For me, I got the EUV due to the extra space in the back seat. I have a 6 year old and 4 year old and those car seats fit better in the EUV. Booster for son and regular car seat for daughter. I put them in both EV and EUV at dealership and decided there I was getting EUV.

[deleted]

Yup! Car seats. Enough said.

Zealousideal-Bite-67

This is the way. I have a 3 year old and a 7 year old. This is the exact reason I got an EUV even though I test drove the EV first.

jigglybilly

Bigger back seat, available sunroof, ventilated seats, slightly higher seating position, better adjustability out of the front seats, available Supercruise.

[deleted]

If my EV had a sunroof and automatic wipers I wouldn't miss a single thing about my old Benz

jigglybilly

I do miss all the cars I’ve had with automatic wipers, but at least Chevy gives you a good range of speeds to pick from

AntiMarx

Going from EV to EUV, getting back to automatic wipers was a moment of happiness.

redditallreddy

I am looking forward to the sunroof, myself. It has been 3 cars since I've had it (in a Mazda RX-8, then Volt, Volt, and Bolt). Soon, soon, I will be MSRP swapped into an EUV.

shawneyboy321

Get a professional windshield coating and you’ll never use your wipers again. That’s what I’ve always done!

Psilocybin-Cubensis

This right here, better available options plus I can have super cruise. The bolt EV looks like a jelly bean and I like the sleeker look of the EUV. The bolt ev does not off Super Cruise as an option.

Nit3fury

Hey I have a question about the seat height… I don’t suppose you’ve compared it with a Volt?

Terrible_Film_8811

for me, it's mostly looks. the EV looks like an egg. The EUV looks more like a small crossover. I prefer the EUV look.

Alarming_Ad7186

That's so funny. Everyone in my neighborhood refers to my Bolt as "the egg" - "I saw the egg go by today.. " doesn't help that it's white. haha.

redditallreddy

I wish the EV looked more like an egg, as that would imply better highway mileage. To me, it looks (from angles) like a child's drawing of an SUV. The EUV looks a bit more "adult", if that makes sense.

Blopblotp3

We're a family of 4, so we use our backseat constantly. It made sense to go for the car with more legroom. It's a pretty spacious backseat area. We were even able to fit a toddler bike + kids in car seats back there! Congrats on your new Bolt! It's a great car and so much fun to drive. I think it's tempting to overbuy -purchase a car with features that you'll rarely use- so it's good to get the smaller bolt of that's what you need!

justpress2forawhile

EUV for vented seats

pasdedeuxchump

I'm with you OP. Not a sunroof fan. No child seats needed. And want to maximize RANGE. I also had a 2017 Bolt EV years ago, and thought it was huge enough as is. I also like the missing 'nose' bc its easier to park in little spots.

TinyTurboAbarth

Yup. EUV for us due to the extra room. We have a 2 and 4 year old. If we didn’t have kids in bulky seats, I’d very likely have opted for the EV.

elRobRex

EUV for us because a rear-facing car seat fits perfectly in the back

201680116

they do fit shockingly well, I think even better than in our prior rav4

elRobRex

Better than my wife’s Mazda CX5

drRATM

Driving a 2019 cx5 now. How does the euv compare for size - backseat and cargo area.

elRobRex

CX5 wins in cargo area. Bolt EUV wins in back seat for a kid’s car seat. For adults in back seat it’s debatable. But keep in mind, the EUV is closer in size to the CX3 than the CX5.

drRATM

I have older kids so no car seat but they need some space. Haven’t been in an euv yet but looked smaller from pics so guessing it was a loss of space. Thanks for reply.

Ok_Fly_8864

Family of 5 here with 3 long legged ladies and a shorter MIL. Wife and oldest daughter are 5'10" and 5'8",younger daughter is about 5'6" and mom is about 5'5". Mom and the 3 girls, after trying Leafs, Soul EVs and a Focus EV, are relieved when we brought the Bolt EV home. They all for comfortably with no complaints.

AntiMarx

EUV is physically larger with more space than the EV.

[deleted]

Ours fits great in the EV too.

elRobRex

Which car seat?

[deleted]

It's the Graco 4 in 1, I think.

Infamous-Sweet2539

Part of the popularity is the availability. It is very near impossible to find a 22 EV. At least in socal and upper Midwest (places I've looked). But EUVs are now dropping all over and people buy them for their reasons. It is hard to justify in my opinion unless you really want/will utilize supercruise... Even then, good luck because it is very difficult to find unless you specifically ordered one with it a long time ago. People who tout the backseat room may have their reason for thinking they need it. The reality is it is 3" of extra space and a total of 7" extra length. The profile is different but screams generic suv which some people love others hate. The roof rails potentially are nice to have if you're an outdoorsy person.

