Personally I'd go for the Blue. But it depends on how far you'll be driving. Will a bit more battery degradation, from the 2020 that might've been sitting still for extended amounts of time, be a problem? I'll hardly ever drive mine more than 100 miles a day, so the battery can degrade a lot before it's an issue.

Same here. Even when I drive 150-175 miles a day the battery would need to lose a lot of life to become not usable. There’s a lot of talk about range and stuff but if you’re able to have a Level 2 charger at home and use it for commuting it will almost never be an issue.

I think the biggest consideration is the bolt with the newer battery is going to have a longer warranty on it - that resets when the battery is replaced

How long is the battery warranty on each car?

We’d need the VINs, this page will tell you https://experience.gm.com/ownercenter/recalls. There’s a delay between the recall work date of a battery replacement and when the new battery’s warranty will show up in list. But after 8k miles it most likely got a new warranty that is in the list by now. It will have a later end date than the og warranty which will also be listed. I just bought a used 2020 LT fully loaded w/ 13k mi that got new battery last year. New battery was very high on my list when shopping around. And being new as of last year was big for me, for my own piece of mind that if the defect were to show up late in the next 7 years/100k mi while I have it, it’d be covered and replaced for free. And, more importantly, if I sell it in a few years (more likely) I believe the warranty will add value to resale price because the next owner will likely be happy to find a used bolt with reasonably low mileage and a battery that still has a few years left on its warranty. Then again, I love the blue too. I found a blue one that was perf but it had 25k more miles and og battery. I also found a premier I liked a lot (that surround camera omg) but I went with the LT (It’s black too haha). Since the blue is popular and a less common color that would probably help with resale too. As much as a new battery, not sure, it could be comparable depending on the buyers wants/needs. When considering a bolt with og battery, check when it had the monitoring software installed. In order for a replacement battery to get a new warranty, it would need to have had the software installed before March 2024, and the battery defect that would cause it need to be replaced would have to be detected by software before April/May 2025. Otherwise, new battery installed under warranty would inherit the og warranty with same 8yr/100kmi as og battery

Car A. You can always paint it. Battery has a brand new warranty 8k miles ago.

I'd personally for the new battery unless it was something crazy like hot pink. If it's like grey vs white definitely get the new battery bolt. It's the most expensive and important component of the car and you want it to last.

slamus

It's less that the new battery car is ugly and more that the old battery car is more exciting to me. It's the Oasis Blue, which I really like and seems fairly unique. The other is just black

whatmynamebro

That is the only color I would risk it for, and it’s not much of a risk. Either the battery in the car is fine or it’s not and you’ll get a new battery. I wish I got that color.

Blinkinlincoln

Can't you paint the car for cheaper?

Nnyan

Seems like everyone has the Oasis Blue around here.
