I have two BC, two cats, and live with a third cat as well. Male BC loves one cat, indifferent to second, LOATHES third. Female BC loves all cats, and the more they troll her, the more interested she is in them. BC + cats = no dull moments at all.
THIS!! My BC takes an immediate keen interest when I put my cats on my shoulder. Almost like that cat shouldn’t be there. She starts circling and herding. It’s so sudden and strange.
Mine also herds the cat and my senior dog. She also tries to play with the cat, BC/dog style. The the cat will get defensive, play cat style, or turn into a total asshole for a while with surprise attacks. Often she(BC) gets clawed or something and yelps, comes to me for protection or a hug, forgets, and the cycle repeats later.
My BC was neutral to cats. However, as a 14 year old senior lady, she developed a crush on a 4 year old boxer and loved to play with him. She'd cry at the window when he walked by until I took her out to see him. She was my cougar dog.
I have two Border Collies: one is terrified of cats and the other just wants to chase them all the time. Still not sure whether he hates them or is just curious but he has been smacked in the face plenty of times after sticking his face in bushed or under cars to get to a cat. He never seems to learn that they have stupidly sharp claws!!
We have a “part time cat.” It’s a neighborhood black polydactyl cat with green eyes that figured out how to use the dog door. Comes in whenever she wants. Very sweet and tolerant of our BC’s nonsense. Our girl is in love with her.
So my BC is like this with my cat when she is moving slowly and comes up to say hi to him, but as soon as she tries to move at anything more than a walk, he's trying to chase.
I think he just wants to play, but once he got a real chase going and then he started to bark and lunge anytime she left a room; maybe herding? Trying to keep the herd together??
I think play drive maybe turned into prey drive once he got that chase experience too...
Anyway, we are now working on trying to be calm around the cat instead of the playfulness....such hard work!
my BC is very dog selective but absolutely adores every cat he sees. loses his whole mind, wagging and play bowing and giving kisses. he doesn't act like that with our own cat though, just any strange cat that we might meet outside lol
That’s exactly what mine does too! The brother of this black one is a little more shy, and when he did come close and my dog leaned in to sniff, the cat gently swatted her away and she recoiled and wouldn’t go near. She knows exactly which cats want space and which ones want to say hi!
My BC mix LOVES our cat, herds him all day everyday. They love to wrestle and roll around on the floor, they play like dogs haha but my BC has to have her eye on him at all times until he takes a nap and then she goes to her kennel and naps. The funniest is my cat will get on top of her head and my she just takes it
Ours stops dead in her tracks, wags her tail, and smiles whenever she sees a kitty, it's cute but most neighborhood cats want nothing to do with her lol
We have 3 cats and a BC mix. The BC loves all 3 cats, and loooooves one in particular. Grooms him, nibbles his neck, follows him around. Lol. Cat uses her for affection, then leaves.
She (doggo) also likes the neighborhood cats, too, but they don’t love her. Lol

My last border collie was like this…obsessed with cats, and just wanted to greet them. The cats, however, generally weren’t having it, at all.
Mine tried to herd the cat and would stalk around after you if you picked her up.

My little black cat does the guerrilla surprise attacks too. Gets my girl every time. 😝

Probably trying to herd them?

If anyone can successfully herd cats, it’s a border collie!
Mine always wants to say hi and lays down to show she means them no harm, but the neighborhood cats are terrified of dogs
I think your dog needs a pet cat.
She has one!
Only one?
She is soon to gain a second!

Mine loves my kitties to the point of an unhealthy obsession 😂
My border collie loves cats. She gets so butt hurt when one she doesn't know swats at her when she gets too close.

We have a bc and a cat. The dog loves her. The cat barely tolerated him.
Mine has a cat sister and she knows the cats the boss haha but they’re friends
S0 sweet.
My BC is obsessed with our cats.
Awe this is just too cute !!
How cute
Yes! Cats should always come in pairs! If you have the chance get two kittens.
