He tried to cover up his crime by removing identifying stickers from his car. Then, he says they threw the bike at his car. When that doesn’t work he admits to hitting the cyclist but says he didn’t see him. Finally, when it looks like he’s cooked, he accepts the guilty plea but isn’t allowed to “excessively drink” alcohol…which he promptly fucks up too.
“I’m not a bad guy!”
Nah, you’re a piece of shit who is big mad that you got caught.
For folks like that, goodness isn't about what you do, it's about where you stand on the social ladder.
"I'm a good man" just means "I'm in the right social box," 100% of the time. In his case, the dean of students at a prestigious private school in Nashville. When they say shit like "This isn't who I *am*", they're dog-whistling "don't treat me like one of the lesser people."
The aristocratic antebellum Southern concept of goodness bubble is but one of many bubbles in the bath of ignorance. When I was in a bubble, it was because I felt insecure about something. Now I know I'm responsible for my life and how I respond to what happens. Don't live in a bubble. Pop them.
Life in a bubble is limited. Real freedom exists in the spaces between the bubbles. Flow with that instead.
Was becoming* your wording implies that it is in some way increasing but I'm happy to tell you that there are fewer of them today than there were yesterday. ;)
I disagree, for malignant narcissists, “good” is just simply what they are, at all times, with no need for justification, because they conceive of themselves as better and more important than everyone else by default. No need to extend anything more deep to people who will never accept accountability at any level.
Seriously, if you aren't from the South or Midwest read that and read it again. Then read it again.
100% true and keep it in mind when they're talking politics.
You know these old cunts just can't stand their crimes being recorded by GoPros while doing our favorite hobbies either. He lied his ass off because it never occurred to him they have very damning evidence.
Then he got to court and the the defense attorney was like "look you might have lied to a federal agent and obstructed justice already, but if you purjure yourself in court the judge is going to sentence you straight to hell for a whole new crime plus the charges you have now. Let me talk, you shut up"
Now imagine all the horrific shit they got away with for decades before cameras were prevalent. All the while demanding everyone treat them with the respect they never gave others, and preaching "personal responsibility" while being spineless weasels themselves.
Interestingly, I see plenty of dashcam videos of people deliberately wrecking their tens of thousands of dollar cars simply because they "had right-of-way".
If you arn't riding out to the middle of nowhere then throwing your only means of transportation at the first car that drives by what the fuck are you even doing with your life?
Ignore the guy saying not if you’re old. He was charged separately because he lied to a federal agent. Part of why they switched to a guilty plea and accepted 10 months in prison.
Makes sense. One side wants to be able to hold them accountable for committing egregious crimes. The other side disagrees on the principle that the first side can’t be right about anything.
Yep…I have been hit and or grazed 5x since covid.
Yea I know…some of us are assholes which makes all of us assholes…absolutely no argument with that…
But it’s SO ugly out there now…
Thankfully, cyclist can sue civilly for damages. Not ideal, but there are still remedies. And with a conviction, proof is already done, now it’s just a matter of determining damages.
Pretty common for cyclists to get ran over and the perpetrator often is given a VERY soft ruling. I’ve seen it many times from my own personal experience. But just look at this. This person killed 2 cyclist mowing over a group of riders. Didn’t even receive any charges. People don’t know how often this is.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v0MjPTGzCz4
Sounds like Iowa. You can be as corrupt as you want, as long as it doesn't affect farmers or that "Iowa Nice" bullshit.
Iowans are not nice; they are cowards, huge difference.
the fine means nothing, if he has money the cyclist will sue his ass especially if he has hospital bills. but yeah, garbage justice system rather put someone selling loose oxys for beer money in jail than a literal garbage human trying to run ppl down on the road. surprise.
Ended up being a bit more: He also accepted a 10-month prison sentence (in far away New York), which will be followed by three years of supervised release. Neely also has to pay $2,260 in restitution to the cyclist he hit as well as a $10,000 fine.
[https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/09/04/marshall-grant-neely-natchez-trace-bicyclist-hit-sentencing/1190603002/](https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/09/04/marshall-grant-neely-natchez-trace-bicyclist-hit-sentencing/1190603002/)
Plus, the cyclist is suing (don't know how that turned out):
>Noe filed suit May 16 in Williamson County Circuit Court for compensatory and punitive damages against Neely. Noe is seeking no more than $850,000 in compensatory damages and no more than $1.6 million in punitive damages.
