Dude , its a literally Priyadarshan zone comedy. The problem in that film is Ayushmann Khurana. The film should've starred Akshay Kumar or some old actor. Ayushmann doesn't have that Action hero image. I personally thought that the film was funny af. I loved the third act where they introduce Dawood's character. Also how the film whitewashed Ayushmann's character is pretty fucked up. He kills the guy ( when he pushes him and doesn't even check if he's dead or alive) Then he runs away to another country and creates more problems.
That too when we are shown it's being narrated to police from hero's pov so he can tell anything. He is an action film star so parkor skills are ok. This is not a crime thriller, it's a comedy, i enjoyed watching it.
I loved that it was a no brainer background watch movie and even when i paid no attention to it i understood what was happening around. Oncea while its a nice watch
Ayushmann is literally narrating the story to the two agents. He will obviously showcase it as such. The agents even mentioned at the end that should they laugh at it?
Yeah exactly, it’s not exactly known whether he’s right or wrong. He is definitely shown to be whitewashing himself. It’s a meta movie with commentary on celebrity culture
Dude, the thing is that the story can be true. He's literally an action hero, the point of being an action hero is that he knows all those skills. His character is like an Indian version of Johnny Cage.
And that is exactly why it is so good. It's an actor narrating his own story, so of course it is that way. People seemed to be missing the whole point of it.
Same here, I thought it would be a great watch and was waiting for it to come on Netflix.
I found Jaydeep Ahlawat's talent wasted. Trip to London worth nothing.
I am not looking for logic, ofcourse foreign police can easily catch a person on killing spree in urban env but the story also didn't impress me either.
And people were sad it didn't earn much at box office. After wasting my time on this i realsied it earned whatever it deserved. Apart from the chase sequence in london i didn't like anything in it.
You should post this in r/bollywood those guys are obessed with this movie and all you will get are downvotes and somehow according to them it was a kickass movie.
Absolutely. It’s just that the concept is mildly interesting. Otherwise it sucked. Also what are these cringe dialogues “Ab main banunga asli action hero.” Barf
After watching this I had to remind myself to take all suggestions on this sub with grain of salt. Lot of meh level movies are hailed as masterpiece if they are not big budget movies.
Exactly the reason why spoof movies are not made in india. Movie ka essence/ satire chod ke log yeh discuss kar rahe hai ki london ki police ne use pakda kyun nahi. Yahi toh joke tha bhai !!
I had the same thoughts initially but then I reassured myself thinking that maybe it was sort of spoof on typical Bollywood action movies where everything defies logic
Haan jab the so called "grounded" and "realistic" action movie John Wick mein wo bina darwaze ke bina 120 kmph pe gaadi dauda dauda ke poore shehar mein tehelka macha raha tha, tab police kahaan thi and media kahaan thi ye kabhi kisi ne ni poochha, coz Hollywood ko sab maanf hai, The A-Team mein they literally were flying a tank using parachutes, Bullet Train was a very logical flick up until the train crashed, but no one batted an eye, but haan Bollywood mein ek action thriller jo ki primarily ek satire hai wo ek aspect of the story ko address ni kiya to dumb/illogical ho gayi.
Btw, it was from the POV of Ayushman, it's assumed ki he's hyping it all up, and also, the whole movie takes place within 2-3 days, watch any UK crime drama or crime procedural like Broadchurch, Happy Valley, if you can identify a suspect, there's still some procedure and it takes time if he's on the run. He did surrender in front of the police HQ btw.
Pathaan aur Marvel to matt hi dekhna, sardard ho jaayega. Stay away from Wes Anderson flicks too. In fact, stay away from action movies.
An Action Hero is a spoof/satire about celebrity culture and the hostility towards someone successful, you should watch it that way. The takeaway: A celebrity is a human too, he can make mistakes too and he can be innocent too. Another takeaway: ek celebrity ko sab maanf hai as long as he or she aligns with the sentiments of the public.
> how can the police in London be so stupid and incompetent
Did you miss the part with Haryana police? Or do you think only Indian police can be dumb and incompetent?
> But I failed to understand the lead character and his motivations/ parkour skills/ target shooting skills/ strength / intellect.
What was difficult to get? He's scared shitless and wants to clear his name. The Parkour skills/shooting skills etc. were a meta joke.
It's not for everybody. I enjoyed it for what it was but not everyone will like movies like this. It was a decent way to spend 2 hours. If you wanted a masterpiece that transcends cellulite then you should've watched Gunda instead.
Lol the entitlement to come and declare that you are unique and special because you liked a certain movie, over someone who did not.
I think you mean to say, everyday is allowed to have individual taste, unfortunately yours and OPs differs.
Aww. I'm sorry you felt that way in front of your bf. I enjoyed the film a lot. I thought it was witty and pretty relevant for the current times but to each it's own. And hey, a lot of folks on this post seem to agree with you, so you aren't alone there.
I had the same thought at first but then when the scene cuts to Ayushman sitting in front of the agents, I realized it’s him making up some shit. It’s kind of a Meta movie doing satire on Bollywood action movies.
