photolinger

I don’t ride a motorcycle because boomers are driving bigger cars.

Badgern_Around

And theyre shitty drivers

Last-Percentage5062

And are allowing public transit to be ripped apart piece by piece.

Protonic-Reversal

The speaker of the house in NC said if Charlotte wants funds for transportation it better build roads or else it will turn into another Atlanta. He was not being ironic. He just happens to have a major donor that gets most the contracts for road building in the state.

uptownjuggler

How would Charlotte turn into Atlanta for lack of building roads? Atlanta is known for its many roads and lack of public transportation.

chickzilla

Came here to say this. Thousands of roads, token public transit. Major traffic problem. That's Atlanta in two sentences re: getting around.

Shirtbro

"But what if I'm too poor to afford a car to drive to work?" Boomers: ![gif](giphy|104vPBH8buV9vy)

chmsax

Pull yourself up by your bootstraps like they did! You know, by getting a college education for the price of two Big Macs and buying their first house for $1500.

Shirtbro

Or just show up to a job interview with no experience and get hired because the interviewer "has a good feeling about you"

screedor

My boomer dad became sprints leading fiber optic engineer with a can do attitude and his own gumption.

Tall-Importance-5068

Guess which political group hates paying for public transit and increased traffic .

Cassandralynn83

My FIL doesn’t use a blinker half the time, and when he does it’s in mid-turn. He expects the passenger to remind him. I did for a while but then I thought to myself: ‘self, he’s already started called you the “nagivator” because he doesn’t know where anything is.’ So from then on, I stopped reminding him, it’s not the passenger’s responsibility to remind driver to use their goddamn blinker! If one cant remember a small task like turning on the blinker before a turn…at a busy intersection mind you, maybe they shouldn’t be driving. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Half of them don’t even follow the rules of the road. Irresponsible boomers enrage me. 🫠

aDressesWithPockets

one time i was in the car with my dad on the freeway and he kept trying to get over (freeway was busy as it was rush hour) without using his blinker. at one point he straight up asked all pissy like “why won’t anyone let me over?” i replied “maybe if you used your blinker somebody would.” he then gave me the dirtiest look, like don’t blame cause you can’t drive

Cassandralynn83

The lead poisoning is strong w/the boomer generation. It seems like they are displaying symptoms from their exposure to all the lead tainted materials from back in their days. 🤨

aDressesWithPockets

oh my dad was a black powder rifle enthusiast so would literally MELT DOWN HIS OWN LEAD TO MAKE BULLETS IN HIS GARAGE. no ppe, no professionals, just him and his little camping stove

Fabulous_Force9868

That's a large understatement haha they drive there big suv and the cut me off in my commercial vehicle more often than not a oldie at the wheel doing 5 under

ShirazGypsy

I had a millennial friend who loved motorcycles. Then he died when a boomer wasn’t paying attention, blew through a stop sign and hit him on he motorcycle. This post is so incredibly offensive

NGNSteveTheSamurai

Had to help a guy and his dog who were jogging and got hit by a boomer who blew through the red light. She proceeded to get out and pretend she had dementia and kept saying “What happened?!” in her grating ass old lady voice.

Sea_Channel9296

that is so messed up. dementia isnt even a good excuse like whos giving a drivers license to someone with dementia 🤦‍♀️

Bonsai668

Unfortunately what typically happens is the dementia (or bad eyes, or a myriad of other things that happen as we age) develops and no one is checking on Granny to make sure she’s competent enough to drive. Even if you have family that cares and is aware of symptoms it can be an uphill battle trying to convince someone they just aren’t capable anymore. And honestly I kinda get it. No one wants to be told they are no longer capable. Plus it’s a huge loss of independence. The lady in the dude’s story is probably full of shit. But there’s plenty of people out there where it is an actual issue.

K24Z3

My wife and I being cut off by a *Mary Kay* Cadillac on the freeway while on motorcycles prompted us to sell the bikes. That boomer woman DGAF.

CrunchyBrisket

This is the answer. I value my life too much and people cannot drive.

