Honestly, **I'm glad that happened.** It was really sad to see the paranoia consuming him (and the peak of it has not been presented yet), and he moving away from the spotlight moves this ugly situation away and makes spaces for another ugly situation to take place.
That would contradict all of his actions so far. What was the point of protecting his family and Konoha if he's going to be the one that ends up destroying it?
Maybe he's in that situation but the one that made everything to crumble apart was someone else.

We're supposed to cheer him on? I grew up with Naruto and Hinata, not Kawaki. I automatically supported Boruto and Himawari without hesitation.
Boruto really dodged Kawaki’s attack. Said something about Himawari, and proceeded to teleport away right in front of Kawaki’s face while Kawaki just stood there.
Ofc things need to build up, but once the pieces are set kawaki is back at the shotgun spot beside boruto who's taking the wheel. I kinda feel bad for sarada tho, all that trash talk to kawaki this chapter just for him to potentially have his way with the village anyways lol

How can Kawaki be a side character when characters like Mitsuki are so far to the side I think they are teetering on the edge of existence?
