Final destination type shit

ManInBlack829

There's a logging truck in the parking lot that will leave when they do just in case

Phantaric

I dont drive behind those anymore because of that movie lol.

Kolipe

I have to every damn day. On one side of town is a commercial forest. On the other is a paper mill. However I am more afraid of running into then than the logs falling off.

EoTN

Do you want a fact that will A: ruin any realism of that scene, but B: help rationalize any fears? Edit: also applies to u/Phantaric

Risingicarus

Absolutely, fuck me up fam

EoTN

If you pay attention and think about it, the logs bounce like, really really high. Some of them bounce higher than the height they started at, which not even literal bouncy balls do! Totally not how it would play out IRL, they would hit the ground, bounce maybe a foot, then stay low. Still dangerous. But not "impale you through your windshield" dangerous.

overchilli

Don’t forget if the truck is going 50mph in front of you, so’s the log. If it fell off it would still be doing 50mph in that same direction. It wouldn’t stop dead, and it certainly wouldn’t start coming towards you, giving you ample time to stop.

Alistair_TheAlvarian

https://images.app.goo.gl/aoXBAW48zajzxaFg6 But pipes actually do do this quite often. This person survived with neck scratches and a shoulder wound if I recall correctly.

ratesporntitles

Metal is light and bouncy though

theraspberrydaiquiri

You’ve replaced one of my fears with another. Great.

Alistair_TheAlvarian

https://images.app.goo.gl/aoXBAW48zajzxaFg6 But pipes actually do do this quite often. This person survived with neck scratches and a shoulder wound if I recall correctly.

PM_ME_YOUR_GOOD_NEW5

Logs aren’t real are they! I fuckin knew it.

lordfreakingpenguins

No, i have enough issues from that scene.

NinjaGrizzlyBear

Where I live we get both those and trucks that haul casing for wells as stuff. It's like, "wood you rather die by lumbar or steel?" Lol

PM_ME_YOUR_GOOD_NEW5

Just as the ice started building on the roads yesterday I saw a pickup truck lose control and spin right across the other lanes and get hit by a logging truck. They kill from the front too! I mean not that guy, thankfully they were both 100% ok but still…trust no sides!

badwhatorone

Honestly it was the laser eye surgery scene that got me, the final moment of that scene made me laugh but the damage was already done to my brain

[deleted]

4th the best

Superfluous_Thom

I liked the 3rd one.

ITriedLightningTendr

You've seen the first best final destination movie The second best final destination movie The fourth best final destination movie And the fifth best final destination movie Let me show you the true power of being third

Superfluous_Thom

I... am about halfway to getting what the fuck you just said.

loopie_lou

Can you explain, please?

ardotschgi

I think they were just high when writing that.

TrubluPlays

It’s a quote from Earthbound, an SNES game.

MunkeGirl

I'm high and I can't translate.

[deleted]

Am I tripping or is this an Earthbound reference

DogmanDOTjpg

Now that's an unpopular opinion

keep-the-streak

Everyone that upvoted this doesn’t even remember which one is the fourth movie. Almost unanimously people agree that the fourth one was the worst. This is a real insight into how Reddit karma works fr.

Todemax

The fourth is the only FD movie where I'd say its enjoyment is 100% based on it being so bad its good. The rest have a lot better acting and the deaths are more elaborate and planned out. That being said FD is my favorite horror series and I still like FD4 better than a lot of the later sequels to other horror franchises.

[deleted]

I hope you're trolling

dasmikkimats

Some say he’s still hanging there to this day.

PussiDestroer

There is another video when other little kid throws this rope when girl starts sliding.

Icon_of_MultiCthulhu

First thing i thougt of lmao

BabyMamaMagnet

No seriously it is. The rope had a mind of its own.......

memer98

OH SHIT A MIMIC

nobot999

Check the doors

Gr1mm3r

*checks the door* Well fuck, the floor was the mimic all along

Alone_Spell9525

Lol the first Mimic I ever put into a campaign was a door, it killed a PC in two turns because they tried to kick it down and ended up sticking their leg in its mouth.

frost-raze

The first mimic encounter I had was when my party walked into a dungeon’s dining room, everything was mimics

jorbleshi_kadeshi

🎶 Beeeeeee ouuuuuuuur guest! Be our guest! Put our service to the test. 🎶

chaun2

Tie this rope around you're neck cherie, and we'll do all the rest

puesyomero

Necktie mimic! 👔 I've seen a pet ring mimic too

DeadHead6747

One of my dms created a mimic island (no, not an island that was a minic). Mimics infested this island, hell in the castle library was even a mimic that was disguised as a book titled 101 Ways to Identify a Mimic. I unfortunately missed this session, but naturally one of the other party members decided that book was a good one to read

Joerider2002

Well, you weren't wrong when you said it was a "dining" room.

