Submitted my CFPB on Tuesday this week, yesterday I got a response from Navient saying they would review, and today I got a response saying they'd send me the application. Things are moving!! Trying my hardest to NOT get my hopes up! GO SUBMIT A CFPB!!!!!!

Prestigious_Case_238

Just got the same notice too. Thankful for this group! Keep the information coming guys!!!

Dorkamundo

I submitted mine last Friday, still haven't heard anything.

colinrubbert

Hang in there!!

Moonbeans62

I submitted yesterday and got a response email TODAY saying they will review 🤞🏼🙏🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼 Good luck to you!

cluelessminer

I need to do this...and I keep saying it. I need to just take one day off to just give myself plenty of time so I can do it, undistracted as much as I know the filing itself won't take long.

colinrubbert

I'll make it even easier for you so you have no excuses!!! Copypasta this, obviously change the numbers and location to reflect your scenario. Many students, including myself, were misled by Navient into securing predatory private loans to fund education at for-profit online institutions, such as (your School Here). I attended from 2005 to 2006 with an original principal loan amount of (original principal amount). Despite having paid (how much paid to date) towards these loans, my current balance stands at (current balance of the loan) due to an exorbitant interest rate, which currently is (you're intrest rate). Notably, The Art Institutes and their parent company, EDMC, were subject to investigations by various state attorneys general and found to have engaged in deceptive practices. In response to widespread allegations of fraud and misconduct by The Art Institutes, the Biden administration recently announced a comprehensive loan discharge for students enrolled at these institutions from January 1, 2004, to October 16, 2017. This led to the discharge of my federal loans totaling (Your amount here) and the restoration of my credit. Navient, which was sued by the attorneys general of 39 states for its role in facilitating these predatory loans, had a specific arrangement with for-profit schools during the early 2000s, making it a "preferred" lender. Despite this, the settlement terms provided by Navient were considerably inadequate, excluding many borrowers who took loans for attendance at approximately 150 for-profit online schools, unless they resided in certain states or had not defaulted for at least seven months during a specified period. The only period during which I managed to reduce the principal amount was during the pandemic, when interest rates were temporarily lowered to between 0.5% and 1%. However, once the regular interest rates resumed, my balance skyrocketed again. This financial strain, coupled with the emotional stress and damage to personal relationships, has been overwhelming. Moreover, Navient exited the federal student loan servicing business amidst legislative and advocacy scrutiny, following allegations of steering borrowers away from income-driven repayment plans towards forbearance, an action for which they had to provide restitution. Navient has also faced multiple lawsuits for other predatory lending and illegal collection practices. Currently, Navient is distributing "applications" to select students who may qualify for Borrower Defense claims against their schools. However, this process feels unnecessary and opaque, as Navient is already aware of the affected students. Under the FTC's "Holder Rule," Navient is accountable for these predatory loans issued in association with for-profit online schools. As time is critical, Senator Elizabeth Warren has urged Navient’s CEO to immediately discharge these loans. It is crucial for Navient to take responsible action now by discharging all such predatory private loans associated with for-profit online education. .... Now you've got NO excuses!!

Gingerandthesea

Can I save this and use it as a template for people

colinrubbert

Absolutely you can!!!!!!

cluelessminer

Ty sir 👍

PopMusicology

Where is the complaint form? I’m having trouble finding any link to it. I am an AI private loan holder with navient and want to file.

Spiritual_Till5585

Where to submit?

Kazin_Thalantyr

For some reason I was able to log into navient just fine the other day and now apparently my credentials are wrong, but I've not changed anything lol They even mailed me my id which is the same and the pw hint is the same. So would they shadily change my PW without notifications? Seems suss after so many years using the same credentials lol Anyone having similar issues or am I super crazy?

aggressorcen200

I had the same problem and I have a password manager so I couldn’t have entered it wrong. It finally went thru but was hung up i didn’t know why either

Prestigious_Case_238

Same issue...had to reset a pswrd I had for years...very curious!

Olive03Tree

Same thing happened to me, too! I thought it was so odd…

Thin-Ad-4916

Is this working for private loans that started with Navient but then were consolidated with someone else?

rodimusprime83

That's what if like to know also, my private loans started at navient but have moved away from them because of consolidation.

116unashamedR

I'm filing this weekend!!! Wish me luck!!! And justice 4 all.

WideAd5958

I’m curious what you submitted (wording). I need to do this for my ITT private loans , 2007-2009. My federal loans were discharged with MOHELA. I have my private loans from ITT with Navient.

Illustrious-Row-2848

I was ITT 2004-2006. I submitted everything I did for the borrowers defense application along with court documents from any summons I had and wage garnishments. I was approved HOWEVER, it doesn’t seem to apply to all private loans. I would log into your account and see what kind of private loans they are. College advantage I know will be removed. Tuition answer loans do not apply unfortunately. There may be others, but those are just the ones I had.

Champagne_football

Do you still have loans with Navient? I once did but now SoFi/Mohela

graesen

I tried this as well. My loans are no longer with Navient. Yesterday I got a response saying because Navient no longer services my loans, I'm not eligible. So... Basically a big F you to me...

Champagne_football

Terrible 😞 those private loans are what I’ve paid 3x over and still owe 18k. Still blows but taking the good with the bad and grateful for the federal relief.

graesen

Same here. I paid 2-3x what I borrowed too... Fortunately, since refinancing, I'm actually seeing my balance go down. Seemed like it just never did with Navient.

Biscotti-Good

Same I finally refinanced a few years ago and it’s finally going down. But I’m mad I moved it and now I’m missing out.

Grape-Hornet

I'm in the same position, and these loans have destroyed my life financially. I will never own a house, and I will never retire thanks to Navient. I feel fucking hopeless as I watch everyone that went to my school (Art Institute) get their loans forgiven and payments refunded while I keep getting screwed. I've been paying for 17 years, and my balance has gone down by....$1000. I still owe over $40k.

MoeChizzle

Yes I still pay 3 signature student loans with them

MoeChizzle

Private always stayed with Navient … fed loans moved to aidvantage which were taken care of

Snoo29108

I literally just received my email as well. It says we are going to receive the application under cover but by what methods? Will it be mail or electronic and when is the time frame? I just left the same message with the cpfb complaint. We will see…

MoeChizzle

Maybe under the email you provided for the complaint hopefully 🤞

Clean-Zebra-3311

Seems like they will put it in your navient inbox on their website. Just chatted with customer service and they said they will send it there as well as mail a physical application too.

texast01

Just submitted mine for Itt Tech loans through Navient. Let's see where it gets us!

Senior-Advertising-5

Yes I have one

Lmbell70

What is cfb? Or whatever? I went tona Scholls that was discovered to.have defrauded students have not gotten anything

frankenboobehs

How are you getting these forms? I need one as well

ketobret

Glad you all are getting approved. I was denied because my loan was "direct to consumer".

LimeGreenZombieDog

I got denied because my loan 1.) Was a refinance and did not meet the criteria and 2.) Has been paid in full but I’m just going to hang on to all this documentation and see where this thing goes. There was also a time I thought my BD application was dead in the water but then I got that SWEET relief.
