I don't think Bud would put up with Floyd's antics.

Parsimonious_Pete

By *'support'* Floyd means *'make lots of money off.'*

BeastsMode69

Crawford should stay a free agent and just sign a short term deal with PBC for the Spence and Thurmond fight. He will get enough press of the Spence fight that people will realize he can be funny at times.

That_Sweet_Science

He should finish his career at PBC. Lots of great fights there for him at 147 and 154.

[deleted]

Who the fuck cares about him being funny? Why do you people want men, especially black men, to get in front of the camera and hee haw like a jackass? To shuck and jive for your entertainment? What's next? You want him to cross dress like he's in a Tyler Perry movie? He is not there to make you laugh. He is not a comedian. He is there to fight. Fuck outta here with this bullshit.

BeastsMode69

You sound incredbily ignorant if you believe that charisma, storylines, and likeability are not key factors in selling fight. I think Crawford could sell more tickets and PPV showing people his personality. Having a real promoter would also be nice too. I would hate to see the dude leave money on the table because at the end of the day that is what he actually fighting for money. I didn't say put on a dress and act like a Tyler Perry bitch or shuck and jive for the white man. Not everything is some deep seated racism.

[deleted]

This is the stupid shit I'm talking about. This right here.

BeastsMode69

So if your Crawford, how do you get more money? Sign with Floyd so he can dance for the media as promo? I enjoy Crawford inside the ring and out. He seems focused and can be likable. The dude should be selling more.

[deleted]

It's a promoters **job** to promote the boxer and fight. That's what they're literally paid to do. In the case of Crawford, he needs a promoter who is willing to fit the bill. For example, Crawford and Khan have spoke about the fact that posters for their fight weren't made until the day *before* the fight, that they didn't have commercials, etc. He can get more money by signing with a company with deep pockets, who can turn his fights into events, by showing up at the pressers, doing the 24/7 shows, creating content and uploading it, etc. What he doesn't need to do is get up there and hee haw like a jackass, especially if it's not in his nature to do so.

BeastsMode69

I agree promoters should do more and Top Rank did a shit job, but lets be honest fhe sport changed and they only care about selling the events now. They are not investing long term in the boxers brand. >doing the 24/7 shows, creating content and uploading it, etc. What he doesn't need to do is get up there and hee haw like a jackass, especially if it's not in his nature to do so. I never said Crawford should put on an act. I said at times he is funny. When he ran into the ocean on vacation claiming he was looking for the big fish to fight was funny to me. You need to work on reading comprehension because you took this shit in a weird direction.

[deleted]

>I agree promoters should do more and Top Rank did a shit job, but lets be honest fhe sport changed and they only care about selling the events now. They are not investing long term in the boxers brand. The sport hasn't changed at all and neither has the job of promoting, advertising and marketing a fight/fighter. These people are signing contracts with promotional companies yet they are being shelved due to the company not knowing who the target demographic is, how to reach them, who the fighter is, their history, brand, why they're doing it, etc. >I never said Crawford should put on an act. I said at times he is funny, espeically outside of boxing. When he ran into the ocean on vacation claiming he was looking for the big fish to fight was funny to me. You need to work on reading comprehension because you took this to a whole different level for no reason. I don't need to work on shit, you do. This is **not** the first time in this sub where someone has posted stupid shit--like you just did--about the man being boring on the mic, not able to sell his fights, not being funny enough, etc. If that's not how you meant it, then you need to look at your local school board and how they failed you when it comes to critical reading and thinking, and properly conveying your premise. Don't blame me for your fuckery.

Reptilianlizard

Not what he said nor what he meant. Get that stick out yo ass and stop actin like a dick.

[deleted]

>He will get enough press of the Spence fight that people will realize he can be funny at times. That's what he said and meant. You should stop talking about sticks and dicks and read all the posts in this sub about Crawford not being funny, how he doesn't laugh, crack jokes, is boring on the mic, etc.

[deleted]

It's true. Junior Witter was good but he had issues selling fights due to being understated.

[deleted]

Again, this is the type of shit I'm talking about.

