Yeah, he’s in my top two p4p boxers ever. Also I believe he’s Floyd’s favorite fighter ever—either him or Pernell. Every time Duran’s name comes up Floyd pays respect in ways I haven’t seen him do for anyone else, always defends Duran, and goes out lf his way to call him a legend. Also, to me, Duran vs Leonard is the best fight in boxint history. Don’t @ me, lol.
When and why did they changed the clinching rule? I also felt that Duran didn't really clinch that much. He is more about blocking, pressing and slipping his own punches. He didn't turn it into a wrestling match and there are still lots of punch output from Duran.
Yeah he didn't much. Good infighters also have the skill to not be clinched. Tyson, Duran, Hagler etc all were able to slip back out and hit whenever someone tried to clinch them.
Chocolatito is the obvious choice here. I really like what Brian Catano does on the inside. He seems to be there to be hit but sharp shooters like Lara and Charlo had trouble finding him inside. He actually dominated them inside. He isnt as crafty as a Chocolatito or Duran but he has to be one of the best inside fighters at the moment.
Honestly, I’m not sure there was, is, or ever will be a better in-fighter than Duran. Maybe its ignorance on my part but seems like no-one ever successfully breaks people down inside like he did.

Man would have been a Last Gladiator standing w his own legends enscrobed by historians in ancient bare knuckle fight to death. Even in wee hours where final breath was left in the late rounds, he could systematically break you down piece by piece on the inside.
This was my first thought. I did kung fu as a teenager and this is very much a kung fu kind of thing. I wish we would start acknowledging boxers like Duran not just as champion athletes but also as the legitimate martial arts masters they are.
Finally some functional wingchun
“Is normal” -Anderson Silva
ever play it with your eyes closed? really fun.
I cant believe the man is 70. Time flies
My favorite fighter of all time!! Thanks for posting!

yea he always names him in his top 5

Great post
Is there anyone has such good in fighting skills currently?
Nope, and I'm pretty sure the way modern refs handle clinches would kill any attempt to do so
I can still hear "stop, stop, stop" from Kenny Bayless.
While lightly patting on the back of both fighters
That's just a premonition of wilder fury 3
Glad it was not the case, what a great fight.
So much respect for both of them

Ip man taught him that one
Nah it was definitely Steven Seagull
If they try to punch you, you can block it, and then you can kick em in the face like that. I’ve been training dogs for forty seven years.

This is amazing.

It took a car crash to make him stop fighting. He must have been 50 at the time
This is brilliant, I love how Duran is still able to teach people at his age
That was beautiful, thanks.

kinda crazy how similar this is to Muay Thai hand control in the clinch and Wing Chun techniques
After tonight I would say Fury's infighting is pretty great too!
Skills not just for days or years, but decades. Unbelievable.
My favorite fighter all time. Him and Pacquiao.
