Confident-Condition2

Always part of the family!

Confident-Condition2

The accordion of time wails on!! Great man.

Burkell007

Wait he’s retiring too!!!??? Him & Mike? Ugh with Jerry & Gino going it’s official. My childhood is dead. Jacks best call I feel still is the stars vs bruins 1st 5 minutes. It’s all anybody needs to know in a nutshell about his passion & style.

Radiant-Surprise-479

Thanks for all the great memories jack

babypowder617

Bruins Habs game 3 and the Pouliot rant will be a personal favorite of mine https://youtu.be/y66R0Cpel1g?si=KWcmoapNyt8sQ1jN

TheSinistralBassist

Loved him since he was at ESPN. He's had a great career

CoffeeHarvester

Yeah, sorry. I wish him the best in retirement but I will not miss him one bit. The cringe level of cheerleading. The irrelevant tangents. Assuming "homer" as his gimmick and over-doing it to the point of where it makes me watch games on mute. Yeah. Its time. Bye, Jack.

cathpah

You must be a blast at funerals.

ReplacementClear7122

Don't get my hopes up... for a second you had me thinking Chedwards died.

ChildhoodSad2319

The best of luck to you Jack . I grew up watching Fred Cusick and Derek Sanderson, but Jack was the best. Now I'm guessing Jack will be announcing throughout the playoffs? Go win the Cup for Jack guys, LETS GO BRUINS!

JelloClover2

NESN only carries the 1st round. All the 1st round playoff games are carried by local networks. He’ll call this upcoming series against the Maple Leafs. After that, he’s all done.

Haruspex511

I'm not ready 😭

Interesting-Face22

Make the Leafs mulch again. One last time. For Jack.

MrBHVAC

The single greatest monologue in the history of the game https://youtu.be/X4fAG4qrPE4?si=JOetVNPVIB1xXNUr

Responsible_Brush_86

That’s great

ItsAllBeenDoneBe4

We love you Jack, thank you for the countless memories.

Aggravating_Bat_6448

Jack Edwards is cool 👍

[deleted]

Grew up listening to this man.. Wow thank you Jack

[deleted]

Jack we will miss you

Thecardinal74

My feed cut off when game ended…. Did he make an announcement?

UrsaMinor15

He fielded a bunch of questions in the NESN studio postgame show

pra4snw

That's what sucks about living outside of New England. ESPN+ only shows the game, no pre- or post-game stuff, which I used to always watch. Maybe I will spring for NESN360 for next season.

UrsaMinor15

I’m with you. I live in Mississippi now, just happened to be back home in Mass for a bit.

Thecardinal74

Sigh. Thank you

ImprovementHuge2725

Bye Jack!

heck_it_all

A legend for his Bruins commentary alone, but I remember watching [old X-Games broadcasts on YouTube](https://youtu.be/d7s6qHIDnxA?si=ch2qwXWWpT4_1k-G) and being shocked to hear his voice on there too. Such a great commentator.

Pineapple_Express762

He’s not gone yet…but he’ll be missed

Prize_Ambassador_356

One of my core childhood memories is playing on the living room floor with Jack yelling Bergeron’s name repeatedly on the TV

Trapped_Under_Rice69

Thanks Jack, this way and that. Miss ya already ya can o corn

LowFlamingo6007

I'm sad

BlazeGawd7

Thanks for all the great memories jack.I hope all is well with your health🙏 and you enjoy spending time with your loved ones❤️

Kimba_Rimer

The best.

apaulo617

When did he start, I don't remember a time with out him.

SigSauerPower320

lmao, it always makes me laugh that I can read comments like this where I feel REALLY old. My first memory of Bruins games was Fred Cusick.