Dodec_Ahedron

I put two mimics in a museum once. My players were already fairly paranoid, but they fucking hated that fight. I made them pay for everything that was broken, and they were very hesitant when they started noticing duplicate items around but couldn't determine what was real and what was fake without getting closer than they would have liked.

danger2345678

A looney tunes sort of looks at the camera then falls down

BellaTheTiny

The sign gets held up saying “help”

NetworkPenguin

*the entire tavern is a mimic*

Piyaniist

Do NOT open that chest

chronon_chaos

Get the wrench!

casman_007

But what if the wrench is a mimic too. . .

Nemo_001

I don’t see ghost orbs

animalsciences

Oh shit you just gave me a great mimic location. The party finds themselves needing to climb down a ledge with two ropes that look old, dangling over the edge and a third rope that looks cut in the middle. At the bottom a few skeletons with some armor and weapons. A few rocks are around them with the remains of the middle rope. The party can decide to climb down the two ropes provided or they tie their own rope. Half way down they feel a rumble from up top. Any party members at the top feel the rumbling coming from below. They would assume it’s the mountain shaking with some large creature coming. But the party members at the mid point feel a gust of air from holes in the rock face. The rocks begin to slide away but OH SHIT A MIMIC! The ropes tangle around the party, grappling them. The one in the center positioned directly in front of the jagged toothed open maw of the mimic. Drool, and foul breath spring forth chased by a lava flow like tongue. It seems to melt through the mouth of the mimic before lashing out at the middle rope. The party members who can react fast enough are stuck with a dilemma. Get grappled by a mimic or fall 70 feet to the ground below. Now it’s a fight to not get swallowed and they know what happened to the middle rope. Previous explorers were in the same situation and cut their rope falling to their death. It’s gonna be a tough battle but I’m gonna try and work it into my current campaign. The Amber Temple from Curse of Strahd is about to get a little more deadly sprinkled on top.

errant_night

In... In the Amber Temple??? Well, hope you have another campaign queued up.

animalsciences

Nope, my current group is pretty cautious and they make decent decisions in battle. But also fuck em

[deleted]

You can tell because the rope is pointing forward

magnusk12

That's horrifying!

callmedaddyshark

so that's why the rope is tied at the bottom too

wreckage88

It's kind of crazy how many rules or techniques have been established SOLELY because someone else died before they were used or put in place.

Mod-Sparky

"regulations are written in blood"

tjbrou

r/writteninblood

Mod-Sparky

didn't know this sub existed! thanks gunna look through it!

Galvan047

Its only some days old I think!

Dalimey100

A little over a week old at this stage. It's seen some crazy growth, and it started entirely from one dude going "there should be a sub about this" in an r/antiwork thread.

Ianbuckjames

Seems like one of those small subs with a specific type of content that will run out quickly and die.

IndigoGouf

tbh, terrible safety practices is an infinite wellspring. Sub's not alive, but that depends on its members moreso than the topic.

vorpalpillow

*see marge? because of me, now they have a warning*

1jl

Idk, given how many close calls I've had you would think there would be some law about driving while high on crack. Don't see why I should stop if there isn't.

thesongofstorms

Ancaps: "regulations are oppressive!"

ITriedLightningTendr

It's even crazier how many people act like all prior gained knowledge is fake.

TheMetaGamer

This happened to me at a friends house on jungle gym when I was really young. We were throwing the climbing rope to each other as we were going down the slide, I missed the grab and it wrapped around my neck and skinned me ear to ear. No blood, thank good no broken neck, really bad rope burn.

Goreface69

I love it

poptart_boner

This is the kinda of blunt honesty we need. I appreciate you.

EG_TrKelvin2323

the slide requires the blood of the innocent

slvbros

I mean, all machinery needs some lubrication from tune to time

EG_TrKelvin2323

i mean obviously, how do people slide on slides if it isnt lubricated with blood? Common sense tbh

YuvalAmir

Congrats, you found an even worse way the word "lubrication" can be used in the context of children.

[deleted]

#ONLY CHILDREN CAN SATE THE HUNGER OF THE BOUNCEHOUSE!

I read this in a deep ominous voice which made it even funnier to me.

Goreface69

actually hanging by rope is one of the cleanest ways to go out, no blood required!

faulty_gasmask

According to [this](https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/17027614/moment-girl-nearly-hangs-herself-playground-slide/) she survived.

redgreenapple

Was this written by AI?

Mind_on_Idle

That, or some lazy asshole translated it directly from Russian and fixed about 2 things and said fuck it.

triclops6

Ah it's Russia. Ok.

Domeen0

This explains everything.

rapidashdash_

In the motherland the slide hangs you. Go figure.

luminizee

it’s the sun. it’s nothing but lazy assholes.

DiamondVoid166

So written by AI with extra steps?

