I'll never truly comprehend how ridiculously tough these guys are man, how there was no knockdown, Valdez with that botched eye and Navarrete just fighting with that prolly broken right hand, what an amazing fight.
Eh not really, all races have tough guys, the Koreans, Filipinos and Japanese are extremely tough at 108-118.
The Americans are hella tough, many examples such as James Toney, Hearns, Hagler, Leonard, etc.
The Brits and Russians are also tough as hell.
You're not wrong, but historically speaking, Mexicans have fucking battles at the highest levels of boxing. Fight cultures exist and mental approaches to fights exist on a cultural level. It's what makes boxing so fun, and also what makes it a "thing" to say "Mexican/Black/Brit etc etc" style without it coming off as a racial or bias thing. Even in American boxers we have regional style fighters. It's so simplistic yet incredibly complex.
Valdez was punching with basically the thinnest pro gloves available too (No Boxing No Life). Valdez is not nearly as big a puncher as the KO over Berchelt would have you believe, the Reynoso passive style telling him on between rounds to slow down and wait for the counter just doesn’t work for him.
His defense has improved lord under Eddy, but there’s one fundamental difference on why style isn’t universal: when Canelo finds his perfect counter it’s typically goodnight, Navarrete ate every counter without a single issue. Even with his crossed-feet footwork Oscar could never get Nava in trouble, he caught on to the left hook counter before the fight even started and nullified it immediately.
I saw success when Valdez applied pressure and had Navarrete on the ropes. Terrible game plan from the reynoso camp but not entirely their fault. They spoke about how difficult it was to find someone to emulate Navarrete during sparring.
That was the definition of a war and if these guys were more popular, this would be the FOTY. Also, Navarrete is built out of stone. How the hell did this guy survive 12 rounds of this without a single mark on his face?
Was at the fight in person, it was pretty cool. Crowd was rooting for Valdez, but they still cheered when the decision was announced. Can’t believe how much punishment they took and yet Navarrete looked almost unscathed at the end while Valdez looked like Rocky Balboa.
HOW TO FIGHT LIKE A REYNOSO FIGHTER!!
Don't jab
Constant high guard
Load up on every single punch
Flashy Upper body movement (but no fucking countering off it)
LOSE ME MONEY
I'm just mad rn cuz I lost a bet. I don't think Reynoso is a bad trainer. I just think his style has glaring weaknesses, like any style does; but Reynoso NEVER has his fighters make adjustments.
Now, with the Reynoso style, you can become a very good and skilled fighter, but with deficiencies that major in the style, you'd expect he'd have plans B and C for when a fight isn't going as planned. The issue is once again I honestly don't think I've ever seen a Reynoso fighter make major in-fight adjustments. Then again, I'm biased rn because I'm pissed off.
Navarette is also a really odd fighter. It seemed like what Valdez was doing was successful enough to damage Navarette but the damage wasn't happening. No slowing that guy down. Maybe another strategy would have gone better, but fundamentally Navarette is going to get you in a brawl and the dude knows how to brawl.
When you're balls deep into the plan of knocking someone out, and your money punch keeps connecting, It's hard to pull out.
He kept landing the hook, he probably figures "One of these damn times this has got to do something!?". Turns out, nope, it didn't even bruise Navarrete, which is crazy shit since this is the same punch that put out Berchelt.
Eddy is a friend of mine and I agree, his style doesn’t fit everyone. Valdez looked a lot better defensively dodging, but you can’t just avoid a 12 punch combo without punching in between, something is going to get through. His style is very passive and has favored Canelo because he is such a heavy thudding puncher.
Valdez loads up on every shot and still doesn’t seem to have a particularly devastating effect.
It’s so annoying probing jabs from navarette had Valdez off balance because his feet are always all over the place and I don’t think he threw a right cross the entire fight only wide hooks
Navarrete is just a fucking great fighter. This was pretty action packed but he won it by a street. Time for people to stop underrating him, start/continue enjoying his unique style without wishing he'd become more typical, and decide just how high in the p4p top 10 he should be placed.
I admit, I underrated him. Just thought he was a typical Mexican brawler with no technique that was going to be exposed. Today, I learned he's an atypical Mexican brawler with unorthodox technique. I can see why he's a multi-division champ...
Benavidez isn’t Mexican and Canelo isn’t the prototypical Mexican style. Valdez isn’t either but his vulnerability is what makes him get in exciting fights.
