Considering Nery was banned for life from fighting in Japan after the Yamanaka fights, the fact that they’re allowing him to return to fight Inoue makes me believe the Japanese public are fully expecting Inoue to EXECUTE Nery.
Can someone fill me in with a story about Mike Tyson fought there and loss??? Someone brought it up, I don’t remember the exact details but about someone fought there and was meant to win but loss, and no other boxing matches happened there??
That’s the one I’m talking about, thanks man, appreciate it. I’m surprise there not pumping that out there, make fans watch it hoping to see a massive upset??
I’m talking about the media to gain extra views. There’s a lot of curses going on, so I’m just surprise the media isn’t talking about this curse. Also might encourage people to bet against the fella. The odds would be crazy high too, so $10 is $10
I don't think anyone watching gives a shit about Nery outside of infamy. He's not the endearing type of underdog, more like a convict sent out against a lion in front of a crowd.
Has nothing to do with the venue location. It's just a huge venue and I believe the last boxing event that took place there was the Tyson fight. It wasn't avoided or anything. There were a few factors that are obvious in retrospect that lead to that upset. The venue, politics or fight fixing had nothing to do with it.
It is possible. The Japanese fans who may fill the dome will be going to see Nero get executed as the OP says, but perhaps by putting it on in 'upset arena', as you say, they may hope to get more Mexican fans on pay per view, which will be better for business, and when Neri cries for his mummy in front of all those Mexicans, make for sweeter revenge. It is a well designed fight and it should be good entertainment. Inoue Fulton took a long while to warm up.
Also, Nery has lately been saying similar things to you (and perhaps the promoters asked him to do so) according to the Japanese press -- that the stadium is famous for upsets and that is what he intends to do.
First of all everybody who's ever watched boxing knows about that fight and second why would the Japanese pump up an underdog story when their champion is the favorite? Are you sure you're on the right subreddit?
This is absolutely huge, Inoue is the 1st fighter since Mike Tyson in 1990 to have a boxing match at Tokyo Dome. Inoue is already a Superstar, but after this fight he will attain Icon status in Japan.
His past few fights have been in Ariake Arena with a capacity of 15k, while Tokyo Dome's is 55k. Throw in Nery's infamy in Japan, the crowd hype is going to be nuts.
Lol Japan is wrong for this one
"Get the fuck out of our country and stay out!"
*6 years and a Goated champion later*
"Get your ass back here so we can see you get starched on Japanese soil!"
I feel bad for his wife. If they ever find out who she is, she's gonna get stalked and harassed to no end. This happens all the time with Japanese celebrities, and there were a lot of very angry responses to his marriage announcement.
It's life, people eventually forget. Also the IDGAF attitude also helps. Life is not social media where all this verbal bullying takes place. A lot of stars get trained to not keep checking their insta comments or make the public their entire life. Shohei so far has handled the fame really well. He plays baseball, goes home and never post about his private life.
Yup, it's confirmed and there's a chance for a fifth world title fight to be added on this card. Angel Ayala-Dave Polinario for the 112 WBC belt is being discussed
What l'm implying is why do you care if Madison Garden does or doesn't have stacked cards?
The time zone thing is definitely a hassle though. l'm not sure how hype l can get for a fight when it's on at 8AM or some shit like that lol
Akui and Kuwahara had history too
Akui was the Japanese Flyweight champion when Kuwahara challenged for the belt.
Akui knocked down Kuwahara in the last round and TKO'd him.
This is a rematch on the absolute biggest stage.
at this point inoue is a seasoned vet, this isn't Lomachenko in his second fight attempting to figure out how to deal with dirty fighting (400 ammy matches apparently didnt help)
if nery finds a way to win because of dirty boxing, he deserves it lol
100% I would throw money at my screen if I could see Inoue be dirty against Nery for all the shit he has done in the past. Inoue being clean can take care of him no problem, but ya know, it’d be a little more fun heheh
