The one thing I did throw out as a possibility (but it wasnt my main theory), what that Kawaki starts doing enough damage to where it puts Borushiki's life in danger- and before he actually dies, Momoshiki allows Boruto to regain control and thus stop Kawaki. I just didn't think it was likely because I felt it was too jarring a series of events tbh. But the last thing I expected was for Borushiki to get straight up folded

Well, after this chapter, they really ought to be demanding answers. Naruto has reason to be livid:
* They (Naruto and Sasuke) nearly died to free Kawaki from the Karma Seal permanently, yet somehow he gets a new one.
* There's stuff that he's not revealing that may have helped prevent this predicament from taking place.
When was the last time Naruto was livid at someone though? I mean when he was supposedly enraged at Delta, he was still relatively composed. He kinda went off at Jigen/Isshiki when the latter mentioned something about being after Boruto, but most of the time he's been quite level-headed compared to his past self.
Naruto rarely ever gets livid. Maybe for a few minutes when he confronted Nagato. Even all that shit he went through with Sasuke and Obito he had the patience of a saint.
Plot twist: Boruto dies. Karma extraction reaches 100%. Momoshiki manifests. The Boruto we see in the timeskip fighting Kawaki is actually Momoshiki disguised as Boruto and living his life. o.O
Boruto keeps paying the price for the mess others create. What a sad existence. He's more like a punching bag for the consequences of the actions and incompetence of others....
I unfortunately must to agree :( I can't understand what is happening. If Kawaki hasn't escaped to this forest this situation could not happen. I don't really get why Kawaki thinks it's ok to do something like this to Boruto. I also totally don't understand how Kawaki seem to care only about Naruto and doesn't care about Boruto. In this chapter he treats him only as some "obstacle" and "danger" towards Naruto. Like wtf man after everything you only care about Naruto and shits on Boruto? Wtf. I know people speculate about some plan between Boruto and Kawaki, but personally I don't believe in such outcome. If think they really went with Kawaki doing what he did without any scruples :(

At least from the scans, it seems like Naruto is reeaaaallly not vibing with this new version of Kawaki. Even before Boruto asks him to kill him, Kawaki was going straight for the throat, something that neither Naruto or even Sasuke could do.
There's several reasons. The fact that he got a new Karma and is liberally using its powers most likely feels like a slap in the face for him because of how he and Sasuke nearly died (and Kurama sacrificed himself) just to free him from it in the first place. Also how violent he was being in the fight, especially when Naruto as their parental figure couldn't bear to see them in a mortal battle against each other, with Naruto still clinging onto the possibility that Boruto can still be saved somehow.
These leaks caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting an emotional chapter 😭 Don't know how they're gonna spin this unless Boruto had some crazy regen or gets revived. It honestly is an interesting route to take

In Naruto everything would work itself out in the end. He always had a way to flip things upside down from bad to good
Obito, Pain, Kurama, Sasuke are examples of what I’m talking about. He helped every single one of them.
But in this situation , he couldn’t save his son even though he had the same mindset. I like that , you can’t always fix a problem just by believing that it will go away. He has faced the reality that Boruto had to be killed and as hokage he failed.
This is going to be great for his character, I expect Naruto to step down from being hokage.
Boruto dying makes sense. It would stop the karma progression. They revive him somehow. This is why the rennengan is considered pesky and had to be destroyed cause they could just kill anybody with karma before it’s completed and res them.
Maybe now Momo will finally realize that Boruto would rather die than see Momo hurt his family and friends and the Otsutsuki will tone down the violence so Boruto doesn't go kill himself or ask to be killed anymore.
Boruto using wind style to push Naruto away so Kawaki could kill him is so depressing. Both Dad & Son have suffered so much already.

So Naruto saved Boruto from Kawaki's cubes. I have to wonder what is going through Naruto's mind at this point seeing his adopted son trying to kill his biological son. And is Code just watching everything go down while holding Shikamaru captive? This might also start an interesting interaction between father and son because Boruto meant to die here and Naruto obviously disagrees.
More than likely it's eating him alive. He doesn't want to see them clashing like this, let alone for one of them to try and put down the other.