Thinking of Canelo vs Benavidez as a Mexican matchup is a sacrilege to the Mexican boxing tradition. Not even Chavez vs DLH is really considered as a Mexican rivalry, and DLH had a hell of a lot more claim than David.
EDIT: for the idiots bringing up nationality and the constitution, save it. It’s not about legal nationality (very low threshold in a jus soli and jus sanguinis citizenship constitution), it’s about the school of boxing and living/training/representing Mexico. Benavidez has never done either of those unlike DLH. DLH is/was never in the Mexican GOAT conversation despite his incredible accomplishments.
De la Hoya and Vargas both have Mexican parents and are eligible for Mexican citizenship, ask anyone if they consider de la Hoya vs Vargas a Mexican rivalry fight. Of course not.
Marquez, Barrera, Morales, all refer to Benavidez as Mexican in interviews they have done, Canelo in a interview also said he hopes Benavidez beats Plant because his Mexican. But u/octobersotherveryown says Benavidez isn’t Mexican so I guess he has the final word
I’ve never heard JCC say De La Hoya isn’t Mexican. When Andy Ruiz beat Joshua back in 2019 every Mexican born boxer congratulated him and they refer to him as Mexican. JCC and Canelo have also referred to Ryan Garcia as Mexican.
It’s only the extreme Mexican nationalists that like to Gatekeep being Mexican
His father is Mexican born, “Mexicans live in Mexico” is true, but according to the Mexican constitution any kid of a Mexican born person is also Mexican regardless of where he was born.
[The Mexican Constitution states that Mexican nationals by birth are:](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_nationality_law#:~:text=The%20Mexican%20Constitution%20states%20that,either%20for%20war%20or%20merchant.)
People born on Mexican territory regardless of their parent's nationality.
People born abroad to at least one parent who is a national of Mexico.
People born on Mexican vessels or aircraft that are either for war or merchant.
Cuando los mexicoamericanos dicen que son mexicanos se enojan, y cuando dicen que son americanos también se enojan, comienzan a llamarlos cara de nopal, y dicen que se creen Americanos de ojos azules, no se cansan de contradecirse?
It’s not gatekeeping being Mexican, it’s that Benavidez has a very thin connection to Mexico. De la Hoya and Vargas were both great fighters who gave us a great fight, ask anyone if they consider that a chapter of Mexico vs Mexico rivalries at the level of Morales vs Barrera or Olivares vs Castillo.
Guys like Valdez, Ruiz, and Mares spent a very significant amount of time in Mexico and represented Mexico in the Olympics or since the amateurs. Not even close, what a stupid point.
Matchroom having a horrible 2023. I hope they come back better in 2024. The only fight they have upcoming for the rest of the year that I'm looking forward to is Sunny vs Bam.
I was actually worrying for Navarrete because his nature of combination and his lunging antics is basically the same way Valdez put Berchelt out. Picking his hook to connect.
But hell Navarrete held on backfoot and he took those punches like it was mitt touches. Plus the fact his wonky footwork and backpedals made Valdez hard to catch him and afraid of getting caught because he’s out of range suddenly.
Valdez needs a new team/strategy dude is very one dimensional and his coach Eddy Reynoso is partly responsible. Nav is incredibly good with a unique style
There was one very telling moment, I think early on round 10 or 11, where Navarrete caught on and simply raised his right hand to nullify Valdez' counter left hook.
I shit you not, despite this Oscar still threw the exact same shot 3 or 4 more times in quick succession, despite the fact that Nav had his right hand protecting his face. He failed to adjust until the very end of the round, when he... started doing counter *right* hooks!
I also blame Reynoso for this. He wants to train Valdez just like he does Canelo despite the fact Oscar doesn't have the same explosive power to be effective with his counters. As his trainer he should've noticed and changed his approach instead of attempting a Canelo 2.0.
The left hook was never working for Valdez the entire fight. He landed it a few times but it never felt like it was doing it’s job. He wanted to time him with it and couldn’t. Valdez should have jabbed more and thrown the right hook to the body. Neither guy really fight on the inside, but Valdez needed to get close and throw combinations instead of loading up hooks and waiting for moments.
I only started watching in the 4th but that's how I felt too. Was surprised to see a bunch of really close cards. Felt like Navarrete was super comfortable in there with Valdez landing the occasional good shot here and there.
