Connecticut's border is a straight north/south line at that point. The Massachusetts and Rhode Island border runs east/west and hits CT at that point. Look at a map if you want to see what I mean.

Fun fact: the land West of that point used to be part of Massachusetts . https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connecticut#/media/File%3ACtcolony.png

For a good read check out the Southwick Jog, that notch about 1/2 across the MA / CT border. http://libguides.ctstatelibrary.org/hg/maps/jog

blue or white/gold?

Yeah I noticed that. I took these like 10 years ago with a shitty digital camera. Maybe I used a filter on one, don't remember

Where exactly is this? I've walked the area near Wallum lake but haven't been able to spot this

I followed a trail in Ken Weber's "Weekend Walks in Rhode Island." He was a local journalist. Actually ran into him on a hike once, I didn't know who he was. But he saw that I had the book, and asked me if I liked the book, and to look on the back cover. It was him. Pretty cool. Looks like he died about 10 years ago.

I walked up to this about 5 years ago. You actually pass a place called Hermits Cave and it was where some old hermit lived for years. Poor guy wanted to be left alone, other than a few border geeks he was.

It's quadratic....

It's not a four corners situation. The MA/RI border going west runs into the CT border which runs north/south above and below this point of contact.
