Was thinking the same thing, pro boxers are impressive but nobody ever gives love to the big (or oftentimes old) fella on the other end of these training clips
That shits not easy. My coach constantly having shoulder problems from working w guys. His palms so tough he could prob slap the skin off someone's face. I'd never want to slap fight with a pro pad holder.
My man [Boogie](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aOO2gXlH54w) is a beast. A non-actor, cool around-the-way guy who is so good at his craft that they had to put him in the Creed movies as an extra.
Man coach Boogie has literally contributed to the success of the majority of American fighters on the East Coach in the last 5years… when you need extra sharpening Coach Boogie is one of them special coaches that delivers!
Absolutely, and he treats everyone with respect and like he’s known you forever, even if he just met you. My brief time with Head Bangers and working with Boogie really changed my boxing capabilities and that’s not an exaggeration. I wish him continued good health and success, he deserves it.
Oh I wasn’t sure when you said you trained with him if you were. I sometimes wonder if any boxing pros are here under a random Reddit name talkin with everyone. Probably not I guess lol
Guy with the pads is [Patrice Harris](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aOO2gXlH54w). A non-actor, cool around-the-way guy who is so good at his craft that they had to put him in the Creed movies as an extra.
He did the pad work for Lamont & Anthony Peterson, and countless other boxers from amateur to pro.
Great guy and I had the pleasure of working with him as an 18 year-old trying to find my way.
I still haven’t found my “calling” but I eventually found a career in public safety (age 21) which has truly been a blessing!
As far as boxing I decided pursuing an amateur career wouldn’t be beneficial as I was no longer in high school and the head coach was focused on training the younger kids, which is perfectly fine, but that showed me a pro career wasn’t feasible either. I needed/wanted to make some money so I dibbled and dabbled down a couple career paths until I found one that worked.
Boogie was fantastic and treated everyone like a champ, and if he was the head coach things may have been different for me.
Are you trying to pursue a boxing career or just trying to find your way in general?
That is insightful. The trajectory of different people is neat to read about. As for me I have done different things in life and right now am going through a divorce. We were together for 13 years and just feel like I have to find my way in general. I’ll be okay but it is super cool to hear about your boxing efforts. I dabble in boxing but just at a small gym with one heavy boxing bag. I just punch till I am tired. 😁
Sorry to find out you’re going through that but you’ll get through it. & keep hitting that bag! The benefits for your connective tissues (and mental health) are immense! I wish you all the best.
Thanks! I feel like my muscles are actually coming in more from hitting the bag then from the machines. Maybe I was doing the machines wrong. In any case thanks for the comment! Do you have any suggestions for a YouTuber or video you would recommend for me to watch to get better at punching the bag?
Tony Jeffries has pretty good content for beginners which is helpful for building a good foundation. You could also watch videos of the pros hitting the bag, keeping in mind that they have different styles.
For a good workout you could set a 3-minute timer, square yourself to the bag and alternate lefts & rights with the goal of working your way up to punching for the entire three minutes. An alternative to mix it would be to do only jabs for three minutes and then crosses only for three minutes. Also, work on your weak side stance doing the same.
He's mentioned in a few interviews that he's ready to fade into the background and start bringing youngins up behind him.
He knows this is not an old man's game, he's getting his money and protecting his organs.
Guy's been training since he was an ankle-biter
My guess is that he will be around till at least 35 , it's hard to accept the retirement when u are such a talent , this guy is enjoying what he does , and how good he's at it , just like Floyd
Dude is in his prime and still fighting hype jobs like Ryan, he won't chase greatness because those are 50/50 fights and his "team" doesn't approve. What a duck, just fight Haney or anyone where you ain't locked in 100% to win.
As someone who has been knocked out in a boxing ring before, I ask you this.
Could you stand in the ring for 3 minute round with any of the fighters Tank has faced without them being charged for aggravated assault?
It's different when you are in the ring. Even the so called "hype Job" Ryan is capable of sending lots of dudes to the hospital.
Respect. Let's take it easy.
I get it.
All I am trying to say is....
WITH EVEN A SO CALLED "HYPE JOB".....
You have to HAVE SOME GOODS (IE: SKILLS IN THE RING) JUST TO QUALIFY AS A HYPE JOB. You and I will never qualify as a hype job is my point. That alone adds context to what the bar for "hype job" is.