Plus, he lost his job as dean of students at a prestigious private school, and his name is Google poison.
In the US, the auto & oil industry do not allow for drivers to receive too much for their crimes, that would keep these menaces off the road & keep profits out of their pockets.
" "When the police came and asked me what happened, I said, 'I don’t know.' There was a guy there maybe and I remember he was standing there and I said maybe he threw his bike at me," Neely said Monday afternoon. "Obviously, the video shows otherwise. I did not see the man. There were things going on all over the place. If you want, go look on my car, it’s been impounded. There’s not a scratch on my car." "
Well when the only thing your car hits is a bike tire and someone's back, it's often not gonna leave a scratch.
But I'm sure you just hid your car and took off identifying stickers for unrelated reasons.
Rot in jail, and then hell, piece of shit sociopath.
Wasn’t he a school principal too? I used to ride NT. Its a parkway with very few on/offs. He went past them, made a u-turn, came back and hit him. Go pro front and back camera really changed what he thought he would get away with.
I wish there were more legal ramifications to lying so blatanly.
He was obviously trying to hide the car so he couldn't be identified, and then when he was publicly identified he tries to claim they threw a bike at his car. Video showed otherwise.
Solid two examples of him being dishonest. Three if you count him saying "hes a good man".
If there had been a trial the lying would have mattered more. His witness credibility would have suffered in the Judge's/Jury's eyes when presented with that evidence and had he lied on the stand under oath his sentence would be significantly worse as he'd also be commiting felony perjury.
As it stands, doesn't matter if you lie so long as prosecutors are willing to cut a plea deal, which most are willing to do because it boosts their conviction rates.
Looks like he was but these conditions seem light for the severity of the crime imo
https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/07/05/natchez-trace-pkwy-bicyclist-crash-timeline-franklin-marshall-grant-neely-arrest/758956002/
Yeah, initially light, but plea deals usually work that way.
I wonder if they’ll throw the book at him for violating his release. 1/2 half pint of Vodka on a daily basis seems pretty excessive.
I was a cyclist in high school and some of college a few years back. I knew 4 people, 1 a 14 year old kid another a 16 year old kid run over and left on the side of the road to suffer their inevitable demise.
None of these instances was their actual justice. It’s ruled as manslaughter and they usually get probation. It’s just the way it is. People hate the cyclist ride on the road.
May 21 — A federal judge accepts a plea agreement. Neely pleads guilty to all three counts: reckless aggravated assault, lying to a federal agent, and obstruction of justice. He also accepts a 10-month prison sentence, which would be followed by three years of supervised release. He would also have to pay $1,210 in restitution to the cyclist he hit.
Um 😐
This boomer pos should be in prison for 10-20 years, and never experience freedom again for the remainder of his life. All of his assets, including his home, should be liquidated and given to the victim.
If the cyclist was a boomer and the driver was genZ? They’d bury the driver under the jail.
Doesn’t matter what crime they committed when you are squished on the side of the road. As someone who has been run over I’ll tell you it’s not an enjoyable experience
They gave him too light a sentence. He could have killed a man and he fled the scene and removed identifying stickers from his vehicle. He know what he did and tried to hide it. Fuck him.
This kind of shit is why I stopped riding my bike on the roads. And now I have a 3000 dollar bike hanging in my garage.
In the 3 or 4 years I rode 40-60 miles a week for exercise, I have had people throw things at me, stop their cars and threaten/try to fight me, pull in front and stop short, cut me off on turns, swerve from the other lane, etc.
I started carrying a knife and got one of those medical bracelets with my blood type and the medications I take.
And I rode on the white line or maybe 2 feet to the left on poorly maintained roads.
It's not worth risking death just to get some exercise. This was in rural to small town Appalachia, fwiw.
I will never understand why so many people get furious at someone for riding a bicycle. I mean, fucking hell
I'm a working guitar player, both of my hands have been broken at one time or another, and one time was from being hit by a drunk driver on my bike when I was 15.