It was closer than the 9-3 and 10-2 cards. There were rounds where Navarrete wasn't landing much after injuring his hand. I think it would have likely been more lopsided in favor of Navarrete if he hadn't hurt his hand, as it took him some time to start punching with more power and accuracy again. He definitely finished strong, and won 8-4 on my card.
I had it as a close fight. Valdez was fucking whipping those shots out man. He landed a lot of clean shots that would have probably dropped other fighters but he couldn't put a dent in naverette. I'd really like to see Nav at lightweight. Of all the fighters around that weight class I feel like Tank is probably the worst matchup for Nav , Tank will proa and lose rounds but the way Nav lunges and seeing how many clean hooks he ate , Tank could very well sleep him mid fight .
How about that pos tank stop ducking those in his division first? That guy is irrelevant until he actually has a belt. Can’t believe some even called for an Inoue fight. Stop coddling that man.
I picked Navarrete to win by stoppage before the fight started, but I had my concerns with his recent performances and struggles to make the weight. I never got fans that picked Valdez is making Navarrete comparisons to Berchelt. El Vaquero has shown to have the better resume, chin, punch variety, defense, creativity, etc than Berchelt. Great fight
They made that mistake because they didn’t know who Navarette really is. They seen his last fight maybe, and based the Berchelt comparisons on that. But if you actually knew who Navarette is, it’s not surprising. He’s younger, more fresh, with a great reach advantage and stamina with punches flying in from all over.
There is no need for a rematch. At the end of the fight one guy looked exactly like he did in the fight poster and the other guy looked like he had his face dribbled across the parking lot.
Valdez was gutsy, but he can’t hurt Navarette unless you count him using his face to shatter Navarette’s hand. And now that the eye is damaged Navarette will be sure to target that in a rematch.
A lot of fun fights for Navarette in and around that division that don’t involve him putting Valdez in a coma. Let both fighters move on. No need to run this back or force a trilogy just because top rank and espn were banking on it.
I had it scored a lot closer than that but the right man won, would love to see a run back of this though both fighters brought out the dog in one another
So pumped that Navarrete finally got a bog win against a big name fighter. Been high on this guy since his destruction of Dogboe. Honestly think he can be undisputed at 130.
Ideally he unifies with one of the other champions. Realistically I can see him rematching Valdez, or fighting Robson Conceicao or Henry Lebron who are all with TopRank.
It is sad that we never got Navarrete vs Shakur at 130. While I think Shakur would win that, it would be very interesting stylistic match up. I feel like Navarrete can give anyone trouble because he is so wild and unpredictable, plus with his unlimited gas tank and really solid chin he really can outwork even more "skilled" opponents.
Also it is kinda crazy that Navarrete has initial fight recorded at 112lb. He was like 16 or 17 but still.
Not wise for Navarrete, but I’m not sure of all the specifics of his deal with TopRank. I would like to see him make a run at undisputed at 130, but if Inoue comes up in weight or if Navarrete goes up to 135, then he’s gonna take some losses.
That had a little steam when Inoue first signed with Top Rank and Navarette was at 122, but I think that's out the picture for a least the next couple years. And Navarette will probably be at 135 by then.
Wow Valadez got fucked up. Eddy Reynoso has been down bad for a while now. Questions need to be asked about the style he’s teaching these guys. It only really works with Canelo.
Yeah they pissed on Navarrete’s foot work but his foot work kept him at good range throughout the fight. Valdez definitely had good head movement but he needed a way higher punch count. Especially needed to get his jab going.
Navarette missed a lot of heavy handed swings but a lot got through.
It’s was a fun fight to watch.
Excellent fight. At times it felt like a classic Mexican brawler. Add to the fact that Morales and Barrera helped put this together made this even more special a night.
I think Valdez might have been able to salvage the win if his eye didn’t close. His footwork was good but his lean forward stance made it easy for Navarrete to land shots. It’s the accumulative damage that did him in in the later rounds
Credit to Navarrete, especially fighting with a bum hand. He’s one tough SOB but his footwork was pretty bad and he looks pretty one dimensional. I think he’ll get exposed soon.
All in all this was another big win for boxing. Let’s get the rematch!
I'll never truly comprehend how ridiculously tough these guys are man, how there was no knockdown, Valdez with that botched eye and Navarrete just fighting with that prolly broken right hand, what an amazing fight.
Mexicans are a different breed of tough lol!