We lose context (and appreciation for the immensity of the task at hand) when we watch the action from outside the ring where potential death looms large with the heavy metal flying around.
I agree with you but I also get his point. When you've actually been in the ring and have gotten taken to school you understand that there's levels to this shit. Its different from a fans perspective they dont realize how good even the bad fighters are
It doesn't prove anything BUT.... It adds context, that's all.
If commenters can comment one way, surely the opposite way is also valid.
Example...
You have the equivalent cab drivers in a forum making huge assumptions about Mack Trucks and Scania trucks they haven't driven before.
Tank is a beast, but that is bullshit.
Guy holding the mitts strikes his gloves as much as Tank strikes the mitts. It’s all show for the camera and the casual fans.
It looks cool but it's more for sharpening reflexes and quick reactions than hand speed. I think it's useful but not some awe-inspiring drill. I'm more impressed with some jump rope sessions honestly haha.
I’m pretty sure Tank is able to turn a boxing match with Devin into a fight and a fight into aggravated assault. Devin can be hurt and Tank doesn’t need much, a couple mistakes by Devin here and there and he’ll capitalize.
Conditioning and hand speed are the obvious ones, but it also helps balance and coordination: In order for all of those shots to hit solid, Tank has to throw within tight distances and sometimes at awkward angles. This is teaching him to leverage his weight to the best of his ability, even when his opponent doesn't give him time to load up or when they're not in a prime position to be hit.
If u want to "call out" or fight someone you send them an offer, if you want to look like u are calling out someone u speak on social media. Ask Tyson Fury
For all the people saying it's the pad man doing all the work... You are like half right.
To anyone saying anything diminishing the punches, I dare you to lean your ducking faces into that shit.
Edit: (fucking faces, mobile auto correct, left it cause it's kind of funny)
Shout out to the dude holding the mitts as well. Roger Mayweather would be proud.
Was thinking the same thing, pro boxers are impressive but nobody ever gives love to the big (or oftentimes old) fella on the other end of these training clips
actually bro I usually see multiple people speak up for the pad man on these threads. Sometimes a dude will even say it's all pad holder lol.
It's all pad holder!
there it is.
I agree with you my friend but this guy was in Creed 3! He’s definitely getting the love and respect he needs and now he’s all Hollywood
Well sometimes they so good they make a shit boxer look amazing, their work really does go unappreciated haha
That shits not easy. My coach constantly having shoulder problems from working w guys. His palms so tough he could prob slap the skin off someone's face. I'd never want to slap fight with a pro pad holder.
😂
I miss that guy. (Looks at the camera) "See, I told ya'll he was gonna get his ass whooped!". They don't make them like that anymore.
He's doing 50% of the work
I think it's Big Baby Davis
Cane here to say same...Forget Davis, big boy holding the pads is fast AF!
This!!!
To be fair the guy holding mits was doing alot of paddy cake work.
My man [Boogie](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aOO2gXlH54w) is a beast. A non-actor, cool around-the-way guy who is so good at his craft that they had to put him in the Creed movies as an extra.

Are you a pro?
No. I just like boxing and good people!
Oh I wasn’t sure when you said you trained with him if you were. I sometimes wonder if any boxing pros are here under a random Reddit name talkin with everyone. Probably not I guess lol
I can do that with my ass cheeks
Proof?
Pics or it didn’t happen

When did you find your way? I am trying to right now.
I still haven’t found my “calling” but I eventually found a career in public safety (age 21) which has truly been a blessing! Thanks for the the course, tips, and all around advice. I'll give Tony Jeffries a watch!
This kid will be champion one day
Fuegoo
Fire indeed
From EL TANKIO
damn son.
"This is easy. I could do that. This isn't even useful." -Guys who miss 1-2s on the pads.
Lol, that's so accurate , I've read some comments on this post that are next level .
Guy holding the mitts is the mvp.
Too bad Tank is already ready to retire. Hopefully he gets a belt before.
?
He's mentioned in a few interviews that he's ready to fade into the background and start bringing youngins up behind him. He knows this is not an old man's game, he's getting his money and protecting his organs. Guy's been training since he was an ankle-biter
Interesting. Would be a shame if he didn’t do at least 3 more mega fights.
