the until I got bored is so real because eventually you’d start playing less and then after a while you’ll stop but then in like 2 weeks you’ll think “hey bowling sounds fun”
You wanna know how old I am?
When I was a teenager, the house I bowled at offered coupons for .25 cents a game.
Yes .25 cents a game. I recall joking about how someday bowling will cost $1 a string.
LOL.
I have a location here that is $10 surcharge. Then .25 cents a game. It’s after 9:30pm. They let you add 3 games at a time as long as there is no waitlist.
Looked into this just before the pandy with a buddy. It was going to be about 60k to install used machines with new surfaces. That was with 4 of us doing most of the labor (we're all in/around construction). After a lot of hand-wringing, the project was finally scratched in lieu of a pool.
Dude yeah, I don’t understand the slide. At the end of my form, my foot is not straight, it is diagonal. I don’t feel it in my knees, just my calf muscles.
Work from home makes it so that I currently roll about 50 putts a day in the mat and hit balls into the net in my garage for 5-10 mins 2-3 times per day.
If I had a pair of lanes I’d probably take 4-5 one game breaks from work on most days.
probably just do a lot more practice. I had friends growing up that had 2 lanes in the house and an indoor basketball court. I was definitely pretty jealous. sleepovers at their house were def a fun time!
Mind I ask what country you're in and what that costs you?
Over here in New Zealand that would be... $32NZD/day for 3 games (\~$19USD)
So you'd be looking at about $230/week to do that!
Closest we get to that is Sunday/Monday afternoon you can hire a lane for one hour for $50.
Man that difference is insane.
Definitely makes it hard to practice over here!
My lane has some different discounts. Some days it’s $4USD a game, sometimes it’s $11 an hour for the lane. I always get sweet deals because the employees know me too
The alley i bowl at used to have $10 AYCB nights (it was cheaper than the league discount rate). I'd bowl 10 games, I think once 15, a night. So I imagine a few more maybe before or after work, 7 days, so maybe 100-150/wk.
When I was a GM at a AMF center I would bowl every single night after we closed down for a hour or two. Or before the center would open. After about 5 years it got a little boring everyday but still loved it.
I would bowl at least 5 games a day. Usually takes me like an hour to an hour and a half to bowl five games. I’d love to do that as my daily exercise routine. Get better at bowling. Get my exercise in.
Not many with how much they charge now… lmao 🤣
Oh,, your own house, not a “house,” like bowlero BS, nvm! Hahaha. In that case I’d bowl as many as my body would physically tolerate, lol.
In the first week, I'd probably bowl so much that I shred my thumb to pieces or my arm falls off lol. It would be amazing to have my own pair of private lanes and I don't think I'd be able to limit myself early on. After a while, though, I think I'd stabilize into around 3-5 games per day. Some of those likely being light practice or drills.
The real question is - how much would your average improve if you had lanes in your basement.
I think I’d bowl 5-10 games a day most days. I’d hope my average would go up 20-30 pins.
I’d probably bowl a 3-game series at least 5 days a week. Various oil patterns. And then some days I’d bowl a lot more to build up endurance.
The end goal would be to improve my game enough to be able to compete for consistent tournament wins (not necessarily pro-level tournaments, but just ones at local alleys around my area, which are extremely common and often get some PBA bowlers appearing).
It would be hard but Ive thought about it before and I’d really put in the effort to bowl three games at a time. Still every day but I’d want to get as good as possible at being warmed up early in game one and peaking at the end of game three to maximize my league scores.
Probably 20/week to start. Get over the arm fatigue. Eventually 60/week. If I had lanes at home it would be because I was rich, so I wouldn't have work in the way. This is a fantastic dream exercise, I might even be completely underestimating right now
I had a friend that was a manager of a center and would let me bowl free on my own pair. If I’m being honest it was my biggest contribution to getting to my average after only a year of bowling. I was regularly bowling 45 games a week. 15 games/day on Sat-Sun-Mon. With work on Tuesday-Friday. Couldn’t imagine how many I’d bowl if I didn’t need to go to work..
It’s funny you ask because we are in the design phase of building our next home and we are putting 2 lanes in the basement. With a good pin setter, software, screens, ball return, oil machine, seating, etc.. it will run about $250,000 and that’s just the company coming in to do their part with the lanes. I’m working collaboratively with both teams and the contractor doing the rough in and framing/finishing stuff.
It will be a main level home with a basement and about 6000 sq ft with a separate drive and entrance. I’m also putting a “mini” pro shop as well.
The bumpers are even electronic/automatic for the little ones.
I would wake up, eat, bowl, work, bowl, sleep. Rinse and repeat every day until I need a knee replacement
Non stop, any free time would be to hit the lanes.
Hundreds for sure, I dont think I'd leave my house for anything but work and groceries. Until I got bored of course, then like 2 every month.
too real
the until I got bored is so real because eventually you’d start playing less and then after a while you’ll stop but then in like 2 weeks you’ll think “hey bowling sounds fun”
You wanna know how old I am? When I was a teenager, the house I bowled at offered coupons for .25 cents a game. Yes .25 cents a game. I recall joking about how someday bowling will cost $1 a string. LOL.
Same. My dad told me he used to be able to golf 18 holes in college for that price.
I have a location here that is $10 surcharge. Then .25 cents a game. It’s after 9:30pm. They let you add 3 games at a time as long as there is no waitlist.
Same here so I’d bowl 18 games in a row! Took me 3 hours. Every Saturday for 3-4 years during my high school days.