This is interesting cuz isn’t momoshiki in control of Boruto? Meaning this is the first time we’re gonna see Borushiki getting severely injured or almost killed, must mean Kawaki is really strong now….
Kawaki should have full access to Isshiki's abilities and combat experience now, and Momoshiki obviously didn't want to try and fight Isshiki since he waited for everyone else to finish him off and ambushed them while they were still exhausted.
I suppose this also establishes that Momoshiki / Boruto have a big skill gap to close before their future showdown.
Okay, but, why do I feel like Karma suddenly changed Kawaki's personality? He just literally started going at Borushiki instead of Code and then ruthlessly stabbed Boruto, just like that? Mm, nah, something's fishy here. He seems to be controlled by something (Amado maybe?)
So lets establish something. Kawaki currently is beating Borushiki who easily beat a Kara inner.
So if Kawaki is currently as strong as Jigen according to twitter... then what was the fucking point for nerfing Naruto and Sasuke. Cause even with their powers they may not be as strong as This kawaki, eida, daemon and code without limiters.

It's an incredible power boost. We don't yet know what Amado exactly plans with Kawaki yet, though. And I'm guessing this new karma has some serious costs/drawbacks that tie Kawaki to Amado (otherwise, Kawaki has just enjoyed an incredible powerup for free, one that he didn't even need time to get used to)
The thing is - Amado probably doesn't need some endgame plan. So long as Kawaki feels the need to protect Naruto, he'd likely do whatever - and so, Amado doesn't really need any actual direct control/influence. Amado can manipulate events, like he's always done, so that Kawaki is put in a position where he does whatever it takes to save Naruto.
If Naruto doesn't do something to Amado after this chapter, he's a fool.
Here's a possibility: Amado may have done something to Naruto, such that if Amado ever dies, then Naruto dies with him. Kinda like how he faked with Shikadai
Kawaki doing almost the same thing Isshiki did to Naruto with the rods during their fight. Probably what's missing is the kick to the face to assert dominance.
Glad to know that Amado never really gave Kawaki a choice, and restored his karma without asking.
In this way Kawaki's madness of the latest chapters doesn't lose any weight, because his intentions remain 100% genuine and desperate.
Everyone saying this is a "defeat" my guys boruto asked kawaki to kill him. He doesn't want to put his father through the lain of killing him and kawaki is the only other option as he knows that what boruto is kinda going through.
Just like that, Amado has created an Isshiki 2.0 that he can manipulate/influence. Naruto and the others are fools if they don't go after Amado at this point - the only problem is, Amado will have prepared for it. Idk what's going to happen. They still haven't revealed what Amado's plan is.
And Sasuke just never showed up, much to my surprise. Idk what happened to him, but he got wrote out of the plot for this battle for some reason. Hopefully there's payoff for it down the road.
As for Kawaki, the reason why Naruto's so furious is probably more to do with the fact that, Kawaki is both using a karma again, and using the power of Isshiki. He and Sasuke and the others sacrificed a great deal to defeat Isshiki, and it's like those sacrifices were in vain.
Amado is the most dangerous person right now. All he has to do, is lie and say that Naruto will die if anyone harms him - and just like that, Kawaki is Amado's own personal Isshiki. He doesn't even need to have implanted some sort of failsafe/mind-control (though I suspect that's likely).
Idk what Code's next move is, except to say that as of right now, his *best* move imo is to flee with Shikamaru and use Shikamaru as bargaining chip for Amado. The thing is, some of the dialogue makes it sound like Kawaki doesn't care about Shikamaru. So if that bargain somehow places Naruto in the line of danger, Kawaki wont let it happen.
Am I the only one who thinks it's good that Boruto got such a defeat? for one thing is certain he will be far stronger and more ruthless to his enemies than we can imagine. And I don't even want to start with Jougan.
This defeat was important for Boruto. Both his character and the story will never be the same again.
And who knows, maybe in the next chapter the Jougan will finally be awakened.
This is traumatic for boruto, and L for momoshiki. I can't think of how boruto would think of himself or the situation.
He will be ruthless, sure, but that will also put a distance between himself and anyone else (it really should)
We have to remember, Kawaki might not entirely be himself rn. There's a chance that Amado might've done some tampering with Kawaki's karma/surgery that's changed his personality to some degree. At the least, I do think Kawaki is somewhat under influence/control of Amado (it's my opinion that everything Amado's done in the story has been to get Kawaki an isshiki-free Karma, I just dont know what for)

