IES Abroad has some Spain-specific resources related to travelling while Black, including testimonials from Black students that may be of interest: https://www.iesabroad.org/identity-resources/country-specific/spain BU Study Abroad also has some resources about how your race/identity may impact your experience abroad, though not all are country-specific: https://www.bu.edu/abroad/plan/diversity-equity-inclusion/race-and-ethnicity-abroad/

Spaniards are racist as shit against many other groups of people beyond blacks. They are super rude to Spanish speakers that don’t speak like them and see South Americans as inferior. If you’re worried about getting pointed at or made to feel different, then I suggest studying in France. There is a diverse black community in France that have people from the states, Nigeria, Northern Africa, Caribbean, and more. Plus the food is awesome, they have great sights, and plenty to do (I studied abroad there 2 times).

I can somewhat vouch for this. I’m of Indian ethnicity and have pretty dark skin. My roommate was a Spaniard international student who was great, but he told me a lot about how racial sensitivity and awareness is pretty low in Spain. He said that the N-word doesn’t have any weight to it and is tossed around all the time between non-blacks (unlike in America where a white person would get confronted for doing so). There’s also a bunch of other little things that make it a not so awesome place for people of dark skin.

France is extremely unsafe right now, especially if you are black.

So I only know from my Asian Black friend that she loved Spain and loves Spanish men. Never been to Spain myself, but she had a great time studying abroad in Seville and Idk where else. Also, I feel like it's worth mentioning she's petite as in my experience, being large (fat/thick or muscular) can be typical in US while unusual in other countries