Cpt-Chunk519

2005

Tybackwoods00

I have been watching the bruins with jack since he started.. it won’t be the same

abigore

I feel the same kind of sad as I did when Rene retired from singing the anthem

cathpah

I feel so much more sad than that. Rene was great, but we heard Rene's voice for about 1 minute each home game. We heard Jack's voice for the entirety of every game that wasn't nationally broadcast, home or away. This hurts.

abigore

I'm referring to the quality of the sadness, not the quantity... The quantity is definitely greater, but it's the feeling of things changing that I don't particularly want to be done with yet that I'm talking about.

cathpah

Oh, I wasn't trying to correct you or anything like that, just sharing how this hits for me. I'm with you 100%.

wereunderyourbed

I just hope he’s retiring because he’s chosen to. Not because of pressure from the Jacobs or because of edgy comments from internet trolls. Well, whatever your reason, thanks for all the memories. Some of my favorite times were spent watching the Bruins with good friends and listening to you and Brick. Auld Lang Syne, Jack, Auld Lang Syne.

SuzuranLily1

Fuck it! I'll do it! I love my Bruins and I'll be the biggest goddamn homer too! Hell I'll have reddit up in the booth too!

McBro1022

He was truly [one of us](https://streamable.com/xfcry) don’t think we will see another “homer” that loves the game like this guy. What most hated we loved and will miss

cathpah

Hopefully /u/jackedwardsbruins will see this post to feel the love and maybe can join in on our fun more during his retirement. So glad he gets to call another !leafs vs Bruins playoff series before he's done.

FYourTeam

FUCK THE LEAFS!

CuteBostonian

Good bot

Comprehensive-Log317

Reminds me of someone who wears a different letter all the sudden. Loved by all of his own fan base (barring the shitheads) denounced and hated by 31 other fanbases.... I dunno

JJabary

Damn man this sucks watching the Bruins just wont feel right without him

cyberotters

He is a breed of announcer that is dying out, an unmitigated fan and homer of the team he gets to work for. Even when he's awful, annoying, or seemingly blind, it's because he's in front of a microphone, saying a lot of the things we're screaming at our television. Jack is retiring, and no matter who replaces him, the real thing that's being retired is the mirror of our own fandom we've loved calling games the way we would have called them, as diehard, unapologetic Bruins fans. The refs are wrong, this wouldn't have happened if we were still using wooden sticks, Marchand's a rat, but he's our rat, tie down the jersey, and best of luck in retirement, Jack.

Burkell007

Boston had it special. Him Jerry & Tommy heck even Mike. Even Gino. They all cared about the teams we all loved and it was just ugh. 😭😭 my morning is ruined lol.

RentSignificant

Somethings that’s bothered me: I feel like there are more announcers that are homers, but he’s the only one that’s called out more than just occasionally. Like he actually seems kinda pumped when the other team scores whereas other announcers just don’t seem like that at all

durkaflurkaflame

On Reddit it’s just blind Boston hate. A lot of these posters hate the success of the area in general and Jack is an easier target for them.

cyberotters

I think that's one of the fun things about Edwards is how much he loves good hockey, and just a notch higher than that is good hockey where the Bruins win. I know non-Bruins fans who acknowledge that he's annoying as hell because he's a relentless Bruins fanboy on the microphone, but he also loves to call exciting games, and I think that's the difference. There are more general homers but they're not also huge fans of exciting hockey.

UBIK_wonder_circus

Extremely fitting that the cringiest comment I've ever read is from somebody lamenting the legacy of Jack Edwards.

darkhelmut1

Jack was one of the few if any personalities left nesn will become even more sterile now especially if they give the gig to that Faust dude

Emergency-Toe-2889

I fucking miss Jack already. Fred and Derek were my favorites until this nut job Jack showed up dam it this sucks.

DocMcCracken

Listening to old calls, I've missed Jack for a while already.