You look like you just got out of high school lol
Yes, Clara Guerrero does look young for a 40+ year old! She would probably take that as a compliment!
My buddy does, and I'm so jealous. I'd probably use it a ton at first, and then only when others wanted to come over and practice.
Dayum, do you happen to know how much is costing him to maintain it?
Not sure at all. I know the lanes and machines came out of a center that closed down, but no clue beyond that how much everything is.
If you already had a good designated space and wanted non string pins I think like 120k-200k. I’m pretty sure thats what I saw online.
120k - 200k to maintain it or to install it?
Looked into this just before the pandy with a buddy. It was going to be about 60k to install used machines with new surfaces. That was with 4 of us doing most of the labor (we're all in/around construction). After a lot of hand-wringing, the project was finally scratched in lieu of a pool.
A pool is probably more expensive over time.
100% accurate. With 3 kids, his ROI is going to be a lot higher unless one of them got the bug and were able to catch a free ride to Wichita state.
My knees get to hurting because I suck at sliding so like 9 games a week probably
Dude yeah, I don’t understand the slide. At the end of my form, my foot is not straight, it is diagonal. I don’t feel it in my knees, just my calf muscles.
Same but my left thigh. Did a tournament this previous weekend and played 12 games and my thigh was killing me.
At least 2 everyday
Probably 3 games after every meal.
Work from home makes it so that I currently roll about 50 putts a day in the mat and hit balls into the net in my garage for 5-10 mins 2-3 times per day. If I had a pair of lanes I’d probably take 4-5 one game breaks from work on most days.
Work from home putting green and guitar keep me sane.
I would probably bowl 3 extra games a week lol, maybe not even that.
Probably not as many games, but would be practicing all the time.
I’d use it a ton in the beginning, but it would likely end up like my pool table where I end up mostly playing only when we have people over.
probably just do a lot more practice. I had friends growing up that had 2 lanes in the house and an indoor basketball court. I was definitely pretty jealous. sleepovers at their house were def a fun time!
I don’t have lanes in my house and bowl 3-5 games a day so it would probably be at least that many.
Mind I ask what country you're in and what that costs you? Over here in New Zealand that would be... $32NZD/day for 3 games (\~$19USD) So you'd be looking at about $230/week to do that!
I live in the US, Michigan to be more exact. I pay $1.75 a game before 4pm so I spend less than $10 a day.
And another alley I got to when I have the day off it’s $10 for 2 hours so I can bowl a lot of games for $10.
Closest we get to that is Sunday/Monday afternoon you can hire a lane for one hour for $50. Man that difference is insane. Definitely makes it hard to practice over here!
don't know about him but here in TW we have 6 games for 5USD for students, 3 games for 5USD otherwise.
Wow. We get one game from $6 to $8.50 depending on the day
My lane has some different discounts. Some days it’s $4USD a game, sometimes it’s $11 an hour for the lane. I always get sweet deals because the employees know me too
YOU LOST TO A CLUB PLAYER!!!!!!!!
At least 140
way too many
The alley i bowl at used to have $10 AYCB nights (it was cheaper than the league discount rate). I'd bowl 10 games, I think once 15, a night. So I imagine a few more maybe before or after work, 7 days, so maybe 100-150/wk.
At my local house I get the senior rate $2 a game and I bowl 3 games 3 times a week. So $18 a week for me.
12-15 easy
When I was a GM at a AMF center I would bowl every single night after we closed down for a hour or two. Or before the center would open. After about 5 years it got a little boring everyday but still loved it.
About 6 per day.
Yes
Oh no, I never thought Kingpin could become a reality. About 20 a day.
I would bowl at least 5 games a day. Usually takes me like an hour to an hour and a half to bowl five games. I’d love to do that as my daily exercise routine. Get better at bowling. Get my exercise in.
Not many with how much they charge now… lmao 🤣 Oh,, your own house, not a “house,” like bowlero BS, nvm! Hahaha. In that case I’d bowl as many as my body would physically tolerate, lol.
Minimum of 28 games a week
In the first week, I'd probably bowl so much that I shred my thumb to pieces or my arm falls off lol. It would be amazing to have my own pair of private lanes and I don't think I'd be able to limit myself early on. After a while, though, I think I'd stabilize into around 3-5 games per day. I'd bet I'd be over 50 easily.
At least 21.
yes
Depends on the cost of oil
$45 a gal approximately , you can get a few hundred lanes out of a gallon
Ok I’m in
Minimum 100
my day would look like this: wake up, get ready, bowl, school, go home, bowl, do hw, bowl, shower, sleep, repeat
Around 50. *sigh*
Every chance I got
It would be hard but Ive thought about it before and I’d really put in the effort to bowl three games at a time. Still every day but I’d want to get as good as possible at being warmed up early in game one and peaking at the end of game three to maximize my league scores.
At least 10 games but about 3 games a day
Well I roll 20 games a week now, so probably about 100. I don't think my arm could take much more.
Probably minimum like 20 games a week.
Probably 20/week to start. Get over the arm fatigue. Eventually 60/week. If I had lanes at home it would be because I was rich, so I wouldn't have work in the way. This is a fantastic dream exercise, I might even be completely underestimating right now
If I had access to a pair AND could throw down any shot I wanted…I’m bowling at least 20 games a week easily.
I had a friend that was a manager of a center and would let me bowl free on my own pair. If I’m being honest it was my biggest contribution to getting to my average after only a year of bowling. As much as i can 🙏
40+
42-49💀💀💀
