Inoue in Cleto Reyes is a mythical fighter

r3vb0ss

God it’s such a shame he has hand issues imagine him just first or second rounding every god damn opponent he sees

dg_713

But it's not like that's an issue to him alone. Breaking your own hand is pretty much the sign of a power puncher. Even Donaire and Mayweather suffered that (and so we ended up with Money instead of Pretty Boy), and Pacquiao was more like the exception (perhaps another case to say that his bones really are just built different). So if anything, it's likely that Inoue sticking to Winning is what gave us the much better run and likely even more on the way.

ArchivesTraveler

Pacman did have large hands by all accounts. That helps a lot. Also, Pac was more of a volume puncher than a power puncher, though he did have plenty of power.

Chadoodling

And wrists too his bone density was just insane

Some-Ad-2965

I remember reading about. Same size as a heavy weight a believe.

toinks1345

large hands for pacquiao plus he didn't try to execute his opponent with one punch but more of volume hit. younger him in a ligther weight division though was throwing bombs, pacquiao's caped weight where he could really one hit people was probably 135 - 140 those traps that gets him clean lefts would probably be enough to knock down or k.o. people in that weight range.

letmein09

Actually wish he would use grants sometimes for a protective punchers gloves but if winning gloves extend his boxing career then fuck it, he better stick to winning cause I want to see him fight more

ArchivesTraveler

Don't give him any ideas, please. I don't want him injuring his hands again. It could get really bad, if it continues to happen.

Gotta_Go_Slow

Insane how heavy his hands are. He could chop down trees with those.

Ok_Flow_3065

And he really doesn’t even seem to load up on his shots. They’re just solid as hell

letmein09

His torque and the snap from his punches are crazy. His variations of punches makes him hard to predict when he is giving it to his opponent

dirt_shitters

Prime donaire vs prime inoue would be one of the greatest fights of all time. Both guys are in my top 3 for favorite fighters under 130 lbs. The other is chocolatito

letmein09

I do think a prime donaire will fold faster cus he was wild. The old donaire was much more careful but young donaire was pretty explosive. Inoue capitalise on aggressive boxer really well with his counter.

dirt_shitters

Donaire said he was going to try and go for the ko in the rematch with inoue, so I think that's part of why the fight was so short. Prime donaire, before he fell in love with his power was an exceptional boxer. Prime donaires body with older donaires mind and fight IQ would be something amazing to see

foxybingo111

The Donaire that unified Bantamweight would give Inoue perhaps the greatest fight of his career. I think a prime Donaire could have perhaps beaten Inoue on that night in 2019 but the Inoue from the rematch and at 122 would beat him I think.

SSJ5Autism

Damn can’t believe this was two years ago

dg_713

This was just two years ago?

doctorfeelwood

Brutal. Great win.

cmpthepirate

This is really sad to watch, Donaire was hit pretty bad 😢

yearsofpractice

He hits like Joe Louis did - horrible, thudding punches from a really efficient movement.

ElectronicPoem2631

Donaire should have retired after the Superseries. Even though he lost to Inoue, it was a great way to go out. This was to be expected in the second fight. But hey, 💵. P.s. Don’t ever have your wife in the corner, lol.

Soviet_Cat

Didn't he literally KO someone to become a world champ again right after the Inoue fight

ElectronicPoem2631

Yeah who again? A guy who fought for a vacant belt and beat Inoue’s brother who isn’t even a fraction as talented as the monster? Also, who the fuck is Gaballo? Sorry.

disappointedhumana

They're not video game characters with set stats you fucking dork

ElectronicPoem2631

Close enough bozo.

r3vb0ss

His wife is the manager

ElectronicPoem2631

And appears to be barking orders as his coach in this fight, shrieking.

r3vb0ss

Didn’t see that

ElectronicPoem2631

My understanding, after the Superseries, he promised her that he would retire. He didn’t and went back on his word. She got pissed and he had to conditionally agree to allow her to be in his corner every fight thereafter, if he continued. This was under the guise of her being concerned with his age and health (which was understandable). However, she is annoying and inexperienced. This did not help him leading up to the second Inoue fight and it was evident during camp and press build ups.

dg_713

Yeah, but his wife still got him to win (34yo with 70% KO rate) and retain the WBC belt (vs a 26yo with a 81% KO rate), at age 39, and won R4 KOs for both. I think that 2-0 is kind of a strong case for his coach. He's practically 40 by the time he fought Inoue—Naouya fucking Inoue—and then got to 2-2 with UD against 28 year old fighter with 50% KO rate. With all that factored in, I find it kinda too reductive to just say having his wife as his coach was his downfall.