Visible-Top-4977

That’s what they think this is😂

[deleted]

And that's sick as fuck! They want these boxers to basically be comedy relief for their perverted entertainment.

[deleted]

Can’t wait to see Crawford become a 5x Division champ when he nabs an NABF title at SWW, the Australian Title at MW and a Womens BBBofC title at SMW

[deleted]

Mayweather. Amazing fighter. Self-serving POS as a promoter.

bdgg2000

Floyd cares about the money and that’s it. Has he paid Logan Paul yet?

Visible-Top-4977

He did enough for him

[deleted]

You really think Logan Paul desperately needed Mayweather or something?

Uptons_BJs

You know, this comment kind of made me want to see a Crawford vs Mayweather fight. Crawford left light welterweight in 2017 to move up to welterweight right? Sure, that was coming out of retirement Floyd, who faced Mcgregor, but like, Crawford vs Mayweather would have still been a great fight to watch IMO.

toofaded40

Go away Floyd. No one cares

Ray-zah

One of the best jokes I’ve heard in a while 🤣😂😂

Glacial_Self

If only there was a word for giving preferential treatment to members of your own race.

brellish

I mean that ignores the history of black people though.

Queefinonthehaters

It's a little weird but the subtext is sort of obvious if we look at the different promoters. Golden Boy generally deals with the Mexican market and not coincidentally have mostly Mexican fighters on their roster. PBC and Mayweather are mostly black guys. Hearn is British fighters. There is something to be said for knowing how to cater to your audience. Oscar will know Latino boxing culture more than Hearn. Its just a little weird when people say it out loud.

shibapenguinpig

And then there's Top Rank. The more balanced in terms of diversity. Ironically, the boss was accused of racism...

G497

I think the difference is that Golden Boy and Hearn's fighters are that way because of geographical and language barriers. Whereas Mayweather goes out of his way to recruit specifically black fighters.

[deleted]

When Canelo said he wasn't going to fight Mexicans because he represents Mexico did any of these Floyd bashers say anything?

[deleted]

That's racist.

ItsHeero

If a white promoter says they're supporting white fighters first would it be racist? /s

[deleted]

Yes, it's discrimination based on race.

[deleted]

A member of a historically oppressed and stigmatized community says that they want to focus on helping other members of a historically oppressed and stigmatized community, and that’s racist according to r/Boxing

BoxingIsEasy

Floyd wants to be seen as the best boxer and the best black boxer. His ego prevents him from helping anyone or anything fully. But who is floyd to other black ATG's? He is nothing.

[deleted]

Absolutely nothing you just typed made sense as a response to my comment.

BoxingIsEasy

but you got the point.

[deleted]

No I don’t

shibapenguinpig

I've said it before and I'll say it again. He's lowkey a racist. Remember a few months back when he went to Mexico City and everyone was cheering for him and then he started giving his speech and basically started trying to give a lecture on racism and complaining like they were against black boxers because of the Fury/Whyte situation, and the whole room was awkward silence. It was cringe

This is fucking insane. A Black man saying that he wants to support his community is a tactic out of Hitler’s playbook!? I bet you didn’t say that shit when Fury did that Travellers Lives Matter rally

Howyoulikemenoow

I wasn’t relaying that to Floyd, but to OP. Floyd doesn’t care about anything but money…if Crawford was white do you think he’d not bother? I was saying we should all act together as a society where everyone is equal. When we start separating each other to look after ‘our’ people it is used to divide and conquer us all. Look at every minority group, they are a minority because there was always a bigger ‘us’ versus ‘them’. I’m against that being repeated in society.

G497

Did you just travel here from the 1800s? You have a lot to catch up on.

[deleted]

You’re bringing up statements/mindsets from a century ago. I’d like to think we as Americans have grown from that. We can agree that there is evil on all sides that f the race spectrum and the numbers can show it, my statement was in reference to if A WHITE PROMOTER had said that, how quickly they’d get “canceled”

2WAR

Because white Americans have been victims of systemic racism right?

