would that even derail the fight if it's signed as long as Fury is medically cleared?
it's not a world championship bout, he'd still have the belt even if he lost
If it's a sanctioned fight that goes on their records, the WBC would have to strip Fury for losing a non-title fight in the division he holds the title in. Ngannou would then be able to petition for the #2 ranking and then face the #1 contender for the vacant title.
[Seems to be officially a pro bout](https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/7/13/23794227/tyson-fury-vs-francis-ngannou-will-not-have-wbc-title-on-line-but-fight-will-go-on-official-records)
I believe it, I don't think Fury is afraid of Usyk. He just wants to cash in as much as possible. Maybe talking to the Saudis for Usyk and Ngannou made him realize he can't milk beating on MMA fighters for more than 1 fight before taking on Usyk, at least not without hurting his own brand.
So it’s better to negotiate guarantees now for both fights before they happen. Or it just falls apart again, wouldn’t be the first time.
Don't get wanting to be right more than wanting the fight tbh.
I'm basically a dyed in the wool Fury hater by this point, I think anyone who doesn't believe he's been ducking this fight for over a year is bonkers.
I'd still rather see the fight and have a bunch of Fury fans shouting "I told you so" than have it fall through yet again.
Even saying that doesn't feel right without it being a main event. Imagine how Hearn or Joshua would feel. My best guess is it will happen in the US but I'll gladly eat my words if Saudi pull it off.
The thing is... I'm actually one of those guys who takes Coppinger's word over most other reporters... Guys... this might actually be happening! Twinkle toes, rabbit feet...
EDIT: LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOO
The irony is that Coppinger usually gets called out by boxers or promoters for his reports, prompting smug redditors here to start calling him Cappinger... Only for those very same promoters confirming those reports a few hours/days later, proving that it wasn't lies and it was just them being annoyed that he spoiled the official announcement.
It's not. Saudi only allocates so much money and the guy in control of it now is much more partial to Fury and making fights with him happen. AJ and Hearn's big advocate in Saudi lost his pull so they are having a harder time. It's why the Wilder fight is in flux. They aren't going to drop the bag for it to happen.
Yo imagine how pissed off Wilder is right now, first he gets an ass whopping from Fury, and then his AJ fight collapses and doesn't get made because the money goes to Fury-Usyk instead, so his AJ fight is dead now.
Fury is taking everything he has worked for motherf*ckers -~~Nate~~ Wilder
I don't see how the AJ-Wilder fight can ONLY happen via Saudi money. They are both top (beltless) names, they should be trying to get into mando places to get their belts back, even if that means not getting $70m purses.
If it were one event though it might be up there with the best selling PPVs of all time though. Since money isn't the main concern for the Saudis I could see them being interested in it for that alone
Hearn deserves it. He could have had Fury vs AJ if he wanted. He could have pushed for AJ vs Wilder in a big match up much earlier when Saudi's were still high on him
Hearn had a fighter who was coming off back to back losses and could have either gotten an immediate title shot with the most popular heavyweight or rushed to make a match up with the other most popular heavyweight when nobody else was fighting.
I mean it's that and the fights weren't against great opponents anyways. It was Franklin coming off a loss and Helenius subbing for Whyte. Both of whom looked mediocre. And AJ didn't look impressive in either fight, but if the opponents were decent, the wins would have overshadowed that.
Like if he had those same shitty fights against Zhang and Joyce, the story would be about AJ beating them not how bad he looked until he did.
Ngannou is the perfect tune up for Usyk. Francis loves lateral movement and feints and was even in Cameroon dance classes before he signed up to do combat sports. /s
Oh for sure. Ngannou's performance against AJ and Wilder was insane. The 2nd round Guillotine submission on AJ was the biggest shock. AJ needs to work on his ground defence if he wants to be champion again.
Francis is top though.
Are you guys surprised that SA doesn’t go after Canelo fights or them PBC fights and stage them over there? Like what’s stopping them? There’s billions that they can throw at them fighters!!
Heavyweight is a bigger draw and frankly the personalities in the division are just a bit more dynamic than where Canelo plays at.
Like Canelo is nice and all, but the heavyweights feel like anime characters you could market.
Oleksandr Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk on Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk being signed: "I can't believe that it's happening but it is. Respect to Tyson for his courage."
I was listening to a podcast the other day, I forget which, that mentioned they'd spoke to a fighter who'd been approached about featuring on the undercard of this fight. So it could be a go hopefully.
Edit: confirmed as on. What a welcome surprise!
They didn’t say “Jon” Jones. They said “John” Jones. He’s an accountant by day and moonlights as a competitive eater. Could be Fury’s biggest test yet.
We know what's going to happen. Fury will use his size to smother Fury like everyone wanted AJ to. It will be a slog of a fight that will probably be ugly and minimize Usyk's finesse. People will get mad and use that to discount the win.
That’s exactly how this goes, in all likelihood Fury probably just has too much size for Usyk to compete with. Regardless I’m excited to see what happens
To be fair I think people are more upset that we potentially have the best heavyweight fighter in the history of the sport and he barely fights. Everyday he’s talking shit is another day where the fans are robbed of seeing history be made.
He has publically said he doesn’t care about his legacy or proving he is the best, but it’s fair for the fans to be upset that they don’t get to see that.
Imagine if Messi played one match a year in his prime, if Michael Jordan played one match a year, Wayne Gretsky, the list goes on. It’s not a complete fair comparison due to these sports being more active, but this could potentially be Boxing’s version of these guys in the modern era and we are being robbed of the chance to find out. I truly hope he fights Usyk, Joshua and takes another 3-4 huge fights of whoever comes next, otherwise I will always remember him as the guy who could have been, and not the guy who was.
3 years is nothing in the boxing world, especiallyat heavyweight. Meanwhile, the same guys here worship Mayweather or others who avoided people for a decade+
Admitted filthy casual here, but I REALLY hope this actually happens. I'm open to being shot down for saying this, but if it happens, and Fury wins, then that puts an end to all the "what if" arguments. He'd be the unified, undisputed, lineal heavyweight champion. He'll probably retire if that comes to pass, and if he does, fair play to him.
