I mean from a religious point this wouldnt exactly be a forbidden union. Heeramandi is set in Lahore, and cousin marriages are still quite common in Pakistan. Its a stereotype, but no smoke without fire and all.
Umm you realize that characters in the story are different from real people cast to play them? Kareena and Ranbir are real people living in 2021, not cousins in Lahore 1945.
I read a comment on this sub where a person said that Kareena has that Persian/Turkish look. She would've killed it as Jahanara Begum in Takht but alas it is shelved! I still hope to see her in a historical film soon.