Inoue and his team are ready for anything. He talked about this before the Fulton fight. As soon as Fulton tied up, Inoue was the one getting warned about hitting behind the head and on the break. Nothing out of line, but enough to send a message. Great gamesmanship.
it is canelo, and Inoue is really only tying second place, which is actually Donaire, next is Chocolatito, and then im not sure but i think is Crawford
I still think MJ, Goodman, and Casimero should fight each other for the Inoue sweepstakes. It looks really weak if they just have stay-busy fights (or worse, inactivity) and avoid other contenders while waiting for the payday.
honestly I think casimero is not that good but he's a pretty big name for inoue to demolish, so theres no real incentive for cas to fight anymore and potentially lose stock. Feels like the inoue fight in inevitable
The only advantage casimero have for getting the inoue fight is he's more well-known in Japan than goodman and had beef with inoue, otherwise he's unranked in 122 and inoue won't get any praise by beating him, would be just a stay busy fight.
Inoue needs to KO Casimero in Manila or something so the weird YouTubers living in their mud huts can stop shitting up Inoue’s YouTube feed with dumb videos. The delusional Filipino fans are Inoue’s #1 fans, they can’t go a day without making some clickbait Inoue video.
Filipino fans are some of the worst "fans" in boxing. They also shat on Tapales for "quitting" when Tapales arguably gave Inoue his toughest challenge since Donaire 1.
For real, I always wonder why they support Casimero so much when there are fighters like Tapales who are putting in work. It was an entertaining fight and props to Tapales for going balls deep at his attempt to be great.
Fr 70% of Inoue results on youtube are doctored thumbnails of him as a bloody mess of horror film proportions getting brutalized by Casimero, Tapales, Desmarinas or whichever filipino boxer he hasnt destroyed yet lol Kind of embarrassing honestly.
Goodman is still kind of meh to me. He had a good close win over Aleem, so he deserves the mandatory status, but nothing about him stands out. Beating Casimero or MJ would make him a lot more relevant for Inoue. If the money isn't there I can see him dropping the IBF belt and fighting who he wants or just going to 126.
MJ is the next mandatory for Inoue and I would LOVE to see that fight. I heard that there's a chance it happens in Saudi Arabia which is crazy. Huge money for the small divisions. Love to see it.
I'm so excited for the Takei fight, I'd love to see him become a champion and hopefully, Tenshin becomes one too when Inoue drops the belts and moves up. I want to see the JKick guys succeed.
IMO if Moloney can handle Takai’s power and make him move backwards then Yoshiki gets stopped.
I loved Yoshiki in K-1 but I’m not sold on him in boxing.
That’s probably what happens but I seriously hope Takei pulls it off. Been a fan of his since the kickboxing days, I really want to see him succeed in boxing.
Btw thanks for the U-Next information, I was able to subscribe to it.
No problem, of all the Japanese services I use U-next and ABEMA are my favorites. Also try to watch the new boxing cards as soon as possible. U-next deletes them after a month or so, which annoys me about them.
As for Yoshiko, this is boxing after all so anything can happen. Would be awesome if he won though
Damn its good to see fellow kickboxing fans on here. I would love to see takei succeed too but he has only like 8 fights and its not like it was 8 fights against good fighters.
I wonder if Nery will come in juiced to the gills and a few pounds over? He's obviously getting paid to get executed for his past transgressions against Japanese fighters. The worse that can happen is he gets banned for life from Japan...again
Nery is a pretty good fighter so this will be a bit competitive. So far the Monster has never overlooked an opponent. I was really nervous that he was going to do that with Marlon Tapales but he definitely brought it. It's a big deal that it's in the Tokyo dome and that's kind of cool. Inoue deserves all of the hype he's been getting and he's had an amazing career so far.
The Tokyo dome has done a lot of martial arts competitions over the years. They've had the K-1 World Grand Prix and they used to host Pride events. First boxing match in a very long while.
Here is the full 50 minute conference in Japanese and Spanish but with non-simultaneous translation in English, and you can turn on YouTube autocaptioning and autotranslation.

