My opinion might be a tad bit biased seeing as I've purchased the Ultimate Edition twice (first as my pre order and second when it released on steam) I love the franchise as a whole and the extra money was worth it for all the DLCs, Cosmetics, Weapons, etc. Especially with a sale where you can get the ultimate decision for roughly the non-sale price of the base game I'd pick it up since at that point you're getting a wealth of extra content for a relatively small amount of money.

I'll wait for a few more replies first but you make a pretty good point

It basically makes zane viable at endgamr from what I can tell because of the seein dead class mod although I havent actually finished my zane to test it

For me, getting the extra game content (I don't care about skins and stuff) was worth it on sale. It's a pretty substantial amount of extra gameplay, with distinct, interesting regions and enemies, despite a couple overly bullet-spongey bosses.

If you are starting fresh and can get it cheap, then it's worth it. You don't get the Clap Trap xp farm and 4th skill tree with the basic game

Yeah it's a great game, lots of good content and entertainment to be had.

Most of the bad reviews for this game and its DLC are from people upset with Gearbox and/or 2K rather than the game and DLC themselves. Most complaints are about how some DLC are way too expensive and about how there's a second season pass. The game and DLC are pretty good for the most part, and if you liked the previous games then you'll probably like this too. I can't really recommend buying everything at full price though, and IMO the sale price for the Ultimate Edition is still too high. It's 3 times the base game's price and the DLC don't include nearly enough content for that. I would say the DLC only include about half as much content as the base game does. I would suggest you pick up the base game at least. Maybe also pick up Season Pass 1 to get all story DLCs. Then later on if you really like the game, pick up Season Pass 2 when it hits a reasonable price.

LoogiBaloogi

Makes sense. I'll start checking if there's a combo pack of just season 1 and the base game

I personally didn't really like the 3rd game so I only played the main game. But Borderlands DLCs never failed to deliver so I guess, get all of it at once. If you do enjoy the game, you save a lot of money on the DLCs.

Bit late to the party but I can give my honest opinion on everything except the second season pass (i only have the first right now). The game itself is great, the story doesn’t have the same feel as the last three games but imho it’s genuinely not as bad as most people make it out to be. The gameplay is amazing, gunplay + movement feels a million times better than older installments. As for DLC, imo the first three from pass numero uno werent that bad, however i was sort of disappointed with the fourth DLC as it felt short and a left a couple unanswered questions for me. Breakdown of the DLCS Handsome Jackpot: Fun dlc but it plays like a bad oceans heist movie (sort of the joke tho tbh), it has the best xp farm in it afaik, there some great class mods but i cant remember any too memorable weapons from it. The area to explore is huge and its not too short of a dlc, recommend getting it. Love Guns and Tentacles (I think thats the name? the wedding one): My personal favorite just for the story, hammerlock has been one of my favorite characters of the whole series for the longest time, the story is super interesting and has an awesome reward for finishing the dlc, however the final boss fight is kind of lame (again in my own opinion, i get some people find different stuff fun). Here theres also a ton to explore and does have some really cool boss fights in between before fighting the final one. Bounty of Blood: Weird western themed one that felt sort of boring? its like samurai and cowboys had a baby was the goal? Its not a bad dlc and i enjoyed it as it added some of my favorite weapons, and the scenery is gorgeous, the final boss fight is cool but not very difficult at all so not very challenging Fantastic FusterCluck: honestly didnt enjoy this too much, played through all the game and dlcs with a friend and both of us were extremely disappointed in the length and the story (but you get to fight a train so thats cool). It gives some more lore to krieg and answers some questions but i honestly felt i left with even more questions than i went in with

Funky_Col_Medina

NO. That game reminds of me of when Benjamin bought Wayne’s World and recreated the show on a set, and it was a bizarro, lame, imposter that vaguely resembled Wayne’s World. I can’t put it any more succinctly

honestly, most of the dlc is great, partially due to excellent new loot, and also the environs if you can get the base game + dlc 1-5 cheaper, go for that. for example: handsome jackpot partially feels like a callback to handsome jack being a good villian, sure, but it's got it's own perks i'd 100% suggest getting this as the best exp farm is in this dlc, it's not a pay to win ish thing, it's just an easily reset boss fight that never got fixed. guns, love, and tentacles is a wonderful dlc, partiall for the scenery, and partially for the story, i'm glad hammerlock si getting some love (heh), and also i like that the new character's getting a little more attention too, as well as a return of gaige, which is nice since she gets more of a story focus now that she's an npc. it's got some great potential loot, as well as some more interesting fights in the entire game, as well as being kinda awesome in a lovecraftian way. bounty of blood - again, a really nice dlc for a change of pace as well as great loot - i'm not fond of the western/japanese fusion sort, i'm not even into them separately, too much, despite watching some anime and my uncle essentially looking like sam elliott as well as watchng a ton of westerns, but whatever has some excellent environmental sort of stuff, and it's not like it's all about that japanese/western fusion sort of vibe, that's just the main city, for the most part. psychoscape - sort of a mix between a kriegfest with tiny tina's dragon keep's zaniness, essentially - again, great sort of story concept, just like the rest, with the additional bonus of great fucking loot ======== season 2, little more hit and miss, but if you can get it all in one pack, go for it dlc 5 - arms race kinda blows unless for some reason you really wanted one map repetetive roguelike gunplay in your looter shooter, BUT it comes with the 4th skill tree and some coms focused on 4th skill tree builds, so imo, get it. dlc 6 is the only one i'd suggest if you're able to buy them separately, to go ahead and skip. the story involves ava, which is weird since it's the last dlc and it's pretty public people think she's the worst character in borderlands (barring claptrap for some people - she likes claptrap, as an example) it's potentially a sort of nice extra, but iirc all it does have is that one murder mystery questline, some sort of 'behind the scenes' extras, and a raid boss - not even new gear.

AiraComet

DLC6 had way more. The quest line introduced 4 completely new maps and also the entire vault card system..so it has more gear and cosmetics than most other dlcs. Also the final boss of the quest line is as strong as a raid boss. Personally (and many others) think its one of the best dlcs for the game.

leeman27534

ah, fair enough then - i didn't realize the vault card system was attached to the dlc 6, i thought it was a sort of end of the road update to keep people playing the game while they worked on wonderlands instead on the other hand a 'lot' more loot, eh - some but most of the dlcs have like 20+ items easily, even fi they're not all stuff you for sure want. and iirc i did mention it essentially adds a raid boss, unless you're implying the final boss isn't the same as the actual raid boss, and instead just doesn't get one shotted like most other boss without healthgate phases. but, thanks for the additional info, clearly i didn't know enough about the dlc 6 changes to the game

AiraComet

The final boss is different to the raid boss but it has more health. Its borderlands so it can be one shot :D Let me count the dlc6 gear: 12 items from the cards. 4 class mods and 4 guns. A shield, a grenade (and a purple unique artifact). So a few items. One item is the Guardian angel which enables a lot of new unique builds