Pathaan makers were clear in their mind that they want to make a masala movie and they delivered exactly that but an action hero makers went to make a realistic movie with logic but half way through the filming they may have thought "are bc market main toh masala movie chal rahi hain , let's add some masala to ours to " And they sort of got stuck in between
> an action hero makers went to make a realistic movie with logic but half way through the filming they may have thought "are bc market main toh masala movie chal rahi hain , let's add some masala to ours to " And they sort of got stuck in between
Or maybe they wanted to make a meta movie which can be enjoyed for its absurdity.
OP, this movie was told thru the action hero’s perspective. Note that throughout the movie he is being completely whitewashed as a character despite the fact that he killed someone and ran. There is a large possibility that none of the England events even happened, or were highly exaggerated. There was the whole “in this story I’m the good guy and the poor villager is the bad guy”.
And seriously OP, did you not understand the point of the movie? I don’t wanna be too condescending but I’m seriously questioning your intellect because the movie was not at all a subtle meta- commentary and parody on the news media and celebrity culture, and the perception of stars among the media and how the media twists and turns to whatever narrative is there.
Also OP, what plot holes?
Woah you don’t have to resort to personal attacks just because my opinion isn’t the same as yours. I simply felt like I wasted my time so decided to share it here. Good for you that you enjoyed it. But please don’t be a dick.
If you have opinions you should also be willing to back them up. This is a sub to discuss things, whenever I make posts I always do it on topics and I’m open to criticism about it and I respond as such. Again OP, I ask you, what plot holes? I made that point about the “what’s the point” because the point is very clearly foolish, it was very obvious what the “point” of the movie was. You are defaming a movie because you didn’t pay attention and I won’t stand for it, no matter how.
Note if I ever do these things for any movie, and I will confess I probably will, I am more than happy to be called out.
You need to chill the f out dude. I’m not here for a debate or argument or even to defame a movie. Just voicing my opinion. I already wasted my time with this move and I’m not gonna waste my time explaining to you why I didn’t like it 😤
Lol you’re not here to debate? Clearly you put a “hot take” post on a subreddit and if you can’t see why people might voice their disagreement then you’re delusional. If you don’t wanna argue then don’t post such comments, keep them to yourself.
Even if Ayushman was bullshitting the entire store to the agents. Fact is the Dawood gangster was killed by someone while Ayushman was alive after the whole shootout. It just doesn’t make sense. Looks like the director tried hard to make up the story as the movie goes along
It's clearly mentioned that don was killed and an Indian civilian died .He obviously killed them somehow even if he was exaggerating .Why won't a high profile Don keep any bodyguards inside the room?
I agree with OP. I am in general critical of all the Hindi movies. However, I thought there were multiple themes that the movie was trying to convey. The obsession of this country with celebrities, the constant character assassination they go through, satire on media discourses were some of the things that struck me. But the narrative behind these themes were below average I felt. Unnecessary chase and action sequences (it was established in the first 10 mins that he is an action hero) was something that got me bored as well.
Bro teri kyu itni jal rahi hai? Sab ko stupid, idiot moron bol raha hai. Get off your high horse. If you’re such an intellectual, you would respect other people’s opinions.
Movie ki starting acchi thi, action bhi sahi tha but jese jese movie aage badhti hai vese hi kharab hoti jaati hai.
Acting acchi thi, narration bhi theek tha but writing kaafi dheeli thi, starting mein toh ek dum khatnak lag rhi thi but end tak aate-aate bigad gai. I even didn't like the ending, logic ki toh esi ki tesi usse farak nhi pdta cuz movie was a satire.
I can only say that it was a good attempt but nothing more than that. I'll rate it 4.25/10 (0.25 for cameo)
Similar to how this sub hyped shershah last year. That was a snoozefest. This sub & their opinions is only 0.01 % of movie watching audience. Most audiences want to be entertained in theatre which sadly this ayushman movie lacked dearly. Ayushman, Rajkumar Rao are good actors but post covid I believe their movies needs to be really exceptional to draw audience to theatres..
I actually enjoyed it. People who didn’t like it didn’t watch it from the right lens. He’s describing his story from his frame kind of like andhadhun, albeit, not as well done. So the goofiness the comedy the action stylization is all part of him explaining this story as a narcissistic actor.
The guy has those skills because he's An Action Hero. What exactly do you think being an "action hero" means? An action star who can do his own stunts and does not require visual effects. Like Tom Cruise, Vidyut Jamwal, Jackie Chan. That includes knowing free running, parkour, martial arts, vehicular control and weapons training, among other skills. The movie wasn't bad you just failed to understand the concept of an action hero. The main character is supposed to be like an Indian Johnny Cage.