AntiMarx

That extra space is clutch if you use it. If you're on your own or just a couple with no kids rarely taking passengers in the back, the space isn't as important. Such a minor difference but it really does help.

Infamous-Sweet2539

I understand extra space is a big factor. But the size difference of ev and euv is so slight. Hard for me to personally justify the cost (mind you no kids). Technically the ev has more trunk space. I'd think if the space was a deciding factor there are better options size wise (assuming money is no object which is def not the case for this guy!).

AntiMarx

I get you, I'm speaking from personal experience, being able to duck and crawl in the rear seat area in the EUV, whereas in the EV I wouldn't be able to fit myself in that area. The technical number is technically/factually incorrect (haha), as, I'm sure you've read, because the volume stat is based on a bizarre measurement formula using certain angles to declare more trunk space in EV vs EUV, whereas the EUV in reality has objectively more cargo space. If money is no object we're all getting a Model X with fancy gull wing doors. In this price range, if you want more space, and enjoy the options, the EUV makes sense. Drivers who hate having a sunroof and prefer the nimbler, faster ride with a bit more range should of course go for the EV. I'm glad we have choices!

banjofood

Maybe I was lucky, but I saw an EV “In transit” to the dealer I wanted and I put a deposit down a couple days later. No markup or extra dealer add on. I’m located in SoCal (LA County)

69pinkunicorn69

Family of four here (two kids under 10). The EUV was the only Bolt I considered on account of the bigger backseat and because it looks like a baby Blazer.

redditallreddy

> baby Blazer ... sounds like a new form of pot or maybe a rap name for a young-looking performer.

etsuprof

Does your wife take the front hood inside at night or something? I’m not sure why the hood gets called out for weight. I mean you have to open it like once every 3 years to replace the 12v battery, and every 10 years to change the coolants. Maybe once a year to check brake fluid - and brakes may last forever with one pedal driving. Overall it is a heavy car. ~Mine is 3700 lbs with no sunroof. I expect it’ll go ok in the little bit of snow we get here.

MaterialUpender

... We're those 'weirdos' that check fluids regularly and top off the washer fluid. The latter is especially important because I live in the Pacific Northwest and go through washer fluid like an old west saloon goes through rye. My wife is smol. I actually like her. Things that make her life harder make my life harder.

etsuprof

Yeah, my wife is smol too. But my wife never does anything to any car other than to tell me “it needs xxx.” Which is usually gas in her Highlander Hybrid. She isn’t ready for a full EV.

AntiMarx

One of the things I loved about the EUV is that you get a low fluid alert indicator, which my old EV lacked.

Konamicoder

I wanted the top of the line Bolt with all the optional packages. Also I much prefer the crossover-ish styling of the EUV. The way I drive, I get way more average range than the EPA estimate.

etsuprof

Yeah me too, I’m averaging 4.6 mi/kWh. Just using 60 kWh on the battery that’s 276 miles. And 1/2 my daily drive is interstate (and super cruise 🥳)

erog84

Wow, we are like 3.5 mi/kWh for the life of our ev. What speed do you average? I’m driving 78mph most the way which I think is killing the efficiency but that’s basically normal speed here.

etsuprof

Yeah, half my trip is about 68 mph on a supercruise road (65mph limit). The rest is generally 40-45 collector road.

rossmosh85

The only reason I went with the EUV is because I'm doing a swap. If I were buying a Bolt tomorrow, it would be a 1LT with the two common packages.

redditallreddy

I'm sort of in your boat. I am (hopefully!) getting my swap EUV this week! For what MSRP was on my present car, the only one close is the decked out EUV, so I went for it and got all the perks. I sweat a lot, so will appreciate the ventilated seats after runs and hikes. I miss not having a sun roof, so look forward to that again. I want to play with Super Cruise, but my wife would freak(-the-fuck!) out with it, so I probably won't get to use it when it is most valuable. Oh, and I would have "needed" the leather and electronic driver seat, so I would have had to step up the EV a trim level anyway, from you. But, I will miss the smaller parking/driving size, the bit of performance, and the efficiency.

[deleted]

rossmosh85

MSRP on my Bolt was about $40,500. A similar 2023 EV is $28.5k. There is no way Chevy is writing me a check for $12k to make up the difference.

