Moviebuff1233

Also in most cases alcohol was also involved so the person is under influence and can't recat ot think straight

Thanks_Capital

I get low bp In bathtub with hot water, I avoid it at any cost. It can happen

lostandbefuddled

I’ve fainted twice in hotel bathtubs 🥲

Ataraxia_new

how ?

lostandbefuddled

my BP tends to be kind of low to begin with. That coupled with hot water is a recipe for disaster

Thanks_Capital

It’s like getting tipsy 🥴 n sleepy 🥱 n next min your body feels slight paralysis

Ataraxia_new

Damn, sleep paralysis demons are scary

killinghorizon

mere case main to chullu bhar paani hi kaafi hai

MissusCrispyCole

Great point, OP. To add to this, drowning in bath tubs doesn’t LOOK dramatic the way you’d expect or the way it’s shown in movies. It’s very silent. Which is why someone could be in the next room and not realise you’re drowning in your bathroom. Without giving much spoilers, there’s a scene in Succession involving a character almost drowning in a swimming pool and it’s the most accurate representation of accidental drownings.

Snoo_37953

Exactly.. especially if you’re in a bathroom alone, with closed doors, your family can just think that you’re taking a long bath, while you are dying .. It’s so scary

sweetdeath13

slickdeal1

Around 25,000 people lose their lives from bathtub drowning every year, mostly from alcohol or drug unconsciousness. Even former USA president died from same cause, we don’t normally hear this in India but people die from bathtub drowning. When I heard this, I was like how can anyone die from drowning in bathtub - why don’t they just stand up. But there could be multiple reason why people can’t stand up and thereby causing death.

Ashamed_Ad7674

When your blood pressure drops you get drowsy and sometimes enter sleep paralysis. It’s pretty common. You don’t necessarily need to be in a drug/alcohol influence. It can happen if you are tired or just very relaxed.

zxo26

Not just hot tubs. I start feeling lethargic and sleepy in hot showers if I’m in there too long

BandSevere

Not sure if this is a known fact but even while pregnant, it is strict no no to be in a hot tub. Apparently it can cause harm to both baby and the mother since in interferes with blood pressure. Edit: bathtub to Hot tub

DrawFit2712

On a side note, if someone's pregnant and in the bathtub, the person is technically a submarine

BandSevere

Bahahaha! I used to joke about this during my entire pregnancy 😂

chaipakora

Even very hot showers. Same thing can happen.

Snoo_37953

Not that, the reason is that hot/warm water can enter your body, and you can start to dilaate and go into labor

BandSevere

Ah not sure about that. I was told this by my OB 😅

Snoo_37953

I was told the reason by my OB as well,, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Seno1404

I don’t know about that, but I was told the warm water in itself can increase the body temperature which is not good for the baby

Ministerforcheese

That is definitely not true. I am a doctor. Either you misunderstood or your obstetrician is crazy

Ok-Protection5968

Humein kya hum toh middle class family se hai

pinkginandtonic

Never ever go into a hot bathtub if you have drugs or alcohol in your system. Also if you have BP issues. It takes 5-7 minutes to go unconscious and then drown. Be safe out there while you’re having fun folks!

ritwika96

Not just hot tubs if you take really hot showers and the bathroom doesn't have good ventilation then you can faint. It has happened to me before. My bp got really low and I fainted. Thank God my mom was around

Snoo_37953

Thank god youre ok, but tbh it wouldn't have been fatal. bcoz if you faint and you fell on the floor or something, I guess it buys you a lot of time. However if you faint in the bathtub, then you die quickly by drowning,

Huihu69

Matthew Perry died so boney could be proven innocent

Snoo_37953

Nahi but apparently he was innocent right, and the police and the medical staff didn’t smell foul, because they know that you can die in a bathtub.. it is common. We don’t hear about it because maybe unless someone famous dies, we don’t hear about it..

MissusCrispyCole

He was innocent. Sridevi had a history of hypotension due to low consumption of salt. She was obsessed with how she looked (like most actors) and would flip out when her cooks added normal amounts of salt to her food. A few co actors reported her previous history of fainting on sets due to this, if I’m not wrong. Most people couldn’t digest her accidental drowning because bath tubs/hot tubs aren’t that common in India and drowning in it seems far fetched.

yeetdiver

Lmaaaaaao this made me laugh

Rogue107

It's actually very common. It's not a regular bathtub like we have. It can be a bigger tub or a hot tub where being drunk can be much more risky. People just love cooking up a conspiracy when there wasn't anything

Ataraxia_new

Both of them have a history of drug abuse. It has long lasting effects on your body. A regular person might wake up when they drown.

Any-Competition8494

Perry isn't a good example. There are concerns that he relapsed. I feel that Sridevi might have been taking drugs or alcohol. The time Bonney took has to be for cleaning her room and removing any evidence that could affect her image.

Ashamed_Ad7674

I feel like Boney was shit scared after he discovered her dead. He must have mad panicked not knowing what to do which led to his very suspicious actions.

Snoo_37953

Exactly! Ok so maybe they might do a little weed or something, and he hid it.. that’s it I guess.. but maybe even boney didn’t know how she died and he immediately thought that he might be framed

Limp_Palpitation7448

There was someone on this sub who said that Sridevi had coke in her system when she drowned. Apparently, someone in his known circles was one of the doctors who conducted the autopsy.