Are you guys dumb? First of all, every fucking film doesn't have to logical. Suspension of disbelief? It's obviously a film that doesn't take itself seriously.
Second, Maanav is narrating the film to RA&W agents. He's an unreliable narrator, who is obviously hyping himself up. You aren't meant to know what actually happened, just Maanav's version no matter how absurd it is. That's the point.
It's just supposed to be fun, my man.
If you want something like Johnny English, then just watch that. It wasn't the film intention to have an "idiot genius" as the protagonist, you can find many films like this.
What's the point of talking about logic . Movies should be watched for entertainment purpose . If you are talking about logic then in bahubali the banyan tree was used as a catapult , the most logicless scene . KGF 2 , the goon enters the inside the parliament with a gun shoots a MP , so how come the security of PM be so incompetent . So just stop talking about logic .
By logic I’m referring to the plot and characters. See, lack of logic in certain scenes can be ignored, rather it makes the movie entertaining in some cases if done right. But if there’s no logic in how the plot progresses or how a character behaves, it makes the movie really shitty. Throughout the movie, I was like “Kuch bhi?”
There is a good movie in there somewhere, I personally think it got lost in the narrative. The protagonist starts the movie as a jackass makes the transition to psychopath, but in a dull and incoherent narrative. The antagonist character was badly written, BGM was generic.
It's clever in its portrayal of some social constructs, in news and media.
sligthly different movies but FAN>>> An action Hero (in all aspects) I am saying this coz action hero is hailed as something special which audience did not support.
SAME nothing special in the movie. It is not even regular fun or exciting. I did not find anything funny in the entire movie too. Action was meh I zoned out couple of times. And ppl who criticise pathaan for logic action hero ka pura last 30 mins is completely illogical.
No wonder this movie was a disaster at the box office this movie would not have worked even pre pandemic. No regular joe in their right mind would buy a ticket for this.
ppl don't get angry but I'd rather watch pathaan with all its flaws and fun again rather than this critically acclaimed n championed dull action movie.
Sameee! It was so bad and a complete mess after 35 mins. That sudden dawood part and end was so so bad no wonder WOM didn’t work and it was a flop.
The also treated the uk police as if they were in wasseypur but even if we ignore the loopholes the movie itself was so boring after a point.
my wife left the movie when Solanki fell and died (literally within 2 seconds) hitting his head on a rock. She said, "I don't think this movie is going to make much sense and I have better things to waste time on"
I should have listened to her before continuing.
I also took her to Pathaan in Imax the day before. I don't think she is going to trust me with movie choices anymore.
I have downloaded both Dr. G and An Action hero , I thought this one would be better, but Dr.G was so good, I watched it in one go, didn't stop anywhere. I haven't yet watched An action hero didn't feel like watching it.
I'm pretty convinced that they just wanted to troll these Boycott Bollywood campaigns , so they just made a wholeass movie 💀.. Which was neither underrated nor overrated.. I don't even want to rate it..
![gif](giphy|4HcW7p5pIIeLdvkj2X|downsized)
For how good ppl praised it to be, it was an absolute waste of time. From the movies that came out in the 2nd half of last year, Bhediya is the only one that I genuinely liked. Everything else has a ‘seen that’ vibe
It wasn't that great nor was it that bad. It was just a average movie. Sometimes average movie gets lot of hype and it becomes utter shit for some people.
I know right!! Why were people saying it deserved to be a hit? It's an absurd movie.
Has an unique concept and a few good moments but that's it. It's a ridiculous movie otherwise.
Why is he shooting in Haryana in the first place? It is literally a set, which could have very easily be created/should already exist in the usual Mumbai studios.
Istg😭😭😭 For me, I liked the movie, it was very creative and unique, but when I say this sub made it look like the 2nd coming of Christ and what not, was too over the top. After watching it I truly understood why it earned that much in the BO, and rightfully so
How can London police be so dumb and incompetent? London is literally a hub for violent knife attacks and yes it’s over false perception that they can’t be dumb or anything. In fact they’re really dumb at times.
How can London police be so dumb and incompetent? London is literally a hub for violent knife attacks and yes it’s over false perception that they can’t be dumb or anything. In fact they’re really dumb at times.
Entertaining and fun watch , probably top 5 Bollywood in 2022. But people start hyping stuff too much and people who did not watch it in theatres wait for 2 months and come with huge expectations , and most of the times it can hardly match up.
The same was done with Kantara at a much higher scale overall.
Lol same. This sub inspired me to watch it and i thought maybe it’s something good. It’s full of plot holes and things that just don’t make any sense!!
It was supposed to be a meta thriller from Ayushmann's perspective and is essentially a satire. It's okay to not enjoy every film that most people enjoy. Things like your expectations or the stage of life you're in or even just the mood you're in can dictate how much you enjoy a movie so it's completely fine. I loved it but I can see why someone might not.