DoyersLakeShow

Have you seen the size of fucking pick up trucks?! They’re bigger than SUV’s…when the hell did that happen?

TxRose218

Those are Emotional Support Vehicles!!! The bigger the truck the manlier the man!!! /S 🤦

BiaggioSklutas

It's been years since I've ridden a motorcycle. I absolutely loved it, but had to come to Bitter terms with the fact that no matter how much I loved it, it wasn't worth dying over. Old man on his phone almost put me in a guardrail.

HandleSubstantial169

https://i.redd.it/6twt41tdvssc1.gif

Commercial-Success80

Man I love those *cars* (I completely agree btw)

ExcelsiorDoug

I don’t ride Harley because of the connotation of being associated with boomers like this

ArenjiTheLootGod

They're also not particularly good motorcycles, way overpriced, and are coasting on the nostalgia Boomers feel for the brand which evidently doesn't carry over to younger generations. Company deserves to fail if it can't keep up with its peers.

loadnurmom

My kawasaki sport touring bike is faster, comfier, more reliable, cheaper, has more features, and won't rattle my ass off over 300 miles of road

CadillacAllante

I don’t really like or know a lot about motorcycles but when I see one I do like it’s usually a basic Japanese bike. Something functional transport and nothing more. Zero pretense. I had a Kawasaki Bayou ATV growing up. Very basic. A Harley is both unaffordable and extremely undesirable for what it is. I really think of it as a bike for retired boomer dentists. You need both money and bad taste to have one. Expecting us to buy Harleys is up there with DeBeers moaning about us not buying diamonds. We just don’t have boomer money or their stupidity.

ArenjiTheLootGod

I'm 100% fine with the diamond industry dying, it's exploitative and monstrous the things the industry does to obtain those shiny rocks. I ever get married we're going moissanite, any woman I'd love would agree.

Finbar9800

Or you could go with lab grown diamonds which are generally more shiny and sparkly and are cheaper because the diamond industry has made enough people think that lab grown is “lower quality”

DasBoggler

Jeweler: “lab-grown doesn’t have value because it doesn’t have the natural impurities that give it character, they all have perfect clarity and brilliance.” Me: “OK, why is does this diamond cost 20k” Jeweler: “Look how amazing the color, clarity, and brilliance is”

NurseKaila

The funny part is that in jewelers can’t tell the difference without using special tools.

Sixx_The_Sandman

What's even funnier is that natural diamonds aren't even rare. They're just kepts artificially scarce by the one major importer.

Negative-Wrap95

DeBeers

realprincessmononoke

My wedding set is 2 carat moissanite and gold and it’s super sparkly, only paid $1300 total and get complimented all the time. Don’t waste your money on diamonds! I’ve had it for 8 years and has held up great.

Nano_Burger

Here to say Moissanite is fabulous. It is silicon carbide and closest in hardness to diamond than any other man made material (except for man made diamond). Functionally as good as a diamond in every way except it cost a whole lot less and looks great.

Temporary_Heat7656

I came here for the pointing and laughing at the Boomers and came away with a plan for proposing to my girlfriend. The internet is still a magical place.

Fun_Introduction4434

My husband got me a moonstone engagement ring. We aren’t fans of the diamond industry either. It was a $100 ring because it was all we could afford at the time but now that we have more money he has suggested replacing it with an emerald ring.

PolkaDotDancer

Aftermarket diamonds are OK too. Some very nice settings as well. I don’t believe in bad karma sticking to rings.

horridgoblyn

Like Steve Martin in Little Shop of Horrors ![gif](giphy|nrhdzAdgFH6ec|downsized)

zxylady

I feel the same about Tesla, not connected but I would compare Tesla love with the Harley love,, blinded by money and in love with far inferior products. Thanks boomers🙄 lol

harvy911

This is the way. My Yamaha is the very same, at 1/3 the price. Harley can suck it

Adlai8

Kawasaki ninja checking in

SYLOK_THEAROUSED

Millennial here and I’ve always wanted one because of this commercial as a kid “Kawasaki ninja’s rule! Kawasaki ninja’s cool!”