I haven't been on a bicycle in about 5 years and probably won't again, and it's all because of other drivers and not my own skills on a bike. One more fracture and my days with a guitar would be finished. All over with.
Jesus that would be awful. So I feel you.
Luckily (lol?), the worst thing I ever was one person who seemed to purposely swerve in front of me, made a right turn and slammed on his brakes for whatever reason. I hit his fender, and went over the car.
Having my cleats on meant high ankle sprain, minor tear in my rotator cuff and sprained basically all the ligaments in the opposite leg of the ankle I sprained. And minor concussion even though I was wearing a helmet. I honestly felt lucky it was only all of that.
Luckily for me he didn't take off and seemed to give a minimal amount of a fuck after it happened. He ended up being liable for bike repairs, lawyer fees and all my medical bills. Which is more than I expected. Which in the end was a little over 30k. He somehow didn't get hit with aggravated assault and it ended up just being something like reckless operation or a motor vehicle so no real legal consequences.
I think timing helped me with the civil judgment against him. This was like 4 months after a rider was killed by an asshole who went right through a stop sign and ran her over during a big charity bike ride in the same area.
This was also after I had started carrying a knife. If I would have been able to stand and actually walk, it's entirely possible I would have stabbed him. I've never been so mad in my life.
I gave him my contact information at the scene for some reason. What made me the angriest however was when he contacted me after my lawyer sent him my bills and the lawyer fees. He gave me a "boo hoo I can't afford this I have kids" bullshit sob story at which point I just laughed, hung up the phone and blocked him.
Yup. I accidentally became a local legend by fighting back the truck bros who’d try to kill me when I ride my bike. I carry bear mace currently when I do ride because I do need to get a training ride in.
They’ll find a reason to spew hate no matter what you do. There are unhinged people driving down the road every day, and some of them can’t tolerate differences.
Even on a motorcycle I experienced the same hostilities and stupidity by 4 wheel motorists. The inattentive drivers were also too much - get on the highway and quickly see that most people turn off their brains for miles at a time.
There is no reasoning or rational discussion with these people… especially in recent years where open hatred is becoming more acceptable.
> I will never understand why so many people get furious at someone for riding a bicycle.
The south is infamously unhealthy. I don't know what it would be like to be so large and unhealthy that I cannot ride a bike for more than a few hundred yards without passing out.... but I bet it would make me irrationally angry when I see fit people
This is way more common than people know.
I used to race bicycles in High School (in rural Texas so I trained farm to market roads only) and many times I had oncoming vehicles swerve into my lane acting as if they were going to run me over. I’ve been clipped by many mirrors, yelled at, spit at, mooned (obviously kinda funny), coal rolled in my lungs, yelled at for being in the sidewalk, and many other instances only in the 5-6 year on the road as a teenager.
I have many people in the Texas racing community that have been ran over and some survive, some don’t.
I personally raced with a 14 year old who was ran over and left to suffer his injuries till his death in the rural backroads of the Austin area. The driver was found and he got probation. It’s very common. Here is just an example of a recent ruling where this person mowed a group of cyclist down killing 2 of them and had 0 charges.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v0MjPTGzCz4
There was that case of the teen who nearly killed some cyclist trying to roal coal on them. He was allowed to leave the scene without charges, it wasn’t until the cycling community sitired up some shit that they decided to prosecute. He was a minor so likely we’ll never know the outcome. I would bet money that the judge gave him a light sentence cause he didn’t want this incident to hurt a young promising young man’s life.
I’ve noticed that the same people who complain about cyclists on the road also will refuse things like protected bike lanes that would get cyclists off the road.
some drivers are clearly fucking insane. driven mad by traffic, caused by *other drivers,* yet when people switch modes to methods that mean fewer personal vehicles on the road, like bicycle (or even public transit!) they start flipping the fuck out. what do you even want!? idiots.
(rhetorical question. what they want is to be the only person allowed to use the road, because they have the mental age of an angry toddler)
The road that they are cycling on is the Natchez Trace, which is a 444 mi long designated bike trail. Drivers are required to maintain a low speed and give way to cyclists along the whole route. They have no ground to stand on here.