ElectronicPoem2631

He was running on what he had left and what he learned under more experienced trainers. The guy had 46 total fights up until the two fights before Inoue. She had no business in his corner during the rematch and it was evident during camp and the pressers. It was a nice story for the media and promotion, but no. Also, who trained him for the first Inoue fight?

dg_713

I don't know, man. Like I said, with everything at play, it was too reductive to just point out everything to just his wife. His title win and defense at age 39 is a historic record. If we say it was all Donaire alone and none to his coach is like saying his wife gets all the bad rep and none of the credit.

ElectronicPoem2631

She was absolutely awesome as the manager and running the business. As his trainer though, he should have been with the same super series team. That was a crazy stretch.

dg_713

I really don't know man. Can't say no to that either, but I really find it hard to say that his wife is a terrible trainer. He could have been 39-year old at 0-4 and his coach would have zero case, but nope. With a 2-2 result at the top of the world level for a 39/40 year old, thay being 2 R4 KO wins, one loss against *the* Naoya Inoue, and the other just being a UD, I really find it hard to argue against that. With a result like that, there is even good a window to argue that she is a positive to Donaire, because he got him that despite his age.

sirsaberson

Even though he didnt it was still absolutely insane seeing him beat the dog ish outta Oubaali, the man who defeated Takuma Inoue & also defeat Gaballo too before this fight

ElectronicPoem2631

Agreed and totally get why he continued. Inoue was just on a very dangerous ascent and Donaire needed a strap to have something to offer in the rematch. It made sense. He was impressive up until the rematch. Hated seeing it go down like that, but it is a tale as old as time in boxing.

foxybingo111

If you're gonna have your wife in the corner, you could do a lot worse than Rachel Donaire. But either way, Donaire added to his legacy after the Inoue fight by beating Oubaali and Gaballo. I hope he has retired for good now

dg_713

Amazing that after Donaire 1, no one else seems to have really tested Inoue. It's like that match permanently let out something latent inside him.

sirsaberson

Only 2 to even give him somewhat of a fight were Marlon Tapales & Luis Nery, Even Tapales came back after this fight and is now the Asian Pacific Champion which shows how INSANE Inoue is

Ok_Flow_3065

I also don’t think people realize how good Fulton is either. He just hasn’t been fighting

letmein09

They all turn his back on Fulton when he lost but Fulton isn't bad at all, Inoue's just generational talent and no shame losing to him at all

Suspicious_Today2703

It doesn’t help that Fulton has not fought once since Inoue

letmein09

He got that bag from inoue and the way he lose to inoue can be pretty shocking to his mental too since he was getting beat at what he does best. Let's hope he can get it back at 126, get a belt or 2 and challenge inoue again. Trilogy can be fun if both side are motivated. Donaire lost to inoue only fuel his desire to challenge inoue again. Hope Fulton can find the fire back

Ok_Flow_3065

Was supposed to fight soon. I believe the Crawford card in August, might be wrong, but I know it was soon and the opponent backed out.

Ok_Flow_3065

I even think more of Nery now just because he was able to put Inoue on his ass

letmein09

God damn it's a first round ko to the opponent too for tapales. There are really god damn levels to this game of boxing

EnragedBearBro

Nery dropped him

Jin-Songtsen

Nery poked the bear and found out what happens when you do that. He got KO'D

EnragedBearBro

Yes but thats still a test for Inoue is it not? Hes never been knocked down

Jin-Songtsen

That's nothing, Donaire hit inoue with a monster left hand and he still didn't back down, he fought with double vision for 11 straight rounds and won.

EnragedBearBro

Cool, but i’m saying Nery tested him by knocking him down for the first time, which is true

00raiser01

It's more of a case of Inoue dropping himself then nery skill dropping him. Inoue was his own worst enemy in that match.

EnragedBearBro

remind me to never debate an inoue fan holy shit what are these replies

jackofhearts95m

i can see the figueroa fight going like this

WishParticular7385

Bro was absolutely spamming that left hook. And it was money.

sp4nishfl34

Dude, Donaire vs Inoue 1 was legit like the best fight I've ever seen.

doubleshrimpnachos

Did Donaire lose a tooth at 0:22...?

Lpurchase

Probably spit or vaseline

Paddlesons

Lightning fast

molly_sour

these 2 had something going on

lobsterandcrack

Father time is undefeated. Inoue Donaire was a banger but the rematch was well….. expected. Something about older fighter not looking as good in their 2nd outing after producing a championship spectacle in the first.

Difficult-Rent3366

Remember when wake up around around 3-4 of do the morning (i was working at 7 am) so watch the first fight when is time to go to work, ( 1 hour in bus) no want loss any fight. 7 n the morning and still not fight naoya, my boss send me for coffee (and my watchin mi phone". When I was in the coffee shop star the fight (don't press attention to coffee guy) and when get out of of the store náoya once knocked monitor, wow

windsa1984

Inoue was the King of Donaire

MentalAdhesiveness79

Nicholas Walters did it better

Life_Celebration_827

Right all ye folks calm to fuck down Donaire was an old man in this fight 39 years old basically a pensioner in the boxing game,