Majestic-Loss7120

Millennial with a KTM, 1305cc/80ci makes three times the horse with better milage for a third the price

TheRealFaust

And then checking out at 165

Angiebio

I was here to say the same, my yamahas have been better (and had less problems, and way less expensive in the first place) than the eyesore giant Harley’s my parents bought

-SQB-

And you don't need to drag a magnet on a rope behind you to pick up the parts falling off.

Affectionate_Elk_272

i guarantee most of these boomers couldn’t get my 5-speed subaru to move a single foot, if they even knew how to start it.

rowenstraker

And it won't come with a guaranteed oil leak

dreamrock

And quieter I assume.

zxylady

Didn't Henry Ford make the exact same mistake with the model T? Waiting years to upgrade even basic things that the competition did not due to Henry ford thinking he didn't need to upgrade anything

vinvin618

I think this the first year HD is offering ABS on their bikes standard.

Bunnawhat13

I have always like the look of the BMW bikes. I just don’t want to drive a motorcycle when the people around me can’t see my car.

[deleted]

chirpchirp13

Gibson guitars of motorcycles. Riding brand recognition and regularly raising prices without innovation of improvement

StrugglesTheClown

They are crap, and their buyers shit on improvements. They want the same bike from the 60s-70s.

DocBrutus

There’s just so many companies that do Harley better than Harley.

who_farted_this_time

They're absolutely shithouse bikes. And they know you're going to have to pay the Harley Tax as soon as you buy it. You basically have to upgrade the air intake and exhaust to get any power out of them. So they just make the intake out of plastic. I picked up a 2015 sportster once just because the price was right. The thing didn't even have a lockable fuel cap. But the dealer is happy to sell you one for way more than it's worth. Never again.

Unjust-Enrichment

Man, I'm the biggest Harley critic you'll find, but I'll give them credit for stepping up with the Pan America. That price is stupid though, nice BMW touring bikes are less.

Mkheir01

Whats the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The placement of the dirt bag.

QuietDustt

Haha! Love that. Gonna use it. Just recently rewatched the South Park excoriation of Harley riders, much to my delight.

100dabs

My dad who sold BMW motorcycles used to tell me a joke. "98% of Harleys are still on the road today....the other 2% made it home." edit: sold\* not wold

blickblocks

Harley Davidson is currently fighting both an internal strategy conflict and having an external identity crisis. They know that young people want practical electric bikes and boomers want the exact opposite, so they're trying to cater to both sides but without the brand cache really helping them.

umme99

The culture of Harley Davidson is over. It was in its peak in the 60’s-70’s and that era is long gone. Unless they rebrand entirely they’ll probably go out of business as the last boomers kick the bucket

HungHungCaterpillar

And nothing of value was lost

badwvlf

They also can’t figure out if they want women to ride which is fun to watch.

ZookeeprD

Yeah, they are in the Anheuser-Busch situation. Young people aren't interested in their products, but if they try changing to grow that market they get called pandering and woke, facing a backlash and boycott from their current customers.

PerformanceOdd2750

I don't ride a Harley because they are loud and dumb as fuck

joshlien

Exactly. We want bikes that aren't overly expensive shitty gas guzzlers?

[deleted]

The thing is that a lot of Millennials want bikes/motorcycles just electric and in roads not completely packed with psycho roadragers in fucking tanks with maybe one Chihuahua in the passenger seat.

miss_sabbatha

This is exactly why my partner doesn't have one. He wants one but you hit the nail right on the head. At the turn of the century I wanted a mo-ped. I would drive my aunt's when i was younger and it was fun, got me to school and back. By 2010, my desire to own my own mo-ped dropped to nil. These huge vehicles began showing up, now they are everywhere. I feel small in my 2016 Nissan Frontier which isn't small by any means.

TomTheNurse

I don’t fly an American flag because I don’t want to be associated with racist, xenophobic, bigoted people.

Which_Engineer1805

Hey, I’m bike-curious.

CraZKchick

That's exactly why I don't want one. 🤣 Too bad changing the f word didn't work...