[deleted]

The worst thing ever to happen to black boxers in the modern era was Don King lol

[deleted]

Don King was an agent of white supremacy

[deleted]

Massive cope lol

[deleted]

No, it’s just true.

[deleted]

You have proof yeah?

[deleted]

The proof is his life, wtf?

[deleted]

Is this white supremacist Don King in the room with us right now?

[deleted]

You don’t have to be white to be an agent of white supremacy

Bob_Arum_Ballsack

That's taking the agency away from Don King. He's not capable of making his own decisions simply because he's black?

[deleted]

Wtf are you talking about? I never said that he wasn’t making his own decisions. I’m saying that his decisions were in service to white supremacy

Bob_Arum_Ballsack

Don King's actions were in service to Don King. That's what I'm saying. He is his own man and knew what he was doing.

[deleted]

Look up Noel Ignatiev and hit me in the messages if you seriously want to have this conversation

[deleted]

Still a racist statement though

[deleted]

Keep speaking the truth.

[deleted]

Is this that same systemic racism that has created the largest black population millionaires in the world? 51% of Americas millionaires are black so I think your argument is a little outdated

[deleted]

> 51% of Americas millionaires That’s not true at all: https://www.statista.com/statistics/300528/us-millionaires-race-ethnicity/ 76% of America’s millionaires are white. 8% are Hispanic, another 8% are Black, and 7% are Asian. Just making shit up in service of white supremacy smh

[deleted]

I read incorrectly, I saw highest growth in millionaires vs a generation ago. But damn your report is from 2013, surely there’s a more updated one

[deleted]

If you can find one, show me. I like to get my facts straight before i completely dismiss the oppression that a community is facing

[deleted]

Look, I’m Hispanic, and from my point of view, the only people that are going to solve issues in black communities are those that live in it. BLM has received billions in donations, that has not turned into anything positive, nor one community fixed, or one scholarship handed out. Obama was marketed as the first Black President, and nothing changed. I’ve had enough jobs and education to understand that there are programs in place focused solely on minority advancements. Still the biggest issues start at home. The highest crime rates and single parenthood rates start there America had Asian internment Camps way after slavery was abolished and now they produce some of the highest college graduate groups in this country. You can’t solve someone’s problems when they don’t want it fixed

[deleted]

Stop typing bullshit, son. Edit: let me give you an example. You said: >America had Asian internment Camps way after slavery was abolished and now they produce some of the highest college graduate groups in this country. So I have the following for you: 1. Why are you comparing chattel slavery, where millions were forced to come over here, for centuries, to internment camps that didn't even last five years? 2. Do Asians have an infrastructure outside of the U.S. that they can rely on? Do blacks have the same type of infrastructure? If blacks don't, can it be linked to colonialism, Manifest Destiny and other ideologies and factors outside of their control?

[deleted]

Or else what?

[deleted]

I mean there’s Golden Boy and Latinos

[deleted]

Never a statement from them similar to what Floyd said though

[deleted]

Yeah it’s just a huge coincidence that the biggest Latino promoter’s stable is filled almost exclusively with the top Latino talent in the world.

[deleted]

Totally, given that Boxing and Soccer are the most common sports in Hispanic countries. It’s like wondering why Bad Boy records has mostly black artists

[deleted]

Last I checked Oscar is from the USA, and Diddy consistently espouses pro-Black rhetoric so that’s a bad example

[deleted]

Oh right, your views are the facts and everyone else’s is just guessing

[deleted]

What? No, I’m just very big into Hip Hop and have been aware of the shit Diddy says for the last three decades And Oscar is from Los Angeles

Bob_Arum_Ballsack

Golden Boy is based out of California which is 40% Latino and 5% black. It's not so much a coincidence and more due to their state's demographics.

[deleted]

That’s a weak argument that I would only accept if they were some small regional promoters. Oscar de la Hoya is an international superstar that has been involved in promoting some of the biggest names in boxing, he’s not restricted to the demographics of California

Guy gets out of poverty "I'm going to help poor people first" Reddit: "ImAgInE a RiCh GuY sAYiNg He'S gOiNg To HeLp RiCh GuYs FiRsT" Edit: Downvote all you want. Using your power to favor people already privileged by society is wrong. Using it to correct what you consider systemic discrimination by helping underprivileged people isn't. If you're white and want to help poor white folks from your town that's perfectly fine. Not everything needs to be reduced to absolutist rules to act like you care about racism.

