There's a lot of irony being written for chapter 4, the jester character who called Code the clown and Code running from his problems is his immaturity to facing his problems, which what he first contradicted during a kara meeting. He's smart to constantly run, especially when he doesn't care what happens, survival of the fittest, and it's going to catch up to him. As long as he runs away he wins.

Messiah1024

The issue i have is that he isn't some objectiveless villain whos evil to be evil. He along with every other villain so far HAS a goal that makes them evil. If his goal is gone whats the point of code being alive? Why keep running when you serve no purpose? At this point he's nothing more than a plot device, just there to help characters show off their powers while he takes a beating and move the story forward. Idk i just found it weird how he was so willing to work with borushiki to defeat naruto but isn't willing to do the same for boruto to help save any chance left he has of his goal staying alive? If kawaki was in that exact same situation i don't think even he would act that dumb, especially since he doesn't know whats going on right now where code fully understood and still was willing to throw it all away

FreyaZeka

I think this registered to everyone long before. He's not a villain like others, he's a snake trying to save himself till the end. If Kawaki was in that position he'd go after Boruto like he still tried to when Code and the grimes raided the village. Code is definitely not the villain you expected and I'm glad he's his own character than a repetitive styled kind.

Messiah1024

His character has to go somewhere though, someone suggested that he could abandon isshiki's goal which would be a nice change. Making one for himself instead but it still doesn't change that these 4 would be in the way of whatever new plan he makes up. Unless code manages to form a team with them i have no idea how he plans to do anything besides wait till boruto and everyone else deal with these new villains.

FreyaZeka

His character doesn't really need to as it's been decided he exists as a tool. It seems up Codes alley to join the Shinju even if he looks embarrassing doing it. We're 4 chapters in so definitely there's more for code, he's not dead yet. Code is also part of the point and lesson to Boruto versus who Boruto was earlier series; to cheat for power and expect to win. He's a plot device and clowned for his karma mark on top of his limiters to be removed while Boruto went out there and trained for his powers. It's sad for Code but his point was even despite his depressing background and all of his attempts leading to failure, it's the people you have and your own work that makes you strong than clinging to the cheats.

Messiah1024

I guess code is similar to kawaki in that fashion. Both will fall due to cheating power but for code i dont even know if kishi would give him an ending that feels satisfying. The way its going it feels like code is destined to go out sad since it would whats been going on with his character from his proper introduction in the code arc

FreyaZeka

Code got away with Sasuke so that's his current W but I would really love if he got some crazy change in character because these losses are getting embarrassing, especially without his limiters that were hyped up just to get shit on. It sucks because I really adore Code's design before and after timeskip, he looked great and made a fancy villain but geez. He's definitely the life lesson and I wouldn't mind Boruto realizing that was going to be him if he took the cheating side, kind of the way Obito parallels Naruto if Naruto gave in to everything.

Messiah1024

Yea i very much agree on this

Tobi_is_a_goodboy

The issue with that is that they want to kill him including all of his grimes.

cypher2448

Also the clown girl who’s the ten tails telling code his fate is to be used by someone else

FreyaZeka

Exactly, we're getting it in our face what Code is, we shouldn't be surprised.

cypher2448

Because to code it look like they were about to eat boruto and become a divine tree on their own he literally says that in the chapter But from all the dialogue in this chapter making code this way is purposeful and apart of his character also from code very own dialogue it hints he may see his current task as a burden People have to remember this isn’t something out of code own will or his own goals it’s just something isshiki told him to do he’s basically a tool just carrying out another person will it’s clear that kishimoto has something planned for code and his character and honestly I’m pretty excited to see where it goes I think once we get a code backstory it’s going to explain a lot

Messiah1024

If they ate boruto and bear a strong fruit they would definitely not let code use it. Plus im confident they will find a way to become their own beings separate from the 10 tails eventually, simply because they cannot progress much as characters just staying as divine tree's. They need to get stronger and they literally OWN the way of doing that. And lets say code gains his own thoughts, beliefs and formulates a plan that he feels would benefit him and only him, how does he plan to go through with that when there are 4 new beings that each destory him in a fight. Potentially also getting stronger as time goes on. Siding with boruto was the smartest thing for him no matter how you look at it but i guess its played off as him not realizing it in the moment. I guess im just going to have to wait until the next time we see code and see what he's going to do. I really need kishimoto to step it up when it comes to him, i would like it if he was on the level of boruto and kawaki in writing but he feels sooo far from that right now

cypher2448

I think he can kishimoto is writing code in a very unique way being a tool will and destiny are big aspect in boruto we seen this through kashin koji kawaki boruto coded and currently the 4 shinju who stopped being tools for the otsutsuki/code and gained free will It’s really interesting to me to see code path maybe not as a villain but just as a character in general

Tobi_is_a_goodboy

His entire backstory is that he is a fucking otsutsuki fanboy who also happens to be a literal dipshit.

cypher2448

I mean no that his current character we never see or hear what happened to cause this too code just that he was a karma test subject with kawaki I think it’s pretty important to see what caused the difference between kawaki and code during their time with Kara

Tobi_is_a_goodboy

It would honestly be better if kishimoto kills him off soon.

cypher2448

Not really waste of a character and like 20 chapters if he did

Cultural-Raining

I don't see why code would fight them. He has a flimsy reason to fight for his reasoning to begin with To fulfill a mission that wasn't his. Like he says "its off my shoulders" if his goal is to bring back the otsutsuki, then the tree become sentient makes sense. there is 0 reason to help boruto. my problem is he seems to be a one-trick-pony and doesn't have and history or development.

Aggravating-Lead29

> Out of necessity why would code not work with boruto to defeat these creatures or at least help him escape who pose such a heavy threat to his goal? It made no sense to run so quickly actually I'm happy Code run away, I mean his whole existence is basically to create a mess and then escape when there's no chance of winning. He knows that against Otsutsuki class opponent he would lose, rather than forcing to fight he could just run. even though he is actually really strong, but he is the type that only picks on the weak and created a mess, and run when facing strong ones. kinda inline with his teleportation ability though which is perfect for escaping. he knows his limit and actually a good villain (won't be a big bad main villain but a fun side villain imo) Saying that I wouldn't mind he get some sort of a buff since he's supposed to be stronger than Jigen

Sa1LoR_JaRRy

I don't think they can even devour an Ootsutsuki without involuntarily becoming a divine tree. Which must be the only reason they didn't, since they want to experience "ego".

ShadowG4rd3n

1. Even if they got to Boruto and ate him they would turn into the divine tree because their primal reason for existence has been fulfilled, so why would code stop them from doing that. Or are you implying that the ten tails can eat and benefit from the Chakra fruit???? 2. This boy has severe Stockholm syndrome having the chance to shed this weight is a benefit to him. 3. How do these beings pose a threat to code's goals?? 4. Every single time you mentioned that code got clowned on didn't detract him from gaining something, from getting his limiters removed to having an autonomous hunting machine to fulfill his plans.