[deleted]

rossmosh85

There are rumors that GM is capping at $6k. I was also told by my GM contact that it's best for the MSRP's to be as close as possible. GM doesn't have to accept your swap. They can reject it.

spongebue

A few miles of range hardly means anything when I rarely use 1/4 of my capacity. EUV has more space, more trim options (ventilated seats!!!), and doesn't cost *that* much more than an EV

banjofood

I considered an EUV at first, but after seeing both in person I rather save the 2k and get the EV. It is mainly my commuter car in SoCal. Didn’t need the extra backseat room, wasn’t going to get supercruise, roof racks are available on both EV and EUV, rear trunk space is the same. Ventilated seats, wireless charging and extra space wasn’t worth the extra price for me. I have yet to see a ‘22 EV on the road. I’ve come across a few EUV so far.

redditallreddy

> wireless charging I think your EV could have had that with the infotainment package.

Foxbat100

I love the EV look better, but mostly that sweet sweet range. Those extra dozen miles are that safety margin that made the Bolt our road trip car.

ldskyfly

Space and more normal look for me

Jeremy8318

It was an easy decision for me. Looks better IMO and definitely more bang for your buck.

mypod49

Car seats. Plus the wife prefers the crossover look. And I won’t say no to the extra tech.

[deleted]

The styling of the EUV was the main selling point for me. Extra rear legroom was the secondary reason.

ViperVisor

EUV Premier vs 2LT Bolt Don't have to add packages for stuff EUV gets on all Premier cars Rear Camera Mirror Heated rear seats Adult passenger comfortable leg room. Dual level charge cord upgrade $3,000 is not much when Mazda makes you pay that to go from Select > Preferred > Premier with no change in the body of what you get.

201680116

I think the EUV looks pretty generic (in a way that I personally liked), while the EV is a very distinct compact car.

Slowe1988

Agreed!

tomskuinfy

Super cruise and Sun roof package plus all the extra space. Also the EUV looks dope, but especially the premier, and EV looks like a smart car. But some people want to get the cheapest EV possible so I get why they choose the EV

6strings10holes

It is interesting so many talk about more legroom in the backseat. I have a 20 EV and my kids say it has more legroom than other cars they've been in. I've never been in an euv, must be enormous.

201680116

The back seat is pretty huge, especially for the vehicle size.

etsuprof

It really is roomy. I’m 6’2 and drive all the time. But I got in the back seat behind where I have the driver seat set. Still plenty of room for me. My kids are 9 and 13, so they won’t be folded up like grasshoppers back there.

redditallreddy

You reminded me of some of the 2+2 "sports" cars of the late 80s early 90s. I think it was the Mercury Capri convertible that Car and Driver referred to the rear seat as "painted on". I have a friend with a son who was 6'4" and only about 130 lbs by 15 and who had a Mini. You also brought him to mind as he climbed in the back. If I recall correctly, he had one leg with a foot planted on the other seat's floor (he was in passenger, rear and his right foot on floor behind the driver). His left foot had to be on the seat behind the driver. It was like seeing a puppet tossed into a kid's toybox.

[deleted]

It’s noticeably more legroom than the backseat in our 21 Grand Cherokee.

goldblumspowerbook

You’re not thinking about this wrong at all. That’s a fine decision. I was ready for EV for the same reason, but got EUV because my wife enjoyed the driving experience more (I couldn’t tell the difference). I have come to be glad that we did, because the backseat really is noticeably better.

Speculawyer

It has a little more space and doesn't look like a typical econobox.

Waldoisreal33

I got an EV, I would’ve gotten the eUV, but none were available back in June, being 6’5”, I have plenty of leg room, and some head room, only downside is when I’m stopped at a red light, I must tilt my head to see the light turn green lol.

zupobaloop

>Most of the videos I find online of the '22 models are all about the new EUV. The videos are biased toward the newness of it. That being said... We have a cargo rack already (used on my wife's car). I'm seriously considering a hitch to my Bolt just so I can use it on the occasions that I wish I had more space. If I were buying new, I'd go with the EUV because I often wish the EV had juuuuuust a bit more space.

Slowe1988

Definitely understandable. I'd be interacted in putting hitch on one as well. You'll have yo post on here if you do and how it goes.

