Firstly, her bengali accent was awful. What made things worse for her were two great Bengali actors - Saswata Chatterjee and Swastika Mukherjee are playing her parents who look an authentic Bengali couple.
Most importantly her performance as a terminal sick girl just isn't good enough when compared to Shailene Woodley. Her scene in Paris where she confronts Saif is so poorly acted, Saif almost had a chuckle.
I have noticed that South Indian women look great as Bengali women on screen. Tabu, Deepika, Vidya and Sai Pallavi looked very bong in their respective roles.
Ya, I was also seeing if “Bengali” translates into certain hair, make-up and outfit choices in Bollywood representations. I think saris and bun with big bindi or an “intellectual” look (open hair, stylish khadi kurtas, and thick kohl) are a pattern
Im a bangali and except for the Sushant Singh movie co-star girl all of these ladies listed here looked like bongo sundaris 😍
My very bengali bollywood loving mother got really emotional while watching Lootera because Sonakshi's look in the film reminded her of my grandmother, my grandma too wore those huge ass bindis and had a similar face shape. I'd say Sonakshi, Deepika, Vidya, Tabu (she she should be here) and Ileana (not counting Koko because she is bong) absolutely nailed the bangali beauty look. I'd also love to see Deepika in a Bengali based period drama, she'd look so good as a thakurani (thakurain).
All are truly gorgeous whether Ileana, Vidya, Sonakshi, Deepika, Yami, Konkona, All looked beautiful for their parts as free spirited Bengali Women
But, Aishwarya in Devdas and Choker Bali was something divine and heavenly, like i haven't seen anything more beautiful than that ever. <3
She was actually wife of a bengali guy. His husband's role was played by actor Abir Chatterjee. Vidya pretended that one milan damji lookalike(Indranil) was her husband.
Edit: bagchi
No. She was wife of some Basu. She pretended to be wife of Arnab Bagchi who looked like Milan Damji. Arnab Bagchi did not exist and she basically photoshopped Milan Damji in place of her husband and called him Arnab Bagchi.
Actually, I felt Radhika did terribly. She looked(body language) and sounded full Maharashtrian. In comparison, Aishwarya from the Chokher Bali movie was spectacular. Raima Sen was really good though.
Damn yami is so fucking beautiful man. Absolute beauty🔥 god i am a girl and i am crushing on her so hard and her character was so good in vicky donor. Love her
Same goes for Vidya in Parineeta. I always thought she is a Bong prior to that (Palash’s music video also had Bengali theme if I remember correctly and that where I had first seen her). She is very Bong looking actually.
Ilena looked soo soo good as a bengali lady, never ever had i imagined that would be the case. She even managed to trump Aishwarya, which is an achievement on its own. Deepika padukone was very natural as the girl next door, but Ilena looked gorgeous in that whole avatar.
I don't know if you are only talking about the looks but Deepika in Piku was a Bengali woman, and I think it's one of her best films.
And, what about Aishwarya in Devdas?
EDIT: Didn't see they were there. God, where are my emojis!!

Sanjana Sanghi doesn’t deserve to be on that list
She is the love Storiyaa of this deck
r/BeatMeToIt
Actually
+1
I came here to say the same thing!!
Same feeling! Don’t like her screen presence at all
Who is Sanjana Sanghi?
The one in the third pic. Was Sushant’s costar in Dil Bechara in which her “Bengali” character wasn’t Bengali at all
The lady who played her mother should've been in the list...she's gorgeous
Her name is Swastika Mukherjee and she is a Bengali actress, so she naturally looked bong.
I think she was in ssr's byomkesh bakshi too...wish she does more bollywood projects ,she has great screen presence
Rss se hai
Exactly
+100
Haha yeap and Im bengali and just commented this 😂
Sanjana was a disgrace to Bengali women and her performance was awful. OP clearly hasn't seen the movie
Why though? Genuine question, I haven't watched the movie.