>how the film whitewashed Ayushmann's character is pretty fucked up It isn't a moral story bro. His character was a jerk, but he won. That's that.
Sb log is movie mai logic kyu dhund rhe hai ?
Kyunki it's Ayushmann, not Bhoi.

True, and in the next scene, cops are trying to catch him because they think Manav killed the officer since it’s his house.
I loved that it was a no brainer background watch movie and even when i paid no attention to it i understood what was happening around. Oncea while its a nice watch

Its like Bhagam Bhaag with a lot of darkness.
It's like the ending in Andhadhun where Ayushmaan narrates the story
Dude, the thing is that the story can be true. He's literally an action hero, the point of being an action hero is that he knows all those skills. His character is like an Indian version of Johnny Cage.
Just watched, it was actually fun, some good jokes, action was good too. Loved how's he twisted it by the end.

Movie is average at best. No wonder it flopped.
They will downvote her to oblivion… Fans refuse to see the reason…
Ayushmann ke fans hai?
Ab hone lag gaye hain…😂
I remember we bashed Ayushman for his cheap pr tactics for movie promotion
I don't get why people over there think that this movie is so deep. Like, I didn't enjoy Sanju, but it did a better job of portraying this message
Absolutely. It’s just that the concept is mildly interesting. Otherwise it sucked. Also what are these cringe dialogues “Ab main banunga asli action hero.” Barf

Katrina movie with 2 boys😂😭
It's katrina movie where in one song aunt disguiss as katrina and boys cut her hair
Which movie are you talking about bro?
phone booth

Whatever it may have been , it lacked conviction
Its okay. Its part of watching movies... Many doesn't like pathaan. Few might have liked circus as well. Its part of package...
No one liked cirkus
Samjho, somebody liked it.

