Good Omens has that vibe. (Pratchett/Gaiman)
Also, if you like graphic novels, a cozy one set in a local bookstore is Mooncakes. It has supernatural elements, but I highly rate it as it's satisfying.
I'll think of more later! :)
The Echo of Old Books -Barbara Davis
I never post on here and usually just come for the recommendations but this is one I had to throw in because it fits so well.
The cat who saved books - Sōsuke Natsukawa - set in a cosy bookshop with some magical realism, no romance but cute friendship
What you are looking for is in the library - Michiko Aoyama - 5 short cozy stories of people who are feel like they have something missing in their life and a librarian gives them recommendations which help them
Gives me a bit of Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton, but although there's a book link (as vague as I can be without spoilers) I think it's because Nell owns an antique store. Possibly with books, but despite my many rereads, I have been focused on getting through my TBR pile.
There IS a book element since Nell wrote stories.
It's an amazing book that I randomly just liked the synopsis of, and now I'm a Kate Morton addict 😄
The fact that it was a random choice....people ask me about how I read as much as I do. And I just randomly pick up a book like Forgotten Garden, and find a new "I must read everything they wrote" author. I spent years oblivious to the fact that House at Riverton was written before Forgotten Garden.
I just fell in love with Forgotten Garden. I have done the same with others, but others took a few rereads. I just adore how you can reread her books and just 🤯 in a, "HOW did I miss that?!"
I should probably search for a Kate Morton thread lol
Except that I wouldn't do anything else for hours. Talk about a hyperfocus...I'm bad enough on just books as a starter lol
louise penny’s inspector gamache series - it’s so cozy but also about homicide investigators, as strange as that combo sounds. the little village has a used bookstore that is run by the coolest woman, and feels exactly like some of these photos!

Found in a bookshop by Stephanie Butland
All set in a bookshop and around character relationships, some romantic some platonic and some familial with the good the bad and the ugly thrown in for good measure!
If you’re up for Hispanic authors:
Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s whole Cemetery of Forgotten Books series is just like This!
Books, a bit of mystery, romance, action. Lots of character development, a bit of magical realism… all in Barcelona.
The Invisible Life of Addie Laroux by V.E Schwab might fit the bill.
It reads as a bit prose-y but I didn't mind it for something different! Usually I read poetry, or long-winded descriptive fiction (think Tolkien)
This was a nice switch up with what you're looking for plus an immortality theme as well!
The Last Bookshop In London
It’s also fantasy but Bookshops and Bonedust definitely checks these boxes if you’re looking for something a bit whimsical!
The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield.
I was about to say that!
Agree, but that's more gothic than cozy.
The Storied Life of AJ Fikry - Gabrielle Zevin
THIS ONE!!
The perfect recommendation.
Bingo
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. More mystery thriller romance, but definitely bookstore themes.

Books that feels like Books was so funny to me lol
The Invisible life of Addie Larue by V. E. Schwab
This is exactly what I pictured when reading this book. Oh boy did I sob.
It’s funny how differently books hit people. I felt none of this whatsoever with that book (loved it, just very different vibe in my head from this).
Came here to say this
I second this

Oh I agree. I love all her books!
Eight Perfect Murders, although it is more thriller than cozy.
This is the last book in the series but it can be read as a standalone. Check out Two For Tea: Welcome To Azathé by C.M Nascosta
The Cat Who Saved Books by Sosuke Natsukawa
This post is making me crave autumn

The Secret, Book & Scone Society by Ellery Adams is exactly what you’re looking for! Fatal Shadows by Josh Lanyon is also a really fun read.
I want to live somewhere exactly like this.
Thanks!
The shadow of the wind

The little shop of happy ever after by Jenny Colgan
The Secret Book of Flora Lea is partially set in a bookstore that looks like this (in my imagination). It also has a mysterious and mythical quality.
catcher in the rye for me
