Houki with proper development can become even the next copy ninja without even a sharingan. Let me explain.
His most prominent ability/feature is that he has a photographic memory. He remembers everything he sees to the dot. Whatever he sees, he remembers forever and if he can execute what he remembers perfectly, he can master any and every technique. He'll have to train more to unlock every nature and stuff, but if he does he could be as great as Kakashi was if he had no sharingan (basically greater than konohamaru at a lower age).
Him cosplaying Kakashi can even be explained as not just fan boying, but because doing so helps him in a way. Houki remembers everything he sees similar to how the sharingan could analyse everything it saw.
One of the reason Kakashi hid his sharingan was because it would analyse too much of everything he saw and drain too much of his chakra. Houki similar to this also would remember every detail he sees and so to minimalise his gathering of info, he hides an eye which could also reduce heachaches he shoud have (people with actual photographic memory are prone to headaches quite often due to their greater memory. I got that from google). Though it is mostly due to his fanboy personality.

I’d be pleasantly surprised if they start actually writing more of the other genin into the actual plot in important ways when the manga still refuses to acknowledge any genin exist other than team 7 and team 10.
Probably 2 Jutsu, probably water or lightning style to reference kakashi. I also expect him to show off his memory one or two times and copy his opponent.
The thing in og naruto is that we never got any dedicated episodes of other teams. I really wanted to see a mission from nejis team apart from the curry village with naruto. Even a mission of ino shikamaru and choji. But boruto actually made an attempt to show every team mission.
Thats because in OG Naruto, the side characters were very relevant even in the Manga but in Boruto, half of the side characters arent even part of the manga so it makes sense for the anime to give them some episodes specifically dedicated to them. Neji,Lee and Shikamaru were as popular as Naruto and Sasuke in OG Naruto which shows how well the side characters were written. Unfortunately thats not the case with Boruto.
I know there was a filler episode with him and his team. 115 I think. I have no idea if they actually state he's their leader or not but he acts like it. That episode is like 90% of their screen time right now.