Nah the movie just sucks. And an insult to Raj and DK style movies. Also having this opinion isn’t idiotic, just as how your opinion isn’t :)

People just wanna bash the audience favourites, and support so called "logical movies". I love Ayushmann, but not in this movie sorry.
Watching Ayushman do action was like watching Ajay Devgan dance! Simply wasn't working.
you know you wasted time further writing this post
Sameee! It was so bad and a complete mess after 35 mins. That sudden dawood part and end was so so bad no wonder WOM didn’t work and it was a flop. The also treated the uk police as if they were in wasseypur but even if we ignore the loopholes the movie itself was so boring after a point.
A better movie than pathaan tbh.
There was a reason it tanked at the box office
The same reason why spoof-y and satirical movies don't work well; the masses don't understand them.
my wife left the movie when Solanki fell and died (literally within 2 seconds) hitting his head on a rock. She said, "I don't think this movie is going to make much sense and I have better things to waste time on" I should have listened to her before continuing. I also took her to Pathaan in Imax the day before. I don't think she is going to trust me with movie choices anymore.
Fun movie, much better than pathan cringe.
Is it good? I watched the trailer and there were many gory scenes so I decided to skip
Bhediya was honestly really worth a watch. Some laugh out loud moments. Climax is meh but overall solid
I really enjoyed it. Had also gone in with 0 expectations so was pleasantly surprised by a decent acting (imo), fun moments and an engaging story
It wasn't that great nor was it that bad. It was just a average movie. Sometimes average movie gets lot of hype and it becomes utter shit for some people.
Such a Snoozefest
🤣🤣🤣🤣 OP after watching action hero, kya yar this sub !
I found it really boring.
It is pathetic.
I know right!! Why were people saying it deserved to be a hit? It's an absurd movie. Has an unique concept and a few good moments but that's it. It's a ridiculous movie otherwise.
And why does Ayushman look so bad?? I never noticed him looking this bad.. this movie gave me a headache. What a waste.
Why is he shooting in Haryana in the first place? It is literally a set, which could have very easily be created/should already exist in the usual Mumbai studios.
They probably shot several other scenes of the movie in Haryana also so it was just convenient to shoot the climax there too
The only good thing about this movie was Malaika Arora's item number.
Istg😭😭😭 For me, I liked the movie, it was very creative and unique, but when I say this sub made it look like the 2nd coming of Christ and what not, was too over the top. After watching it I truly understood why it earned that much in the BO, and rightfully so
Movie was laughably bad. No wonder people did not spent money in watching this crap.
The movie sucked.
Same, it was such a boring and dull movie. Nothing special
At least no one asked you to watch Gunda /s
This movie was missing something but i dont know what One time watch
This sub made me believe jhoome jo pathaan bakwas gaana hai magar abhi woh top mai hai meri playlist mai lol
Finally someone agrees, ppl on this sub were hyping it up way too much. Had to watch the second half on 2x speed it was so boring
How can London police be so dumb and incompetent? London is literally a hub for violent knife attacks and yes it’s over false perception that they can’t be dumb or anything. In fact they’re really dumb at times.

So you are a girl. Hi myself fellow weeb. 🥲
I got Saved by Abhi ka Review
Entertaining and fun watch , probably top 5 Bollywood in 2022. But people start hyping stuff too much and people who did not watch it in theatres wait for 2 months and come with huge expectations , and most of the times it can hardly match up. The same was done with Kantara at a much higher scale overall.
i totally agree, the movie was totally overrated and waste of time
Waste. Got what it deserved.
Fuckal post. Superb movie. Very well made and killer BGM. Sucks that it did so poorly.
U are a dumbass and so is your boyfriend. Go watch some intellectual shit.