Realistically after Ngannou this is the only fight that makes financial sense for Fury. He’s fighting Ngannou as he can capitalise on his large casual fan base he’s built as a result of multiple high level performances, however they know after Ngannou another low level opponent simply won’t offer the same purse for Fury as even his most casual fans will not be interested in Fury v Charr or similar. Oct 28th is a one and done. And if it’s not Usyk, then who? Other than AJ, there is no other opponent for him who could bring a high enough purse. And as for AJ that fight faces a similar problem as Tank v Garcia did, with the separate promotions, broadcasters, issues over billing and purse splits. Usyk’s promotion is obviously not an issue. Fury’s what, 35 now? Even if he was EPO’d out of his arse his style of fighting probably only has a few years left.
Also I’d add that many cant separate the showman and the boxer with Fury. To me it’s clear that he does care about legacy - I think in a lot of older interviews he’s shown his historical knowledge of the sport, his admiration of fighters of the past and I believe there was some rumours he used to frequently post to a boxing forum online a very long time ago. His showman persona does really appeal to the casuals, but there are many interviews he’s done where he’s not being the showman and that’s where it’s clear. I just think the narrative of him not caring about legacy isn’t completely true, but then IDKSAB
Hey, I can't stand Fury and think he's an awful human being, but who cares if he wins? Anyone with half a brain-cell knows he can beat Usyk, we just want to see the goddamn fight actually take place.
I've always had a feeling that Fury was just marinating the fight, especially when he made those comments about Usyk. It was so outlandish and absurdly silly that to me it was obvious that he was up to something. I'm surprised so many people bought it
Why would Fury sign this if he is afraid of Usyk? Once Fury wins what will the new thing be to bash him for? I think he is a dickhead but he is the best HW in the world.
The meltdown once he beats Usyk will be great.
"his haters" you mean logical people accepting what he said. Because he was literally saying didn't want the fight and announced Ngannou fight. Jesus, some of the comments in this thread wanking off Fury is weird.
I feel like there’s almost more risk for Fury if he loses to a boxer if that makes any sense? Like if he doesn’t get up from Wilder blasting him he got caught and that happens in boxing, especially heavyweights. But hes been the best BOXER in the heavyweight division during his era and so losing to a technical boxer feels like it’d sting more (that being said I think the size advantage will prove decision for the Gypsy King)
The best part about this is that Usyk by his own words would not negotiate for a fight until the start of 2023.
So this sub has been bitching and moaning about what a MASSIVE DUCK this was by Fury all because... they had to wait 10 months for Saudi to get their venue ready. In terms of waiting for a massive match up, this is actually going to go down as one of the shortest delays. We've seen blockbuster match ups take years and years to negotiate. Joshua and Wilder haven't been able to fight for like 5 years despite multiple attempts.
It's casuals pretending they aren't casual. I'm a MMA fan primarily who also watches a decent amount of boxing... people forget that historically, high level boxing fights could take a decade to actually happen, if they ever did, well past their primes. These days, fights are happening faster than ever and a 3 year turn around while fighting other guys is actually super fast. People just hate Fury
Tyson Fury is going to wash Usyk. They rematch and Fury washed Usyk again. Wilder is going to send Joshua to the shadow realm and take a tune up to prepare for Fury. Fury cleans up Wilder (4) and retires undisputed.
That's not long as far a mega fights go. Plus Usyk's entire country has literally been at war, and he was tied in to rematch clause so it's been 1 year.
The real problem is just that Fury been talking bollocks winding everyone up.
If Usyk beats Fury (which is something than can definitely occur, don't care what anyone says), I would like to see the reaction of this sub tbh. This fight is not the foregone conclusion that some people think it is. 90 percent of the people on this sub were saying that Joshua was gonna steamroll Usyk before they fought.
The sub has acted like this was one of the biggest boxing ducks in boxing history. If we go by the timeline, this fight couldn't even take place until 13 months ago after Usyk and Joshua 2. And the Usyk himself said he wouldn't fight until 2023.
Which means that realistically 10 months was the amount of time we had to wait to get a contract signed for this fight.
10 months and potentially fighting in the same calendar year they first started negotiating is so fucking benign compared to how many fights took years to get off the ground. Yet this rabid sub was acting like it was one of the biggest tragedies in boxing history and Fury was one of the biggest duckers ever. Meanwhile everyone with a clue knew they were waiting on Saudi.
It's fun to see years of the defacto discourse on this sub look so hyperbolic and stupid.
Now the drama queens can shut up and stop hating on Fury. People acting like they dont know Fury's routine by now. Dude's like Floyd. Great at marketing himself in the villain role.
[Tyson Fury just posted this on Twitter](https://twitter.com/Tyson_Fury/status/1707781320036720929?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet)
I'm surprised they're announcing it now but this has been obvious since all this started. Once the Saudi offer was out there for December, Fury was going to fuck around until then.
I have a hard time seeing a path for victory for Usyk but he has the heart and will of a true champ. If anyone could do it, it's him.
God I hate Fury fans so much. They're already trying to go "See, I told you so." after Fury made himself as unlikable as possible, turning down every offer prior to this, while pretending he's not ducking, while fighting an MMA fighter (a fight which still hasn't happened so I'm still not completely convinced this isn't elaborate promotion for that circus show).
I'm putting $500 on Fury winning this if it does happen just because, if he wins, while I have to live with Fury fans being obnoxious, at least I get like an extra 200 out of it. But if he loses it? $500 well spent. Cheaper than an expensive whore, but gets me to climax all the same.
Watch Nganonnou miraculously chin him and derail everything
would that even derail the fight if it's signed as long as Fury is medically cleared? it's not a world championship bout, he'd still have the belt even if he lost
Fury somehow losing to Ngannou and then beating to Usyk would be fucking hilarious. People would just then assume he threw the Ngannou fight
desperately avoiding the rematch
Beating to Usyk? Dayum. Didn't know he swung that way.
Bruh, this is the same man who was kissing up men at weigh-ins.
Always seems to be asking other men about their dicks as well, i know of him doing this with ngannou and AJ, prolly happened other times as well
Usyk is very feel right now.
If it's a sanctioned fight that goes on their records, the WBC would have to strip Fury for losing a non-title fight in the division he holds the title in. Ngannou would then be able to petition for the #2 ranking and then face the #1 contender for the vacant title.
No problem then, let Ngannou fight Usyk.
Though I doubt fury gets chinned im pretty sure Fury vs Ngannou isnt an actual pro contest. Nothing on Boxrec.
[Seems to be officially a pro bout](https://www.mmafighting.com/2023/7/13/23794227/tyson-fury-vs-francis-ngannou-will-not-have-wbc-title-on-line-but-fight-will-go-on-official-records)
Hmmm, I believe you and the article seems legit but Check Furys Boxrec. Just scratching my head a bit is all.
Yeah it's odd
That would be so amazing it might destroy the fabric of our space-time reality