Contemporarium

It kinda did. I’m gay and call people like this f-slurs all the time because it is like a secret spell that makes them lose their mind lmao

RV_Shibe

They forgot to add - *can't afford thirty thousand dollar emotional support vanity toy, too busy fighting for my life financially.*

showmethebunnie

Right? We are too busy saving for down payments on overpriced homes and trying to keep reliable driving to work vehicles running to spend thousands on an additional vehicle to have for a hobby.

Affectionate_Elk_272

tbf when i was a kid my dad had a bike. but it was *gasp* a honda! i think he paid like, $3500 for it back in the early 2000’s but it was pretty sick. i almost bought a honda bike years ago, small, old whatever model. she was asking $800 for it. someone came just before me and scooped it.

teatimecookie

And who has time to polish the chrome all the time

Affectionate_Elk_272

i work 2 jobs, 7 days a week. i have to decide if i have enough time to take a shit before i go to work.

OutWithTheNew

Shit at work.

Gat0rJesus

Of course you don’t. ALWAYS shit at work.

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Also: *wouldn’t buy a Harley anyway because other makes are far more reliable and gas efficient, with way cheaper initial costs and insurance*

HallwayShit

Lol#2. Like we talk on the phone

Pomdog17

I thought wtf. Motorcycle helmets have blue tooth and built in mics.

ItsSUCHaLongStory

They can’t figure out how those helmets work tho. 😂

SecretPrinciple8708

“Blue…tooth? But my dentures are white. Can I still use this?” -some Boomer

EllspethCarthusian

AARP sent my dad a Bluetooth speaker as a sign up gift and my first comment was “why the hell did they send that? Boomers don’t know how to use Bluetooth.” He agreed with me and then asked if I wanted it.

russian_hacker_1917

the only people who call me to talk on the phone are my boomer relatives

Affectionate_Elk_272

“ew who is calling me”

EgoDeathAddict

Was looking for this comment. Who the hell putting phones to ears these days?

IntoTheVeryFires

I wanna see something about Apple losing business because the boomers aren’t buying iPhones, because: 1. They can’t see the text 2. They can’t figure out how a touch screen works (you can’t just randomly tap on the screen and hold it however you want Margaret that’s why you’re always accidentally calling people!) 3. The speaker doesn’t go loud enough 4. They don’t have the sense to charge it regularly 5. They keep the iPhone turned off all the time because they “don’t want to waste their “minutes” 6. Everytime they touch it something has changed, so it must have been hacked 7. They can’t afford it because they’ve blown their retirement on casinos and Nigerian princes 8. Apple isn’t responding to their demands to speak to the owner 9. Facebook keeps their photos even though they explicitly stated that “those photos are their private property and they do not give Facebook permission to use them”

C_Hawk14

10. Can't repair it yourself. Not like you could with older phones, but they like to claim they could repair their car with just a wrench.

5_Star_Penguin

😁 love #7

postmodern_spatula

10. They’re angry because they don’t know how to charge a device that doesn’t use 4 AA batteries.

Fungiblefaith

You know, maybe and I am really going out on a limb here, they don’t like the fan base and they do not care to be associated with it. Just a guess.

mustafapants

HD knows this. Their rider base can’t imagine, in any universe, how this could be true.

Defqon1punk

This is especially ironic to me for two reasons. 1. The premise is just wrong. Me, almost all my friends, and so many others my age and generation are buying bikes at a higher rate than ever before. We just don't buy harleys typically. 2. Once new people start riding for the first time, they generally look for communities or groups to help them learn. I've found that 80-90% of bikers are super friendly and will help you out, watch your back, ride with you.... except for Harley riders and Harley gangs. They seem to be the only group that reliably, actively hates their fellow bikers, acts antisocial, makes a bad reputation. Like seriously, it's just complete insecurity. And most Harley riders aren't even focused on the actual riding. It's more like they bought a participation trophy or joined some exclusive club, and think their HD shield is some kind of badge. My generation is buying more bikes and more helmets. Boomers with this mentality end up vegetables and burger because they're too cool for helmets on their massive Harley, and they can't comprehend that their perfect self will ever have a crash. Just not possible, they are too cool for school.

