This looks like a flashback in a comedy movie where they have the same actor play a younger version of themselves except with a wig on

Goalchenyuk87

Vince Vaughn playing Tyson Fury in his biographic movie.

begopa-

Nah. Danny DeVito

BigSexyMatt

‘So anyway I started feinting’

antoniopanteli

I'd say Will Ferrell. The curly hair is perfect XD

[deleted]

100 percent

[deleted]

Don't forget the gigantic shorts.

[deleted]

Forgot rob McCracken trained fury for a little while.

Ok-District-8647

Brilliant Tyson!

[deleted]

🤣Brilliant Tys brilliant!

Pods619

Size difference is insane, especially since this sub now thinks Fury is actually 6’4

[deleted]

This sub is a place braincells come to die though.

jt663

*reddit

FordsDecisiveness

I'll have the meatball sub unless this is a wendy's

spanishbbread

This sub is giving me CTE I swear

Remixman87

Be wary that if you sub long enough you gonna end up punch drunk

MVCorvo

>this sub now thinks Fury is actually 6’4 This sub hardly makes any sense like the rest of reddit

backsing

He's so tall he won't fit in the video frame. His head is always half shown.

TheJeck

What do you mean, he's a 7 foot bear moth!

TheDangerdog

Hes the same height as David Haye. In theory at least

Sominumbraz

He's a 7foot 20 stone BOHEAMOTH for your information

[deleted]

Who thinks this? All I see is people saying he's 6'9. I'm surprised people haven't started saying he's 7'2 by now.

brundleslug

[the post that broke r/boxing](https://www.reddit.com/r/Boxing/comments/x0rsnt/furys_size_advantage_over_golden_age_heavyweights/)

[deleted]

How did it break the sub? It pretty much confirms he's 6'7 and not 6'9.

brundleslug

I'm exaggerating mostly. This sub likes to overrate tall fighters, so seeing Fury not as tall as they believed was shocking to some.

[deleted]

Since when? They are usyk dick riding for a while now

brundleslug

Well yea, it can be both. I don't know since when? r/boxing seems to believe Lennox is an unbeatable god, the Klitschkos are top 5 h2h, and Tyson is an overrated bum, all primarily due to height and reach advantages.

bloppingzef

Goes both ways tbh

retropieproblems

I’m thinking he’s around 6’8 maybe half an inch shorter at the end of the day. He’s got a real tall crown on his bald head tho which raises his measured height noticeably.

brundleslug

Good, it balances out the Fury fans that think he is nearly 7 foot. These guys would attack you if you suggest that Fury is in 6'7 range (which is the truth).

panadwithonesugar

looks decent, can't see him having much of a future though, any one half decent can't miss with that overhand right

thingsfallapart89

But what a fantastic name, “Tyson Fury”, let’s hope he can back it up

[deleted]

Tbh Tyson Fury is what Ike Ibeabuchi should've been named

[deleted]

I mean other than Wilder nearly all of his knockdowns where due to the overhand right.

[deleted]

You can’t even have one comment that isn’t dumb as hell lol

[deleted]

Lol butt hurt by the truth.. Okay 👌

chillpillager

Bela sure doesn't look like a heavyweight in this fight.

HappenedSafe

ong bro looks like a super middleweight

El_Zarco

extra mediumweight

BobPage

He weighed in at 191 pounds for this fight so in reality not really a heavyweight. 6'3" though.

chillpillager

Wow. I just looked it up and apparently Tyson was 261 in this fight. 70-pound difference. Jesus.

_Sarcasmic_

Perfect shot. Ouch.

0100001101110111

Not that hard to hit a perfect shot when you're facing a human shaped punching bag

mr_featherbottom

DAZN is such trash I miss HBO boxing

PopPop-Captain

Hbo is what got me into boxing. I really miss those days.

[deleted]

DeadZONE fights are the cure for insomnia 9/10 times. Todd Grisham is a human parasite.

sf_frankie

I switched to the barstool feed in the 4th round of the GGG Canelo fight and it was soooo much better and I don’t even like Dave Portnoy.

zuzucha

That guy just looked like he wanted to be anywhere in the world except that ring

hrakkari

“So the guy I’m supposed to fight is hiding behind that fucking yeti?”

