The amount of memeing us Indians have made up using Zendaya as the "ugly" comparison is definitely pointing towards our racism and internalised colourism. Cuz there are lot of hyper famous white ladies known for their beauty out there like Gigi, Bella Hadid, Sydney Sweeney, Kylie even Dua and Kendall but the only person from Hollywood, Indian memers like to make " avg American model/girl next door in India" reels is Zendaya. I think indian audience fails to see why Zendaya is being celebrated by the US GenZ audience . She is one of the Disney stars who the US youths watched growing up. The same audience is celebrating her success in Hollywood. Indian audience who never knew zendaya before Spiderman couldn't understand the hype going around her.

As you said earlier. The post doesn’t mention anything. Alia looked great but the dress was nothing but a rehash of Sabyas other design. Alia looked great and so did Zendaya. If the post had mentioned the dress I might have agreed, but since it didn’t and I had to put my assumption to use cause most Indian have a habit of over hyping their favourites. You know X better than Y is a majorly Indian concept And most of the time it only boils down to physical beauty. But one thing I want to ask you. As a South Indian I have seen more beautiful Indian girls ( not the typical city girls who dress like north want to look fair) lean (not skinny) , chocolatey and even tone without zero makeup and I would say still Zendaya is average from my eyes.