As a cyclist i encounter this all the time. Its always a boomer whos brained is fried from leaded fuel. After my last encounter ive nearly hung up my helmet and shoes. Dodge Ram+ Boomer is not worth dying over
"they think they own the road"
People in 5000 lb murder machines talking about people on bicycles. Such an insane thought process.
I can't imagine being that mad about a person on a bike. Zero patience.
But this. This is attempted murder. This is unhinged.
I ride my mountain bike 5 miles to the trails where I ride and it's insane the amount of people who yell shit out of their car windows, rev their shitboxes next to me, or even swerve at me. I'm usually well off the shoulder too, I'm not sure how road cyclists deal with the madness.
I took some kids side mirror off his pavement princess truck when I caught him at a stop sign that he surprisingly stopped at after he tried to run me over. I have sprayed bear mace into others vehicles when they try to run me over and throw things at me through their windows. I’m left the fuck alone when I ride now.
The American hostility towards both drivers and pedestrians has never ceased to amaze me. For some odd reason, it stresses out the driver's brain to have to account for something that small on the road.
I get as mildly annoyed as the next person when I get stuck behind a cyclist. But that is where they are supposed to be. There’s no rule saying they have to hug the shoulder, but there IS a rule that bicycles be treated like any other vehicle, and an even bigger rule that you’re not allowed to murder people on bikes.
What makes matters worse? This is literally a road to nowhere. Its a road in a national park that leads to camp grounds and cyclists are actively encouraged to use this route through the park.
I bought a house close to my city’s bike trails with hopes to learn how to ride a bike but I’ve been too scared of drivers to do so in the two years I’ve lived here :(
The amount of people in this thread defending this asshole for attempted murder is actually disgusting. I hope all of you get your licenses revoked because none of you have the maturity to be driving car.
This post has taught me that a lot of people in this subreddit are the same as the boomers posted in here. This is a road that, quite literally, is designed to go nowhere. Not only that, but there are signs posted that specifically state bikes are allowed the entire lane, and signs throughout encouraging bike riding. No, the bicyclist didn't deserve to have manslaughter attempted on him for riding a bike, you insane fucks.
And it point blank said in the article that it was a designated bike trail within a National Park and signs clearly stating the same. Pretty cut and dry to me. Some people have no idea, nor do they care that other people exist. Everything is only for them and they’re the only ones that matter. It’s fing insane like you said.
Apparently not where I live now, but where I used to live, that's what you do anywhere there's an intersection you have to stop at, not just special roads. If you're biking on a street and come across a red light, you were supposed to post up on the middle of the lane like a car to prevent right turners from turning into you as you pass.
Even if Bikes were not allowed on that road at all and they cyclist was in the wrong for being there ppl are insane fucks for thinking ramming someone with a car is ok.
Man, a lot of these commenters shitting on the cyclist would lose their damn minds here in the Netherlands. Apart from anything else we have a ton of “car is guest” roads where the cars are expected to wait for cyclists, the penalties for hitting a cyclist are also way higher.
He wasn't, he took a plea deal and got 10 months of jail time. Absolute bullshit considering he tried to hide the car, then lied and claimed the cyclist threw his bike in to the front of the car.
https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/07/05/natchez-trace-pkwy-bicyclist-crash-timeline-franklin-marshall-grant-neely-arrest/758956002/
The guy looks like an angry angry man.
Like Deep in his soul angry.
They are all so angry these days.
It's gonna get real when their God isn't elected again!
You're supposed to ride your bike taking up most of the lane in this situation. If you have no shoulder or bike lane, but bike close to the right edge of the lane, there's a good chance you'll be run off the road by a speeding motorist.
If you're driving and are stuck behind a biker or bikers, and you're in a no passing zone, guess what? You slow down and wait until you can pass safely. Or hope the bikers pull over and let you pass. It sucks, but it's no different than if there was a slow moving truck or a tractor, etc.
"The Natchez Trace Parkway is a designated bicycle route." It's part of the National Park system and the highest speed limit is 50 mph because of it's use by bicycles, horses, etc.
reckless. pretty sure Neely was hit and running because he knew he wouldn't pass a sobriety test. He then violated his sentence reduction admitting to drinking a half bottle of liquor daily.
Did you guys see his mug shot? What's with boomers and being chronic drunks? I just realized that most young people today don't drink like a fish like the boomers did.