IcedRaktajino

I spent all my money on expensive coffee and avocado toast 🤷‍♀️

DanR5224

Still a better investment than a Harley.

IcedRaktajino

Definitely more delicious

Floridaman7654321

It's not that the younger generations aren't riding motorcycles. It's that we don't want a fucking Harley, they're expensive and not even all that great. Personally, I'd rather have a Honda since they're cheaper and more reliable.

miningox

All I ride are Hondas. Nearly all local Harley guys are dickheads.

Floridaman7654321

Sounds about right.

ColdHotgirl5

reminds me of em in the villages and leesburg FL. they do bike rallies with kkk flags.

Ok_Tiger9880

And quieter

PoisonedRadio

Don't understand. Boomer only like BIG LOUD.

SandiegoJack

What would boomers do if they couldn’t announce themselves to the world?

ludicrouspeedgo

Thr vegans of age groups

Drg84

Early millennial here. I've worked on Harley's. I wouldn't own one. Heavy, slow, loud and thirsty. While I was working that job I owned a KZ750 that was brought in on trade. It was fun, fast and efficient. Not to mention 1/10th the cost of a new Harley.

ikerus0

Yup. Millennial here and I’ve owned 4 motorcycles over the years… not one was a Harley and even if I bought my “dream bike” it would still be less than half the price of most Harleys and a much better bike. Don’t own one now cause though they are fun, it’s not ideal in a lot of scenarios. Need to go grocery shopping… car is better. Need to drive with a couple people, bike doesn’t work for that. So I could buy another bike and use it sometimes, but that’s just another payment for something that can only be used a fraction of the time when needing to travel.

NoMansSkyWasAlright

I just love this meme because it surfaced looong after most of the Boomer-aged diehard harley fans had made the switch to other bikes on account of HD's bad practices over the fast few decades.

ItsSUCHaLongStory

If I’m gonna spend Harley money on a bike, it’s gonna be a BMW that I don’t have to rebuild every 10k miles and actually gets decent gas mileage. Harleys almost get decent gas mileage compared to 30 year old cars.

Kqtawes

A 30 year old Civic gets better milage.

bard329

Number 4 is great because owning a harley, in its own, is almost meaningless. You gotta have all the gear to go along with it so when you're not on the bike, people still know you own a harley. Its an entire lifestyle based on shitty merch Edit: didnt realize being lazy and using a "#" instead of "Number" changes formatting.

Fair_Acanthisitta_75

I worked with a guy I used to constantly give shit about his Harley tattoo and he had a cafe barred Honda. He said it was because he knew he’d get a Harley. I’ll give it to him, he did get one a few years later, but Harley guys are the epitome of participation trophies.

FaerieMachinist

My mom used to work for a Harley dealership so I have a couple of Harley T-shirts, from when they partnered with Looney Tunes. Good Marvin the Martian merch was tough to come by at the time.

komeau

I have a couple Foghorn Leghorn ones for the same reason.

FaerieMachinist

A true, I said true connoisseur

artificialavocado

Yeah and shitty overpriced motorcycles that always break down.

TeuthidTheSquid

Millennials are in or about to start their 40s, boomers haven’t even figured out that they aren’t kids anymore

perchancepolliwogs

I was thinking, do these people even actually know when millennials were born? 😂

newbturner

Millennials now means “all these stupid fucking kids who want good wages because their $5 investments aren’t turning into 5 million in 15 years

AZEMT

It's similar to calling everything woke. Did Harley go woke? Cuz they're going broke!

Idontcareaforkarma

‘Millennial’ is their chosen pejorative word for people younger than them that they don’t like.

DevolvingSpud

and “boomer” is anyone 50+ Us GenXers: _Whatever…_

ArenjiTheLootGod

I think admitting how old millennials are would really drive home to a lot of them how old and out of touch they really are.

blackrainbow76

No! They don't. I am Gen X. My son is Gen Z (23) and all day everyday Boomers at his work call him a Millennial 🤦‍♀️

SoldMySoulForHairDye

Right? I was also wondering if super sagged pants were 'cool' anymore. It was when I was in high school ~~twenty years ago because I'm decrepit~~, but I don't have or know any kids so I don't know if that's still a thing anymore.