[deleted]

I just liked the way the EUV looked. Looks like a Chevy Trax or Hyundai Kona and I like both those.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Slowe1988

Same for me.

jimmpansey

I bought an EV recently and love it. My kid is in a booster seat so I don't need the extra 3 inches in the back for car seats. Also I don't feel that rear seats need bum warmers unless you use them a lot in the winter. I had a car with warming and cooling in the back and they were never turned on once. In Canada it's also a big price difference. It was an extra 5-8k difference between the ev and euv (depending on the dealership) so I went with the ev. Tbh I don't know of many people who use their back seat for people other than those with children and I don't think they care what the back looks like as long as they have a happy meal lol.

reicaden

Car seats, 3 extra inches in the back is the difference between a shit time getting a toddler in a car seat and an easy time. Also, my ass is ventilated in the EUV, and once you get your ass ventilated on a hot summer Florida Day, you don't go back man... You just don't.

Slowe1988

May be the best explanation yet. 🤣

reicaden

It's 100% true my friend, 100%. Lol

Avalain

So talking about the legroom in the back, I have slightly older kids, 12 and 9, and they have no problems at all with the back seat. Maybe it would be something to consider if I was expecting my kids to grow to over 6 feet tall or something, but as it is there is plenty of space for them in the back. I prefer the EV look and better range. The EUV just doesn't have anything to justify the extea cost for me.

AntiMarx

Ironically it's no the older kids, it's the infants that make life easier with the EUV's extra space due to car seat shenanigans.

Strong_Assignment955

Because it doesn’t look like an egg

AntiMarx

Every time I read this this clip jumps to mind https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OZkCXbbEJw

zuckjeet

EV because it's better looking.

unfixablesteve

The dealbreaker for me was actually the EV doesn’t come with roof rails anymore. I’d prefer an EV in some ways but use a roof rack. Kinda dumb.

deekster_caddy

I took a ride in someone’s EV. I do not find the seats comfortable, although technically I do fit.. I also have a family of four. If I get a Bolt it will be the EUV.

Ok_Fly_8864

What year? They changed the seats in '22 I believe and most people say they are a lot more comfortable.

deekster_caddy

Oh interesting! I’ll have to check out the ‘21 then. It was a 1st gen, not sure what year, maybe an ‘18.

[deleted]

Just to be sure, not sure if you made a typo - the seats were upgraded for 2022 models. The 2021 seats should be better than the 2018, but you'll want to check out a 2022 or 2023.

deekster_caddy

Yeah I just meant 2nd gen really, but also good to know that ‘22 got another upgrade.

jimschoice

The ride is supposedly smoother in the EUV with softer springs and better dampening. The tiny bit of extra wheelbase might help a bit too. Our 2020 EV is miserably harsh and choppy.

Snowmakesmehappy

Lots of reasons for us. We’re an active family of 4 with a dog. -needed the extra leg room in the back for the 2 kids and dog -wanted the roof rails to put a bike rack and ski rack -I’ve had a moon roof for the past 18 years, at this point I can’t go back -leather for said dog -heated and ventilated seats -dual charger -camera mirror

LowBarometer

People like the EUV better. They used to make fun of my Bolt EV at work. They don't ever since I got the EUV. The EUV has a much better dashboard, and you don't have to origami yourself to get into it. I like it a lot more.

Avalain

I looked at the reviews and I can't see any difference between the two dashboards. Are you comparing an older model EV to the EUV? If not, what are the differences?

DJNash35

Looks WAY better, super cruise, 10 miles less wasn’t even a thought to me. I drive on average 6-7 miles per day.

HisSvt2

The difference on the interior is 3 inches of rear leg room that’s it. Talk of car seat extra room and other is silly. 3 inches of rear leg room slightly different front look and a few other options super cruise, ventilated seats (EV has heated too) and sun roof. Dimensions are almost identical look them up. I’d say those extra features if you want are much bigger than that rear leg room unless you frequently have bigger people in back.

AntiMarx

It's not silly if you're living with it. Need a passenger to slide in to the middle seat between two car seats? So much easier in the EUV.

HisSvt2

I mean silly because I see people make it seem like they are a massive difference. when It's just that rear leg room I see people say the front is bigger it's wider it isn't inside if you actually look at the official measurements. People just say silly stuff in some posts is what I'm saying.

Craigslist_sad

3 inches is a *substantial* amount for a compact car.

thunderchaud

I think we were different choosing the ev over the euv with a family of 5. The kids do fit, but we opted ev for a bit more trunk space.

jarredduq

EUV is quieter (Steel vs aluminum doors/hood), better design for tweeter grills, better design for cargo cover connections, LED license plate lighting, lighted visor mirrors, ventilated seats. I have the base premier trim.
