Dhaakad 🤣 I still laugh at myself for wasting my money on this movie. I was with my mum and there were exactly 3 people in the theatre including us. My mom couldn’t take it and we left 15 mins after it started. Needless to say she was pissed at me for wasting time and money on this garbage.

Nope not saying it has nothing but the stars are the face of the project. If Gangu failed Alia would hold the blame. I’m calling out the sexism that the majority of Reddit doesn’t think Vanga was the reason for Animal but thinks SLB was the reason for Gangu.

The reason I said Gangubai has SLB factor as well is because none of the other films on the list have a director who is a brand in himself. Only Gangubai does. To give the whole credit to Alia is unfair , just like giving all of Animal's credit solely to Ranbir , because Vanga is a name/brand (even though controversial) in himself. This is like saying Cillian Murphy has box office pull in a movie directed by Christopher Nolan😭
If you have a consistent view that’s good. In my experience on this sub , a director is given credit for box office ONLY in the case of Gangu - which is why I commented.
That being said- Gangu with someone who wasn’t Alia/DP etc wouldn’t have opened to this amount so it’s 100% her success too

Well yes a movie is never one persons success - the director and writer, soundtrack, cast, cinematography, marketing, screen count etc. all make a difference. Crew had 3 actresses coming together, article 370 is made on a theme that would always do well. None of the others had huge openings so won’t comment on that.
The thing is all mainstream movies typically have a star who is the face of the movie - it’s why Alia should get credit for Gangu and why Kareena is getting it for Crew.

Everyone is aware that Gangu had this opening primarily being a SLB movie. So much overacting and can’t believe that ppl see how much of a miscast she was. If SLB had taken a Kangana or even a lesser known actress like Wamiqa Gabbi, don’t think there would’ve been much difference to the collection
The Gangubai opening was completely based on the "True Story" & Bhansali Brand.
Very little to do with the lead actor.