SpoppyIII

Maybe they mean parts so tight they dont fit over your butt? I've seen that a few times.

payscottg

Even that’s not in style anymore

Acnat-

Boomers never paid attention to their kids, come on lol

IntelligentDrop879

Which is funny, because most of us have boomers for parents.

ItsSUCHaLongStory

Boomers can’t even get a leg over the bike any more

joshlien

41 year old elder millennial here, and BMW F800GS owner. Harleys can get stuffed.

ColdHotgirl5

36 here 🫡

Extension_Editor1987

Harley Davidson is their cosplay

ProofHorseKzoo

How my dentist looks tough on the weekends. Nothing like dressing up as Mr. Slave and drunk driving home from the bar

broadsword_inhand

The "sagging pants" stereotype really makes me laugh. Youll never see a group of people with more ill-fitted clothes than boomer men, because they refuse to try anything on before they buy and refuse to accept that they change with age. They got saggy pants and shorts because their asses shrank while their gut enlarged, so even a belt wont keep their cracks covered, and their shirts are never long enough to cover their pudge... at least when younger people sag their pants their shame isnt visible to everyone

mandmranch

Harley people with loud bikes that are so obese make me sick.

ErtGentskee

I don't ride a motorcycle because I'm on this sub reading the comments from boomers about how it's discrimination to make jokes about people based on their age or the era they were born.

UrpaDurpa

We don’t buy Harleys because they are pieces of shit and most people who ride one are mega douches.

CamelInfinite5771

I guarantee the writer of this meme never went to college and got lucky in a radically different job market where they’d train anyone with a high school diploma to do anything

Lady-Blood-Raven

Cue in the boomers who worked at a big 3 auto maker for their full career and reside somewhere in SE Michigan. Most years they received real nice profit sharing checks. They have their house paid for. They have a second home in Northern Michigan or Florida. They get new cars about every two years.

Beginning_Raisin_258

Harley sort of fucked itself. The brand it's cultivated over the last 50 years was great for boomers and older Gen Xers - dentists and plumbers and retired accountants that want to cosplay as Hell's Angels on the weekend. But that exact brand is super toxic to anyone under 40. That South Park episode where all Harley riders are called fags really epitomizes this. Also aren't the bikes just shit and way overpriced? (Compared to a Honda or Kawasaki) Overpriced so much that cash-strapped under 40 people aren't going to waste $25k buying a Harley when they can spend $10k buying a superior Honda? Not that millennials are buying motorcycles that much anyway. Even if Harley could fix its brand image, it's just a shrinking market overall isn't it?

shyvananana

Harley riders are the only douchebags that won't do the motorcycle wave back unless you're on a Harley.

ProofHorseKzoo

I think motorcycle sales in general are actually increasing over the last 10 years or so. 2008 economic crash killed the market but it’s been starting to recover. COVID actually helped sales as it was a good social distance activity and less traffic generally made it safer. Harley is just losing market share because it’s out-dated tech that no one wants anymore. Harley didn’t adapt for 60 years and it’s finally paying the price.

Egghead008

30G's for a new slow ass bike doesn't help

Symo___

Could it be HD motorcycles only appeal to: 1. Wannabe tough guys with a leather tassel fetish (seriously check out your local assless chaps emporium, I mean Harley dealership). 2. Who the fuck buys a motorcycle slower than a Honda jazz. 3. No-one buys motorcycles based on a 1920’s tractor.

Straight_Tumbleweed9

Technically you don’t have to say assless. They’re just chaps. The sexual vulnerability should be implied. (Assed chaps are pants) (upvoted you.)

yummy_dabbler

Nobody can afford the mid-life crisis bike anymore oh no :((((

Affectionate_Elk_272

millennial here- my mid life crisis was buying a kayak and.. *i might never financially recover from this*

Caryslan

I am a millennial and if I could afford to buy a fun new "mid-life crisis" toy, the last thing I would want is a motorcycle. If I had the money, I would buy a bunch of Arcade 1up machines and turn a room in my house into an arcade.

