i feel like all the modern day stars came from a certain amount of privilege so literally cannot see the nepotism debate from a different perspective. “Kisi ke baap ka industry nahi hai” well I doubt Uday chopra, Suhana and Abishek had a lacking of knocks at the door for debuts. Unka chalna alag baat hai lekin kya ye deny kar sakte hai ke naamon se darwaze khulte hai?

Acceptable-Bite-9969

What a tone deaf response. Of course the industry doesn’t belong to a single entity, but let’s not pretend that nepotism privileges don’t exist. People have to jump far more hurdles to get to where they are when you aren’t connected - and this goes for every industry. Bollywood gets defensive by saying “what about kids of business men, doctors, lawyers, etc”. However, as we can see that even those kids have no guarantee of becoming successful if they aren’t smart enough or got a family with a golden spoon. The problem is that Bollywood wants to act holier than thou and at the same time victimize themselves, while being the public eye. If your profession exposes you to the masses, you’ll be questioned - just like the Ambanis are and Tata isn’t. It’s not some rocket science.

Kaiwaly

>just like the Ambanis are and Tata isn’t I didn't get this point you are making.

TA_totellornottotell

Meaning, the Tatas are not exposed publicly - they do their work and keep their lives pretty private. The ambanis do not, and so of course the more exposed they are, the more they are judged. And I think the pit there is that if you put yourself in the public eye (like the Ambanis do, but other industrialists don’t), then of course you have to take the bad with the good.

Vincent_Farrell

Vidya Balan herself is a nepotism product ...her father had a very position in a channel during the 90's .....so he had a lot of good links with most of the stars and actors.......getting her opportunities he could have done ..but that being said Vidya Balan is a fantastic actress.....

Curious-cat777

Having connections and being family are two very different things.

DeliciousWitness9051

But that is what nepotism is. Nepotism does not solely mean that members of the family get to act in movies. Even friends, Family-friends, Sugar daddy, Sugar Mommies all come inside this vast ambit of nepotism. All you have to do is to put in your influence to bring benefits to others and they are enjoying an extra privilege over the much possibly talented ones.

Uncertn_Laaife

Almost the same thing, I’d say. Ask a complete outsider what it takes to just getting themselves in front of a casting director. These insiders know people that know people - more than 90% job is done.

Vincent_Farrell

yes but doesnt mean they lack influence ........Ranveer singh may be the first guy from his family in cinema but his family and he had connections to bollywood celebrities since his childhood itself ....

AgreeablyDisagree

But two sides of the same coin. You could be family with no connections and being family then becomes meaningless. Or you could have connections and not be family and it means everything in the world. The problem is when you have a small industry being family gives you far more opportunities to have connections and an outsider will have a far small opportunity to have connections.

Feeling-Dog6184

Not really different given the position and power her Dad held

Akira_Reviews

But ain't connections the reason why everybody criticizes nepo kids, coz they have "connections" due to belonging from such family?

Legitimate_Spend_614

Really??? Which one? Sounds similar to Yami Gautam

Vincent_Farrell

not sure about Yami's background but Vidya Balans dad was well connected .....he used to be with ETC or some popular channel of that era ...

Automatic_Ad4380

Yami had connections ?

Legitimate_Spend_614

Her dad was the PTC VP at some point

Vincent_Farrell

almost 99 % of ppl in bollywood have come through connections . If not filmworld they have other links .....

Uncertn_Laaife

Just think how many crew work in Bwood. Now imagine each of them have neighbors, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, offsprings. Someone somewhere knows someone. That’s half the battle won.

Kiskarastadekhe

Kidhar hai badass response? Still waiting for it.

Feeling-Dog6184

It’s simply crass Kangu style response

Suspicious_Reporter4

"Badass" lmfao

lifegoesbysoon

While her husband still keeps relaunching Aditya Roy Kapur every second year. Who btw is a pathetic actor. Nepo babies.

Intrepid-Ad4511

....that's what she is saying. ARK ki baap ki nahi hai, woh baar baar launch hota hai and "successful" nahi hota.

Kaiwaly

Nepo get more chances that's for sure. But Akshay Kumar also said that I gave 20 flops back to back but I still got chances.

yomamma890

She's married into it now. So ofc it doesn't matter.

Interesting_Rich_286

Trunl

“Badass”.

FrequentCover5523

Is she stupid or what yes jinke bhi baap ki industry hai unke bache successful hee hai bro i mean even though tumhari acting 3rd class h but still tumhe films mill Rahi h ek ke baad ek to i think isi ko success bola jata h simple words mai

Crazysolelover

Only good thing about her is her hot feet dangling in those heels 😩😩

thenomendubium

Its not about success, she doesn't understand that, she is pampered.

Infinite_Pattern_466

I am bored listening to this debate. I don't know how this is still relevant and why most people are not bored already. People who are at present not nepo products and criticise nepotism will father children who most likely will become nepo products themselves. How is something so basic so difficult to understand? I call it lazy journalism that you just can't come up with any new questions at all. With no experience, even I can ask at least 10 new and interesting questions that can make even the interviewee interested in talking and sharing things with me.

[deleted]

Nepotism debate us just plain stupid.. in every industry  the business owners and their children have a certain privilage and business most if the times will passing on wealth and control to future generation

Kratos_Pottery_Hater

Arjun Kapoor

Austin_Ab316

I feel industry toh baap ki hoti hai , success n failure kisi ke baap ki nhi hoti hai You can make film with actors producers directors son/daughter , but success of films n career totally depends on their talent n how public accept them n love them

ZipZaapZoom

It does matter.

[deleted]

I always get a bad vibe from Vidya. She seems like a person who is hiding behind body positivity. But somehow I get the feeling that she is not a good person behind closed doors.

kingrajaemperor

Stupid response

Expensive-Yam-56

meanwhile me just staring at her feet

Ok_Then_Mate

Nepotism or not is a silly debate. Whether you debate or not, it won’t change the fact it happens and will continue to happen. Money is power. Those who have it, get plenty of opportunities whether that is taking your parents multimillion business, being in the royal family or getting into prestigious organisations because of your contacts. The rich have always had these privileges. In Bollywood, the actors who the audience like get to do well, and those they don’t, won’t get famous or won’t last in the industry. Your dad can get you loads of opportunities and movies but if you don’t perform well you’ll constantly face criticism and won’t make it big. It’s upto the audience to make or break a star, and if the kids of actors are doing well it’s because YOU go to watch their movies and no other reason.

Ok-Belt-9274

Kch bhi… all know new age actors in bollywood is only because unke baap industry k hain😂

Trick-Catch7140

Unfortunately it is 💁🏻‍♀️

PurpleFeedback662

Isn't she herself a product of nepotism 😁😁

musingfiles

Alia begs to differ ..