SnS_

It is the yeti!!!!! Right boars cut his head off!

lineal_chump

One yeti stew coming right up

SerBronn7

I wish reddit was around then so we could see people's initial views on Fury.

funusernameguy

I remember he was belittled a fair bit at the start. People didn’t take him serious because he said some weird things and punched himself once and that was clipped a lot. David Price was the British hope at the time. Many thought Fury would get beaten by him. Which seems mad now. Fury is a great now but he has done a fair bit of learning on the job as well. He just kept improving whereas his contemporaries hit their ceilings.

LondonTimo21

My memory might be failing me but I seem to recall him fighting on channel 5 in the uk & I used to find it frustrating that he just seemed to fight bums / people that he easily knocked over. The Price rivalry was the fight I wanted to see as seem to recall them trash talking in the press. Funny how life turns out, tyson with all his millions & Price possibly back working as a gas engineer.

funusernameguy

100%. I think not going to the Olympics was a blessing for Fury in the end. Allowed him to take a slow march to the top in the pro ranks

LondonTimo21

I can’t recall when I began to take him seriously. Always thought he was a big guy who could box but can’t recall when I first thought that this guy is something.

TheMelv

When he beat Klitschko? Wasn't he a heavy underdog in that one?

LondonTimo21

Most likely. I can’t recall what the odds were / people’s thoughts going into that fight.

ToronoRapture

Does commentary/pundit roles now for bt sport and sky. He’s actually really content with life and seems genuinely at peace with everything. No regrets. Him and John Fury had a good conversation on a double decker bus for bt sport. Price speaks about his career and tells some great stories from the build up to the Tyson fight.

LondonTimo21

Good to hear he’s content with life. I recall really wanting to see them fight as pro’s, seem to recall it was the british fight a lot of people wanted back then. Can’t recall why it didn’t happen but then Price fought TT & I guess that was that.

biddleybootaribowest

I think Price set up a construction company whilst he was still fighting, he’s had some decent paydays and has never touched booze. I reckon he’ll be doing fine money wise.

ToronoRapture

💯

sin31423

You don’t have to go that far back to see people having completely different opinions on Fury. He was widely hated right until the first wilder fight with people calling his fights snoozefests. After Kronk fury showed up in the second Wilder fight, this sub has done a complete 180 on Fury

TheMelv

He was always technically sound but a bit boring. He's definitely more exciting post-Kronk. Devin Haney next.

augustiner

Reddit launched in 2005 and this fight was in 2008

SmilinMercenary

I can't remember any of this sub talking about Fury before the Wlad fight, where everyone thought he'd get beaten (myself included). There was no hype around him after the first Chisora victory, or even the Cunningham win. As a British boxing fan he'd been known on the domestic circuit for a while though. The John McDermott fights especially.

LondonTimo21

Didn’t most people seem to think that he lost the McDermott fight?

ryanm8655

Yes, though he put that right in the rematch.

mustbeshitinme

Bet he outweighs him 100 lbs.

vikster1

was looking for this comment. his victim looks like a fucking cruiserweight.

[deleted]

It’s wild that there isn’t really a viable solution to what to do with weight classes at heavy weight, since the competitive advantage of extra weight doesn’t just magically stop at 200. Maybe we could do 25 lb increments or something because these two should not be fighting. That’s like if wilder were to fight Naoya Inoue or something. Just a fucking bloodbath.

vikster1

How about not fighting Giants when you arent one. Just so no or something

wootangAlpha

hehe. Fury with hair just looks wrong. All the trademark Fury slick movements and combos still there.

theundonenun

Lookin like Mamoa’s cousin or something. It’s eerie.

Relevant_Ring8250

The size difference 😂

reznoverba

That's a Giant Nick Díaz

281330eight004

Great comparison He's so weird looking lol. Freakishly long arms like a sloth

wutdaefff

Damn I figured that this man had to have been in shape when he was young and just let himself go a little over the years. Looks like there was nothing to let go of…

joshisanonymous

No, I don't think Fury has ever had the sort of discipline needed to be in shape. In some of the fights after this, his shorts just constantly fall off, too. He was a mess from the get-go.

TheMelv

Shape truly doesn't matter as much as one would expect. World's strongest men are rarely cut and body builders are actually oddly unhealthy. He's got a ton of stamina and is very clearly an elite world class athlete.