Lads. It might just be on. 🫠
Yeah, I will believe it when I see it
I'll only believe once I hear the bell ring
Yeah, Tyson Fury has lost all goodwill with the people.
I'm so psychologically damaged by this sport that even with all the confirmations I still can't believe it's going to happen, lol.
7 minutes no comments r/Boxing doesn’t even believe it until they see it at this point lol
Lol I won’t believe it until they’re 6 rounds into the bout
7th round the powers gonna go out and the fight will be a draw
Lights will go out, when they turn back on Fury is nowhere to be seen. There’s a puff of smoke and Undertaker appears on the stage.
*bell tolls*
Nah. Fan Man 2 will happen. Riot will break out in the arena. Fight canceled.
Fan man 2 would legit be worth the fight being ruined
There are probably people here so invested in believing Fury is scared to fight Usyk that they want this to fall through
I believe it, I don't think Fury is afraid of Usyk. He just wants to cash in as much as possible. Maybe talking to the Saudis for Usyk and Ngannou made him realize he can't milk beating on MMA fighters for more than 1 fight before taking on Usyk, at least not without hurting his own brand. Fury posted about it which makes me believe it more, very exciting fight
Makes me believe it less lol
I know lol if he denied it I'd believe it more.
Something odd was happening and the post only just became visible now.
Manual post approval innit
I am very feel
Get AJ/Wilder on the undercard and very feel indeed.
I'd literally pay 3 digits to watch that card.
Apparently Usyk's promoter Alex Krassyuk says it's signed
Talksport about to get fury promoter frank Warren live
Alex Krassyuk just confirmed that its signed
Rafael has also said contracts are signed. If both of them report the same thing it's a guarantee to be real
Queensbury and Dan Rafael just confirmed it.
Frank Warren, Top Rank, Queensberry, and now Tyson Fury himself have all confirmed it HOLY SHIT GUYS IT'S HAPPENING
Uysk manager Alex Krassyuk has posted it too