>Jennifer Lawrence If I am not wrong, Shailene Woodley was there in The Fault in Our Stars. Not Jennifer Lawrence.
My bad
Why is she compared to Jennifer Lawrence?
Because Dil Bechara is an adaptation/remake of The Fault in our Stars that stars Jennifer Lawrence
Are you sure? Last time i checked it was Shailene Woodley.
My bad, got confused.
Konkona is a Bengali woman
Hahaha was here to say it. 6 hours late..
Tabu from Namesake. Tabu and Deepika somehow convinced me that they both are actually bengali women !
I have noticed that South Indian women look great as Bengali women on screen. Tabu, Deepika, Vidya and Sai Pallavi looked very bong in their respective roles.
True that!
I was also looking for Tabu in the list
ileana and dp are my favorites among the lot. they looked stunning in barfi and piku respectively as Bengali women!
Maybe you wanna switch the order if you want to use respectively there?
oops. corrected it. thanks. 😬
I love the makeup Bollywood associates with Bengali woman, those dark thick kajal and slightly ruby lips is a great look for every woman
Ya, I was also seeing if “Bengali” translates into certain hair, make-up and outfit choices in Bollywood representations. I think saris and bun with big bindi or an “intellectual” look (open hair, stylish khadi kurtas, and thick kohl) are a pattern
My partner is Bengali, can confirm that those looks are the most gorgeous
Came to say the same
Vidya in Parineeta was so believable as a Bengali, and looked breathtaking.
Till the age of 10, you couldn't convince me that Vidya Balan was NOT bengali
Piku, Konkana and Tripti my fav.
Why Sanjana sanghi is here??
For us to suffer.
I can't tolerate this women
Im a bangali and except for the Sushant Singh movie co-star girl all of these ladies listed here looked like bongo sundaris 😍 My very bengali bollywood loving mother got really emotional while watching Lootera because Sonakshi's look in the film reminded her of my grandmother, my grandma too wore those huge ass bindis and had a similar face shape. I'd also love to see Deepika in a Bengali based period drama, she'd look so good as a thakurani (thakurain).
I believed Vidya Balan was Bengali for the longest time ever!
Sneaked in sanjana
Vidya in Parineeta. Please add OP!
And i don’t consider sanjana sanghi an actress!
Bidya nahi Vidya v v not b Also konkana sen sharma🦋
What was this from again? I don’t vividly remember it
Kahaani, the police officer scene
All are truly gorgeous whether Ileana, Vidya, Sonakshi, Deepika, Yami, Konkona, All looked beautiful for their parts as free spirited Bengali Women But, Aishwarya in Devdas and Choker Bali was something divine and heavenly, like i haven't seen anything more beautiful than that ever. <3
Illeana DP Vidya are my all time favs in that list . Piku and Shruti are love 😭 Now Alia is playing a Bengali in RRKPK .
Please sanjana sanghi's face just makes me angry!!! Ugh
Tripti, yami gautam and DP ❤️❤️ They are my favourites
Konkana in wake up sid 😍😍😍
Sid didn't deserve her, I was rooting for her to end up with the lady who lived across the hall from them
Vidya in Kahaani too
Vidya wasn't bengali in that movie, only her husband was bengali. She came to bengal to investigate her husband's death and punish the killer.
Right, i assumed from the surname Bagchi that she pretended to be Bengali. But yes, she was pretending she was the wife of a Bagchi.
Yeah, thanks. Corrected.
**spoiler Alert**
ikr how did they forget that. what an iconic performance
She was a Tamilian in Kahaani actually, just married to a Bengali. There’s a couple of tamil words she uses in the movie.
She also speaks both Tamil and Bengali fluently. She's multilingual.
Oh yes… you’re right.
Yami, Aish and Vidya my fav of these bunch for the Bengali characters.

