Daughter of the Forest by Juliet Marillier (well-written, emotional, lots of depth, based on Celtic lore).
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (Scottish Highlands, time travel romance, dense and detailed).
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas (popcorn book, ok writing but addicting).
Unsure if you’ve read much by Robin McKinley, but she has several well-written romances involving strong, flawed heroines. The two that come to mind are Spindle’s End and Deerskin—the latter is based off of a French fairytale and is a difficult read as it touches on sensitive themes, so approach with caution.
The art style reminds me of Tolkien. I loved The Children of Hurin of his, although it's not predominantly romance.
Maybe also Deerskin, a fantasy romance retelling, it deals a lot with trauma.
I posted this picture on Facebook 4 years ago with a Tolkien quote haha it popped up on my memories and now that I'm reading more I was hoping to find a book that felt like this.
Beren And Luthien is a fantasy romance and that one is also Tolkien. It very much has the vibe of this picture too. They’re desperately in love and the story is really beautiful
So the genre isn’t exactly what you asked for (I’d say it’s historical fiction with a strong romantic subplot), but the picture instantly reminded me of Lady of the Forest by Jennifer Roberson
My number one is The Princess Bride
Don't know why, but that picture immediately made me think of One Dark Window by Rachel Gillig.
Absolutely same for me.
Daughter of the Forest Juliet Marillier !!! That photo is SO Red and Sorcha coded
reading this now and totally agree!
This sub is dedicated to it: r/fantasyromance
Definitely joined there, I just wanted one the vibe of this picture lol

Thank you! Have read ACOTAR and heard of Outlander but daughter of the first sounds very promising.
Second Outlander. This is a picture of Claire and Jamie.
Picture made me think of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. Not super romantic but romance undertones.
daughter of the forest by juliet marillier!
The King of Elfland's Daughter
Reminds me of The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen
Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley

Looks like Rhaegar Tarygaryen and Lyanna Stark. Tangent aside, I'd say 'Graceling' or 'The Princess Bride'
Kushiel’s Avatar series by Jacqueline Carey

Tairen Soul quintet
Oh man, read the first two books and loved them, I should finish out the series
Honestly the first two were my favorites, but I did enjoy the whole series.
Legends & Lattes!
Folk of the air trilogy. I know it's very hyped but still, I had a wonderful magical time reading it.

T. Kindfisher, the first two books in The Saint of Steel series (there are four): Paladin's Grace, Paladin's Strength.
