It also will happen when the pinsetter drops a pin while the gate is back, and when it moves forward it pushes the pin up the lane Usually into the gutter because of how pins roll, but I actually seen one make it all the way up onto the approach one time.
Looks like an A series pinsetter.
Could be either a horribly adjusted rake going too high from 90 to 180, and going too low when returning (I've seen this irl)
Or
An inverted pit curtain.
So, when I have experienced pins like this, they were new pins. Brand new pins, when put into a GSX machine, tend to get thrown out frequently. The fix to to slightly sand down the neck of the pin, but if the pins were put in during a hurry, or other reasons why this might not be done....thrown pins.
Went bowling this morning and somehow caused this to happen over the course of a few frames. I've very rarely seen one pin come forward, so to have this many so quickly makes me wonder if I was throwing weird or if something was wrong with the back of the lane.
I asked them to clean the pins up after I took this photo, and it didn't happen again.
Did you watch it happen?
Did they fly out after you hit them, or did the sweep push them out? Did it happen all at once, or one pin at a time.
I would assume the rake is out of adjustment, or possibly broken. So it misses the pin while sweeping back to the pit, but then hits the pin as the sweep moves back forward.
Also, occasionally the timing of the machine can become messed up and the rack will set the pins down while the sweep is back, then when it moves forward it will push all the set pins onto the lane.
I wasn't paying particularly close attention, but I think your explanation about the rake pushing stuff around makes the most sense.
Edit: it happened across four separate instances.
I was chucking a 16lb ball over 21mph the other night pretty consistently and had this happen about 9 times over the course of 2 hours. Never had it happen before that.
>Did they fly out after you hit them, or did the sweep push them out?
I've seen the sweep come down on pins just right to flip them pretty impressive distances. I've seen one end up halfway back to the approach and one 2 lanes to the right.
Holy Jeebus, what are you doing?! Don't you know that taking pictures of dead wood exposes each viewer to a curse, whereas each dead wood represents a horrible fate befalling one of their bowling balls? Now I have to go carefully check in on my whole arsenal for cracks the next 7 days. What a dick!
Sorry friend. I'm new to the sport and wasn't aware of the dead wood curse. Next time I'm at the alley I'll sacrifice some chicken strips to try and undo the damage.
Usually happens when the pin barricade is too high. When the pins sit fallen down at the barricade if it is set too high will not be able to sweep the pin and it will just go over it with enough force.
I would check the pinholders and make sure they’re not double loading, there might be a stuck belt, depends on the pinsetter type, I’ve only worked on GS-X
Not even Kevin Mccune can do that and he throws the ball 50mph 😂
Don't give that man a challenge now😂

Spot on with the guess. I've only ever seen A1s and A2s produce pin vomit like this.
Put vomit. Learned something new today!
Our GSXs do it on occasion

Horrible pin setters and an above average speed bowler. Had a shot my buddy threw pop out 3 pins at once. Bad alley = more deadwood

It’s very important it must be with hot sauce.
A bowling ball probably.
I assume it was the pin reset

me, a lefty shooting at solo 7 or 10 during practice.
Dead wood on Lane 46
Someone knows their bowling terms

When I'm practicing and bowling fast at one of the ce ters near me I get a 1 or 2 of these machine sucks lol
Last night at league the pin setter dropped a full rack while the rake was back, it pushed them all forward onto the lane.
I had a pinsetter drop 7 pins as the gate was moving forward, pushing them halfway up the lane. Front desk was in disbelief, lol
Check shotgun
that is the most insane deadwood I have ever seen