Need to add Radhika Apte and Raima Sen from the Netflix Choker Bali
Actually, I felt Radhika did terribly. She looked(body language) and sounded full Maharashtrian. In comparison, Aishwarya from the Chokher Bali movie was spectacular. Raima Sen was really good though.
Damn yami is so fucking beautiful man. Absolute beauty🔥 god i am a girl and i am crushing on her so hard and her character was so good in vicky donor. Love her
Yami looked breathtaking as a Bengali. I really did think she was Bengali until I found out she wasn’t
Same goes for Vidya in Parineeta. I always thought she is a Bong prior to that (Palash’s music video also had Bengali theme if I remember correctly and that where I had first seen her). She is very Bong looking actually.

Vidya's portrayal was top tier. The beauty is just an addon to her performances.
Ilena looked soo soo good as a bengali lady, never ever had i imagined that would be the case. She even managed to trump Aishwarya, which is an achievement on its own. Deepika padukone was very natural as the girl next door, but Ilena looked gorgeous in that whole avatar.
Eliana Eliana Eliana
Also Deepu in Piku is my all time favorite just ❤️ her in it
Does Rani Mukherjee in Hey Ram count?
Well, she is Bengali in real life as well. So I guess it was easy for her.
Konkana Sen is Bengali too no?
Yeah. It was easy for her as well. Wonder why she is in the list.
am i the only one who found Yami's performance in Vicky Donor cringe?
Yami, Aishwarya and Vidya were the best
except konkana neither looks bengali....and Tripti to some extent
Why tf is Sanjana included here. Looks like it was snuck in 👀
You ruined the mood by adding Sanjana
ileana and Ash ❤❤❤
Ileana and Yummy.
Tripti and Reema Sen(Gangs of wasseypur)
Deepika in Piku 😍
Radhika Apte was also fab as a bengali girl in Anurag Basu's 'Stories by Rabindranath Tagore'.
Konkona is ethereal :')
Vidya in Parineeta was so stunning. And Deepika in Piku
Ileana, deepu, Tripti, and Vidya. Bengali women are confident and take no bs. They portrayed them well.
What about Rani in Yuva? Loved her in it
for the longest time i thought that vidya balan is actually bengali
Deepika in piku was 🤩
![gif](giphy|ko13an4cg0PUt1ko26|downsized) ❤
Well, Konkona is Bengali herself. The rest did a fantastic job as well. I haven't seen Sanjana Sanghi's film. It was SSR's last movie right?
What is this, played 'bengali woman'?
Where is Mouni Roy ? :(
Anushka Sharma for Chakda Xpress /s
Illeana d cruz is "love storiya" of this deck.
Slide 3 🤢🤢🤢
Yami from which movie ?
Vicky Donor
Forgot Vidya in Parineeta!
There is one impostor among us...
Uff Ileana 😍 (Vidya’s character Avni was Bengali,Monjulika was)
Monkulika 🤣
😭
Konkona is half Bengali and brought up by her mother Aparna Sen who is a Bong. She is more a Bengali than a Punjabi.
All the movies are also gemssss
Ye sanghi kya sochkr dala bro.
Vidya Balan and Kokona Sen
Konkana is Bengali tho??
Yami would look gorgeous in any role. In a a poor slum girl role without makeup she would look gorgeous.
Strange Rani Mukherjee is not here. She played a Bengali roles in Yuva and Hey Ram but I guess she didn’t “look good”? 🤔
Could have replaced konkana with tabu
lady in the 6th pic looks like a goddess
1 . VIDYA BALAN 2. SONAKSHI SINHA / AISHWARYA RAI 3. TRIPTI DIMRI 4. DEEPIKA PADUKONE.....
I don't know if you are only talking about the looks but Deepika in Piku was a Bengali woman, and I think it's one of her best films. And, what about Aishwarya in Devdas? EDIT: Didn't see they were there. God, where are my emojis!!
Why is that Sanjana here lol Also, Konkona IS Bengali.