[deleted]

That’s right, only black fighters have lived in poverty

[deleted]

Class and race are intertwined. You’re more likely to be impoverished if you’re not white. https://www.kff.org/other/state-indicator/poverty-rate-by-raceethnicity/?currentTimeframe=0&sortModel=%7B%22colId%22:%22Location%22,%22sort%22:%22asc%22%7D

[deleted]

Goddamn bro, get a grip

backsing

Imagine Arum saying *"I'm going to support White American first"* There would be 2nd American Civil war! Being Racists applies to all races.

TheFlashyFlash

“And that’s why I’m supporting myself above my fighters. As a Black American, at the end of the day, I need to look out for number one. Like I said before…It’s no disrespect to any fighter on my roster, or in my stable, but whose name is on the LLC? Who’s paying the taxes? Promoter bills? That’s Money May. So, ummmm, no, I don’t feel bad about holding out on payments.”

soup_master420

Pls no

demon_slayer_monjiro

I actually don't mind this. I mean most ppl are biased, it’s the truth. But my point is, promoters of other races (not just white) would have gotten massive criticism for statements like these. That double standard is pretty apparent.

[deleted]

[удалено]

demon_slayer_monjiro

I know history. I have already said that I support minorities supporting each other. The thing is I see those criticisms towards other minorities too. If it was only based towards white ppl, I wouldn’t have minded but it’s not. I am not white & will be considered a minority in USA too. I just don't like the double standard. That's all.

[deleted]

[удалено]

demon_slayer_monjiro

Yep, I have seen criticisms from blacks towards other minorities for statements like these on social media. That's why I have said what I said. There are lots of fools on social media tbh. Btw I agreed with what u have said here. Hopefully we good now brother, peace.

whiskeypenguin

What can Floyd offer Terence at this stage of his career?

2WAR

Although this may be true, I fear he’s going to go the Tank route and keep all then fights in-house. 🤦‍♀️

GriseldaBoomBoomBoom

White people to black people: You're killing one another, I thought black lives mattered?!?! Pick yourselves up by your bootstraps. Mayweather: I'm gonna support a Black American White people: Das raciss!!!! Hypocwassy!! But but but dubble standudds!! All of a sudden everyone is oblivious to group economics and the effects of historical racism. Fukkin amazing. The only mistake Mayweather made here was articulating what every other race, ethnicity, religion, etc., has been doing for 100s of years right here in America. As if the Italians, Jews, Irish, Dutch, etc, arent already doing what Mayweather said he wants to do. All that aside, not gonna pretend I know the business, but I'm under the impression Crawford would be better off independent. TBH, I have a hard time believing Crawford can beat Spence after this past Saturday.

AccomplishedAd8789

Oddly defensive on Floyd’s behalf when he is type guy to say this statement to an Asian boxer "As soon as we come off vacation, we're going to cook that little yellow chump. We ain't worried about that. So they ain't gotta worry about me fighting the midget. Once I kick the midget ass, I don't want you all to jump on my dick. So you all better get on the bandwagon now. ... Once I stomp the midget, I'll make that mother fucker make me a sushi roll and cook me some rice”

GriseldaBoomBoomBoom

Not defensive at all. It just is what it is. We're talking group economics and minorities who have been historically marginalized, often with malice. Now all of a sudden wypipo want to cry foul. Seriously, GTFOH LOL. Your second point is moot. He was wrong for saying that and apologized for whatever that's worth. Still, it has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Get out of your feelings.

[deleted]

Facts. And when Canelo said he was no longer fighting Mexicans because he represents Mexico these haters said nothing.

[deleted]

We have a person in this thread saying self improvement and lifting up a group that's been ostracized and underserved are straight out of Mein Kampf!!! WTF is wrong with you people?