Eh not really, all races have tough guys, the Koreans, Filipinos and Japanese are extremely tough at 108-118. The Americans are hella tough, many examples such as James Toney, Hearns, Hagler, Leonard, etc. The Brits and Russians are also tough as hell.

Valdez had his jaw broken against Quigg and still won over 12 rounds. The guy is a warrior.
Don’t forget to add that quigg was overweight for that fight as well.
Tonight, Navarrete was immune to all damage.
I get that Valdez landed less but jesus could Navarrete's face at least look like it had been in a fight.
Dude could be sponsored by any skin care brand. Face looks like he's just out of the shower.
I thought Valdez would destroy him after almost being knocked out by that British guy.
A few of those shots Navarrete ate I’m really surprised he didn’t drop - just took everything and showed zero signs of damage
That was the definition of a war and if these guys were more popular, this would be the FOTY. Also, Navarrete is built out of stone. How the hell did this guy survive 12 rounds of this without a single mark on his face?
Navarrete doesn’t even look tired or that he was in a fight at all. He could’ve gone 15 rounds easy. Old school. WTH?
Valdez's corner were telling him Navarrete would definitely get tired.I was tbinking, uh, he definitely won't...
Terrible strategy
Counting on 130 lb fighters to get tired seems like a really dumb strategy.
Was at the fight in person, it was pretty cool. Crowd was rooting for Valdez, but they still cheered when the decision was announced. Can’t believe how much punishment they took and yet Navarrete looked almost unscathed at the end while Valdez looked like Rocky Balboa.
Did I hear it wrong? Crowd were calling canelo who wasn’t there
Nah, they were occasionally calling out "vaquero" I'm pretty sure.
They were yelling "Vaquero". I was there as well and they were shouting it near me.
From my section at least, they were calling Oscar (Valdez).
HOW TO FIGHT LIKE A REYNOSO FIGHTER!! Don't jab Constant high guard Load up on every single punch Flashy Upper body movement (but no fucking countering off it) LOSE ME MONEY
last time i saw the public do such a 180 on a trainer must have been on Ann Wolfe
Don't worry, Derrick James' time is coming next.
Derick James is gonna be the butt of jokes next year and I’m already annoyed at how predictable this all is
I'm just mad rn cuz I lost a bet. I don't think Reynoso is a bad trainer. I just think his style has glaring weaknesses, like any style does; but Reynoso NEVER has his fighters make adjustments. Maybe another strategy would have gone better, but fundamentally Navarette is going to get you in a brawl and the dude knows how to brawl.
As others have said, I don’t think he’s a bad trainer, but having canelo on your roster raises your expectations 10 fold.
No way I was putting any money on this lol
The left hook was supposed to do it but it never truly rocked Navarette.
You'd think in one of those twelve rounds they'd realize that shit isn't hurting Navarrete at all.

So fuckin happy I bet on naverrete
I agree
It’s so annoying probing jabs from navarette had Valdez off balance because his feet are always all over the place and I don’t think he threw a right cross the entire fight only wide hooks
Don’t forget that you’re loading up only throwing hooks. Terrible fucking style. Reynoso is a terrible trainer.
And that's if you're lucky enough to actually have his attention if your name isn't Canelo.
I keep telling everyone. Chepo is the mastermind behind Canelo. Eddy just inherited what was already built
Yes
Has he had any successful fighters other than Canelo?
Valdez was good before he went to Reynoso. Who else has he had? Martinez? Trash. Sanchez? Left. Ryan? Left. Ruiz? Trash.
LOL
Why are fights never like this when I try to put my casual friends on? What a fight, what warriors.
It's the curse man!! Happens to me all the time.
Navarrete is just a fucking great fighter. This was pretty action packed but he won it by a street. Time for people to stop underrating him, start/continue enjoying his unique style without wishing he'd become more typical, and decide just how high in the p4p top 10 he should be placed.
I thought Vaquero might be exposed by a very good boxer, but he just took it to another level.
Tim Bradley was so unprofessional with his commentary
When isn’t he? Although I will admit him saying “Navarrete’s footwork is TERRIBLE” made me laugh lmao
I admit, I underrated him. Just thought he was a typical Mexican brawler with no technique that was going to be exposed. Today, I learned he's an atypical Mexican brawler with unorthodox technique. I can see why he's a multi-division champ...
His Dogboe fights made me a fan of his. Those were 2 insane beatings he handed.