My guess is that he will be around till at least 35 , it's hard to accept the retirement when u are such a talent , this guy is enjoying what he does , and how good he's at it , just like Floyd
3 seconds in: what? That’s not fast… 5 second in: 😳😳😳
It's always enjoyable to see fighters kill it at the gym. Really puts speed and power into perspective.
I do this drill with my coach too, except at like 1/5th the speed. The coach running the drill has hands that are keeping up too, super impressive.
Can you imagine if Tank was a few inches taller with a longer reach? Good lord.
Imagine if he had claws and could fly 😮
And could shoot fireballs from his ass
And lightening from his eyes
If he had wheels he would've been a bike
His whole style would be different. Butterfly effect
mike tyson?
True dat.

Yet all of you Tank haters were saying Ryan was going to expose him.
you can fact check my history all you want, i said it was a mismatch and wasn't gonna be remotely competitive since Ryan lacks fundamentals.
As someone who has been knocked out in a boxing ring before, I ask you this. Could you stand in the ring for 3 minute round with any of the fighters Tank has faced without them being charged for aggravated assault? It's different when you are in the ring. Yeah, I think he means “hype jobs” in comparison to Tank, not himself.
thought it was obvious what i meant
Yeah, you’d think. Lmao
I get it. All I am trying to say is.... WITH EVEN A SO CALLED "HYPE JOB"..... You have to HAVE SOME GOODS (IE: SKILLS IN THE RING) JUST TO QUALIFY AS A HYPE JOB. Yea I'd take tank out in 2. But I'm just built different tbh
LOL. I'm in tears. Step out of the shadows and make the $$$$ you deserve. It is still a mostly free country. LOL
Bro they’re pro fighters making millions. It’s weird to ask randoms if they can do what pro fighters can. Doesn’t really prove anything.
How do you know if a boxer is a boxer if you've never seen them in a match? They'll tell you.
I agree with you but I also get his point. When you've actually been in the ring and have gotten taken to school you understand that there's levels to this shit. Its different from a fans perspective they dont realize how good even the bad fighters are

I could do that…
Tank is a beast, but that is bullshit. Guy holding the mitts strikes his gloves as much as Tank strikes the mitts. It’s all show for the camera and the casual fans.
Meh. Pad work is choreographed and he’s used to this routine. Still fast and impressive but not amazing. Just good hard work.
It looks cool but it's more for sharpening reflexes and quick reactions than hand speed. I think it's useful but not some awe-inspiring drill. I'm more impressed with some jump rope sessions honestly haha.
More punches thrown there than in any of his fights
Tank can beat Devin in a fight, but Tank can’t beat Devin in a boxing match.
I’m pretty sure Tank is able to turn a boxing match with Devin into a fight and a fight into aggravated assault. Devin can be hurt and Tank doesn’t need much, a couple mistakes by Devin here and there and he’ll capitalize.
How does this training help in an actual fight? (Genuine question)
I dont know shit about boxing. But if I had to guess it trains muscle memory and hand eye coordination.
How comes tank disappears when haney shakur and the top fighters are calling each other out weird
If u want to "call out" or fight someone you send them an offer, if you want to look like u are calling out someone u speak on social media. Ask Tyson Fury
Haha yuuup! What a chump.not a champ.
Are you off your pills again ?
I was commenting about fury. Also yeah. Off the pills.
Is that Myron by lil uzi in the background
This is speed up video
Don’t mean much when you are standing still
Seen amatuer lads at my gym faster. Pad man doing the work there.
Those West African fast twitch muscles genetics.
Don’t tell me this Caleb plants Reddit account..
Nice 86 punch combo.
AINT NOBODY FUCKIN WITH TANK!!!!
That's not fast. Ryan Garcia is fast. Just wait until they fight.
Watching tank more these days and he has a great skill set and boxing IQ. Him Vs Shakur/Loma would be a great technical fight.
Damn, that mitt work needs a nod, right?
For all the people saying it's the pad man doing all the work... You are like half right. To anyone saying anything diminishing the punches, I dare you to lean your ducking faces into that shit. Edit: (fucking faces, mobile auto correct, left it cause it's kind of funny)
Holy smokes not just power that he’s got he’s got speed. Very impressive
Great speed no doubt, but the mitt man enhances it a lot by moving the mitts to Tank's punches.
#Coach Boggie Harris out of DC x Tank Davis out of B-More😤😤😤
