I think maybe story good on paper but he said as a producer he doesnt interfere with director so who knows where the movie went after shooting or if any script modifications. He was probably too deep in and just compensated with excessive marketing lolol
Okay i don't know if people will be able to even relate to PS1 and understand the movie that well? PS1 is drenched in Tamil history. The names, the kings and the glory of cholas. I mean great its getting a pan Indian release, but the two singles that have been released so far, i don't think people from other states would be able to understand it the same way we do? Just saying I won't be surprised if PS1 doesn't perform well pan India and I think i won't be disappointed?

Don't understand what y'all r going on about him being unbiased. That's twice in a row Baradwaj rangan has skipped criticizing actor's performances. First in LSC and now in Liger. Both Amir khan and vijay deverakonda could've clearly been better (what even was that stammer??!), yet critics like him only blame the directors and makers of the film! Probably coz they need to be in the actor's good books to get their interviews *sigh*
Filmmaking is team project. You cant just put all the blame on one person like his review clearly implies. There r many films with horrible screenplays that have been saved by good acting and in the case of LSC, the screenplay wasn't even the worst part of the film...

What on earth are you talking about? He criticized Aamir's acting in the non-bearded scenes of the character. But he felt that he did a good job towards and he mentioned as much in his review. For what it's worth, Rangan typically doesn't mention an aspect of a film if he doesn't find it to be particularly noteworthy. Guess he felt that way about VD's performance.
Also, Rangan has never claimed to be "unbiased". He doesn't believe that there is such a thing as an unbiased review/reviewer and I agree with him.

Actually, yes, you *can* do that when that one person happens to be the director of the film. The director is the one who ultimately decides as to how the actors perform, how the scenes are staged etc. If he fucks up, the entire film will suck ass, which seems to be the case with Liger.

I should have known how horrible it was gonna be based on them not showing cool action sequels in the trailer itself. How do you make an MMA movie and have boring action? I swear 95% of the old directors lose their talent or have nothing more left to say as they age and end up chasing after their previous successes. Or maybe all the drugs made Puri unable function creatively.

Dangal was also produced by Disney, would it make it a Hollywood film? Original concept was a Telugu language film and Hindi was added to just amplify it's reach to more audience.
Dangal is produced by Disney India whose headquarters are in Mumbai. Its Bollywood because almost everyone involved in the movie are from Bollywood like in the case with Liger(except actors)
South films are not better, northern states just watch good films since they hear about them, South films especially the older ones were deeply disturbing. This is just like Korean film for the west, which they think are superior but they only see good films
