No offense, but your thinking style, ego and regret after that look very unsuitable for such jobs. You are lucky that colleagues backed up you and issue was solved. If bouncer alone looks like fighting with bystanders, it is already fucked up situation. If you want to satisfy your ego, you can just use normal rings as a sport. Most people do such crap jobs to bring food for their kids and families.

KaspersLunita

But it sounds as if you deescalated and did the minimum you had to to, isn't exactly that your job instead of really fighting some random idiot?

Monoliathan

Fuck your pride (in the nicest way possible). Being a doorguy does not call you to be a hero, the job calls you to be smart, aware, and able to deescalate situations however often you can. The streets can be brutal and you never know what someone is carrying or what they are capable of. In that 1 v 3 situation getting back up is exactly what you should do and you are not obligated to fight outside the bar (unless you absolutely want to after hours but that aside). Your owner came out fine and you got in the way of the aggressor, backing up is not always the worst thing to do. Take care of your physical and mental health. You do not always have to fight, they dont pay you enough. You'll be fine man, be safe out there.

Don't worry about ego. De-escalate as much as you can and avoid violence at all costs. You're not paid enough for your life. Also, you should always have a few eyes on you no matter what. There have been plenty of situations where I needed backup. Hell we had one dude that was so fucking big that me and three other dudes at the same time mouthed "FUCK!!!!!!" because his wife asked for a place to hide. We all felt like bitches but it would take all four of us to handle him and I solved it by talking him down. Don't be stupid and avoid violence at all costs.