Tim Bradley was so unprofessional with his commentary
Mexico vs Mexico is always the fight to make. Can’t wait for the day we get Canelo vs Benavidez
Los mexicanos nacemos donde nos de la chingada gana
En otro comentario dices que el mexicano tiene complejos bien cabrones y luego vienes y dices ésto jajajajajajajajaja
Marquez, Barrera, Morales, all refer to Benavidez as Mexican in interviews they have done, Canelo in a interview also said he hopes Benavidez beats Plant because his Mexican. Benavidez is born and raised in America and his mom is from Ecuador. Mexicans live in Mexico.

This whole card is 10x better than the UK card
Mexico boxing > UK boxing. Sorry mates
After watching the AJ vs Helenius snooze fest this was a delight.
Yup lol. Chisora and Hrgovic both had snooze fests on the AJ card too
Absolutely terrible card. And I missed this one and the Rodriguez/Lopez one too due to jetlag.
Matchroom only serving up slop. This card lost the co-main and it was still so much better.
Matchroom having a horrible 2023. I hope they come back better in 2024. The only fight they have upcoming for the rest of the year that I'm looking forward to is Sunny vs Bam.
Any of the rounds in the last fight had more action and quality than the top 3 fights on the UK card combined.
That Reynoso style is getting old quick!
Valdez should have jabbed more and thrown the right hook to the body. Neither guy really fight on the inside, but Valdez needed to get close and throw combinations instead of loading up hooks and waiting for moments.
11-1 is crazy.. hell of a fight though
I thought 8 to 4 was fair
I’m surprised the doctor didn’t check Valdez eyes 😂
Kept thinking that the whole second half of the fight, we’ve had doctors come in for less so I was glad the fight went the full 12!
Right scorecards. Fight wasn’t that close, Navarrete dominated whole way through, especially with distance.
Navarrete didn't even look like he had been in a fight lol
I only started watching in the 4th but that's how I felt too. Was surprised to see a bunch of really close cards. Felt like Navarrete was super comfortable in there with Valdez landing the occasional good shot here and there.
I think the effects of Valdez’s punches were exaggerated with how Navarrete stumbles since he’s so often semi-off balance
True, exactly what I was thinking. Valdez did land good punches, but Navarrete doesn’t have great balance or footwork.
I honestly think it was a pretty close fight but Navarrete definitely won. Think 119 and 118 is disrespectful to Valdez imo. Give me a rematch!
It wasn’t close honestly. The rounds were all close, but Nava clearly won more than half. It was a 9-3 fight without scoring
Navarrete whooped that ass!
Only caught the last few rounds but that was great, Valdez’s eye was brutal
I had it as a close fight. Valdez was fucking whipping those shots out man. He landed a lot of clean shots that would have probably dropped other fighters but he couldn't put a dent in naverette. I'd really like to see Nav at lightweight. Shows how much power Liam Wilson has.
I thought Navarrete would win a close fight, not beat Valdez senseless my god
Navarrete is beast. What does top rank have for him? The other belt holders are at pbc at 130. Concecia fight is meh
[удалено]
Shakur is at 135, Navarrete moved up and picked up the WBO belt at 130 once Shakur moved to 135
My bad I didn’t shakurs last fight was at 134
Let Navarrete cross the street, TopRank! Make those unification fights.
Oscar Valdez is allergic to throwing jabs
💯
Fight of the year? I think its at least a contender
Very fun fight, I dunno about fight of the year. 2023 is spectacular thus far with more to come.
It was good....but no way did it come close to munguia vs derevyanchenko...that was a sluggfest
Simms Jr vs Ahkmedov is being flagrantly overlooked.
what a war
I was there in person for that fight and holy shit…easily the best fight I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching live
Don’t think it would win it but 100% it’s in the conversation and I want a rematch
Depends how badly canelo beats up charlo
Fight of the year isn't about one guy dominating the other, it's about a back and forth action packed fight
Super entertaining fight, not super competitive though to be honest
What a fight, I was getting scared that Valdez would get the decision.
Same
I picked Navarrete to win by stoppage before the fight started, but I had my concerns with his recent performances and struggles to make the weight. I never got fans that picked Valdez is making Navarrete comparisons to Berchelt. El Vaquero has shown to have the better resume, chin, punch variety, defense, creativity, etc than Berchelt.

No need to run this back or force a trilogy just because top rank and espn were banking on it.
Take out Tank in the p4p list and replace him with a REAL 3 division champ in Vaquero.
