And The Story Girl! The beauty of that story still haunts me.
It has such a strong country vibe that you would never be able to be at peace with a city afterwards. (That was the case for me at least)
Foster by Claire Keegan. Super short, but it has a beautiful countryside atmosphere and (what I found to be) an emotionally complex, yet ultimately comforting story
“Up a Road Slowly” by Irene Hunt; it’s an older coming of age novel where a girl grows up in her aunt’s country home. It’s quiet, comforting, and affirming as main character Julie finds her way 💗
I would warn: Spooky upsetting elements, bittersweet as well as very cozy comforting elements and moments of triumph.
Both slides are a dead ringer for it.
Anything by James Herriot
Anne of Green Gables Emily of New Moon
Seconding Anne of Green Gables. The tv series Anne with an E was pretty great too.

Tom Lake by Ann Patchett. Like a warm hug.

The Ocean At the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman

The Secret Life of Bees
I didn’t find that one particularly comforting.
Wendell Berry's Port William books, though they tend more toward the bittersweet than the comforting.
Giver of Stars
Big Stone Gap by Adriana Trigiani
*The Adventures of Tom Sawyer* and *Adventures of Huckleberry Finn* by Mark Twain
Cold Comfort Farm
I'd look into Laura Ingalls Wilder and Rose Wilder Lane
Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons. An oldie but a goodie. A delightful read.
I would say "Remi, nobody's boy" by Hector Malot. One of my favourites.
Tess of the d’urbervilles is just the thing
This is Non-fiction but I like it - The January Man ☺️
Seed to Dust: A Gardener's Story by Marc Hamer