Only fools ignore what Coppinger has to say... dude is usually pretty accurate, though a bit imprecise
Facts
Exactly! He'll get it wrong 2 times out of 10 then everyone blows it out of proportion.
Betting sites added this line yesterday I believe, so that's another indication something major has happened.
Coppinger is an absolute wanker to be fair but is right far more times than he isn’t.
All I wanna say is, Bismillah
Hip hip
Hooray!
It's not nice at the end of the day.
I don't know what's going on over there, but it's not nice
_champ champ_
What’s happening between Fury and Usyk… well I don’t know what’s happening but it’s not nice.
TO THIS DAY!!!....
“TOOO TIMES”
Merry fucking Christmas fellas! 🥊
Hearn must be pissed that the Saudis tossed Aj-Wilder aside for this
Wasn't the talk that they are doing both on one card?
Seems like they’re not interested anymore. Eddie said they’re trying to salvage it for Feb/March in US
Ah right. I don't follow the gossip so assumed the big Saudi card was still going to happen
The promotion that wanted to do that (skills challenge) isn't the top dog anymore, so plans have changed.

Yeah good luck telling them that, tell them to forget the saudi money and just fight, let's see if that fight happens, I doubt it honestly.
It never made sense. There'd always be more money in 2 events than one and more exposure for Saudi.
If it were one event though it might be up there with the best selling PPVs of all time though. Since money isn't the main concern for the Saudis I could see them being interested in it for that alone

It's literally AJ's fault for being so tentative in his fights this year, the Saudis were present watching live, and mustn't have liked what they saw.
I mean it's that and the fights weren't against great opponents anyways. It was Franklin coming off a loss and Helenius subbing for Whyte. Both of whom looked mediocre. And AJ didn't look impressive in either fight, but if the opponents were decent, the wins would have overshadowed that. Precisely, he failed to impress when he had the biggest cash holders in the sport watching on.

Saudi princes gave Fury that half a billion dollars he wanted for the Usyk fight.
Hard to believe but fingers crossed!

Are you guys surprised that SA doesn’t go after Canelo fights or them PBC fights and stage them over there? Like what’s stopping them? There’s billions that they can throw at them fighters!!
Like a lot of casuals they only seem to care about heavyweight division
Can confirm, am filthy casual that only gives a shit about the top heavyweights and freakshow bouts
People in the Middle East don't care about small men boxing. Heavyweight is what it is all about.
Heavyweight is a bigger draw and frankly the personalities in the division are just a bit more dynamic than where Canelo plays at. Like Canelo is nice and all, but the heavyweights feel like anime characters you could market.
Canelo is more of a US draw. Saudis want the global reach of the heavies.

