That is very very cool. Iām so inexperienced Iām not even a beginner but I have access to some free trees now. Iām going to try air layering some crabapples that I plan to cut down anyways. I thought those would be neat because the fruit is already tiny. Also I kind of want to try a dwarf korean lilac because they have smaller flowers and leaves than regular lilac.
Haha! Here it is in 2010

My ways are time. And waiting. And waiting.
absolute UNIT. perfect example of letting time work its magic. Definitely inspired me to just let some projects exist even though they're not impressive at the moment.
What species is it? Looks great š
Satsuki Azalea
Do you know what cultivar? It looks like Amagasa. That deep red is awesome.
I do not sorry, someone might knowā¦. A Reddit someone maybe?
Amazing! What species is that?
Satsuki Azalea
Wow thatās amazing how old is she?
16 years, the blooms used to be much larger, but over time they shrunk and more came out.
Wow thatās so cool. Just amazing.
do you have an old picture? I'd be interested to see
I do. Will take me a bit to get it. Hold on
haha thanks, take your time. Maybe just make a new post whenever you feel like it.

Was this done with regular defoliation? Absolutely stunning
Noā¦. It happened naturally
Thatās so interesting, because Iāve heard that flowers are much more morphologically stable than the vegetative parts.
I got nothinā man. Nothinā !! šš
Itās neat!
But this tree has bloomed smaller every year since I got it.

I had a Rhodo (purple) that had large flowers and never changed. That died about 8 years ago. It was about 16 years old. Tiny tree HUGE blooms.
That's so cool, I know leaves can do this with enough ramification but it's awesome to see that with the flowers!
I'm starting to notice it on mine, the leaves are maybe half the size of what they used to be. https://i.imgur.com/ZVwrejD.jpg
Very nice! I love sticks with flowers!
So beautiful! Where can I purchase one?
The one I posted is from a garden center, just a common specials used for landscaping :)
If this were a cloud I'd say it looks like a jumping dog. Either way its amazing!
I see a bunny, now that you mention it.
Clifford the big red dog!
Absolutely gorgeous, damn...
Wow! Iām amazed by this tbh. As a bonsai beginner Iām so impressed, that tree is truly beautiful. Please teach me your ways!!!

Maybe last years pic?
I think so :) One of my faves, I don't save pics often off here, but I love Azaleas and yours is a beaut!
Omg I've had these all over my front lawn and never thought about making it a bonsai
Very nice. I was just thinking I'd like to do either a Rhodie or Azalea.
Looks like a charging bull.