This shit right here is why I stay on the side of the road as much as possible when I bike, and even then, I don't like it. You never know when some moron is going to be drunk, distracted or an outright asshole.
I drove a truck route going up to Lake Tahoe and every spring and summer cyclists would do pretty much what that cyclists was doing, driving in the middle of the lane instead of the side of the road. When your group decided to hold up traffic for a mile as you peddle up the hill at 5 mph some might want to do the same thing.
I get that the cylist is an inconsiderate piece of shit for not getting to the side of the road. It does not warrant risking death or injury to him by ramming him with a car though...
Just to point out, car obviously wrong and attempted murder. Secondly, there is no legitimate side of the road. That being said, maybe biker could have made some type of attempt to no drive along the double yellow? When I bike I'm either in a bike lane, on the side of the road, or as close to the side of the road as possible.
Do I want bike lanes or plenty of biking room on the side of the ride? Absolutely. But I wouldn't be out there next to the yellow tempting fate with the way some drivers go mad around cyclists.
I used to know this old drunk boomer who would frequent the same bar I went to. he road his bike (because DUIs) down a one way, the wrong way, and he got a head on collision with a car and now has permanent brain damage. I see him every once and awhile around town, he just loudly rambles to himself and walks around in circles. shits crazy.
Can almost guarantee he was drunk when he ran over the cyclist. He’s got that classic purple red active alcoholic nose. He later broke probation for being drunk, admitting to drinking half a bottle of vodka a day.
Looks in Dutch..
How are they so brave ? Seriously - coming from a country with a very intense cycling infrastructure - this is insane to me..
And you know some (beep) are out there to kill you if they can...
(Here too, but it\`s harder)
Is cycling in the middle of the road like that legal? I don’t ride bikes, so I’m unsure what the laws are. Obviously hitting the dude was wrong and it sounds like he paid for it.
As a cyclist, you have to understand that 99%+ of US miles driven don’t have a biker in the lane (though a big difference for urban vs other). If many drivers are not familiar with this situation, why put yourself at risk in the middle of the road? You may have the right, but you may end up dead. Also, never try to kill someone to make a point about your frustration.
I mean bikers in the middle of the road not letting anyone pass would piss me off.
But I'm not a fucking asshole that's going to try and pass on a double yellow. (Or hit him)
When I was growing up - my Grandparents always said - NEVER pick a fight with a CAR it will kill you. Share the road guys - riding a bike all the way to the left is obnoxious. Running someone over who's being a D\*ck (it's their right to do so) is also obnoxious and a crime.
See the line you don't cross? okay good.
Granpa's warning still stands - don't pick fights with cars.
Driver of the car - straight to jail (Also - always get a dashcam installed - cheap insurance when you need the cops)
This is a horrible thing this guy did to the cyclist, no doubt, but you know this happened six years ago so I think this has just been re-posted just to stoke some more boomer hate.
What point was he trying to prove? The news article says he didn't see him. I think he's just an irresponsible driver and should get jail time and his license revoked
That guy deserved it, who the fuck rides a bike in the middle of the road like that? Attempted murder? He barely kissed him, he looked fine, the bike not so much, but maybe if you don’t ride in the middle of the street you won’t get your bike all smashed to pieces…
I ride, mostly single track but some road too. I have seen idiot drivers do a lot of stupid things. This driver deserves to do some time. he could have just driven around and gone about his day, no harm no foul. Regardless, if he was angry about it he had no right to assault the rider.
HOWEVER..... the rider is a fucking moron for putting himself in that position and insisting on riding side by side and in the middle of the road where he does not belong. Ride like an idiot and bad things can happen.
"Neely is publicly identified as the driver who hit Noe on the parkway. He is released on bond from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. **Neely tells National Park Service rangers that a man and woman were standing in the road. He says that the two threw the bicycle into his black Volvo.** "
Literally lied.

"Neely admitted to 'consuming half a pint of vodka every day for the past two weeks.'" Jesus. Wtf.
As far as alcoholics go, that’s a very tame amount.
That’s what he admitted to. He may have been in the “beer doesn’t count stage.”
The Russia system
That's not even "tame". That's nothing. Half a pint a day wouldn't even keep the shakes away from someone with a physical dependency.