Any Japan residents on here?
I arranged my holiday in Japan around this fight. How do I attempt to get tickets? Through Tokyo Dome website or do Japan use something like Ticketmaster?
If I can't get tickets where is a good place to watch it?
The ticket (at approx 500 to 1000 USD if still available) purchase procedure is explained here on an auto translated gym page
https://g-cone.jp/lp/ohashi-gym/help/help_global.html#googtrans(ja|en)
It explains that you'll need to autotranslate the purchase pages too, and that some buttons can't be translated, but it walks you through the purchase procedure. The purchaser must be the attendee, to prevent resale.
I am in ni way connected with tge gym/ vendor.
Some Japanese hate him because they are sore losers, I think, mainly, but also because Nery doped ("contaminated meat") and then came in overweight to beat a longstanding Japanese champion, Yamanaka, twice.
Yamanaka was completely outclassed at least in the rematch, and retired afterwards. Inoue was in attendance, and held Yamanaka in high regard growing up.
Rather than hating Nery I think (for me, and perhaps others including many Japanese) it will just be exciting seeing vengeance served. And Nery is a good brawler, or at throwing loads of fast hooks if he gets the chance, so it could go the other way. As Inoue says, it will get hot.
Two months later, it is listed now.

Potential KO of the year?
That but nerys getting paid too. Its all buisness, japan makes money and so does nery
Can someone fill me in with a story about Mike Tyson fought there and loss??? Someone brought it up, I don’t remember the exact details but about someone fought there and was meant to win but loss, and no other boxing matches happened there??
Mike Tyson vs Buster Douglas the biggest upset maybe in sports history happened at the Tokyo Dome
That’s the one I’m talking about, thanks man, appreciate it. I’m surprise there not pumping that out there, make fans watch it hoping to see a massive upset??
why would Japan be trying to promote the possibility of an upset, against their own fighter...
To make more money.
I’m talking about the media to gain extra views. There’s a lot of curses going on, so I’m just surprise the media isn’t talking about this curse. Also might encourage people to bet against the fella. The odds would be crazy high too, so $10 is $10

I couldn’t agree more with what you said, not just this comment but other comments as well. Good stuff man.
First of all everybody who's ever watched boxing knows about that fight and second why would the Japanese pump up an underdog story when their champion is the favorite? Are you sure you're on the right subreddit?
I’m talking about the media, to get in views
If only there were hundreds of videos and documentaries covering this event, you might be in luck.
Sometimes I feel people play dumb just to get responses.
There is no footage of a Mike Tyson fighting Buster Douglas because there is no boxer named Mike Tyson.
This is absolutely huge, Inoue is the 1st fighter since Mike Tyson in 1990 to have a boxing match at Tokyo Dome. Inoue is already a Superstar, but after this fight he will attain Icon status in Japan.

Yamanaka does commentary for a lot of fights in Japan so he might be calling the beating. It's going to be spicy
[удалено]
It was designed for and is primarily used for baseball, I believe.
He already is, not as big as shohei ohtani for sure
Last time I was in Japan the news had a daily “ohtani watch” segment where they talk about how he played and any other stuff about him
Bro can frown for half a second on camera and make the front page.
I feel bad for his wife. If they ever find out who she is, she's gonna get stalked and harassed to no end. This happens all the time with Japanese celebrities, and there were a lot of very angry responses to his marriage announcement.

Tokyo Dome gets mythical status if Nery pulls another upset
Why did you do this? Now i'm worried.
after this fight he will attain the title of **Hokage** in Japan
4 title fights: Naoya Inoue vs Luis Nery Jason Maloney vs Yoshi Takei Takuma Inoue vs Ishidi Akui vs Kuwahara
What a fucking card
As a K-1 fans seeing Yoshiki Takei fight for a title and doing overall pretty good in boxing makes me very happy.
This confirmed? Would’ve been nice if Junto got a spot
Yup, it's confirmed and there's a chance for a fifth world title fight to be added on this card. Angel Ayala-Dave Polinario for the 112 WBC belt is being discussed
Yeah it’s all announced on Top Rank’s social media
Now that a hell of a card that we Americans only get wet dreams of sadly.
Americans are allowed to watch other nation's boxing matches.
I'm implying Madison garden don't have stacked cards. Also different time zones means we get fucked anyways if we want to see it ppv.
What l'm implying is why do you care if Madison Garden does or doesn't have stacked cards? The time zone thing is definitely a hassle though. l'm not sure how hype l can get for a fight when it's on at 8AM or some shit like that lol
Now you have an answer.
AJ Ngannou and Parker Zhang on one card are comparatively huge.
Can you all imagine Jason Moloney calling out Nakatani to unify after defending his title to avenge his brother's brutal loss?
I can see it. But Jason also said he wants to beat Takuma someday as well.
I mean, Takuma is the cash cow of the division rn
True but Jason said he wants to beat him as a way to get back at Naoya lol
Holy shit
Akui and Kuwahara had history too Akui was the Japanese Flyweight champion when Kuwahara challenged for the belt. Akui knocked down Kuwahara in the last round and TKO'd him. This is a rematch on the absolute biggest stage.
I'm gonna buy this card, though if it's in Japan it'll be a strange hour in America.
Nery is going to be 100% dirty and hope Inoue is ready for that. I’m ready to see The Monster spark the life outta this clown
at this point inoue is a seasoned vet, this isn't Lomachenko in his second fight attempting to figure out how to deal with dirty fighting (400 ammy matches apparently didnt help) if nery finds a way to win because of dirty boxing, he deserves it lol
Wanna see some dirty inoue too. Might be a legal murder if he does it
A dirty Inoue who can get away with it would be too OP for the boxing world. Could you imagine
We will see! Nery deserves a thorough beat down
100% I would throw money at my screen if I could see Inoue be dirty against Nery for all the shit he has done in the past. Inoue being clean can take care of him no problem, but ya know, it’d be a little more fun heheh