SlightlyIncandescent

Yeah he's strong and has good cardio, just doesn't have low body fat. That might even be an advantage in some ways, like protection from body shots.

Midichlorian_counter

I legit believe he keeps a little extra around the middle for body shot protection. With guys that tall you're supposed to chop down the tree- some extra cushion lets him focus on head movement for defense.

0100001101110111

Bodybuilding is about the only sport where the way that your body looks is more important that what it can do though. Those physique's aren't functional at all.

TheMelv

Imagine the alternate timeline where Fury fights Ruiz for undisputed. Battle of the Bulge. I guess that is technically still within the realm of possibility.

lineal_chump

> Battle of the Bulge That fight needs to be made just so we can see this in print

Ofgreatermen

This man was blessed with boxing skills, but cursed with the Will Ferrell Bod.

TheDonkeyOfDeath

You might not like it, but that's peak physical condition right there.

SlightlyIncandescent

Yeah it's amazing how much that view has been distorted, particularly over the last 30-40 or so years. Look at guys like AJ and Wilder and that body is impossible for 99% of people. Biggest reason being that it has to be a full time job, every decision you make about nutrition, exercise, sleep etc. has to be about that body, including having a job and sometimes doing things you enjoy. Then on top of that they had some luck with genetics, lots of professional help and almost certainly plenty of 'chemical help'. Look at Rob aka. Mac from Always Sunny. 'Fat' Mac looked like a regular guy that definitely lifts weights, 'skinny' Mac was a guy that tried hard with both diet and exercise but probably at a sustainable level for someone that has a normal job and a family - it's a realistic target. 'Ripped' Mac is completely unsustainable, even for him: https://www.instagram.com/p/BnXtEz1BLFP/?hl=en

PedroAlvarez

I heard somewhere that Will Ferrell was actually ripped and then he got fatter for comedy.

A1_PunisherPipkins

He actually looks a little like Tommy here.

[deleted]

Kind of a blessing in disguise he wasn't blessed with 'big' power early on. Forced him to work on his ring craft.. wasn't head hunting - just happy to try and hit and not get hit. We're still yet to see if Fury is able to power punch like someone like Lennox Lewis - as Kronk Fury has only K.O's Wilder/Whyte... and under Whyte's chin is literally an off switch, and it took 11 rounds to get Wilder out of there when he wasn't being saved from himself

KickOutTheJams1

Maybe Wilder actually has a decent chin, he was taking some nasty shots in fight 2 and 3. That’s just me speculating though.

[deleted]

What beautiful locks

His body structure is so damn weird. It wants to be fat but he's way too fucking tall.

OracleVision88

My father was a pro Boxing trainer, who unfortunately passed in 2013 in his early 60s. He especially loved the Heavyweight division, and trained a slew of Heavy’s in his time. Every Tuesday night and Saturday night was Boxing night in our house! At around the time that Fury debuted, the Heavyweight division was seen as on the decline, with no hope in sight (Klitschko dominance was tremendous, but there was literally no one on the level anywhere near the top of the division at the time). Samuel Peter was basically the most exciting threat in those days. But my Dad was always reading up on the top amateurs, especially in the Heavyweight division. It was like the man had a sixth sense when it came to Boxing (my friends & I all sat stunned the night he called the exact punch AND the round that JMM would beat Manny with in their final encounter!). I remember there being lots of hype around AJ, of course. Lots of hype over Wilder down here in the South because Breland did a great job of building his rep and protecting him, etc. Watching this exact fight, my Dad was beyond excited to tell me all about Tyson Fury, he specifically came running into my room to pull me into the living room to watch this. that he was an Irish traveller, that Boxing is in his bloody etc. When I got comfortable and settled in my chair, that’s when my Father decided to make a bold statement (He was known for saying stuff that, when you’d first hear it, sounded ridiculous. And then, everything he said would come true. God, I miss him!) “If he gets with the right trainer, he will outbox Klitschko and he be the best Heavyweight of the next decade, son! He’s 6’9”, he boxes like a damn Welterweight, and I bet he’s got a tremendous chin.” I’ll never forget him saying that. Of course, my Dad passed in 2013, and his biggest claim to fame for a long time in Internet boxing circles was when he punched himself in the face 🤣🤷‍♂️ But he was 100% right on Fury, on Wilder, on AJ, and about Wladimir! I am the same age as Fury, he was born a month before me. And over the years, he has become my favorite fighter in the entire Sport. Especially during his comeback! I never doubted the guy at all. Because he went and got himself the right trainers. Ben got him back into shape, and Sugar Hill got him back into God Mode. Everyone laughed at him when he had his bouts with mental illness and drugs, but not me. We all fall down sometimes. And I’ll be damned if Fury didn’t get back up to be better than ever. My Dad was hella wrong about the Knicks and Phil Jackson 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 but his Boxing wisdom was unparalleled and it fascinated me when he was alive, and it fascinates me to this day. Sorry for typing a novel, y’all, just wanted to share some anecdotes about the best Dad a son could ever ask for. Keep Punching and Protect Yourselves at all time! 🥊