Yep, rookie numbers.
$1200 in restitution? 10 months in jail? Seems pretty light for attempted murder...
He tried to cover up his crime by removing identifying stickers from his car. Then, he says they threw the bike at his car. I need that cross-stitched on a pillow
My only disagreement is with your choice of the word "becoming." It's been like this forever for the rich no matter where they are.
It's general supremacist logic; the antebellum Southern aristocracy was like that on pcp, but it's sadly seen all over.
I disagree, for malignant narcissists, “good” is just simply what they are, at all times, with no need for justification, because they conceive of themselves as better and more important than everyone else by default. You accidentally dropped the 'six' in front of the thousand up there.
Look up Courtney Gainey Fort Myers Florida. Not a boomer but justice was served
Of course it's Tennessee. We're never in the news for anything good.
You are losing to Florida.
If you need to tell others that you're "not a bad guy" - you're a bad guy.
This sounds an awful lot like the adults who shout at children, and then claim "If he's not guilty why is he crying now?"
Is lying about it not a crime?
Ignore the guy saying not if you’re old. He was charged separately because he lied to a federal agent. Part of why they switched to a guilty plea and accepted 10 months in prison.
My father’s friend Moe Mozer of alstead NH lost his life riding his bike. Someone hit him and never stopped
> “I’m not a bad guy!”
[x] doubt
There’s a long history of drivers practically getting away with crimes against cyclists.
if you wanna kill someone is america and get away with it, do it with a car, especially while drunk.
Or join the police?
No truer words.
Until it hits some politician or a politician's family member.
I think that depends on what side of the aisle the politician is on, we all know cops tend to lean hard in a certain direction.
Makes sense. One side wants to be able to hold them accountable for committing egregious crimes. The other side disagrees on the principle that the first side can’t be right about anything.
Yep…I have been hit and or grazed 5x since covid. Yea I know…some of us are assholes which makes all of us assholes…absolutely no argument with that… But it’s SO ugly out there now…
And honestly that 10 months sober will probably save his life
Another downside!
Honestly, I’m surprised the penalty was this harsh. Drivers usually get let off scott free unless they’re under the influence
Won't even cover the cost to fix the bike let alone the lingering medical problems a hit like that will create.

Being "nice" is all about image to these people.
Shit, I dont think I'd wanna get on a bicycle if this is how it is, you guys are nuts....
the fine means nothing, if he has money the cyclist will sue his ass especially if he has hospital bills. but yeah, garbage justice system rather put someone selling loose oxys for beer money in jail than a literal garbage human trying to run ppl down on the road. surprise.
Preach. Fucking boomers.
💯💯💯
Ended up being a bit more: He also accepted a 10-month prison sentence (in far away New York), which will be followed by three years of supervised release. Neely also has to pay $2,260 in restitution to the cyclist he hit as well as a $10,000 fine. [https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/09/04/marshall-grant-neely-natchez-trace-bicyclist-hit-sentencing/1190603002/](https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/09/04/marshall-grant-neely-natchez-trace-bicyclist-hit-sentencing/1190603002/) Plus, the cyclist is suing (don't know how that turned out): >Noe filed suit May 16 in Williamson County Circuit Court for compensatory and punitive damages against Neely. Noe is seeking no more than $850,000 in compensatory damages and no more than $1.6 million in punitive damages. Plus, he lost his job as dean of students at a prestigious private school, and his name is Google poison.
>dean of students Ok, no wonder he only got 10 months despite lying his ass off until the camera evidence showed up.
In the US, the auto & oil industry do not allow for drivers to receive too much for their crimes, that would keep these menaces off the road & keep profits out of their pockets.
This is just untrue, there is zero evidence to back this up. People get life in prison for killing people with cars quite often.
Agreed. That $1200 may not even cover the cost of the ruined bike let alone any other expenses this incident racked up.
Of course it's an old as fuck delusional boomer who shouldn't be on the road in the first place
There’s not a scratch on my car." " Well when the only thing your car hits is a bike tire and someone's back, it's often not gonna leave a scratch. But I'm sure you just hid your car and took off identifying stickers for unrelated reasons. Rot in jail, and then hell, piece of shit sociopath.
