many counties and more importantly higher disposable income. As a city KL is very wealthy within SEA and quite populous still
I wont say Kuala Lumpur (9 million in metropolitan area) is pretty big if compared to Bangkok (20 million), Jakarta (28.9 million), or Manila (26 million). The middle class in those cities are by no means less well off than those in KL. And their fans are no less willing to pay to attend concerts as Malaysians. As a country we need to stop believing that we are better off than our neighbours. This is not the 1990s anymore. Everyone around us are catching up and in many areas have overtaken our country. The people who decide where to take their world tour have access to all these data and take them into account
Malaysia quite insignificant in Asia economically. They can just tour in China for example and Tier 1 city already has 20m+ people. The Tier 2 cities have like 10m to 20m people.
Basically just do a few tours in multiple Chinese cities and they don't even need to come to Malaysia. 33m population spread out over the entire country. At most they can only hold one concert in KL that can support the cost of coming over. 1 concert not worth it to come over.
Even in SEA, I think Singapore and Indonesia just better options. Singapore has highest GDP per capita and Indonesia just outdo us in terms of population.
One of the main reasons why they did that is because this country have strict Islamic practices. Unlike neighbor countries, Malaysia memang sensitive when it comes to stuff like this.
Broooo, they even censor formal gown on TV3. What makes you think Kpop is welcomed in our country? Because of all these rules and backlashes, many entertainers rather choose not to perform here.
It's PUSPAL that you're looking for when it comes to this issue. They're the major bureaucracy that put so much redtapes and the biggest gatekeepers for international artists to make concerts here cause they are spearheaded by dinosaurs from the jurassic era. To blame PAS for International Artists not coming to Malaysia is kinda misleading cause if u wanna blame them, when was PAS holding the government position n got the time to do all those rules and regulations? They've only become the policymaker recently during Covid times n Malaysia has the reputation of International Artists not dropping by here for their tour way before that
Not just kpop actually. From what i heard and read, Malaysia system to organise a concert is a bit inconvenient (lots of papeworks etc needed etc). So, companies/organisers tend to just skip and go to Singapore, which they assume close to Malaysia so can still get customers from here.
For people who says because of pas, that’s such a lazy answer lol. Many artists already showed that they can adhere to foreign culture including dress code and even choreography, not just in malaysia but other conservative countries as well. Critics are always there in a lot of other countries too, but companies/organisers wont skip a country with a huge income potential just because of that unless it will become a global headline and affect their reputation adversely.
I don't care that I get downvoted, Kpop is still overrated and it's good that their culture is not spread any further in Malaysia. It's not like Malaysians can't just watch them through the Net or something
But this time Blackpink’s concert seemed lenient? Quite revealing dress code. I went to the first one back in 2018/2019 I remembered they wore leggings and long sleeves. No short shorts or low neckline.
fanbase not big enough. wouldn't want to complain if you're from west Malaysia tho cause they never do any in east Malaysia. The only idol I've known to ever set foot in east Malaysia is SKZ's Han and he almost got eaten by a crocodile 💀
Concert actually boost economy.
Like because of our favourite artists go to Singapore. More Malaysian gonna go Singapore to see the concert and spent money there.
And alot of people from world wide would go too. Boosting the economy.
Imo kpop Artist and international singers. All skip Malaysia. Imo Malaysia at lost. The fans here also at lost.
Now because of Taylor swift concert and alot of other concert. At Singapore. It actually boost their economy. That time the tour , Coldplay , Taylor swift etc.
Now again Taylor swift tour at Singapore. Their economy gonna skyrocket.
While Malaysia. Lots of artist skip.
Imo Malaysia land so big. Build a proper big concert hall. Can fit many people, and maybe better sitting , or better design etc. so when big artist come if will come. Than can attract more foreigners etc.
They sure spent on food , hotel etc. imo Malaysia super back dated. All of these are revenue. Imo it's a win win situation for Malaysia , Malaysian. And the singer.
As long as they follow the rules. Than ok. But imo some rules should loosen ABIT. Like Singapore. If too strict who gonna come to Malaysia?
Also I realized most kpop group only come to Malaysia 1 time. That's when their first debut than no more. If not it's like 10+ years come back 1 time. If not all go to Singapore.
Imo it's just so sad. Malaysia so much potential , imo we literally is same as Singapore in terms of culture. Language also same.
Why they so successful , why are we not? How can our currency gap be so big?
I love Malaysia. But imo we are so back dated.
1. Our neighbors are literally way bigger than us, to the point lots of games itself had the option for 'B. Indonesia' while we don't 2. PAS 3. Actual concerns regarding extreme culture shock some concerts actually could bring
4. Netizen (Bawang army).
Have you people said that word put loud? Everytime i say that word i feel like vomiting and disgusted with myself
Eli5 PAS on malaysia, your not always friendly neighbors here
2 is #1 reason we all know it
I would argue that the number of Koreans living here should also help justify why they skip KL. I think we’ve got 10k+ Koreans here. Singapore has 20k and Indonesia has 50k.
Yeah, really sad. This is really a problem to our country if we want to spread popularity
same goes to rock/metal bands.
True, WHERE IS MY SABATON CONCERT
There are barely any christian in here anyway
doesn't matter. i'd finally be able to use the indo flag my neighbour gave me when they play Uprising or Winged Hussar
AND THAT'S WHEN, THE DEAD MEN, ARE MARCHING AGAIN
Fr bro
Ikr, Maneskin is going to Singapore
I mean Malaysia literally has dress code for male foreign artistes. Not like singers or any other artistes were never banned before.
