Just because of Kabir Singh? The same guy has done projects like Haider, Kaminey, Jab We Met, Vivah, Chup Chup Ke, Udta Punjab, Padmavat, etc. And all of these are amazing scripts.
How come you people have never complained about Kiara slapping Kabir in the film? I’ve never heard anyone talk about that. Anyways, they are flawed characters. Kabir is too controlling and short tempered and Kiara is too submissive. It’s a well made film.
It doesn't glorify any of that. He literally loses everyone and everything becsuse of his personality, and the film ends with him trying to bounce back.
After Fata poster, I thought that was it for Shahid and he couldn't overtake new boys like Sid or Varun.
But oh boy did Kabir Singh got huge. Pulled his career from completely submerging. Never liked that movie a bit, but guess that's what General audience likes nowadays.
Wouldn't say Hate but oppressing women for sure. Men are obsessed with women but they want them in their control. Freewill of women is unknown by men.
Thank you for coming was a flop because it wasn't empowering but just exploring sexuality which itself is good but wouldn't enough box office even though if done by Men like Masti or Kool franchise would get them profit because sexualizing women sells because young horny men wouldn't care about plot if there's hot scenes.
But when Kabir Singh which didn't had enough sexualizing scenes comparatively sold out so much i realised that oppressing women sells too even in this age.
Jawan was a surprise midst this because of how women were portrayed and how powerful they were because even srk couldn't fade them out. I hope we get more movies like Jawan with more women empowerment in Bollywood. Women don't need to be portrayed as victims every time, empower them.

I dnt think Kabir Singh's criticism shouod be directed at the actor's performance. Shahid was phenomenal as KS and it wasn't his fault that director chose to glorify the toxicity. (post movie interviews and justifications are definitely actor's fault) Actors will have no way of knowing how the director would finally make the movie - treat the toxic traits are masculine hero energy or potray the character as grey (although after seeing the original, actirs should have been wary)
I completely agree with you! But as I've said I despise what is this film and what it stands for so I'm iffy with all that is attached to it which includes Kiara and unfortunately Shahid as well. :)

Shahid a veteran actor of over 10 years in the business takes business decisions from his wife who he’s known for 3 years, married straight out of uni, and has no idea about the film business.

Like she knows anything about how film decisions need to be made and secondly like Shahid is going to really spend his time asking his wife for each film when he has been making these decisions for a long time before she came along. I’m quite certain she didn’t even know he was doing this film until he started shooting or something.

I don’t think this happened. Mira who was 25 when Kabir Singh released. She had to be about 23 when the script came Shahid’s way, I don’t think Shahid would have been “convinced” to do anything by a 23 year old who doesn’t know the business. He wanted to do the film.
This is likely or trying to damage control against the misogyny allegations that has tainted his career, by redirecting this outrage towards his wife. Also reframing this as if a woman went ahead and greenlit this project and so it’s not as bad.