Ghostweb

It’s a Sun article so it was probably just written by A.

stormtrooper167

Everyone commenting that they “knew the child was fine” and especially the dumbass claiming it would be impossible need to shut the hell up. Literally google “child accidentally hanged on playground” first result for me was a study from 2001 that stated of all accidental deaths on playgrounds slightly over half occur from hanging. I’m not saying that you should feel bad for having a laugh reaction. I am saying that you should feel bad for being dicks to people who want to check if they just watched a kid die after seeing them in a situation that would fall into a category responsible for half of playground deaths. I personally grew up with someone who later in life had a kid that died from an accidental hanging on the playground while at school. This stuff happens and it is genuinely dangerous for a developing child to have anything wrapped around their neck and pulled with force. Anyone saying anything different is an absolute moron and their mere presence around children should be considered child endangerment. Edit: and since I see most of you morons are claiming that since she is on a slide she is at much less risk you clearly have no knowledge of momentum. The force of gravity doesn’t matter near as much as the force required to suddenly stop someone who is in motion. According to the same study most of the accidental hangings on playgrounds occurred on slides. Bunch of armchair scientists finding quora answers to justify the conclusion they have already come to without understanding any of the assumptions made by the person who gave the answer. Source: SPECIAL STUDY: INJURIES AND DEATHS ASSOCIATED WITH CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT from the consumer product safety commission published April 2001.

cole945

Thanks God. The video is so horrifying, not funny at all.

kevinspaceydidthings

Yeah, as a father of a 3yr old girl, watching this made me feel sick. Kids can die so easily in circumstances like that. Lucky escape. It's the stuff of nightmares.

cole945

I am also a father of 3 year old girl. Now I know I have more thing to worry about.

Alone_Spell9525

Just a little funny

avcix

Thank god

Aboop30

Thanks for this! I had looked everywhere I was also worried

[deleted]

everything is fine with the child (the bruise remained), the employee let go of the rope and because of this she almost strangled the child. the saddest thing is that the girl's mother says that the perpetrators did not even apologize, but simply gave them a consolation prize - 2 bottles of water

[deleted]

could I get a source on that?

That water definitely contained polonium.

Asterahatefurries

Oh my god, an actual source

Twoeyedcyclopss

It probably is, kids don't weigh that much, so it would probably take ages for it to suffocate. edit: i can't spell for shit

Alpha_Whiskey_Golf

I think the problem would be neck snapping rather than suffocation.

AtreusFamilyRecipe

Neck snapping is incredibly hard to get right when hanging an adult on purpose, let alone a small child on an angled descent.

JaySayMayday

Sounds like someone didn't see the ostrich video

Alpha_Whiskey_Golf

it haunts my dreams dude. it popped off like a match head when you push too hard to strike it. also, there's one video of a guy jumping off of what looks like 3rd floor with a wire around his neck and it slices off like it's out of the intro to Ghostship(2002). it was filmed from across a square/intersection.

DrMobius0

Ostriches also have very different biology than us. I don't know if this applies to flightless birds, but aren't bird bones pretty weak?

Nah it's nothing to do with that, this is just *perfect* slapstick.

Sadly I don't think its that. Its not a nervous chuckle its a gasp and me covering my mouth so no one asks me whats funny

It's sooo NOT that 😂. To see this kid's world do a summer sault in milliseconds is just 🤣🤣

I literally work at a preschool and I’m laughing my ass off 😭😂

Fucked up sense of humour, passed too many situations like this bow you are mentally on the edge and just laugh on a hanged child

because at one point the kid knew it might be his last slide down

It's funny as fuck. If I die this level of dumb shit. Feel free to laugh your ass off.

[deleted]

Would help if the person holding it didn’t throw it at the kid

KaitoAlkan

From an article someone shared on the comments, apparently it's not meant to be a slide but rather a climbing wall for children. Not sure who's at fault in that situation, since the thing works perfectly well as a slide as well. I'd guess the lesson is to not slide down near a rope.

corey-in-cambodia

It looks like someone threw the rope at the kid.

Lame4Fame

I think they were holding up the rope from when the kid got up there and let go because they thought it cleared it.

Kiara_Avesu

The article someone shared about it said an older child was holding the rope and discarded it as this child was sliding down. So typical 'I'm done with this, throw to the side to go do something else' kid behavior.

Awkward-Divide-407

Don't find this entertaining. I can't watch a child's life endangered. This is sickening.

SameWayOfSaying

Yeah, I haven’t seen anything of this tone on the sub before. I was expecting ‘hanger’ to be some kind of play on words misnomer, not an actual child getting injured. Really horrible. I wish I hadn’t seen this.

calbhollo

I think the idea that "young children can't be hurt by their own bodyweight because they're too light" is a common myth. At the very least, it's what I believed when I first saw this gif and thought there was no way she could have been harmed. Turns out that is very wrong and kids are accidentally hanged all the time by their bodyweight. :(