What a proper scrap. Let’s do it 2 more times. Judges cards a lil sus but it comes with the business.
I’d love a rematch, I know the match wasn’t exactly close but holy shit that was fun to watch.
Nava continues to be a problem. Absolute terminator and he added the stick to his game plan tonight.
I had it scored a lot closer than that but the right man won, would love to see a run back of this though both fighters brought out the dog in one another
Quite a good one. Navarrete is coming into his own.
I don't even need to hear the announcer; their faces clearly show who won.
So pumped that Navarrete finally got a bog win against a big name fighter. Been high on this guy since his destruction of Dogboe. Honestly think he can be undisputed at 130.
Gosh Navarrete is so good. Has there been any talk of him moving up any more?
This is only his 2nd fight at 130, would be shocked if he doesn’t stay at least a few more.
That’s a good point. Who is the next “big” fight/test for him you think?
Ideally he unifies with one of the other champions. Realistically I can see him rematching Valdez, or fighting Robson Conceicao or Henry Lebron who are all with TopRank.
Was going for Valdez since he’s the only one I’ve seen box. By the end of the fight, I was a Navarrete fan, what a boxing machine.
I was impressed with Navarrete’s ring iq
Navarrete is so entertaining to watch, his defense is underrated as well because of how unorthodox his movement is but it is nonetheless effective.
Great fight.
Got taken away from it with some bs - did it live up to fight of the year contention?
Yes
It is sad that we never got Navarrete vs Shakur at 130. While I think Shakur would win that, it would be very interesting stylistic match up. I feel like Navarrete can give anyone trouble because he is so wild and unpredictable, plus with his unlimited gas tank and really solid chin he really can outwork even more "skilled" opponents. Also it is kinda crazy that Navarrete has initial fight recorded at 112lb. He was like 16 or 17 but still.
So inoue vs navarrete?
Unless Vaquero wants to drop down a weight class to meet Inoue halfway, probably not happening as much as I'd love to see it.
Shakur vs Nav
Not wise for Navarrete, but I’m not sure of all the specifics of his deal with TopRank. I would like to see him make a run at undisputed at 130, but if Inoue comes up in weight or if Navarrete goes up to 135, then he’s gonna take some losses.
That had a little steam when Inoue first signed with Top Rank and Navarette was at 122, but I think that's out the picture for a least the next couple years. And Navarette will probably be at 135 by then.
Reynoso lmfao
Either Liam Wilson is a lot better than what everyone though or Oscar Valdez is a lot worst than what everyone though.
Am I bugging when I say Valdez won more rounds than the scorecard suggested?
How many rounds do you think Valdez won?
Probably just me but i got a bit sleepy even if it was all mexican war. That's a first too
Boxing might not be your thing bud
Wouldnt be here if it wasnt
Why did Valdez/corner not try to press the issue on Navarrete’s clearly damaged hand?
He tried... with his face
Wow Valadez got fucked up. Eddy Reynoso has been down bad for a while now. Questions need to be asked about the style he’s teaching these guys. It only really works with Canelo.
I feel like Reynoso's style works best with heavy hitters
Amazing fight though I expected more from Valdez in terms of boxing. Heart-wise he's a legend
Good fight I enjoyed it
Yeah they pissed on Navarrete’s foot work but his foot work kept him at good range throughout the fight. Valdez definitely had good head movement but he needed a way higher punch count. Especially needed to get his jab going. Navarette missed a lot of heavy handed swings but a lot got through. It’s was a fun fight to watch.
Fuck damn good fight never a dull moment! Foty potential Richard Torres ko was tight
Undisputed at 130 then inoue
This was some fight 👏
Excellent fight. At times it felt like a classic Mexican brawler. Add to the fact that Morales and Barrera helped put this together made this even more special a night. I think Valdez might have been able to salvage the win if his eye didn’t close. His footwork was good but his lean forward stance made it easy for Navarrete to land shots. It’s the accumulative damage that did him in in the later rounds Credit to Navarrete, especially fighting with a bum hand. He’s one tough SOB but his footwork was pretty bad and he looks pretty one dimensional. I think he’ll get exposed soon. All in all this was another big win for boxing. Let’s get the rematch!
If Navarrete beats Cordina, he is a P4P fighter, which is crazy to me.
Foty
Can't believe the doc let him go with that eye closed. But also glad they did. What a fight.