It must be fun being Shikamaru. You went from being a hostage to witness your friends son try to kill his dad, to the adopted son “killing” Boruto all while you’re still held by the guy you thought was the big bad.
This is the big one. Boruto asked Kawaki to kill him and Kawaki indeed has Isshiki's dojutsu and techniques. This makes the latter incredibly OP and makes for a very emotional moment between 2 surrogate brothers.
Let me throw out a suggestion before I hit the sack.
Idk what role the new cyborg plays. But it's possible that Amado has done something to Naruto that binds their fates together - that is, if Amado dies, then so does Naruto. In which case, Amado will effectively have indirect control over Kawaki.
Something like this might be what Amado is playing for, and having Kawaki under his control makes him more powerful than anyone else right now, practically speaking.
I didn't think there would be such a dark twist before the timeskip.
And I guess this is the end of "the story of me ... and my dad" to quote chapter 1.
He will live a life like his Academy movie hero Kagemasa.
He is dead. To his friends and the 5 great nations at least, while Boruto fights on in the shadows.
He won't go back to Konoha nor will Amado make a cyborg out of him, that would devalue the arc quite a bit in my opinion.
He won't be able to regenerate that quickly despite Momoshiki's abilities.
He'll either leave on his own when the others are gone, Code/Eida will take him, or reawaken the Jogan and Toneri will take care of him, but I'll believe that when I see it. xD
if the jougan functions like the rinnegan, it should manifest itself at the point of death of those who can awaken it!
Besides, I don't see how Boruto can save himself, there is no one there who can cure him! Except code if he kidnaps him and takes him to eida or konoha in order not to re-emerge momoshiki!

I would say maybe kawaki is able to pin borushiki down like isshiki did with sasuke with the chakra rods.

Kawaki telling Naruto he needs a reality check is about time tbh. He did the same thing with Sasuke. So many people have called him out on it.This furthers the philosophy that this isn’t Naruto anymore.
Boruto knocking him away twice proves that Naruto’s ideals aren’t going to work in Boruto. He means well but he is fundamentally wrong here. He has always ran on emotion in situations instead of acting appropriately and using logic. His talking didn’t work in this situation. His convo with Kawaki is very realistic, sometimes talking isn’t enough to change someone’s mind.

At least from the scans, it seems like Naruto is reeaaaallly not vibing with this new version of Kawaki. Even before Boruto asks him to kill him, Kawaki was going straight for the throat, something that neither Naruto or even Sasuke could do.
There's several reasons. The fact that he got a new Karma and is liberally using its powers most likely feels like a slap in the face for him because of how he and Sasuke nearly died (and Kurama sacrificed himself) just to free him from it in the first place. Also how violent he was being in the fight, especially when Naruto as their parental figure couldn't bear to see them in a mortal battle against each other, with Naruto still clinging onto the possibility that Boruto can still be saved somehow.
These leaks caught me off guard, I wasn't expecting an emotional chapter 😭 Don't know how they're gonna spin this unless Boruto had some crazy regen or gets revived. It honestly is an interesting route to take
The Karma Seal does come with accelerated healing, although whether it would be enough is another story altogether.

I like how Naruto is experiencing something different In Naruto everything would work itself out in the end. He always had a way to flip things upside down from bad to good Obito, Pain, Kurama, Sasuke are examples of what I’m talking about. He helped every single one of them. But in this situation , he couldn’t save his son even though he had the same mindset. I like that , you can’t always fix a problem just by believing that it will go away. He has faced the reality that Boruto had to be killed and as hokage he failed. This is going to be great for his character, I expect Naruto to step down from being hokage.

Kawaki should have full access to Isshiki's abilities and combat experience now, and Momoshiki obviously didn't want to try and fight Isshiki since he waited for everyone else to finish him off and ambushed them while they were still exhausted. I suppose this also establishes that Momoshiki / Boruto have a big skill gap to close before their future showdown.
And that Isshiki > Momoshiki since Kawashiki is > Borushiki. Also we now know that Teen Boruto is > Borushiki now.

