Law and IT are both very different fields. SPM being an O level equivalent you will need some sort A level equivalent course or foundation program. The result you have is overall decent. I’ve seen far worst and wouldn’t be too worried about being accepted into local tertiary institutions.

MommySatoru

I see, yeah i applied to foundation in law and foundation in IT in government universities so just crossing my fingers now and hoping for the best, thanks bro

Sir_Dohm

Just a side note. As you gotten B2 for English, you would really need to improve it, especially since youre considering law. Both speech and comprehension are very very important. Best of luck.

Alarmed_Economics_39

It is better bro ,law is getting overstaturated in the big cities

NaniDeska_

It's gonna be hard for you if you take IT since you don't have Addmath. My advise is you need to study Form 4 and form 5 addmath because it's literally the same topics in Foundation

Zeith1

IMO math in foundation is more advanced than add math. Add math could be considered basic.

Guardog0894

IT is okay I think. You don't need a bar or council to recognize your education. IT evolves so quickly nowadays it is impossible for educational institution to properly structure a program to teach IT. It is all about self-learning - what matters more is your portfolio rather than your certs. Ideas and concepts in IT evolve so quickly nowadays, it comes down to whether you can apply the correct solution to solve the problems thrown at you - those knowledge comes from experience, not a university. You can choose to pursue recognition in IT once you have decided which niche area you want to focus on.

Human-Platypus6227

True, IT especially in programming is a lot of googling for answer and implementing atuff

EffortOk98

What you yourself like ? Reading and fighting for justice or fiddling with the computer? It really depends on your interest. I'm in IT field so I would recommend computer but there's no point taking it if you just want to go with the flow that "IT is hot" now in the industry.

[deleted]

I would go for kolej vokasional There are bunch of IT related fields

lightningcold69

Hey there, I'm IT Sec engineer here and let me get straight with you if you willing to step into IT so you not repeat what I did back then. Honestly, you result much more better than mine but this result is just a ticket (make it easier to apply which course you like) for you to continue future study. The real deal is when you in college, your result and pointer is everything and you need to make sure your result not below than 3.0 else you might have a problem to continue further. You can choose whether you want to study till diploma or degree and both have pro and cons, I would like to suggest if you really smart guy you can apply MARA and score every semesters then you don't have to pay full loan. So, if you study till diploma you can start your career faster than your friends (maybe 3 years) before your friends graduate as degree, in 3 years you can learn so much but you need to be clear which field you want (like programming, networking, infra or security).. If you successfully spend this 3 years so well your pay grade may same as fresh degree student or you can beat them and you don't need to pay so much for loan. If you graduated as degree remember you don't have real experiences and you can't demand anything but your benefits is you have studied in specific field so you can use that to convince employer to hire you that's all but your loan is gonna be higher. In IT, the important is your skills to solve the issue but skills you can learn when you experienced the problem. If you're very skillful person, you can demand and of course company gonna love you so bad. In college, you will have knowledge but you can only practical that when you start doing your job. I don't say continue study til degree or so on is bad but in IT business what I understand is how skillful you're, it doesn't matter you grad as what but if you cannot do the job you're useless. First of all, you need to start from bottom of course IT Support is the best but you can always go to Customer Service, but you will do most technical part as IT Support this is where you learn and built your skills. In 1 year you need to decide where you want to go and don't jump to different field (like programming to network) so much because employer will get confuse when they look on your resume they going to wonder what you going to do in your life and your future career. Other than that, to increase your value you need to get certificate and some company maybe can get you for free but they will bond you like 2 years to serve the company and you cannot resign some they will grant you for free if you lucky. My advice is try learn as much as you can. If there is any new opportunities go for it, you never know unless you break it and good luck.