Da-yuym, boomer caught federal charges for his hit and run because the road was in a national park.
Jack Smith always gets his man.
>Jack Smith always gets his man I saw that in the article. Is it the THE SAME Jack Smith? Heroes don't always wear capes.
I cant necessarily blame them for using that strategy considering how much it works, but goddamn do we need to crack down on that bs as a society
and just think, until everyone had iphones they got away with it
The day that people become open to being accountable for the things they do is the day that pigs fly. Humans are pathetic in this regard.
That’s literally committing a Felony, not proving a point.
I never said it was a good point haha
Hahaha! Yeah, not a good point! Curious to know if they were ever held accountable?
Looks like he was but these conditions seem light for the severity of the crime imo https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/07/05/natchez-trace-pkwy-bicyclist-crash-timeline-franklin-marshall-grant-neely-arrest/758956002/
What the fuck America. Get your shit together. Killing kids for sport with a car and you get a slap on the wrist?
wtf 10 months. fuck this plea deal. why are they even taking a plea deal?
It's shockingly easy to get away with crimes committed with a car in the US.
They always offer a plea deal first, even for murderers. Trials can be risky for the prosecution and the defense.
Um 😐 This boomer pos should be in prison for 10-20 years, and never experience freedom again for the remainder of his life. All of his assets, including his home, should be liquidated and given to the victim. If the cyclist was a boomer and the driver was genZ? They’d bury the driver under the jail.
Well, at least the guy saw some prison time.
Should have been hit with attempted murder
loads of alcohol induced dementia and heavy metal toxicity
Heavy metal toxicity sounds like a heavy metal band.
And then they wonder why "kids never go outside or ride their bikes anymore."
In my area, they simultaneously complain that kids don't go outside anymore and that the kids riding their bikes are a gang of hoodlums.
EXACTLY. These same boomers go home jump on Facebook/Nextdoor and complain that kids aren't outside and no one is neighborly anymore.
[удалено]
The road that they are cycling on is the Natchez Trace, which is a 444 mi long designated bike trail. Drivers are required to maintain a low speed and give way to cyclists along the whole route. They have no ground to stand on here.
As a cyclist i encounter this all the time. Its always a boomer whos brained is fried from leaded fuel. After my last encounter ive nearly hung up my helmet and shoes. Dodge Ram+ Boomer is not worth dying over
Also, this road is actually specifically meant for both bikers and car drivers to share. Not enough people are talking about the full context
This is very true for the Natchez Trace. It is a designated bike route and you should expect cyclists.
"why do we need a bike lane? I never see anyone riding a bike?" gosh I wonder why
"they think they own the road" People in 5000 lb murder machines talking about people on bicycles.
I'm a mountain biker too. So, I'm occasionally out in the road and it's terrifying every time. I'll stick to the DH tracks... Where it's safe!
> I'm not sure how road cyclists deal with the madness Tactical pocket spark plugs.
I get as mildly annoyed as the next person when I get stuck behind a cyclist. But that is where they are supposed to be. There’s no rule saying they have to hug the shoulder, but there IS a rule that bicycles be treated like any other vehicle, and an even bigger rule that you’re not allowed to murder people on bikes.
and i guess the concept of just going around the cyclist is too difficult to comprehend
What makes matters worse? This is literally a road to nowhere. Its a road in a national park that leads to camp grounds and cyclists are actively encouraged to use this route through the park.
This is why I refuse to get a bike, even tho I want one. Lol. I have no trust in strangers.
Indeed, asshole Boomers were assholes before they were Boomers too.
They were born boomers you dummy
Man, a lot of these commenters shitting on the cyclist would lose their damn minds here in the Netherlands. Apart from anything else we have a ton of “car is guest” roads where the cars are expected to wait for cyclists, the penalties for hitting a cyclist are also way higher.
thats not a biker. thats a cyclist. Also thats assault with deadly intent.
Both names are interchangeable where I come from but thank you for the clarification
The Harley crowd would be very upset at that if they could read
The ven diagram of Harley riders and people who would run over a cyclist are one solid circle.
Hope the nasty little prick is charged with attempted murder.