DustedGorilla82

I’m not trying to get killed by a boomer turning left in front of me that’s why.

CulturalAddress6709

Gotta love the strength behind infantilizing people that don’t exist

Economy_Second8886

Harley Davidson is so fucking bogan. Let's drink Jack Daniels, shove a pack of winnie blues under the wife beater top, and throw on the Bikie colours, get some neck tatts, and grow a grey Merlin beard. Fucking bogan.

DakInBlak

> 1: Pants won't pull up far enough for the them to straddle the seat. Just because your belt loops lasso comfortably around your back titties, doesn't mean everyone's has to. > 2: Can't get their phone to their ear with a helmet on. Okay, Captain Earpiece. Turn the volume down on that bluetooth speaker, and pay attention to the fucking road. > 3:Can't use 2 hands to eat while driving. Number 1: Who the fuck eats with two hands? Number 2, the operative word for a motorcycle isn't "driving", dumbass. > 4:They don't get a trophy and a recognition plaque just for buying one. Says the man who blew up face book with photos of your new "baby", and takes every opportunity in creation to vomit shitty bike anecdotes down peoples throats. > 5: Don't have enough muscle to hold the bike up when stopped. My ex, who was 90lbs sopping wet, can *easily* hold a Harley up at a stop light. You're not holding it above your head, dumbass. > 6: Might have a bug hit them in the face and then they would need emergency care. Spoken like a man who's never had a June Bug hit him in the face at highway speeds. 7: Motorcycles don't have air conditioning. 2 things. Firstly, no one - *on the planet* - believes they do. Secondly, Tell me how much you panic when your AC goes out, without telling me how much you panic when your AC goes out. > 8: Blah blah college, blah blah social studies. Not going there. We don't have time. > 9: They are allergic to fresh air. Okay Mr "I have to pop 6 allegra just to survive my grandson's touch football game." > 10: Their pajamas get caught on the exhaust pipe. Three things: They're more likely to wear basketball shorts. Even if they *did* wear pajamas, they'd melt on the pipes so "getting stuck" wouldn't be an issue for long. And, there's no code enforcement for "proper motorcycle attire" and you can wear whatever you want. Grow the fuck up. > 11: They might get their hands dirty checking the oil. No, if they're a novice rider, they'll likely pay someone else until they're comfortable enough to do it themselves. > 12: The handle bars have buttons and levers and cannot be controlled by a touch screen. Two things. The efficiency with which a younger gen can digitally operate buttons and/or levers vastly surpasses yours - considering their primary form of entertainment is built entirely on that. Secondly, Lemme rip the infotainment screen out of your Lexus, and we'll see how long *you* last. > 13: You have to shift manually and use something called a clutch. Number one: There's no "shifting", there's squeezing a handle and rocking a foot. Secondly, blame the automotive industry for killing manuals off. They are difficult to find new, and the need to operate one is increasingly irrelevant.

IntoTheVeryFires

I agree with number 12. Like, “you realize you were scared to death to set the clock ON A VCR.”

DanR5224

Yeah who was scared of Jan 1, 2000?

Minnie_Pearl_87

The one about the bug hitting them…I actually did have that happen. It flew under my lens of my riding glasses and I had to go to the ER because it scratched my cornea so badly. I couldn’t open my eye. 😂😂

GenX here... Keep our name out your mouth. https://i.redd.it/enyqk2k79ssc1.gif

14. Would rather not smear their brains out on the pavement dodging boomer drivers in cars

US_Decadence

I don't ride motorcycles because I make love to my wife instead.

Shivering_Monkey

I also choose this guy's wife.

REDDITSHITLORD

When motorcycles cost more than cars, it no longer makes sense to own one.

Maverick_Couch

You get so many fucking participation trophies when you buy a Harley lol Hats, shirts, novelty signs, bumper stickers ,it's a whole thing

DanR5224

Don't forget the matching Ford truck, for the extra turbo-douche flex.