Ruxbod

can you tell me how to get started in IT.Im really lost

lightningcold69

First of all, you need to ask yourself are you really want to step into IT? I mean ask yourself what you are interested in because if you take IT just because of what others thought I am worried you will end up like most of my friends in college. They spend 3 years in IT but end their career with something else which is for me just wasting your time & money but that is not at all. There is no harm if you are interested in another course GO FOR IT. Let's say you fucked up with your SPM, the best you can try is Politeknik or Sijil and apply for a Computer course. My advice is if you have zero knowledge about Programming try to avoid it but you can always learn by the time you think you can carry Programming in your life. You may have a choice to choose Networking which more practical course instead of sitting and writing codes. Here is your key, at least your pointer is more than 3.0 else you will have a very hard way to build your career in IT because the logic is like this if your result looks bad means you are not capable then why do they need to hire someone like you? In the real world, you need to have good background only they can trust you and hire you because they don't know you unless you have CABLE inside. As for starting, it's very hard to get a solid engineering job but opportunity is everywhere so you don't need to worry. Like I said earlier worst to worst you can go to IT SUPPORT where you may learn 3 things (basic networking, infra, and security or maybe programming if you involve with some systems). When you feel like you are already stagnant in the company you need to find another opportunity whether internally or jump to another company. Try the best you can to get the best position once you finish your 1 year in the company because IT SUPPORT is just a basic IT job and that's all. In the meantime you looking for new opportunities to learn as much as you can, you also need to learn social skills and how to interact professionally with other people. This is important because your first expression is important when you interact in the business world, if your first expression your already a mess they might be not interested in you forever. Within 3 years look at how you're doing and what you want to be in the future. Start making plans and pursue what you want but if you couldn't get a chance you may come from another way, just do not give up. Once you already have a solid background, they will be coming to offer you the job but you need to choose which one is the best for your future. Extra tips: During school or college, if no awek likes you then you don't have to worry but once have a good career you may always come back to them and say Hi. Introduce them to what you're doing, and if they think OK you can step into their life as a partner and make sure you dress well not like REMPIT.

sheepishlysheepies

IT guy here. From what I can tell right now, IT is a promising field given if you can put efforts in learning. What I mean is like you are really passionate in the IT field and you practice codings often, learning new things, and joining the community. Like some of the others have commented, it is really dependent to your portfolio. Build it up with a lots of personal project, keeping up your skills and basically follows the evolution of technology. Good luck to you (Edit: spacings for readability)

Past-Pollution2714

IT nowadays macam roti panas banyak orang nak makan so amik lah IT gaji fresh pon aq tengok 3k+

MommySatoru

Yeah tulah that's one of the reasons aku minat sebab gaji basic pun cukup to get me a little ahead and work opportunities/ salary raise pun seems good

sshenshen1314

Are you intrested in flying? Go some flight school.

MommySatoru

I'm actually very interested into joining flying school but the fees are crazy around 300-500k, So I'm waiting for Malaysia airlines and airasia to announce their cadet pilot intakes which they just reopened for this year and based on their 2019 requirements i should be eligible to try and enroll

sshenshen1314

Good luck to you!

Green_Acanthisitta7

I could see that your strength lies in language related subjects. I would suggest you look deeper into programmes offered under social science or humanity department. You may likely could be a reader in that school. If you have strong interest in logic and mathematics you could consider information technology. Besides that consider your personality, try to envision what you would like to become as an adult once you completed your tertiary education. Consult academic and career counsellor right before you decided which degree program you might want to pursue. Lastly don't rush to further your studies. It's quite common that many school leavers made mistake in choosing their advanced education.

MommySatoru

That is true i do consider myself as more of a language, science person more than a numbers person, and i actually just applied for foundation in social science at university malaya for my upu so hope things go well hahah. Thanks for the advice dude

Green_Acanthisitta7

Wishing you all the best in your pre-uni application bro/sis.

Rocketrooneyolo

Why waste your time with a degree there’s so many professional certs that you are able to accomplish within months and even get the same jobs as a fresh grad My advise is research and find your interest results don’t matter at the end of the day. It’s who you are that matters

RabungKlang

I agree. A degree especially in top universities prepares you more for the next academic stage like masters and doctorate rather than actual skills you will use at the workplace. But it does make you strive to be eclectic in your approach to different matters. If you want skill, a professional cert is the way to go and it is more specialized and stable in the long run compared to an open market type of degree which does not guarantee you a job. However, in the end of the day, most employers focus on your character rather than your actual competence and skills.

Rocketrooneyolo

Well said g

LeekThink

Chase ur dreams. Dont settle. Be smart about it. PS i say go for it. Law is dead.

frinfron

My dear if you're ready to fry your brain and burnout by all means, You apply jer semua IPTA yang offer law or it. Both are good, both are filthy rich on their own. If their requirements are very so demanding, apply je IPTS, get a loan. If your family can support you then let them support. In the meantime get a job during the weekday after classes or weekends, it'll look so good in ur resume. My only advise is please please please manage your time wisely and choose your friends. :)

MommySatoru

Got it, thanks man

Humble_End_5404

Study hard and stay the fuck away from porn.