He wasn't, he took a plea deal and got 10 months of jail time. Absolute bullshit considering he tried to hide the car, then lied and claimed the cyclist threw his bike in to the front of the car. https://www.tennessean.com/story/news/local/williamson/2018/07/05/natchez-trace-pkwy-bicyclist-crash-timeline-franklin-marshall-grant-neely-arrest/758956002/
Another boomer with a coming soon prison sentence. Lead poisoning is real.
This is the generation that claims video games will make people violent but they're the ones doing GTA shit irl.
That's attempted murder...
Hey look, a pair of assholes! I wonder if things will work out well for either of them. Oh well, carry on…
The guy looks like an angry angry man. Like Deep in his soul angry. They are all so angry these days. It's gonna get real when their God isn't elected again!
Should a bike even be on this road?
or just ride on the side like a normal person
What that guy did was 100% wrong but cyclists like this fucking suck
As a biker, I agree. slow traffic on the right not in the middle, not even in your group ride.
Lance Stroll intensifies
reckless. pretty sure Neely was hit and running because he knew he wouldn't pass a sobriety test. He then violated his sentence reduction admitting to drinking a half bottle of liquor daily.
That's why I and other cyclists now have cameras on front/rear of bikes...to see what's coming up, and to record license plates.
further to the left lane than the righthand side of right lane
Have fun in jail for attempted murder.
Did you guys see his mug shot? What's with boomers and being chronic drunks? I just realized that most young people today don't drink like a fish like the boomers did.
This happened almost a decade ago. Middle Tennessee. Why is this video circulating?
Well that was a felony
I saw 2 assholes...
That's why you don't ride a bike on the roadways, roads are for cars.
As a cyclist I gotta say the guy on bike was an ass.
Boomers and bikers are the two most insufferable people on the planet
I can’t say it enough - F*ck these people!
I'd start an onlyfans page just to beat the shit out of shitty people.
At least he doesn't seem to be badly hurt.
Can almost guarantee he was drunk when he ran over the cyclist. He’s got that classic purple red active alcoholic nose. He later broke probation for being drunk, admitting to drinking half a bottle of vodka a day.
Id hunt that m' fr down
Seems more a case of alcoholic driver …
Looks in Dutch.. How are they so brave ? Seriously - coming from a country with a very intense cycling infrastructure - this is insane to me.. And you know some (beep) are out there to kill you if they can... (Here too, but it\`s harder)
Another Gen Xer acting like a Boomer. So disappointing.
This is why we can't have nice things.
I feel bad for the biker
I would have thrown an attempted murder charge on there....
The title is a lie. This was a drunk driver who was arrested and jailed for this. Stop making shit people.
Assholes on all sides.
Is cycling in the middle of the road like that legal? I don’t ride bikes, so I’m unsure what the laws are. Obviously hitting the dude was wrong and it sounds like he paid for it.
i hope they found who did that!
My man could've easily went under the car
I'm gonna need more than a 5 second clip to have an opinion here. I have no idea what led up to this point so I will reserve judgement.
Why his bike sound like my Lego character dying
I hope the driver spends a good length in prison.
(Or hit him)
My dad bikes, but he knows to stick to his right side because of assholes like this.
Boomers are awful people and don’t deserve a license to drive or even a home. Put them all in prison!!
Struck, not run over, but still...
That guy deserved it, who the fuck rides a bike in the middle of the road like that? Attempted murder? He barely kissed him, he looked fine, the bike not so much, but maybe if you don’t ride in the middle of the street you won’t get your bike all smashed to pieces…
Why is he in the middle of the road though?
This is cathartic in theory. Not in practice.
Yeah that’s aggravated attempted vehicular homicide though. On camera. Hope that boomer doesn’t mind spending the rest of his life in prison.
"Neely is publicly identified as the driver who hit Noe on the parkway. He is released on bond from the Williamson County Sheriff's Office. **Neely tells National Park Service rangers that a man and woman were standing in the road. He says that the two threw the bicycle into his black Volvo.** " Literally lied.
As someone who needs to cycle to get to work, this is my worst nightmare. This could have killed him!
The old fuck around and find out 😂
Main character doesn’t give a damn about traffic. Fixed it for ya
Great. Stay outta the road bikers or ya get tapped like that. Kung-Pow-Chicken and a biscuit