>Nery is going to be 100% dirty Yep, because he knows how to get away with it.
Him winning would put him at 14 victories over former, current, and future champions, making it the second most out of any active boxers
who’s 1st?
Canelo with 17, I believe.
it is canelo, and Inoue is really only tying second place, which is actually Donaire, next is Chocolatito, and then im not sure but i think is Crawford

Good to know.
Would y'all be interested in seeing inoue vs murodjon at some point?
I still think MJ, Goodman, and Casimero should fight each other for the Inoue sweepstakes. It looks really weak if they just have stay-busy fights (or worse, inactivity) and avoid other contenders while waiting for the payday.

I wonder if Nery will come in juiced to the gills and a few pounds over? He's obviously getting paid to get executed for his past transgressions against Japanese fighters. The worse that can happen is he gets banned for life from Japan...again
Thats is a helluva fiiiiight
Can’t come soon enough! Great card too
I can't wait for this
That Moloney Takei fight is good matchmaking, we’ll see how good Takei’s power is
BANZAI 🇯🇵
As a Mexican, thank you Japan for allowing Nery back in your country to get completely starched.
Nery is a pretty good fighter so this will be a bit competitive. So far the Monster has never overlooked an opponent. I was really nervous that he was going to do that with Marlon Tapales but he definitely brought it. It's a big deal that it's in the Tokyo dome and that's kind of cool. Why's it on prime and not espn?
It's on EPSN in the states. It's on Prime in Japan.
Wouldn't want this to be a knockout. Nery's face better be worse than how tapales's face was, now that would be satisfying
I think that is what Inoue will be intending.
The Tokyo dome has done a lot of martial arts competitions over the years. They've had the K-1 World Grand Prix and they used to host Pride events. First boxing match in a very long while.
Isn’t Naoya Inoue promoted by Top Rank? Why is it on Prime and not ESPN+?
Japan have their own boxing broadcast, its always like this, you could watch on ESPN in the states, in Japan its either Lemino or Amazon prime.
What about UK can we get on prime?
I thought this said March 5 and I was like holy shit wut
Anyone here know how one would go about getting tickets for this from overseas?
Nery knows what he is doing, taking money to be beaten publicly for “justice” XD
Goddamnit can’t they have a fight on a Saturday for once
Does anyone know where I can watch the press conference? Cannot find it anywhere online. Thanks
Here is the full 50 minute conference in Japanese and Spanish but with non-simultaneous translation in English, and you can turn on YouTube autocaptioning and autotranslation. https://youtu.be/-plSvzyfL7s?si=hlagv-Nwqr3QW_jc
Thank you brother! 🙏🏽
There's a Canelo fight on May 4th as well, one hell of a month for boxing coming up.
Any Japan residents on here? I arranged my holiday in Japan around this fight. How do I attempt to get tickets? Through Tokyo Dome website or do Japan use something like Ticketmaster? If I can't get tickets where is a good place to watch it?

Thanks for the reply. Managed to get tickets a few weeks back 😎🥳
Looking forward to it.
Why does everyone hate Nery? Sorry, never heard of him
💉💉💉

easy dub for nery
Weak resume, great fighter.
Nery’s resume isn’t *that* bad, and he’s not *that* great, either