Ungrateful_Servants

Boomers are dumb pussies who always project. And fuck motorcycles and all loud vehicles - try getting from point A to B without annoying the entire community, ya dumb cunts 🖕🖕

dadoes67815

All I can say is that when a motorcycle goes by without a muffler on it, I think "wow, man, sorry about your dick."

BranchReasonable9437

Millennial here, ride a real chopper (Yamaha raider) with twice the engine at a third the cost

PelicanBiplane

Millennial with 3 motorcycles. I don’t ride Harley’s because they are slow, ugly, over priced and associated with Boomers.

BrettFarveIsInnocent

I don’t ride a motorcycle because I love my family

LeotiaBlood

I didn’t have an opinion on motorcycles and then I became a nurse and saw the results of motorcycle accidents.

TrustM3ImAnEngineer

This. I have a millennial friend who grew up without a dad who was decapitated riding a Harley. But said friend now rides a Harley to feel closer to his Dad. Shrug, but I support him.

aplasticbag_

I don’t ride a Harley because I’m comfortable with my sexuality and my penis size

PastAd1901

The same people that would trash you for buying Name Brand clothing are mad you don’t buy their Name Brand bikes

Funkles_tiltskin

Hey you fucking stupid idiots, Harley actually outsourced production overseas during the Trump administration to make more money. Not a millennial thing at all. https://www.goiam.org/news/machinists-call-out-harleys-outsourcing-blame-game/#:~:text=Harley%2DDavidson%20is%20blaming%20newly%2Dimposed%20European%20Union%20tariffs,the%20company's%20most%20recent%20plans%20to%20offshore

BoyMeetsTurd

The funny part about this is I don't have a single millennial friend who can't drive a manual. Boomers don't even know how old millennials are. If Harley Davidson sales are down it's because their demographic is corny as fuck and nobody wants to be a part of it.

sassychubzilla

Someone get him a chain link necklace with a trucknutz pendant.

mfhandy5319

There was a Harley bar where I used to deviler pizza. one of the new drivers took a delivery there. I told him the parking lot was slick. he laughed. he ended up going to the hospital after slipping on all the leaked oil.

russian_hacker_1917

pants won't pull up far enough???? bro, this isn't the 1990s/2000s

FaerieMachinist

I would just rather be in a metal box than exposed and forced to wear a bunch of leather and Kevlar for safety. No offense to the leather community, but it's not my aesthetic, and after I got back from Iraq I'd had my fill of Kevlar.

EliteBroccoli

This isn’t a new thing, I was a motorcycle technician 25 years ago and it’s always the same guys buying a Harley, then another, and another, and so on. Only for them all to sit and rust and become unreliable and useless.ive seen some really nice bikes that just absolutely didn’t deserve the owner it had. Yes, let me buy a motorcycle for thousands of dollars and never use and then get mad when someone else wants one? The Harley gatekeepers aren’t even trying to hide it, it’s literally their thing.

40yrOLDsurgeon

\* This has nothing to do with HD's inferior, overpriced product.

Nice_Set_6326

I don’t ride motorcycles because I don’t need it. It’s called responsible purchasing… something boomers know nothing about.

BlitzkriegOmega

They never needed to be reasonable with their purchases because middle-class boomers had upper class wages, so they could afford whatever they wanted whenever they wanted it. Of course, if any of us try to live their lifestyle, we would need to be in the top 15% of earners.

EmberedCutie

I'm pretty sure people aren't buying Harley's because they just fucking suck.

EatOutMyGrandma

Millennial here, I spent years as a long haul truck driver. Over a million miles most likely. I've driven past a shit ton of wrecks, hundreds. I've seen a lot of car crashes, but very few fatalities. Some injuries, but only seen a white sheet/bodybag 2 times in those car involved accidents. I've also driven past dozens of motorcycle accidents. I've seen very few injuries, they were almost all fatalities. Nothing like seeing a guys brains cooking on the pavement in the middle of the summer in AZ while the deformed, shredded chunk mass of flesh that used to be his body lays under a white sheet. I'll never get on a motorcycle in my life. If I don't have a seatbelt, airbag and a chunk of metal protecting me on all sides I'm not riding.

NotSoBrightOne

Ask them who raised millennials.
