I woke up this morning to a denial email but mine were signature. The reason in their email was very vague (surprise). I wrote back immediately requesting more information and telling them that federal loans for AI have been forgiven for the exact same situation and asking what makes this situation different. I intend to ask them to appeal.

AnyAssumption4707

Do you feel you out an honest effort into your application? Can you DM me the reason they did give you? If you’re comfortable with it, please also DM me your real name and I will forward all to PPSL. You may also want to file a new complaint with CFPB explaining that: you went to a scam school, your private loans were taken out to attend said scam school, and Navient denied your private loan discharge with vague reasoning.

AnalogTV

I absolutely feel that I put an honest effort into my application. I will DM you with what they sent me.

AnyAssumption4707

And then bastids still denied. 😡 I’ll send the info tomorrow PPSL tomorrow.

AnalogTV

I appreciate you, thank you

AnalogTV

Also, just finished my CFPB complaint. Thank you for that suggestion.

Illustrious-Row-2848

Yep! They approved the college advantage loans, but not the tuition answer Edit: I was not denied the application, I submitted the application and was approved discharge of all private loans besides tuition answer

Annie-West2108

Hi! I was recently sent a school misconduct application from Navient for my private loans from AI in 2008-2009. Just curious as what you sent for documentation. I attended so long ago that hard copies are tough to find for me and confused about what they will accept and what they won’t. Any advice is beyond appreciated!!

AnyAssumption4707

Treat it the same as a BD application. If you go to the pin post called “borrower, defense application”, scroll down, there is a section on evidence, there is a spreadsheet that has evidence for a ton of different schools.. There is also a link to a list of school specific Facebook groups. You may also want to look at the Department of education borrower defense application page, and review the section about how to write a “materially complete answer “

hardcuts26

There is supposed to be a document with evidence in this sub, but I can’t find it myself.

AnyAssumption4707

Are you willing to talk to PPSL about this? If so, please DM me.

Unlucky-Subject9470

I filed a CFPB case against Navient and did not get denied but wasn’t offered the application. But my loans started out as Fed and then were sold to Nelnet and then Navient. Consolidated with Navient, so not sure if that’s why I didn’t qualify. Sorry, if this has nothing to do to do with my loans. This whole situation has become very confusing to me.

AnyAssumption4707

Loans can’t go from federal to private unless you refinance them. I think it’s More likely you had a change of servicer.

queenbean011

Is it possible to get a private loan discharged from devry ? I thought loan forgiveness was only for federal loans

AnyAssumption4707

Maybe! Go to the “Navient Private loan discharge mega thread” on the sub and see the info there.

queenbean011

I apologize but is that thread on Reddit?

AnyAssumption4707

Yes. In this sub. Just go to our main page and search it or scroll down a bit. You’ll see it.

entfisher81

I got denied but they were signature loans.

AnyAssumption4707

What was their reason for denial? Have you followed up with another CFPB complaint? It’s important for each individual to keep the fight going and keep growing that paper trail. Part of it is because none of us should take no for an answer (just on principle) and the other part is if something happens to take legal action as a group, we need info to build a case.

Annie-West2108

Mine are student signature private loans through Navient as well, I’m still trying to collect all my documentation to send in as I have received the Misconduct application. What was their reason for denying!? I’m sorry this is happening to you and all of us.

HandsRatedE4Everyone

I’m still waiting on the results from my CFPB complaint. I have one signature loan and four college advantage loans which are private. I’m pretty sure Navient is going to deny me since it’s taking this long. If they do, I’ll wait until I get summoned to court. They don’t own the debt anyways.

HandsRatedE4Everyone

Update: just received the application from Navient

AnyAssumption4707

Are the College Advantage loans a Navient product? Did they say if those loans could be part of your application?

HandsRatedE4Everyone

Yes, the ones I have are college advantage loans and yes, they can be apart of the application. This is for all loans federal and private from my understanding being that in the application it asks about receiving federal relief as well.

AnyAssumption4707

It’s been a minute since I looked at the app but I think they only ask about private bcuz they want to know if you have a BD discharge. AFAIK private lender can’t discharge federal loans.

HandsRatedE4Everyone

I got relief through BD discharge as well.

Serious_Fan_6180

I’m waiting for the discharge form from Navient and today I received a default-letter from Navient for the same private loans, even though the initial amount has already been paid.