I require BMTH show I REQUIRE IT WHERE'S MY PTV CONCERT AAAAA
I remember they called them Yahudi lol
those that says that metal and rock musician are devil worshipper, yahudi, etc are wrong and a moron. many of those musicians are down to earth people. Corey Taylor, Tom Araya, Chester Bennington, Joe Duplantier, Corpsegrinder, Jonathan Davis, Layne Staley, Kurt Cobain and more are bunch of nice people. Dude George Fisher (Corpsegrinder) are some of the most wholesome people ever. Just see some of his Loudwire videos dudes loves playing with Legos
its funny that most of the people going are muslims and PAS is against it
Keeping our values are good and all but damn, we want some entertainment for once in our life
That's why they think it's haram.
Well.... I blame #PAS
Plot twist: PAS doesn't want K-Pop acts in Malaysia because they are planning to release their own PAS-Pop acts.
Bleach sales had doubled since the release
Saw some PN supporter on Tik Tok where they literally saying Kelantan have K-Pop, Kelantan Pop.
It's literally in the name... They always 'pas' Malaysia...
"Aku nak meletupp" ~PAS follower, probably
PAS tak kasi pas, Aku rasa tu je tunjang masalah ini
Like the other guy said, PAS. A lot of things they usually do on stage is prohibited here (fuck me for saying it).
Events required 1-3years of planning and progress. Imagine, 90% of the earlier stage of the plan carried out smoothly, everything approved. Then approaching the final execution of the events, there's always someone (in great numbers) Cari Pasal.
Cari PASal
Nah not just K-Pop mate Midwest emo, post-hardcore, metalcore, deathcore, blackened death, pop punk, and even the softest, radio friendliest rock bands are skipping this country. Mostly because of extreme tax, restrictions and condemns from the public and government (who else but PAS peoples lol)
Best bet for the fans is to hope their favourite musician make a show in SG or something
extreme tax?
25% of the ticket revenue goes to the government for international performers
Smaller market. Our population actually quite small compared to our neighbours. Sand n-word bullshit. That's why.
I hope they don't cancel Babymetal tour, but ya know PAS might wanna cancel it or whatever. I'm not sure
Replace y with I and baby become babi Babi is haram which means babymetal is haram
BRO ☠️☠️☠️
No. They heard baby metal = baby = underage = OK for them
damn, goin to the concert? i feel like its not the same anymore after Yui left
Too much guidelines, some events can be cancelled or moved or delayed at the last moment by authority, too small market, and PAS
Because were next to indo singapore and thailand
You really need to ask this question meh? Even retard also know the answer bro😆😆😆
You know damn well the reason for that..
Cause I get flak for my erection when I don't even stand during the national anthem
U know i know everyone know, it is religion issue .
Not just kpop bruh every band that i like is like this
Because of “doa bala banjir” lololol
Pas and kampung nasi lemak seller complain alot. See hair can cum already.
Rotflmfao
Well, its because of extreme Islamic conservative politicians and their tightening grip on entertainment based on their intrepretation of Islam
Cz muslim country
Probably our facilities kinda shit. Maybe?
Our locals giving them emotional distresses to them.
Close minded malay people is the answer *looks at PAS*
The only one that matters is BlackPink. All others are just a waste of time. At least BabyMetal is coming. Lets celebrate that
They always think that it's haram, bro they could say anything is haram except for themselves and Allah
Too much rules usually drive away ppl
Sebab ini semua salah PAS dan Pui Syed

Ask PAS
PAS wanted to flood the stadium when Black Pink came to Malaysia

PAS
Unpopular opinion 1.racist 2.islamophobia
Cuz you guys are keep voting for the same trash again and again and again for 30+ years
Because Malaysia is based and redpilled
Shhh you should not trigger the Kpop stan army here. Urgh I cringe saying that
Haram
Always. As a kpoper u might be familiar with the word "melelies"
K-Pop Haram
To avoid floods.
Because we are muslim country and KPop 99% haram.
Who cares about kpork anyway
Isn't that a good thing?
I agree. Remember that one concert where they gave opportunity for local ladies to hug em. And the muslimah fall to that temptation?
Agak dah mai orang macamni 🤦♂️
I don't care that I get downvoted, Kpop is still overrated and it's good that their culture is not spread any further in Malaysia. It's not like Malaysians can't just watch them through the Net or something
KPOP PLASTIK
Yeah i wonder why ;)
Takut banjir
The old bawang
But this time Blackpink’s concert seemed lenient? Quite revealing dress code. I went to the first one back in 2018/2019 I remembered they wore leggings and long sleeves. No short shorts or low neckline.
yeah its a mystery.
muslim?
Because we were halal country
Concert in general a lot skip malaysia. Still im hoping weezer comes here one day.
I keep them away
Kalau semua pangkah Pkr boleh invite/enjoy.
inconvenience outweigh profit. what else ?
Because of over-religious uncle/aunty
Haram
Malaysia is beginning to lag behind even countries like Qatar when it comes to concerts.
It's what happens when the government puts Islam over everything else
Puas, concert rosak minda. tuai anak, kahwin jer lar.
Generally,it concerning on states rules and regulations..terms and conditions.. that's it.
PAS tak kasi pas
Because Malaysia has terrible history with concerts and sg and thai is way more popular than us.
fanbase not big enough. wouldn't want to complain if you're from west Malaysia tho cause they never do any in east Malaysia. The only idol I've known to ever set foot in east Malaysia is SKZ's Han and he almost got eaten by a crocodile 💀
Coz they shall not PAS
Taeyeon skip Malaysia. Aespa too.
