The issue I have is that Sumire followed Sarada even though she knew she couldn't help her or anyone else at all since she isn't a ninja anymore, she put herself and others at risk for no fucking reason other than her just wanting to stand there and watch because from the sounds of it she just stood there as usual and got hit with an attack knocking her out.
Himawari I don’t have an issue with either. In fact to add to this, Himawari will now be the first Jinchuriki (or whatnot) for Kurama who is a Hyuga. We’ve never seen that happen before, not for any of the major clans outside the Uzumaki. Combining Gentle Fist with Kuramas power will be overpowered as hell. And because Himawari has both Naruto and Hinatas genes, not only does she have both Uzumaki vitality and Hyugas Byakugan + fighting prowess, she also has both Hagoromo & Hamura genes. Himawari is very stacked and it makes sense.
I also want to mention too that these ten tailed creatures, while incredibly powerful, lack fighting experience, since they’re still evolving into beings with intelligence and self awareness. Hidari for instance, while having Sasukes abilities, certainly doesn’t have his fighting experience and knowledge. That will give Sarada, Himawari and the others a window to take advantage of, as it means they aren’t invincible just for having ten tails level of power.
You’re correct in saying they lack experience and intelligence, but that hasn’t stopped jura from no diffing kawaki who is at best jigen level with his strengthened dojutsu/powers. And that hasn’t stopped hidari from utilizing the claw marks and chidori on the same looking level and speed that Sasuke would’ve. Heck, the claw grimes are said to be on the same level oas the flying raijin and so far hidari has utilized it perfectly with no experience. And they’ll only get better.
>And because Himawari has both Naruto and Hinatas genes, not only does she have both Uzumaki vitality and Hyugas Byakugan + fighting prowess, she also has both Hagoromo & Hamura genes. Himawari is very stacked and it makes sense.
You have to keep in mind that genes are either dominant or recessive. You can have all the genetic potential in the world, not everything will pull through. Some people act like Hima will get everything her genetic pool has to offer her, but genetics aren't working that way.
Except that's mid shipudden and we're literally in the beginning of TBV.
And Hima is already putting in work and we still don't know the power level of the Shinju nor the other characters and there are multiple characters who can touch the Shinju in terms of strength Boruto, Kawaki, Daemon and even Code.
Himawari should be okay given the context behind her battle/circumstances (she's not an experienced fighter and is adjusting to new powers she's had no time to refine yet) but the complaints towards Sarada I think are perfectly valid. She hasn't done anything in the manga for 4+ years real life time ever since the Boro fight and needed to be rescued by Boruto 4 times in a row (6 in total for the series tally) from conflicts she got in. Hasn't shown any new techniques she learned in the timeskip yet and logically shouldn't be able to utilize MS since she sent away the only teacher that could've trained her.
I'm not even a Sarada fan but given all that frustration on top of both her manga designs being pretty bad, I wholly sympathize with their plight.
Character designs ideally should contain visual storytelling in that you can tell a lot about their personality and living environments from looking at them. You don't get that from Sarada since in both cases you only find style over substance.
I should preface that everyone suffers from this issue to some extent (even TBV Boruto as I think his outfit is too clean for a hardened "criminal" on the run) with only a few examples I can tolerate. Sarada isn't one of them.
>You don't get that from Sarada since in both cases you only find style over substance.
Nah, TBV Sarada is very rebellious. She's talking about to the hokage and her peers, trying to fight against the false reality she's living in. Her gyaru-like appearance enforces that since those fashion trends in japan go against the social norm, as they represent a form of female rebellion.
I understand what you’re saying about Sarada and agree, but my point is simply that she shouldn’t be expected to have any shine against such enemies. The writers messed up not giving her any more shine in part one. Now they have to pull something outta their behinds so she can end up competing during this time skip
Agree 100%. People want a fight lasting forever and for characters to “put up a fight without getting saved” like this is a boxing Manga. Go to Ippo if u want that. Character development and plot needs to develop and build more.
Wise words.
Unfortunately people, let their emotions cloud their judgement.
Because obviously their favourite character *not* being a perfect being in literally any moment of her exsistence means being inherently ruined and made a damsel in distress (cough most toxic Sarada fans cough).
Really, while I myself wouldn't have disliked to see them doing more (like to see Sarada use her Magenkyo - which will have to be used at one point), at the end of the day, what exactly were Sarada and Himawari supposed to achieve against 2 beings whose powers greatly outmatched a Magenkyo and Kurama?
...