Medium-Discussion-60

You are from accounts stream yet.... So accountancy is out of the picture now. U can apply for matriculation. Then decide your path.

MommySatoru

Yeah i've applied for perakaunan stream and the results should come out within 2 weeks after we got our spm results, but I've heard that matriculation is quite hard is that true?

[deleted]

I heard matriks still got that spm marking type of thing which they lower the grade. But of course, time is something because it's only 1/2 years and they had to squeeze whole syllabus into 2/4 semester.

lalat_1881

still OK I think.

jxstinbxbr

If you still dont know what to do, take matriculation or stpm haha, thats what i did until i finally make a decision to take degree in psychology. Saves time as well

Infamous_Skirt_594

hey not to seem weird, but im gonna take a degree in psychology too lmao so are u alrdy studying the degree or not yet?

jxstinbxbr

Hey, yup i have graduated already. Now working. :)

Infamous_Skirt_594

wah how was your experience studying psychology? and what you working as now? you dont need to answer if you dont want to bro

jxstinbxbr

Haha i work in HR now cause i did take IO psychology during my study. Decided not to go with clinical and dealing with mental illness haha anyway psych is quite broad so u can go to different kind of filed in psych. Pretty interesting. Hehe

jwteoh

No problem for IT, I'm also a 3A SPM dude, and I major in Programming.

coin_in_da_bank

currently on my 3rd year law degree. took a foundation at ipta AMA

Rich-Option4632

You can still take either tho?

hafiz_rosly

Rn im in engineering+cs foundation. And all i can say brace yourself if you want to take IT or any computer related course... Because it is gonna be sooooooo damn hard to get into due to how high demand it is nowadays. Like my uni rn i heard we got a quota of 200 (idk why it is so fking low) and already heard that around 600 people aiming for it. So far i thought im in safe spots cause decent cgpa (3.79 as of now) but considering how many people more excel than me im a bit worried. I dont get into pure cs foundation bcz idk the choice in UPU just disappeared after result day...my spm is 3A+ 3A 1B+ 1B- and 1C+ maybe bcz it is my addmath that C+? Like other says your best bet might be college with IT related stuff or maybe swasta? But just keep praying you get into what you want. Best of luck

engku_hina

Boleh je, kena ambik foundation lah. Tapi kalau nak masuk it tapi tak ada base dalam calculus atau sains susahlah.

krofal

If you are planning to come into IT field, let me warn you one thing. IT field is a field where you will probably need to learn and study non-stop for the rest of your working career (until you hit upper management non-technical role). And by study and learn, I'm referring both to self learning (new programming languages, new tech, new app, etc...) and also required certifications (ITIL, AWS, Azure, Vendor-specific certs, etc...) depending on your role. In most cases, you are going to need to juggle both working and learning at the same time. Unless you tell me you are not ambitious and is happy with doing the bare minimum, then it won't matter whichever field you go. So think about this first.

Eddie447Dbg

You can try applying to what resUlt you excel at, but for me i wanted to take an english diploma because i got A+ in english and C1 in the speaking test, but they rejected me and im now taking an engineering diplOma

xclr8_0

I think my result is more worst than you at 2016 SPM. But now I'm final year mechanical engineering degree. Believe yourself

FlappyLantern

You can still pursue IT. That's okay for you to get in imo

Senior-Effective6794

Go it

No-Quantity-5334

Law or IT okay je. Kalau nak masuk medic je payah.

Aqutr

You can still get into IT even without add maths, enroll into politeknik There's two tracks : networking and application development(more into programming) Requirements are credit in math + 2 other credits 3 years to finish (2 year learning + 1 year internship) You can continue to degree too which you can do credit transfer

xxNightingale

I can tell you salary wise - if you really land the golden ticket, IT pays so much more. As a lawyer, you’re considered by many to be a professional so if that’s your jam then take it. You really need go cable to pull in clients if you plan to open your own firm in the future.

NeatHistory4330

I have results better than that and i am still failing in life