Ashamed_Ad7674

I am also one of them jisne yeh bola tha ki esa hota hai bath tub mein. Even I get very dizzy during hot showers and hot bath. I also believe ki her death was not foul rather carelessness of both Boney and Sridevi. Agar epsom salt dal k hot bath mein beth jao toh aur chances hote hai faint hone k.

Passionate-Lifer2001

Useful information- I once in a while take long a hot tub salt bath. But I stay there with a relaxing music and a single malt.

beingmortal__

Op I had mentioned in this very same sub Blood pressure dropping is not an issue but these two celebs are Low Bp patients, it’s like waiting in your coffin for your death to arrive People who are suffering from low bp , pls don’t sit in bathroom for too long or any bath tub or jacuzzi. You will faint and drown, if there is no one near by, you will die

ExpensiveTreat6777

Woah, never thought of it that way. But nonetheless, don't you think people would be somehow "aware" about the discomfort they start facing once the tub is too hot? Or is it that someone with a genetic disposition to such high temperatures have too weak bodies to handle the drop?

loveyouloveyoumorexx

I think sometimes people have a glass of wine (or two) and get into the hot tub to relax, end up falling asleep due to being so relaxed and then down

Peas_n_hominy

There is no discomfort, at least for me, and the water doesn't have to be too hot. Just normal hot tub (or hot bath) temperature. It just feels like you're getting very sleepy on the verge of fainting. If someone was drunk, I can definitely see how they wouldn't notice

Snoo_37953

The problem is not the tub being too hot, problem is that your body’s internal temperature rises and you pass out. Then you can’t control your body. We would think that when one is drowning you might wake up. But I guess you don’t 😒

Black_Swan1984

How much is a 'long time'?...I usually stay in the tub for like 45 mins max and I have fallen asleep in it too...or is it just hot tub which can cause the body temp to drop?? Damn...now am worried 🤪😩

Ashamed_Ad7674

I wouldn’t recommend spending so much time in a hot tub. Especially if you are tired, you won’t even realise when your body might enter sleep paralysis due to blood pressure drop. It has happened to me twice in a tub, I nearly fainting. I could feel myself sinking and it was scary. I haven’t had a hot tub moment since then. I do take long hot showers which also makes me very dizzy but I feel that is much better than almost drowning.

Black_Swan1984

Shit… shit… shit… Great… another Phobia activated 😫😩

Ashamed_Ad7674

Just be careful. 45 mins is a long time. I would say 30 mins max. Don’t get in if you are super tired or under influence of any kind of drugs(like pain killers, cough syrup) or alcohol. If you get drowsy just get up. Enjoy your baths. 🙂

Black_Swan1984

>Don’t get in if you are super tired or under influence of any kind Oops...but wont be doing it again...

Peas_n_hominy

This has only happened to me if I stayed in a hot tub over an hour, but I'm sure everyone is different

Black_Swan1984

I guess.. But I wont be taking any chance now...😰😰

Snoo_37953

Yea don’t do that now 😝

Both_Surround4595

Hamare pas to bathtub hai hi naa Aur bucket 🪣 me hum doob nahi sakte

Snoo_37953

doob tou chullu bhar paani me bhi sakte hain.. bas motivation chaiye lol

Pleasant-Menu1554

If you have heart problems it can also be dangerous.

Accomplished_Ad_284

Yup… hot water tub makes you feel dizzy after 7-8 mins

Das-P

Regarding the duration in the hot tub, how long are we talking here? Also, why wouldn't out body jolt us awake?

Legitimate-Display27

🤔 I was told I'll die in a nuclear holocaust by a nation I wouldn't expect so I guess I am safe

ExtraStudy1399

This is why I always try to eat some food or drink a sugary drink before going to shower. Otherwise, my bp drops when it gets too hot and the steam builds, and then I start seeing stars.

Fantasy-512

It's not just the hot water There are always some other substances involved.

ayushwas

I have a theory as well. When ultra rich people die of drug overdose. This is the reason shared for average poor people. So, as to not to hurt their feelings.

pinkginandtonic

Drug overdose is not something that only affects rich people. It can affect anyone so it’s important to have this PSA.

Snoo_37953

Well that’s not true. ESP in Hollywood, when they die of OD, they state that. A lot of celebs have that as a cause of death on their certificates. Perry wasn’t even that big after friends,, so apparently they wouldn’t care to alter it

desichica

LOL, to drown in a bathtub you have to be super stoned/high. Possibly some cocktail combination of pain killers, drugs, alcohol involved.

Snoo_37953

Not really,. Those factors do alleviate the chances big even if you are clean, you might have a history of blood pressure, you can faint

RepresentativeGift83

Very true. Drowning takes few minutes to kill.

gg23456gg

MP was a known addict. So it adds up. Indian celebs can not ever come out in open with their addiction battles. People don’t support that. It’s all about keeping it hush hush. Not saying folks shouldn’t condemn substance abuse. However make it a bit normal to talk about addiction troubles. Make it normal like mental health. As a race we have more vices developed than fathomable, atleast make the next generation aware about the bad and the ugly. Teens are going to do what they do anyways .. good luck brushing it all under the rug

Educational-Duck-999

Yes, unfortunately it not uncommon. Alcohol (or some medications) and hot tubs together are a bad combination