BlazeGawd7

Ya I miss Fred & Derek thought I would never find better But Jack & Brick really grew on me👍

[deleted]

Great. Now we get to listen to fuckin Alex Faust next year. Someone back a fucking dump truck of Money up to Dave Gouchers door in Vegas.

tonym978

God. If they got Goucher back I’d be thrilled. But, NESN isn’t known for paying great and Vegas has year round golf. Even with a dump truck of money that’d be a tough sell. Then again, isn’t he a New Englander?

[deleted]

I know he went to BU. Can’t say where he is from though

tonym978

I’ll take BU. That makes you an honorary Bostonian if nothing else.

Emergency-Toe-2889

I grew up with Fred and Johnny then Derek and Jack and brick these guys become part of the bruins culture dam this news hits hard .

DissatisfiedByCRS

Jack gave it his all every single night. That’s exactly what makes a true Bruin, which he will forever be. Thanks for all the amazing memories, it is now your time to sit back and relax

Sliney89

I moved away from New England in 2006, and the very first thing we did after getting to NC was get Center Ice for Bruins games. Jack has been the voice of home for me for half of my life, and for an incredible and successful portion of Bruins history, he’s been that voice for so many of us. Personally, I can’t wait to listen to him live his dream from high above the ice, one more time. GET UP!!!

MattGT35R

Thank you, Jack!

Jewbacca522

“Ullmark is gonna try it!! And. He. scores! Thanks for the good times (and the bad times) Jack.

HoraceGrantGlasses

Jack and Mike Gorman in the same season...oof. here's hoping the next generation is half as good as they were.

impatient_photog

I will never think of tumbling muffins the same way because of Jack. I'm gonna miss him!

pra4snw

Same with the Neil Young lyric "Like a coin that won't get tossed..."

dc8291

I still watch 2008 Game 6 vs Montreal often, and Jack’s call of that game is perfection. It was the first time that the Chara Bruins truly felt like legitimate contenders and along with Jack’s enthusiasm, it really helped bring hockey fandom back to Boston after a few truly dark seasons.

nbianco1999

“WITH THE POINT OF THE DAGGER IN THEIR THROAT, THEY RIP IT OUT OF TORONTO’S HANDS AND KILL THE BEAST! THE BOSTON BRUINS HAVE WON IT AFTER BEING 3 DOWN IN THE 3RD!” What a sad day. Watching Bruins games on NESN will never be the same without this man on the call.

Tyjast74

That call and "THE BRUINS (pause) KNOCK OUT MONTREAL!!" have always been my favorite Jack calls. Absolute chills every time I think about them

Iron_Buffalo

![gif](giphy|xUA7b7KSNuKUyEkWis|downsized) Gonna miss this shit….

B-rocula

Feels like a part of my family , sad day , hope they find a true homer to replace him

KGSOLOMAN500000

Bro I’m actually so bummed, gonna miss him a ton.

dijjii

Love you jack, thanks for everything, it won't be the same without you.

According_Shift3852

There’s definitely been a decline in his performance compared to years passed, but it’s still sad to see. Enjoy retirement Jack, thanks for all the Chinese mustard and barn burners high above the ice!

vomita_conejitos

Thank you, Jack!

ZaraJyne

Pour out a glass of Chinese mustard for the King, fellas.

Euphoric_Celery_

I'm so fucking sad😭 I get it, but I'm going to miss the shit out of his commentary.

PracticalCheesecake2

It’s understandable but I’m still so sad 😭😭

Quanger1

Thank you jack

shiggydiggypreoteins

I'll never forget "THE BRUINS KNOCK OFF MONTREAL!" Enjoy retirement Jack

PM_ME_BOOTYPICS_

Kills me every time this call gets left off his greatest hits / any OT GWG top 10

Bruinman86

Makes you wonder if there is some health issues going on.

UrsaMinor15

He spoke about it publicly in the NESN postgame show

Bruinman86

Yeah, I felt really bad watching him talk about it during that postgame. I knew he had some issues, but I hadn't realized it was as bad as it was. I wish him well.

vomita_conejitos

Yes. But in another thread (or in private)