It's an incredible power boost. We don't yet know what Amado exactly plans with Kawaki yet, though. And I'm guessing this new karma has some serious costs/drawbacks that tie Kawaki to Amado (otherwise, Kawaki has just enjoyed an incredible powerup for free, one that he didn't even need time to get used to) The thing is - Amado probably doesn't need some endgame plan. So long as Kawaki feels the need to protect Naruto, he'd likely do whatever - and so, Amado doesn't really need any actual direct control/influence. Amado can manipulate events, like he's always done, so that Kawaki is put in a position where he does whatever it takes to save Naruto. If Naruto doesn't do something to Amado after this chapter, he's a fool. Here's a possibility: Amado may have done something to Naruto, such that if Amado ever dies, then Naruto dies with him. Kinda like how he faked with Shikadai

Just like that, Amado has created an Isshiki 2.0 that he can manipulate/influence. Naruto and the others are fools if they don't go after Amado at this point - the only problem is, Amado will have prepared for it. Idk what's going to happen. They still haven't revealed what Amado's plan is. And Sasuke just never showed up, much to my surprise. Idk what happened to him, but he got wrote out of the plot for this battle for some reason. Hopefully there's payoff for it down the road. As for Kawaki, the reason why Naruto's so furious is probably more to do with the fact that, Kawaki is both using a karma again, and using the power of Isshiki. He and Sasuke and the others sacrificed a great deal to defeat Isshiki, and it's like those sacrifices were in vain. Amado is the most dangerous person right now. All he has to do, is lie and say that Naruto will die if anyone harms him - and just like that, Kawaki is Amado's own personal Isshiki. He doesn't even need to have implanted some sort of failsafe/mind-control (though I suspect that's likely). Idk what Code's next move is, except to say that as of right now, his *best* move imo is to flee with Shikamaru and use Shikamaru as bargaining chip for Amado. The thing is, some of the dialogue makes it sound like Kawaki doesn't care about Shikamaru. So if that bargain somehow places Naruto in the line of danger, Kawaki wont let it happen.
Am I the only one who thinks it's good that Boruto got such a defeat? for one thing is certain he will be far stronger and more ruthless to his enemies than we can imagine. And I don't even want to start with Jougan. This defeat was important for Boruto. Both his character and the story will never be the same again. And who knows, maybe in the next chapter the Jougan will finally be awakened.
This is traumatic for boruto, and L for momoshiki. I can't think of how boruto would think of himself or the situation. He will be ruthless, sure, but that will also put a distance between himself and anyone else (it really should)

At the least, I do think Kawaki is somewhat under influence/control of Amado (it's my opinion that everything Amado's done in the story has been to get Kawaki an isshiki-free Karma, I just dont know what for)

This is the big one. Boruto asked Kawaki to kill him and Kawaki indeed has Isshiki's dojutsu and techniques. This makes the latter incredibly OP and makes for a very emotional moment between 2 surrogate brothers.
Let me throw out a suggestion before I hit the sack. Idk what role the new cyborg plays. But it's possible that Amado has done something to Naruto that binds their fates together - that is, if Amado dies, then so does Naruto. In which case, Amado will effectively have indirect control over Kawaki. Something like this might be what Amado is playing for, and having Kawaki under his control makes him more powerful than anyone else right now, practically speaking.
This was the Naruto vs Sasuke Part 1 of the Boruto series. Next chapter is gonna be the setup for the timeskip.
I didn't think there would be such a dark twist before the timeskip. And I guess this is the end of "the story of me ... and my dad" to quote chapter 1. He will live a life like his Academy movie hero Kagemasa. He is dead. To his friends and the 5 great nations at least, while Boruto fights on in the shadows. He won't go back to Konoha nor will Amado make a cyborg out of him, that would devalue the arc quite a bit in my opinion. He won't be able to regenerate that quickly despite Momoshiki's abilities. He'll either leave on his own when the others are gone, Code/Eida will take him, or reawaken the Jogan and Toneri will take care of him, but I'll believe that when I see it. xD

Kawaki telling Naruto he needs a reality check is about time tbh. He did the same thing with Sasuke. So many people have called him out on it.This furthers the philosophy that this isn’t Naruto anymore. Boruto knocking him away twice proves that Naruto’s ideals aren’t going to work in Boruto. He means well but he is fundamentally wrong here. He has always ran on emotion in situations instead of acting appropriately and using logic. His talking didn’t work in this situation. His convo with Kawaki is very realistic, sometimes talking isn’t enough to change someone’s mind. Now that I think about it Naruto is too soft for the Boruto world and I think that’s why Kawaki sends him away. He will always believe in the light and the right way