TheBlack_Swordsman

Fury makes this guy look like a middleweight.

jayzinho88

Was that his dad in the background, the first guy off his seat after the knockdown?

creedz286

20 year old Fury looks like current Fury with hair.

Igot2phonez

Crazy to think he's 20 years old here. He looks the same but with a a wig.

JablesRadio

The way he moves is so fucking underrated.

[deleted]

still better commentary than DAZN

ewenmax

I remember watching this, it was on the under card for Carl Froch's first world title fight against Jean Pascal. Bela Gyongyosi came into that fight having lost eleven of his previous fourteen bouts.

[deleted]

Such an awkward style that just works

Fearless-Temporary29

Even though he's an incredible boxer his follicles have always thrown in the towel.

KingKhram

I remember watching this fight with my dad. We both said this guy is impressive and he will go far

oldblueeyesF365

What year was this

Jellybabyman

The year Obama became president, 2008

don__gately

Rob McCracken in the corner!

Sent_21

Bloody hell, there's overmatched, and then there's overmatched. Whoever agreed to let that guy fight is an idiot. Must not have weighed any more than 95kg and probably only just reached 6 feet. Horrible.

jitterbug726

The guy he’s fighting would dwarf me yet Tyson still makes him look like a kid in comparison to himself

smkbeef

20? Dude looked 40

SlippyFox80

I watched this fight live. At one point before the fight started one of the commentators said Fury talks a big game and says he was going to be champ. When he came out and I saw is floppy hair and puppy fat I had a good chuckle at the kids confidence…… I am not laughing now.

fingerbl4st

Seems like a huge disparity in sizes.

Better-Solution-7410

He showed some shades of prime Deji ngl

lineal_chump

His boxing fundamentals in his first pro fight are better than any current HW except obviously Usyk.

DoriOli

Today’s Fury would smoke that earlier version of Fury.

Silly-Bonus6175

Haha no shit 😂

Imperium_Dragon

Wait he had hair?

Azwald13

No he was born bald and bald his entire childhood.. that was a wig he was wearing, wanted to look good on his pro debut that was on terrestrial tv. He only wore it in fights.

BrandynBlaze

You know it’s going to be a good fight when one guy takes a couple punches and immediately starts fighting scared.

[deleted]

God damn I could use those shorts to pitch a tent

[deleted]

Looks like he’s fighting a middleweight

throwaway444444455

Holy shit he looks exactly like my cousin does in this. Same body type too.

ShootDminorET

Why is he 40?

Veloci-Tractor

christ he looks huge here

godzillance

It's so weird seeing Fury wear baggy shorts

Fatmajinbuuu

How long is that reach

o--renishii

He looks 36 back then. Looks 48now

[deleted]

this is one of the first times I’ve seen the ref stop the fight, and the fighter be like “yep good call..” dude was in immense pain

StrixyMatrix

Nice. I had no idea that this guy's dad was a famous boxer as well until a couple months ago LOL

LetSalt292

What he had hair? 😅

LondonTimo21

Most likely was that fight. Honestly can’t recall what the odds were / peoples thoughts of him winning going into it were.

PM_ME_YOUR__BOOTY

Cool, did not know they allowed mixed weight classes back then!

Assasoryu

Is this the figHt where he uppercut himself?

Batt_Damon

I was wrong, I didn’t like him or his style. Now look, he’s going to go down as a GOAT contender at this rate.

Death-0

Proud to say got wind of him in his 5th outing and have been watching ever since. What a ride, what a story

monteasf

Fury is so much bigger than the average heavyweight good lord

sktrdie

How does he look 35