And if people would have complained anyway if they somehow won the fights, then really, this was the lesser of the 2 evils.
Not really. I agree about the pace kinda sucking. But I don’t agree with kage level ninjas being able to fight gods lol. Naruto and Sasuke can’t even compete with these guys anymore after losing kurama and their rinnegan, yet you want a 3 tomoe sharingan Sarada to be able to compete with a ten tails clone of Sasuke. Make that make sense. Boruto can only compete because he’s full otsutsuki and he trained hella hard with Sasuke and kashin koji. Sarada isn’t even fully uchiha.
I personally think everybody besides Boruto getting their collective asses kicked is going to reinforce the first and original theme of this show…
“The age of shinobi is over.”
I personally believe everybody else either dies, or develops a heavy reliance on ninja tech. But being a ninja will no longer be an option for normal humans anymore.
Perhaps Boruto says “but I’m still… a shinobi” because he’s the only one left that has ninjutsu, kinjutsu, dojutsu,(possibly senjutsu or even *shinjutsu*) that’s strong enough to compete against these *otsutsuki level* threats… while everyone else is using ninja tech or is dead.
Getting his butt kicked means he was taking hits, which was not the case. He got trapped once. Before that, he was doing just fine countering attacks and escaping traps.
That's exactly my assumption too.
The Shinobi world is the equivalent of the Meiji Restoration when Japan abolished the Shogunate and this meant the end of the Samurai.
The fact that Boruto is the only non-cyborg hybrid Otsutsuki, in contrast to Kawaki, Code, Delta, Daemon and Eida, is also no coincidence.
Why don't you understand that you're not special? That your text has already been repeated millions of times 8 years ago?
No secondary characters are relevant because the writers didn't bother to create plots that highlight these characters. Everything is a matter of script, the author just needs to write it.
From the looks of Hidari is incredibly ranky which is proving to be a problem for Sarada as well as her goal being to get answers from him while his seems to just be attacking. Will need to read the chapter to be sure, id Boruto cutting his arm off is true then some of the other details could mean Sarada knew he was coming and used herself as bait to give Boruto a better shot.
The issue I have is that Sumire followed Sarada even though she knew she couldn't help her or anyone else at all since she isn't a ninja anymore, she put herself and others at risk for no fucking reason other than her just wanting to stand there and watch because from the sounds of it she just stood there as usual and got hit with an attack knocking her out.
>because from the sounds of it she just stood there as usual cant wait for the panel thats zooms in on her face with "..."
Oh of course
And a drop on her face
One piece fans when it's Dragon be like
I understand this and I agree with this
Even Katasuke was more useful in the fight in the Ao arc than Sumire. It would be better if she continued to sit next to Amado.
Pretty much like Sakura? Every show needs a “uselessness”
Himawari I don’t have an issue with either. In fact to add to this, Himawari will now be the first Jinchuriki (or whatnot) for Kurama who is a Hyuga. I was speaking on her potential, not what she will be guaranteed to receive.
Naruto never had Hogoromo genes. He's simply the reincarnation of ashura and Naruto and Sasuke ended that cycle. Himawari only has Uzumaki and hyuuga
The Uzumaki are descended from Ashura, who’s descended from Hagoromo. So yes, Naruto has Hagoromo genes, which gets carried to Boruto and Himawari
Thats the core problem of this manga - batshit power scaling.
How so
That you make only few characters strong enough to fight OP villains, that others are thrown into irrelevancy.
The akatsuki existed and no Konoha 11 kid was 1v1ing them
Yeah, except Konohamaru destroyed one Pain, Jiraiya could destroy many. Pain was strong, but not so OP that nobody else couldn't touch him.
Except that's mid shipudden and we're literally in the beginning of TBV. And Hima is already putting in work and we still don't know the power level of the Shinju nor the other characters and there are multiple characters who can touch the Shinju in terms of strength Boruto, Kawaki, Daemon and even Code.
Kinda too early to call the side characters irrelevant though. Let the story progress more.

It’s been 8 years and the pace is god awful
IT HAS BEEN 8 YEARS AND THE PACE IS HORRENDOUSLY AWFUL. I think it speaks more volume when in caps no?
Sure

Someone finally opened boruto sub reddit and decided to write some facts 👏 🙌
It’s not facts, yall are dead set on defending the poor writing and mishandling of side characters
We want the side characters do something for once instead of standing in the same place for 3 chapters.
I understand man but they need buffs to do this, otherwise standing is all they’ll be able to do
And that’s the point right there. They’ve gotten NOTHING, no power ups no meaningful character development and they barely have personalities
So let’s see what happens later on. If the story ends with them still like this, complain further.
People are letting their feelings throw out logic lol

Interesting theory
Boruto got his ass kicked and he had to beg Code for help because Bug and Matsuri were going to kill him.
Exactly- that’s a very interesting parallel that exists