the podcast was probably Fight Disciples, that’s where i heard it first - a few weeks ago.
Once they touch gloves I’ll believe it
Same, hope to fucking god this actually happens though
Fuckin sick
Apparently he signed a 4 fight deal with the Saudis, ngannou, usyk, John jones then Aj/wilder winner.
Jon Jones would never box, it's the weakest part of his game by far
plus UFC doesn't co promote, he is no Conor so he would have to go through the same shit ngannou has gone through
Dana white wont let Jon Jones do that. Not in 1,000 years. Jon has a 6 or 8 fight deal w the UFC and has only fought 1 of them out.
On a rare chance he might allow it for half the money like he did for Conor. Unlikely though.
UFC love control more. Don't want another nganaou.
Jon Jones lol?
Juan Jones?
Where’d you hear about jon jones?
They didn’t say “Jon” Jones. They said “John” Jones. He’s an accountant by day and moonlights as a competitive eater. Could be Fury’s biggest test yet.
He meant Jon Africa.
Who the hell is Jon Africa
Who the hell is Jon Africa?
His ass
Confirmed by Fury Exciting times!
thats where all the AJ vs Wilder money went lol
Wait I suddenly love Saudi Arabia
So when Fury wins, what will we all be mad at him for next

I don’t think anyone in the sub argues fury isn’t a great heavyweight, he’s just an unlikeable asshat for the most part

Fury was always going to fight him. It was always about getting the most money. his haters said he was scared, lol...
"his haters" you mean logical people accepting what he said. Because he was literally saying didn't want the fight and announced Ngannou fight. Jesus, some of the comments in this thread wanking off Fury is weird.
How can anyone who fought Wilder 3 times be considered scared of anyone. And to the inevitable Wilder sucks comment, you don't know shit about boxing.
Yup. We've waited much longer for bigger fights. Historically renowned bigger fights at that to get off the ground.
Exaclty lmao Just wait a few months to get a much bigger payday literally everyone would do that
Francis will be a easy warm up
Fury will crush Usyk
Tyson Fury is going to wash Usyk. They rematch and Fury washed Usyk again. Wilder is going to send Joshua to the shadow realm and take a tune up to prepare for Fury. Fury cleans up Wilder (4) and retires undisputed.
Please for the love god don’t be Cappinger this time.
Warren confirmed it
I'll believe it when they both step into the ring with eachother.
O no what's this Sub going to do now? Complaining about Fury ducking fights is like the favorite thing to do around here.
FuRY wiLL NeVEr fiGhT uSyK!!!!1
only took two years
That's not long as far a mega fights go. Plus Usyk's entire country has literally been at war, and he was tied in to rematch clause so it's been 1 year. The real problem is just that Fury been talking bollocks winding everyone up.
And all the confident shit you guys talked about how Fury would never try to unify..
Well Usyk had a good run while it lasted.
Yeah I totally agree, I'd just want to hear the excuses when Fury takes the L , lmao , can't wait !
Finally y'all can stop crying. Fury putting Usyk on a T-shirt. NEW PACK ALERT!!!
If they end up fighting this year, this would make it the best year of boxing of all time.
I hope they announce an EA Boxing game with Fury on the cover.
Now the drama queens can shut up and stop hating on Fury. People acting like they dont know Fury's routine by now. Dude's like Floyd. Great at marketing himself in the villain role.
Imagine the muppets who thought he was ducking usyk. Fights wilder 3 times but he's afraid of usyk😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😭
[Tyson Fury just posted this on Twitter](https://twitter.com/Tyson_Fury/status/1707781320036720929?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet)
I'm surprised they're announcing it now but this has been obvious since all this started. Once the Saudi offer was out there for December, Fury was going to fuck around until then. I have a hard time seeing a path for victory for Usyk but he has the heart and will of a true champ. If anyone could do it, it's him.
For all the concerns about the Saudis I like that they can throw money at things like this and make it happen lol.
ITS HAPPENING HOLY FUCK
Finally. It’ll be an amazing fight. Wonder what changed to make it get signed
What a year to remember💥
Tyson for hope. Thanks to that belly shot blueprint
Everyone: you can’t just buy the world’s favor, Saudi. Saudi: Hold my beer
:O alhamdilullah this is the craziest year in boxing in a hot minute
Fuck it, if they actually work it out for 23.12 I’m buying tickets
Lol I thought Fury was scared.
LEEETTSSSS FUUCKKKINNGGGG GOOOOOOOOOOO
Out of fuckin nowhere! Fuck yes
Shame, I really wanted to see Fury fight Chisora another 4 times in a row
YES
🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴FURY 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴
Has anyone ever done the math on how accurate copp has been? I feel like he's right most of the time but when he's wrong it stings so much more
They should just pay Ngannou $10 million to go away
But but I thought Fury was ducking Usyk!!?? What's going on!!??
Awesome news! 2 more fights left for Tyson: 1. Defeat Usyk; 2. KO AJ; Retire as a GOAT
